Pozole, menudo, chicharrónes, breakfast 🍳, desayunos, tamales, tacos 🌮, burritos, 🌯 you name it. Staff is awesome. Easy to order. Next to the Metro 🚇 Red Line Santa Monica / Vermont Station 🚉, and stops to the 4, 704, 204, & 754 bus lines. You can order a whole roasted chicken 🐔, or half with side orders. Prices are great for everything they offer.

Wonderful burrito joint, best al pastor burritos on the planet, still super cheap (though not $3 anymore), wide selection of meats and stews, everything right there in front of you. All the folks that have worked there over the years are friendly and accomodating. Wonderful salsa bar, kept well stocked -- those zanahorias are amazing. Indoor & outdoor seating. Has to handle a wide, shall we say, variety of clientele who stumble in off the street (including me), and they do their best. They tolerate my bad Spanish without rolling their eyes. Actually has parking in back. They've experimented with chicken in recent years. The neighborhood joint of my dreams. Perfect adjunct to LACC down the block. Kind of rambling and sprawling, but that's part of its charm. Can't wait for the virus to end so I can get back there.

Read in the LA Times, this spot won't be around soon! So sad, been coming here since late 90s and have really enjoyed watching it grow. Come while it's open. Cash only, but worth it.

The food is really good but the only major down side of this spot is that it's only cash

I got a new job around the area and I decided to stop and give it a try-big mistake. I began to go there in July of 2016. I ordered a whole grilled chicken ($12) and stayed with that flavor-tasty chicken. Then about August of the same year they raised the price to $13 for a whole chicken. I continued to go for the taste. Then in early September they raised the price to $14 for the whole chicken. Then I went back in mid October and they raised the price to $15 for a whole grilled chicken. At this point I felt they were greedy to the extreme. Not only that but since my visit in October I noticed that they are shady with the chicken. They cut in a way were they are not really giving you the whole chicken. Last night at 7pm on November 30, 2016 I ordered a whole chicken and I asked the cook to give me all the pieces from the same chicken - he did not, 1/4 of a chicken breast was missing. It pissed me off. On this same night I ordered a second drink and I paid with a $20 bill after my meal and the lady did not tell me I was paying with a $20 bill, because I thought I had given her $1.50, but the cashier did not have the decency to let me know, she kept the money. You might ask why did I keep going to this place? Well is on my way to home from work, simply convenience and the chicken is tasty , but not tasty enough to deal with the abuse. Abuse with a smile. I will never go back. The staff abused my trust and they are shady. Bunch of thieves. I took some colleagues of mines there, but never again. The place is dirty also.

People calling this bad Mexican food have little or no experience exploring LA's hundreds of Mexican eateries. The food is NOT bad at all; it just isn't really good. However, the value is quite good. You can buy a really good burrito elsewhere that will leave you so bloated you can't move for an hour and pay $12 and up, or get a somewhat smaller yet very satisfying burrito here for less than $5. Most nights, they have a taco stand outside, selling tacos that are every bit as satisfactory as the burritos. The roast on a pineapple upright rotisserie pork (whatever it's called in Mexico) is better than the other meats, which are all at least fair, the vegetable fixings are fresh and there at the stand they have wells of fabulous salsa. And as anyone familiar with Mexican food knows, salsa counts more toward taste than does the other fixings, and El Gran Burrito has bar-none the best spicy red salsa I've ever had. The green salsa even has a bite to it and is very tasty. Who gives a crap about decor? If you really need to sit down and eat there, go to the outdoor patio if you don't like the interior, or get it to go and eat your burrito in a park. People don't go to El Gran Burrito for the ambiance, but for good food at a good price.

Good burritos and gorditas to be had here. Consistently tasty and haven’t been disappointed. That said if you are looking for nice ambiance and clean and tidy restaurant/food stand surroundings this is probably not the place for you. For the more lax and those with no lofty expectations for sparkling surrounding then I would recommend giving this place a try.

Maybe I have a bias, but I've been born and raised on the corner of the street. The culmination of this restaurant has been a food truck to its current standing. Always, ALWAYS, has had good burritos, tacos, etc. I no longer live in the LA area but i still make the drive to stop by for a fat burrito with extra red sauce. Highly recommend to at least try once. Always good food and great service. The cashier on the nightshift is the homegirl ❤
