Where to Eat and Drink in and Around Lakeview

"El Gato Negro, a multi-location local chain with a Lakeview presence, delivers fresh takes on Mexican favorites like burritos, fajitas and tacos stuffed into your choice of flour, wheat or corn tortillas. Up the game with table-side ceviche and guacamole. Ask for a gluten-free menu if you are so inclined." - Beth D'Addono

This place was recommended by a few different ppl that I work with. My shift decided to come after work and I am so glad that we did. The Margaritas were amazing, I had the Watermelon and Strawberry Dream. The Guacomole was soo good and they make it right in front of u. The rice and beans are authentic. I got the enchilada tri plate and a fish and shrimp burrito to go. I will def come back.

El Gato Negro in Lakeview is always a great choice! The margaritas are delicious, and the food never disappoints. Started with the stuffed poblano pepper, and had brisket tacos and black angus ground chuck tacos—just a light dinner, but we enjoyed every bite. I’ve been here a few times, and the quality is consistently excellent. Highly recommend!

First time visiting this place even though I’ve heard of it before. I just want to say that it feels almost like you’re in Mexico! The food here was amazing and the drinks are awesome too! Highly recommend the pineapple Cilantro Margarita! For the dish I got the Mixed grill which consists of Perfectly seasoned Lamb Chops, Grilled chicken, large Shrimp, and Skirt steak! I read that the owner is Juan, and I just want to say thank you Juan for bringing the Michoacán Flavors to New Orleans! Will be visiting again! Que viva La raza! 🇲🇽 🇭🇳! (From Honduran)!

The food portions were large and the flavors were good. Can park on the street. A bit overpriced tho.

You need to try their Watermelon Margaritas! 😍 And they have one one the prettiest courtyard in town! Perfect for a evening drink! Also don’t forget to try their in-house made tortillas for their tacos, especially when combined with with their skirt steak tacos 🌮

Visibly watched an employee wash trash cans on the curb, and leave this garbage from them in the street. This photo was taken several hours after seeing the cans being washed, in an attempt to give fair time to address. Disgusting. The least your business can do is pick up your trash, besides moving your rancid garbage cans blocking the sidewalk multiple days a week.

Very overpriced Mexican food. My friend paid $22 for her steak burrito and my single chicken taco was $5. The food was fine but there’s so many fees & policies that make it not worth it to come here (No split checks & card use fee plus upcharges for any toppings on the tacos… basically just comes with meat and a tortilla unless you pay extra). Margaritas tasted fine, but were not very strong. Highlight was the queso fundido!

Two tacos w cilantro and cheese in separate dish was $17 and Margarita in a tea glass with too much ice was $10. Food was good but a little spicy. I'll pass next time.
