El Güero Canelo Restaurant

What can I say that already hasn't been said about this place. A true American success story not just in his enterprising character and vision but also to his awesome way of cooking delicious food. I'd seen plenty of TV shows where he was on and was showcasing his food. I finally got to try it and it was well worth it. The condiments bar was fabulous!. You name it, they have it. And FRESH!!! We both had different versions of the Sonoran hot Dog. Both were delicious. Everything about them was spot on. All the flavors complemented everything and were well balanced. Nothing was overpowering. The last bite was as good as the first bite. Once you start adding the garnishes then you can make it what ever you want. My hat is off to Mr. Contreras! The American dream is still alive and he is living testimony of it. I look forward to going many times and enjoying the flavors of Sonora at your restaurant.

First time trying a sonoran dog and loved it. We also had some horchata and it tasted like the cinnamon was freshly ground. The food was a good value, and there was a bar of salsas, roasted peppers and onions, and pickled items.

Food was good but very expensive! This is a restaurant where you need to know how to order otherwise you can easily spend over $100 for a family of 5. It would've been nice if the guy at the register guided me a bit when I asked for specials! After receiving my tab of 100 + I took another look at the menu I didn't want the price of the food keep us away from this place. I guess they sell meat by the pound so next time I'll order that instead of individual tacos for $4 + each.

You know they talk about "Life's little mysteries"? Well for me, one of those mysteries is why do people feel like this is one of the best, if not THE best Sonoran Hot Dog in Tucson. It is not, and it's not even close. I moved to Tucson from NYC back in the Spring (and I am not comparing it to a NYC pushcart frank, as they are two totally different things). Prior to moving here, I've been here numerous times since 2018. And I've had many SHD, from EGC, to BKs, to numerous carts and trucks in the city. This is my honest assessment. I can get dogs from four random places...the cart on 36th and Park, the one on Park and Irvington, the spot on Alvernon between Grant and Speedway, the Rancheros meat market on Speedway near Pantano, and they are ALL better than EGCs hot dog. By far. This is not to say that EGC does not serve good food. I really like their tacos and burritos. But their "bread and butter" is wayyyy lacking. I wish I could put my finger on it. I do know that their (assumingly) steamed buns have this "microwaved" consistency to them once you get them home. I dunno...maybe the hot dog itself is substandard, bring the rest of the ingredients down with it? I just know that it is not the Gold Standard people will have you believe it is. You can get a better SHD almost anywhere than here.

The food is somewhat on the pricier side $40 for a caramelo, a burro, a hot dog and horchata The workers were extremely friendly and everything was really clean. The food lack some depth of flavor. Its a Tucson staple but even then 3/5 ⭐️ Not bad not excellent but fair

I ate here for the first time a couple days ago and the food was AMAZING! It was recommended to me by a customer at work and I just placed another order tonight. The price point is amazing and the food is just phenomenal!

Hot Dogs where not that good, services was the only good thing about it, got a flat tire in this big pothole, don’t recommend this place don’t know if the other ones are in this condition but it’s not safe to drive even worst if you are walking in this parking lot.
