El Gato Negro Tapas Liverpool

My friend and I visited El gato on a Friday evening for supper 🍽. Its both our first visit to this eatery. Upon arrival the staff were welcoming and directed us to our prebooked table. The decor within the restaurant is lovely and there's a nice atmosphere. The staff who served us were very polite and attentive. Our orders were taken promptly. Regarding the food 😋 it's really nice ,everything we ordered was really tasty better than average. The menu isn't huge so there's limited choice, however what they do offer is very good. I will definitely revisited this restaurant. The drinks 🍸 are very pricey though, I think £46 of our bill was for 2 cocktails and a carafe of sangria! Overall though, it's a really great place to eat and drink 🍸 and I'd definitely recommend this eatery.

The experience was pretty average overall. Service was a bit mixed - our waitress was lovely but we had been served three of our dishes before we even got our drinks which wasn’t ideal The food was okay, the standard is much higher at other tapas restaurants I’ve been to - the prawns were pretty overcooked. We didn’t complain about this so I don’t know whether they would have fixed this if we asked. (However I will say the harissa chicken and the beef short rib were really good). The restaurant was very nice inside. It kind of felt a bit style over substance, and was quite expensive for what it was. I wouldn’t return personally

Without doubt the best Spanish food I've tasted outside Spain. Excellent tasty and beautifully presented. Great staff. Really genuine friendly service. Pricing spot on unlike the other Spanish tapas place down the Hill 🌒. We would be happy to bring anyone visiting from Spain (there's not many places you'd say that about). We had three dishes each then re-ordered twice more because it was so good. Beautiful wine as well. Our visit here will definitely motivate us to return to Liverpool sooner rather than later.

Our first time. We ordered the Catalan bread, broccoli, meatballs, short rib and bikini. Plus two pitchers of red sangria. The food and sangria were excellent. The star was the short rib. The staff was excellent. I highly recommend this place for tapas.

For me, it is the best Spanish food restaurant in Liverpool. The dishes were amazing, everything very tasty and well prepared. The place was well decorated, inviting. The service was great, all servers were very friendly. The only issue was the price, we thought it was a bit expensive given the portion sizes. Apart from that we really recommend it! We will be back! Thank you! 🇪🇸❤️❤️❤️

Haven’t been here since it moved location and I have to say that it’s much better! The new location is much cozier with better decor + atmosphere. Food has also improved with the tortilla now being made fresh every time. Loved the courgette flower but I would like to see more vegetarian options - maybe croquettes or something similar. Would have ordered more food but ran out of things to order!

Fantastic Tapas restaurant! The atmosphere and decor are super cool and the food was out of this world. Great service too - very welcoming. We loved it!
