Within an hour of arriving to the Island, we decided to try the happy hour here. We ordered the onion rings and zucchini, a beer and a mixed drink. Female server ask if we were ordering from the Happy Hour menu. We said, Yes. When the bill came we had been charged for 2 separate appetizers $16. As seen on the happy hour menu, the order shows as a half onion rings and half order of zucchini for $8. Here's a picture of both menus, you make the call. Felt a little on the bamboozled side, kinda like a bad fishing trip. LoL. We will not be returning.

Came here for a quick stop before our submarine expedition. We only grabbed drinks and a salad. The salad was so good and the serving is big! 🥗🍻 Drinks were so good we grabbed the watermelon redbull margarita - classic from Coachella 🥃😛. Would come back when we are back in the area. Our waitress was so nice and she recommended a few spots because we were in the Island for our honeymoon 💗.

The inside is super outdated BUT our lunch was fantastic and I wasnt here for the decor. I had the grilled shrimp tacos and they were amazing. Best lunch I've had in a long time. I usually dont like tomatillo salsa but it was the star of the show. My husband had the prime rib sandwich and was happy, tons of au jus and gave horseradish upon request. Highly recommend and would absolutely return.

Dude, this place is SO GOOD. I have eaten at 3 restaurants on the island so far and this one is my favorite. Friendly and fast service, high quality and delicious food at a good price, an ambiance that is both fun and upscale-I found this place to be quite impressive. I ordered the Avalon Cabernet, scallop and clam chowder and the linguine with pesto shrimp. My husband ordered the burger. Both of us were super satiated with our meal. Coming here on a cold day during the off season was super comforting.

Excellent prime ribs. The only thing I wish there was a choice of mushed potatoes and garlic mushrooms as sides.

Google
A nice restaurant, great food and friendly/helpful staff, the Tequila and beers were great too. The bar and decor of the restaurant is cool too. Bathrooms are upstairs so be mindful of that

Google
Service was great , we were seated promptly without a reservation. The firecracker shrimp was delicious! Nicely seasoned with great flavors. The salmon was a great portion size along with the mashed potatoes, would have liked more broccoli but that’s my only negative criticism. The steak was cook really well, juicy ,succulent, and buttery taste. The piña colada had great balance of rum and coconut mix. Also everything was nicely priced for portions and taste.

Google
Nice restaurant , we got here after happy hour which is only between 12-3, so we ordered from the regular menu. Since I saw they have onion soup that was a must to order. It was very hot which was fine , however the taste was little different than what I was used to , and by that I mean it was a little more sour and salty. The second on my order was calamari. Even if they are considered starters, the portion was big. They were not the regular round calamari , they were bigger , good but again a little more salty as well as the tartar sauce. The server did not rush us which was nice and the order came pretty quick which was awesome …we were so hungry. I can’t say it was a great experience but it was good for a one time on the island. By the way , the Ice tea ( alcohol one) was so good , so worth trying it.

Yelp
Food not so great Valentine dinner- steak OK Lobster tough But bar The best I'd go back for the bartenders Isaik and Gerardo made my experience!!! The expresso martini to die for Thank you gentlemen

Yelp
After a few seafood heavy meals we decided it was time for a steak, and what better place that somewhere serving up prime rib everyday? My mom and I ordered the 20 oz prime rib to share and added the shrimp. For the side we each got the grilled romano potatoes, which was basically mashed potatoes shaped into a patty and thrown on the grill to get a nice crisp exterior, very good! Every part of the entree was really good and full of flavor. We ordered the prime rib medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. We shared a caesar salad because we felt like we needed some veggies, this was just okay and I'd probably skip it next time. Wine was also just okay, the list had a decent variety, but I think some of them had just been opened a little too long or maybe got too warm. I tasted a couple before ordering a glass and didn't like any of them, so ended up going with one I didn't try and that was just okay too. The place had a total old school steakhouse vibe with the round chandelier and paintings of ships and different vantage points of Catalina all over the walls.

Yelp
Great prime rib when you need some red meat! We went for lunch and will go again! We saw some locals looking pretty happy with their lunches!

Karla E.

Yelp
A place so good, you'll want to come back the next day! Just like us! Honestly, everything from the food, service and ambience was 5/5 for us. Came for lunch after a morning of hiking and had a great experience. There's plenty of sitting inside, they even have a second floor, and limited seating outside. The tables/booths were clean and spacious. The bathrooms were also really clean! The hostess was really nice and immediately escorted us to our booth. Our server Ruben was amazing from start to finish. It's always a plus for me when a server will go out of their way to relate to their guests and make their visit special. Let's talk food. The Spinach & Artichoke Dip is a MUST! We had it both times! It's so creamy and the warm and toasty bread is the perfect tool to dip in! To drink I had the Watermelon Redbull Margarita! Another must try if you like Margaritas and/or tajin. We tried the Fish Tacos, Beer Battered Fish & Chips (the two best plates in our opinion), the Shrimp Tacos, the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo Pasta, and the Fried Chicken Sandwich. You have to stop by when you're in town! Great spot to watch games or sing karaoke on a weekday!

Andreas G.

Yelp
Went here for a late lunch on a weekday. Place was pretty empty so we found a table without problems. Was a really comfortable booth. We ordered the clam chowder and the swordfish with fries and asparagus. Swordfish came with a nice tartar sauce. Fish was cooked perfectly and the asparagus and fries were really tasty as well. My wife also enjoyed the clam chowder. Overall great meal, also really liked the interior. Staff were super friendly and quick with refills.

Yelp
We were on the island for our mini honeymoon. Hard to decide where to eat but El Galleon kept calling out for us so we tried it. So glad we did! Not only did that, we ate here 2 out of the 4 dinners of our stay! We fell in love with the Clam and Scallop Chowder! So full of chunky seafood, they only serve in a cup. Small but hearty! Completely delicious. The Hickory Bacon Burger was fantastic too, big flavorful and satisfying with just the right amount of fries on the side. My husband enjoyed the ribeye with a baked potato. All in all great meals. The fried zucchini was also decent, large quantity for an appetizer too. They do serve the best iced tea on the island, pretty sure about that. We kept those coming both meals! We aren't drinkers so we didn't try the cocktails but they were definitely flowing all around us. Karaoke happens often in El Galleon, as well. We heard it from the boardwalk as we strolled around in the evenings. Comfortable booths line the restaurant with a large bar area as a focal point. Our waitress both nights was Natalie. She may have even been the reason we returned, just very sweet! Made us feel like we were in our neighborhood restaurant, familiar and friendly. Prices run in line with most places in Avalon. For a nice meal you'll pay anywhere from $20-40 and the range of selection from beef to seafood, pasta to salads and all over in between. We still recommend that chowder though, no matter what you decide to order. It is really yummy! Thank you El Galleon, for making our honeymoon that much more wonderful. We know we'll be back!! CHEERS!!

Craig W.

Yelp
El Galleon's decor has a sort of nautical theme going on with some modern touches and plenty of soccer playing on the TVs. The menu has a lot of options and the place is kid friendly. Service was good. The star of the meal was the prime rib sandwich. Normally, I find prime rib soft and boring and sometimes tasteless but this sandwich was very, very good. The combination of the prime rib, Swiss cheese, tomato, and Ortega chili was great. The shrimp and chips was nice and came with several big, juicy shrimp over a thousand fries. The fried chicken sandwich came with an absolutely enormous patty of chicken, topped with coleslaw. It was also a solid choice. I loved the prime rib sandwich and thought the rest of the food was solid. This isn't spectacular food but it's much better than average. And you won't leave hungry.

Yelp
It was a toss up on where we ended up for dinner. Ended up here as they had a table ready. I believed I been here once before many years ago. Service was nice, our waiter was quite sweet. Menu does have a good amount of dishes worth trying. Drinks, same. The night we came, they happened to have karaoke after 9 which we stayed for and was fun. The meal was quite nice, the ciopinno was impressive. Nice thick flavors in the broth as well as a good amount of seafood. The stead was nice as well. Both the French onion and clam chowder was nice. Fish and chips was ok, nothing major to rave about. We also had the started but it took a while to come out. Half way through our entree, think the waiter forgot and re placed the order when we reminded him. But the fried zucchini was nice. Food wise, it was good. Did the trick as well as drinks. Service was nice, slow at times as it was busy but nice. Karaoke was a fun night. I believe when it stared, food service was finished as we noticed things were starting to get cleaned up.

Yelp
Our huge party of 30 people came for dinner while staying on the island. We also wanted to be part of the karaoke night event. This place was hopping! It's a bar/restaurant/karaoke party and very loud and noisy. El Galleon has a great menu with so many options to meet the needs of everyone. Our group included gluten free, vegetarian, and meat eaters and everyone was happy. We had been hearing about the Catalina Buffalo Milk and wife decided to dive in and give it a try. Completely not what you think! This "cocktail of Catalina Island" is made with vodka, cream de cacao, cream de banana, coffee liquor, and ice cream...topped with whip cream and nutmeg. The drink was tested by several, who actually ended up ordering their own. Everyone loved it! We had noticed while waiting for our tables that many tables had onion rings, which are a huge downfall for us! So ordered them and we were not disappointed! They were huge and cooked to perfection...how do you know? When you take a bit and the sweet onion doesn't all come slipping out of the batter with that bite! Served with catsup and ranch but fantastic by themselves! I ordered the fish and chips and asked to substitute the fries for a baked potato, which was accommodated without hesitation. The fish was good, a bit more breading that I like but I loved the tarter sauce and actually asked for extra! Wife had the jumbo shrimp and fries which she said was "good" for fried food! You have to order water at the island restaurants and we discovered that some places charge for their bottled water and others don't. Here you pay $1.50 per bottle. Again, pricey and our overall meal was $91.00 so be prepared!

Lauren B.

Yelp
Let's keep it short and sweet: Service was quick Clam chowder was good and hearty Fish and chips were meh. Fish was overcooked. So I suggest ordering something else Bathrooms are upstairs Pub vibes and great break from the sun when needed No wait for a table which when we came for an early dinner around 5pm on a Saturday night. Bottle water sold only. No complimentary water. Nothing special about this spot from what we tried. Would come back for clam chowder though.

Bryan S.

Yelp
What are the best swordfish sandwiches I've ever had. I had it blackened. This was the first place we ate at on the island when arrived. We decided it probably was the top2 restaurants we ate at in our 4 days there.

Ren N.

Yelp
Bar like area, very good customer service. Would recommend the prime rib! And the seafood bisque. Delicious and worth the money right on the water front. Not sure about that paella like seafood soup thing. Barely have much seafood. This place has outdoor and indoor seating, inside looks like an Irish pub but with history of this island. Bathroom up the stairs. Has a nice balcony view from above.

Genevieve H.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday and it was pretty busy. Service was ok, but the restaurant inside was clean and the decor is nice. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip which was still a bit cold in the middle unfortunately, but the bread it came with was great. The hickory burger was delicious and cooked perfectly, and I had the prime rib sandwich - so tender! My only complaint would be it needed horseradish, but it was a solid sandwich Overall not the best food I've had but a solid option.

Tina M.

Yelp
I have to say Gerard was THE BEST SERVER!!!! Fast attentive and never forgot a thing!!!!! We will be back for his amazing service!!!!!

Abigail U.

Yelp
I ordered the shrimp tacos and their alcoholic drink, pain killer. The tacos were delicious. I will definitely be returning to try something else in their menu. They also have karaoke in the evening. Extremely fun!

Emily S.

Yelp
Very much enjoyed my experience at El Galleon! We arrived at this restaurant 20 minutes before closing due to our ferry being delayed, and they were gracious in welcoming us in and sitting us immediately. We ordered the grilled artichoke, clam chowder, and fried chicken sandwich. Our server was very attentive, and when our clam chowder did not come out, he made sure to acknowledge my ordering it and brought it out within the next 5 minutes. The clam chowder and grilled artichoke had great flavor and we really enjoyed eating. The fried chicken sandwich was more underwhelming, we both wished it had more flavor and the chicken was juicer. I also wished the restaurant and bathrooms were a little cleaner, but I understand that it was the end of the night. Ultimately, had a great meal with great server at El Galleon and would return!

Jessica C.

Yelp
We had reservations for 11am but no one acknowledged us until about 11:10. The food was far better than I expected. Our server was so pleasant and attentive. The ambiance was enjoyable. Bathrooms and extra seating were upstairs (no ocean views though).

Susan S.

Yelp
Great drinks! Fab patio facing the beach to watch the world go by in Avalon! This is one fun bar with Karaoke! This is their signature drink!

Chan M.

Yelp
Had a reservation at 7pm went to the restaurant and it was close I'm so confuse. Oh well.

Michael L.

Yelp
Staff all the way around are very friendly and the venue itself is the opposite of diving. Would expect this place to be super popular during buccaneer weekend. Right on the waterfront view. Did not try the food so have no recommendations for against. Music was all country fyi. Make sure to "check-in" to get discounted cocktail.

Rosie A.

Yelp
Was lounging on the mini front beach of this establishment in Catalina Idland, we suddently worked up the munchies for french fries and walked over to order. Was directed to the bar and was a bit hesitant given I heard employees bad mouth some customers. So i thought I'd proceed with caution. After a few minutes I obtained my order "to go" and shared a batch with my family. I have to say we are pretty picky with our fries and these were a very decent size for the money and most importantly quire tasty. Will definitely go back!

silvia k.

Yelp
Good view good food, prime rib was a bit pricey for the quality but was still good. Asked for medium rare but was cooked more like medium, the tacos were great, very saucy, kinda spicy, and shrimp was good, I asked for it grilled. Also got clam chowder which was advertised at scallops and clams but I only saw and tasted the clams. Still very thick and creamy broth tho 10/10 for the chowder

Natasha L.

Yelp
Fantastic dining experience from the greeting to the food. Drinks were smooth and we had the Clam chowder which is amazing was the star of the show for me. I also wanted to try the shrimp and it was full of flavor, bite size and delicious. We split the hickory burger and so glad we did. The burger was very good and full of flavor. The restaurant is huge with so many sections. Our booth was comfortable and clean and the staff was on point with checking in, picking up dishes and making sure we had what we needed. This will be our spot every visit.

Janet C.

Yelp
Ambience was great with sports TV and music. We order the caesar salad and a 20 oz prime rib to share. Everything was delicious, well seasoned, and had great portions. They also have a larger variety of dishes to choose from and a full bar. Our server Natalie was wonderful and attentive along with other servers checking in on us frequently. Overall great experience and will be back!

James D.

Yelp
Enjoyed a drink here at El Galleon with my fiancé during our last hours on the island. It was a nice place to kill time at while waiting for the ferry. We sat on one of the outside counters facing the beach. Waiters were super nice and service was amazing. What else can you ask for?

Brenny M.

Yelp
What an amazing experience after tackling a massive staircase hike towards the Catalina Chimes Tower. The hunny didn't want to wait for me to finish my shopping afterward, so he discovered this little gem & had a refreshing margarita waiting for me. We paired our drinks up with a grilled Spanish octopus & a couple of fish tacos. Everything was delectable. Surrounded by the breath-taking views of the Catalina Island, while meeting new people, coming to El Galleon was the therapy we needed.

SHAWN C.

Yelp
Loved the ambiance here. Came because it was highly rated on yelp, and I wanted a prime rib. This place didn't disappoint. Ordered the Irish nachos and prime rib. Potato skins on Irish nachos were nice and toasty. Chipotle mayo was awesome and not too spicy. Romano potatoes with prime rib were ok. Mason provided great service. Would definitely come back again.

Sierra B.

Yelp
The service was friendly and attentive which is always appreciated. My party of three got the prime rib, fish and chips, and the pesto pasta. We all enjoyed our food but the best was the French onion soup. It was so flavorful it would be best dipped with the prime rib sandwich in our opinion. A little pricey but it's normal for the area.

Michael D.

Yelp
Drawn to the restaurant by the wonderfully engaging general manager Luis Amczcva, it's great service by Salvador and friendly welcome by Daniel, the El Galleon restaurant exceeded our expectations with flavor, ambiance and creative menu options. We chose to order family style and each dish was special. Don't miss the prime rib sandwich and the locally caught sword fish! Also start with clam and scallop chowder and end with Avalons best Buffalo Milk drinks! This is a local restaurant you do not want to miss. We plan to literally sail back here time and time again on Endless Light.

Sandi C.

Yelp
We decided to take a last minute day trip to Avalon (Catalina). First off, the ambiance at El Galleon is very relaxing as it's on the waterfront and over looks the marina. The service was spot on as Augustine was extremely attentive. Everything from ordering drinks to completing our last transaction was expeditious. It was also very much appreciated since this was our last stop before boarding the Catalina Express. I would definitely return! Thank you for an amazing dining experience!

Claudee O.

Yelp
1st time here l love it drinks are the best and food was very tasty will come back for dinner...

Francisco M.

Yelp
Service was great. Drinks were strong. The view is great. The food is ok. WAAAY overpriced. Our steaks were both overcooked. If you want to charge like a big time steakhouse I would expect my steak to be cooked correct. Paid around $170 for an ok meal.

Agustin R.

Yelp
Came to watch the USC game here and the place was pretty packed they have a fully stocked bar and big food menu the wings were good so was the spinach dip the service was really good ! Super fast and they have karaoke at nights so it was pretty cool after the game we had some drinks and listen to the music

Steve O.

Yelp
Staff: This alone made the visit 6 stars. We were greeted and seated by a nice woman with blond hair. Our server was Natalie who was the star of the night. From the moment we met she was genuinely interested in ensuring our visit was perfect. She was friendly, engaging, sincere, caring, knowledgeable of the menu, and very attentive to our needs. I recommend that she be prepared to be a manager with her amazing service. We spoke with Erik who was the manager on duty to share our amazing experience. He wasn't surprised at all as she is known to be great at her job. Quality/Quantity: The food was so so good. I started off with their famous watermelon margarita which was delicious. The glass rim was dipped in Mexican salt adding a nice spice and sour taste to the drink. So yummy. We ordered the buffalo wings, salad, kids grilled cheese, rib eye, and fish tacos. All were delicious. The quantity was very generous so you get your money's worth. Value: Reasonable considering the quality of the food. Overall: This was a great dinner that made for the perfect closing to our trip. Nice ambiance and great all around. Natalie made the evening perfect with her caring and attentive service. She even brought out an amazing chocolate lava cake for the birthday of one of our guests. Excellent job to the staff, the chefs, and most of all Natalie. We will be back when we return to the island.

Diana M.

Yelp
Service amazing! Bartenders I loved them all! The atmosphere was exceptional! I'm lease stop by and have a few drinks with the amazing crew! Bunny and Gerardo! Best bartenders ever! Sorry if I spelled these wrong! lol

Viri L.

Yelp
Nice restaurant in front of the beach, with good food and drinks. The bartender Bunny was very attentive, nice and made the experience a better one. He provided great drinks recommendations and I was satisfied with selection. He continuously checked in on us to make sure we were ok. The atmosphere was chill and fun, they had karaoke after 9 which was nice.

Julia C.

Yelp
This is a great place for dinner! The food is great, the service is fast, and the atmosphere is captivating. I got the half rack of bbq ribs, they were delicious and were cooked to perfection. My parents both got a burger and said it just as appetizing. The people we're working were as friendly as ever and were highly attentive. The restaurant itself has a nice theme going too. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Margaret J.

Yelp
Really good food and a great atmosphere. Good strong drinks and the best view you can ask for.

Harry O.

Yelp
I love this place!! I eat here a few times every trip I make to Catalina. For me, it's pure heaven to sit outside watching the boats and people and enjoying a great dinner and wonderful song tracks!!

Peter E.

Yelp
My wife and I made a day trip to Catalina last week to do some kayaking and eating and drinking. By the time we got to El Galleon -- about an hour before our ferry was due to take us back to the mainland, we were down to just the drinking part. Sat in a couple seats along the rail looking out over the beach. It was a beautiful day. Ordered a couple cadillac margaritas and they were delivered within about 5 minutes by our very friendly server. Took our time drinking our last drinks on Catalina this trip -- they were very good -- then walked over to the ferry landing for the voyage home. Next time we'll check out the food too.

Wendy M.

Yelp
Best place ever! Servers are awesome and food and drinks were really great!!! Everyone's having an awesome time. Great bar in Catalina Island.

Karen O.

Yelp
food service and ambience all great. Our server who was also bartender very attentive. We ordered apps a s had the firecracker shrimp and irish. nachos both delicious!

Jess T.

Yelp
I don't even know where to begin.... everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. I would avoid this place at all costs. This was one of the worst dining experiences of my entire life, and that says a lot because I go out to eat quite often. The food was horrible, and the service could not have been worse (they literally forgot to cook my meal and I never ended up getting it because they forgot over and over again). I ended up eating bits off of everyone else's plates because hours had gone by, and they still had not brought me any food. Do yourself a favor and go to any one of the 50 other restaurants on the Island, I know I wish we did.

Geemomma O.

Yelp
What a gem. Our server was awesome, food was so delicious (fish tacos, clam scallop chowder & Asian chicken salad) and the atmosphere complimented for a nice dinner on our vacation.

Chris S.

Yelp
Pros Steak was cooked exactly medium rare This establishment does not skimp on alcohol the drinks were very strong The atmosphere was wonderful The chocolate lava cake was good! Neutral Service was standard not good or bad Cons Prices would insinuate a higher caliber of experience Seasoning was lacking on both the fried chicken sandwich and the steak

Sean J.

Yelp
What better way to take in beautiful Catalina Island than to have dinner on the beach in downtown Avalon. Many restaurants offer dinner on the beach for a small fee, which was worth it to experience the fresh evening air. Our waiter was very friendly and kept our glasses filled without hesitation, he would even ask if we wanted another cocktail which we definitely wanted because they were delicious. The Catalina Buffalo Milk is a staple on the island and worth getting if you like chocolate banana milkshakes and are not lactose intolerant. The nutmeg on top was a great garnish and added to the delicious mix of crème de banana, coffee liquor, crème de cacao, and vodka. With ice cream added in, this was perfect for cooling off after a long day in the sun. My wife got the Seafood Cobb Salad and it was definitely a dinner salad. With a good amount of both shrimp and crab, you were getting your money's worth. The seafood was fresh and not fishy at all. The house made dressing was light and creamy, giving the salad a unique For my meal, I got the Pulled Pork and Bison Sandwich with French fries. The toasted bun was fluffy on the inside, but did not let the combination of pork and bison make the rest of the sandwich soggy, The meat was tender and bursting with flavor from the BBQ sauce; which was sweet and tangy. The raw red onion added on gave a nice crunch and contrast to the soft meat. The fries were salted perfectly and crispy on the outside.

Donovan H.

Yelp
We went to the spots as a walk-in and we liked that they had karaoke good size for kids menu in the service was pretty quick delicious food

Clayton E.

Yelp
My fiance and I came in for after dinner drinks and were very displeased by our beverages. We ordered two different drinks but you wouldn't have known by tasting them. She had the painkiller and I ordered the Mai Tai, but both drinks just tasted like a glass full of cheap rum. If that's what you're looking for then this is the spot for you. However, we were very disappointed with our decision to get drinks here. We left after a few sips because the drinks could not be enjoyed.

Monty D.

Yelp
When El Galleon's website states "Eat Drink Sing", they are not kidding. Currently, they are open from noon until 9 pm. But it's the evening that this restaurant comes to hopping life. This is the time that the saying in my pic "Karaoke Headquarters" gets traction. You'll hear the enthusiasm from the boardwalk. I'm not a singer, so you'll have to visit to see how well they set up karaoke. But I do fashion myself as a great boardwalk sitter. You can see from my other pic, the boardwalk seating. I've spent may times on those seats. There is a great view of boardwalk, people watching and the harbor.
