The 19 Best Restaurants In Anaheim - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"From the outside, El Gaucho looks like a regular old convenience store. Inside, you’ll find a colorful market filled with imported Central and South American specialties. There’s a full butcher shop too, but if you're hungry, head to the deli counter off to the right. That's where you’ll find giant, flaky empanadas (the chicken is a must), plus Argentinian sandwiches like skirt steak, the beef and ham-topped chivito, and our favorite, the grilled choripán. Head to the adjacent TV room afterward—it's painted like the interior of a sports stadium—and enjoy your haul while watching fútbol with extremely passionate regulars." - brant cox

Simple meal. The meat is good. First time trying this spot. Spent about $15-20 for a sandwich, chips and drink. I'm assuming one is paying for the quality of the meat. I asked for a type of salsa to go with the meal and the lady offered me Tapatio. I almost lost my ish. I asked for a similar salsa another client was having. Must of been a usual, some who works there or that they know. Cuz she said you have to purchase the salsa which I was cool with. I went to the Carneceria area and ask for salsa and he was trying to sell me a whole container. I was dumbfounded.

Google
Part butcher shop, part restaurant — and both parts amazing. The grilled steak and chimichurri sandwich is one of my favorites in the whole county. They also sell Argentine empanadas that taste just like home. Super friendly staff and relaxed outdoor seating. Great spot to grab meats for BBQs too. Definitely a local secret.

El Gaucho Meat Market in Redondo Beach is an absolute gem for any meat lover! From the moment I stepped inside, I was welcomed by the enticing aroma of fresh cuts and a friendly atmosphere. The selection of meats is truly impressive, featuring everything from premium steaks to sausages and marinated options perfect for grilling. I decided to try their ribeye steak, and it was phenomenal! The quality was top-notch, and the flavor was incredible once I grilled it at home. The staff was knowledgeable and eager to help with recommendations and cooking tips, making the entire experience even better. In addition to the meats, they also offer a variety of delicious homemade marinades and sides that beautifully complement any meal. The prices are reasonable for the exceptional quality you receive, making it a great value. If you're in Redondo Beach and looking for a fantastic meat market, El Gaucho is the place to go. I can’t wait to return and stock up on more delicious cuts!

Google
Nice clean market with South American snacks and sandwiches. They have a large variety of fresh meat. I got some snacks along with some sandwiches and empanada. Sandwiches are made with French style bread. The meat in the sandwiches were good. I'll definitely go back for the sandwiches and will get meat to cook at home. A patron said he always come here to buy meat to cook at home; they have really good meat. I really liked the chicken and potato empanada and the Lomo steak sandwich. The Argentina sausage reminds of me portuguese sausage, tasty.

Google
The nicest South American speciality market in Southern California, they have a selection of goods from Argentina, Peru, Chile, Uruguay, Colombia and all of Latin America. The empanadas are delicious and the Lomito sandwich was soft, tender and worth the try I was blown away.

Google
A magical and outstanding surprise -- the best meat market I've found so far in Redondo, Manhattan Beach and surrounding areas. This isn't to say it's got everything I'd need, but the charm and the quality is night-and-day better than anywhere else around.

Google
I went to this new spot and ordered a steak sandwich from Andrew the nicest person that greeted me. I never had a butterfly steak sandwich that was tender and juicy, the bite was easy no pull like most steak sandwiches. I will be back for the greatest customer service from Andrew.

Yelp
Good overall experience! Had spicy beey, sweet beef and tuna empanadas. Price was fair. Good selection of market items as well. Would return of we are paying by in the future.

Yelp
I had a breaded chicken sandwich with the spinach and spicy chicken empanadas and they were bomb! I didn't wait more than 10 mins for my food and I went during weekday lunch rush. They have a small seating area inside the market where you order food. If you want food + groceries, I recommend you go to the back left and order, then shop and pay for food + groceries at the front. If you only want food, order, then pay in the front, and return to the back to get your food :) Shared parking lot but it's spacious

Yelp
I love Argentinean empanadas! There baked, filling & delicious! They look very similar to Filipino empanadas. Which is also my fav. Staff is nice . This is also a mini market/ meat market. One stop shop :)

Yelp
7/24/24 Just a quick perusal! Walked in & walked out in about 5 minutes, enough to take a few photos of what the place has to offer. They make sandwiches here & have about 5 tables with chairs to enjoy your order. There are additional outdoor seating, too. The small store with the small meat/deli offers quality meats. My girlfriend said their chorizo is really good. Looking at how the shop is maintained, it appears to be well cared for. The aisles & shelves are very organized & neat. Next time we're in the neighborhood, will buy to try their chorizo.

Yelp
El Gaucho Market was a random choice for our catering. I'm happy to say we were excited to try and a little nervous only because it's a market and not your usual restaurant. They did not disappoint. They sell yummy empanadas chicken, beef and spinach. Also tried their sandwiches. Their meat is great quality and the gentlemen was sweet enough to help me carry my food to the car. I'm sad to say I didn't get any photos. Only reason why I give 3 starts was because it was a bit difficult to place order over phone since I do not speak Spanish. Once the woman got help, I was able to place order clearly. Upon arrival I asked the woman if I can have 13 plates she gave me 6 or 7 lol. I would have paid extra but didn't seem like she wanted to. The inside is just like a market so not really a restaurant feel. Please not I'm mixed with Mexican so nothing towards the woman on the phone. I just need to practice my Spanish more LOL. I def recommend to try this for your random lunch craving.

Yelp
First time at El Gaucho, and I ordered a dozen empanadas (beef, chicken, spinach-cheese) to go. Pretty affordable at $29.99. It took a while to get the food, but taste-wise, they were chock-full of filling and overall, solid and enjoyable!
google avatar

Yelp
Customer service was amazing. Interesting flavor from other empanadas that I've tried. In both the beef and chicken there was half of a boiled egg and one large green olive. The bold flavor I'm accustomed too wasn't there, they were missing that (close my eyes and say mmmm comment upon first bite!) Either way, they have a variety of food options for you to try and again, customer service was amazing!

Yelp
Yoooo the empanadas here are sooooooo good! Was in the area to do some work and stopped by this place for lunch. Haven't had empanadas in a while and figured I'd give them a try. Man... the exterior is baked perfectly. Had the spicy beef and chicken (prefer the beef) and they were full of flavor and good amount of stuffing. I gotta becareful bc if I don't self regulate my wallet will get lighter and my belly heavier Muchas Gracias!

Yelp
Very well and flavorful empanadas. Spicy beef with their chimichurri sauce is amazing.

Yelp
La comida buena, pero el servicio de algunos empleados deja mucho que desear, lamentable.

Yelp
Improve the training for the carniceria. Either hire someone that understands Argentine meats and knows how to cut it, or train them.

Yelp
I love this place. All kinds of different interesting Latin American fare. My favorites are the empanadas which they make fresh daily, the ready to go Ham sandwiches and the flan is out of this world.
google avatar

Lily M.

Yelp
Great food, fresh, and price is reasonable. The meats and chorizos were delicious. Clean and workers friendly, ready to help you with your orders

Yelp
The spinach empanadas were bomb. A friend got a few for me and I was not disappointed.

Camille G.

Yelp
Love this place! Every time I visit LA, I make sure to stop in and get a chivito (aka lomito)! Tony and Abel are great!
google avatar

Amar K.

Yelp
Meat is amazing! People are very friendly and always enjoy my visits. Their empanadas are simply the best in all of LA!!
google avatar

Keesha F.

Yelp
Sometimes there's greatness in simplicity, and the Lomito Sandwich is just that! Tender beef, lettuce, tomatoes and sauce/Mayo. I add chimichurri to all my Argentinian sandwiches cuz they're mine and I can-plus their chimichurri situation is top tier!! The empanadas are also delicious! Always crowded whenever I'm there but they do a great job of getting you in and out! P.S. The Milanesa sandwich is deliciously delicious but fried so the Lomita is a perfect choice when you're trying to 'Unfat your Back,' like I am lol!

Yelp
El Gaucho is a popular place for local South Bay residents. They're a meat market most known for their empanadas. They are so delicious and are always a hit when I bring them into the office as a treat for the team. My favorite empanada flavor has to be either the spicy beef or the beef and potato! Hot tip: Make sure to get their homemade chimichurri! You can find them at the entrance of the market in the refrigerated section. They pair beautifully with the empanadas. Instagram: @jessgoeat

Yelp
Best empinadas!!! Great service! I love their beef and potato Empinadas! Great selection of foods and their sandwiches are delicious.

Yelp
I go here for my mate all the time. You can also load up in dulce de leche, alfajores, savora, stakes. You name it!
google avatar

Val B.

Yelp
Bought a whole "vacio" and it was spoiled. Maybe the plastic bag given by the store wasn't the best to preserve the meat during transit or it was already bad.
google avatar

Tan T.

Yelp
My go to place for skirt steak sandwiches and empanadas. This place is legit. It's fun going for lunch when there's a football game since there will be plenty of people there to watch. I haven't needed Argentine groceries but they have the same brands I saw on a trip to Buenos Aires to it seems quite legit.
google avatar

Shirley W.

Yelp
Hubby read that Argentinian meat is the best so came here to check it out. Wasn't sure if their meats were from Argentina but the house made chorizo sausages were delicious. I also liked the empanadas - they have chicken, beef, spinach, and tuna. We didn't get the tuna but the other 3 were delicious - filled fully with tasty meats and spinach was good too!

Yelp

Yelp
Came back after a few years and decided to give the Costillas and Morcilla another shot but it was still not good and will probably not try them a third time. I did try the sausages this time and thought they were really good. My new favorite item from here. The skirt steak (entraña) was still good. I was also pleasantly surprised by their Mesquite Charcoal. Sometimes I buy these bags at other locations (same brand) and get a lot of small lumps instead of the larger logs. The bag I bought from here was almost all logs of charcoal which was a first for me in all the years of buying the same brand of charcoal. I'll definitely buy it from here moving forward. Pros: + Sausages + Entraña (skirt steak) + Vacio (bavette steak) + Alfajores + Chicken Empanadas + Mesquite Charcoal Cons: - Morcilla (blood sausage) - Costillas (short ribs) - Chinchulín (beef intestine)

Yelp
LOVE this place! Empanadas - wow! Meat market - excellent! Lots of great products you won't find in a regular grocery store. It's much more than a meat market, it's El Gaucho! Look, I'm a gringo and don't know much about about latin grocery stores, products or carnicerias, but know I like everything I've purchased here. Solid 4 stars, I'll be back!

Cheryl T.

Yelp
I've been coming here for many years and love their sandwiches and empanadas. They sell fresh bread which is amazing! If you haven't been here before, you might think it's just a meat market. It's a good sized market with a variety or sandwiches and empanadas and more. The service is great and is much faster if you don't come during lunch hour. The people are nice and friendly as well. I would rate it 5 stars but I wish when purchasing different empanadas, they would mark which are which. I had to cut all three different empanadas and check inside. I was giving some to my Mom and wish I didn't have to cut them. Other than that, the market is great with so many items to choose from. Usually this place gets packed and people watch games and eat inside.
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
for the CHICKEN EMPANADAS. Consistently delicious. For years I have shared these empanadas with strangers, friends, family, my clients and everyone loves them. The best!!
google avatar

Joyce D.

Yelp
They have a small and a large option for their sandwhiches. Small sandwiches are typically $5.99 and large being $7.99. Whether you order a small or large it comes with a small bag of chips. The bread tasted a bit stale on the sandwhich. However the meat was grilled and seasoned just right. The plaza can get busy as its located next to the Chicken Maison and 99 Cent Store. The sandwhich shopnis connected to the market. I had gotten to-go so you order at the counter, they call out your number when your order is ready, and then they have you pay at the checkout register at the market.
google avatar

Anjanette R.

Yelp
Empanadas we're good, but the experience was bad. The tall lady at the register forgot to put in our order so we sat for over 30mins as we watched others who ordered after us by over 10mins getting the same order as us handed to them right away. It's 4pm, y'all sell empanadas, how is it you ran out???? I keep here a lot and so does my family and friends. Today was terrible experience. Terrible. Came back to do an update, i was feeling sick after i ate. So i decided to nap and woke up still feeling nauseous. The empanadas was the only thing i ate. My man ate the chicken and beef. I ate the spinach. I threw up so much. Do not get the spinach or idk what the EFF was up with these people but terrible experience :(

Yelp
I just buy empanadas and they are great! Order by phone or you will have to wait awhile if you order in store.

Yelp

Barbara S.

Yelp
The most amazing empanadas I've ever had. Really great flavor, and nice crisp on the outside of it. I love the beef and olive flavor. They charge a reasonable price for one, too.   The staff are also very friendly

Leo F.

Yelp
i've been coming here for a while, but after trying out other places it made me realize el gaucho has the best empanadas, always fresh and they serve you quick

Yelp
First time here, great experience... helpful service by all who worked here at the time of my visit. Fresh cuts, Sausages/Chorizo, deli meats, etc... all good my friends!! The kicker hear was the freshly made Empenada's.. "Delicious", but what do I know, take a drive and see for yourselves Definitely coming back for more and will definitely venture in trying the Argentine favorite I have never tried... what's the harm in trying something new, when everything that was recommended from here was delicious
google avatar

Ana K.

Yelp
It's nice market, meat shop, and small bakery. I went there for the Argentinian empanadas I tried the spinach, my husband tried spicy chicken and beef. I'll give the empanadas 5/10.I grab a grill chicken sandwich 5/10 and hubby tried Entrana sandwich 4/10. The service was good. Clean big indoor sitting and outdoor too. Nice community spot watch games.
google avatar

Lily O.

Yelp
Love everything about this place. I've been coming here for years now and I can't get enough of their lomito sandwich. That one is my favorite. They also have Argentine pastries. I can't resist the alfajores and the cañoncitos. They always have my favorite beer, Quilmes in stock! So, how can I not love this place ?
google avatar

Trickshot K.

Yelp
If you're looking for a decent yet, authentic Argentinan restaurant this here is the place, from many options they have great food and overall service is kind. The place is decorated as a natural gaucho market, but the reason for not 5 stars is being one, prices are overly priced.
google avatar

Susana B.

Yelp
I always come to this place because it's a local market close to my house and they sell a lot of Venezuelan stuff which I love because I am originally from there, I am leaving this review because is the SECOND TIME, not the first, THE SECOND TIME I go and purchased the same item and it's like this! Seriously?????? You guys need keep an eye on the quality of the products you're selling. It says it's not expired but I don't know what to think since is the second time that happens to me. It's really sad because I go here very often. Tomorrow I will definitely go and get my money back!!!!

Yelp
BLACK MAN ACCUSED OF STEALING BY THE OWNER. Just had a TERRIBLE experience here. I wanted to come in and simply buy 3 empanadas and a drink. One lady wrote down my order, pointed at someone else, and said that they will take care of me. A few minutes later, the person who supposed to help me comes up to me and says "what can I get you?" Im immediately upset. Why would I have to repeat something that I know was written down and given to you? After writing down my order a second time and seeing that I was upset and telling her why I was upset, she turned around and saw my ticket order hanging above the stove. After she said sorry, she told me to calm down, which made me even more upset since she was the one who made the mistake. I end up going up to the register to ring up my order, no issues here, until I asked for a cup of ice and chimichurri sauce. The same lady that I spoke to when I first walked in walked me over to the counter where the meats are prepped and asked a lady behind the counter in Spanish for the sauce and for the ice. The lady then asked me "what kind of sauce would you like, regular or spicy?". I said "both". She then proceeded to wave her hand towards the lady behind the counter, making a gesture that she would help me...I immediately became worried due to the first interaction from the other lady who helped me with the empanadas. The lady ended up making me a cup of ice, looking at me with confusion, poured the ice out, and gave me a smaller cup of ice. I don't understand why the hell you would do that. I told her that I wanted the other cup and I quickly realized that there was a language barrier. After realizing this I became even more upset at the lady who walked me over to the counter....she spoke perfect English. You would think that she would know that the employees behind the counter would need some help because of this instead of walking away, but what do I know. At this point I'm pretty furious. There's nothing more frustrating than something that could have been so easy that had to made so difficult. To top this experience off, I was accused of by the non-English speaking women working behind the counter of STEALING the food that I PAID for. An old man who I believe is the owner came out to my car, knocked on my window, and asked if I paid for my food. When I was walked back inside I said I'm never coming back here again, this has been absolutely terrible." That same old man accused me AGAIN and told me to my face "YOU ARE TROUBLE". This was right before the lady who rung up my food looked at him and said "No he paid already!" This racist asshole then puts his hand on my shoulder and says "I'm sorry my friend" and I immediately pushed his hand off of my shoulder. It's so sad when you walk into a place with high hopes and leave highly disappointed. All that I ever ask as black man, as a HUMAN, to be treated like a paying customer should be treated. Never coming back here again.
