El Gustazo Empanadas Restaurant

Tried El Gustazo for the first time and enjoyed it! The empanadas were fresh, tasty, and served at the perfect temperature. The carne molida con arroz had a unique texture—more like pulled beef—but was flavorful and definitely better than fast food. I'd go back to try more dishes!

Ordered in person calentado with chicken we don’t eat red meat got home to see they put it with steak!!!

I order from here quite often, they do a good job of always getting the order correct and their lunch special is a good deal. I typically go for the pernil or sobrebarriga. The empanadas are also good.

Place looked clean....it was uncomfortably hot....food wasn't bad...I ordered the Carne asada with white rice,beets and avocado...I was about to finish my rice when I saw the hair...it was too late ...I did not say anything just paid and walked out ...I won't be going back ...that's a big turn-off...I went back against my better judgment and I shouldn't have...I waited 7 minutes to be seated and in the picture I'm posting of the 3 that work there you will get an idea as to why it takes up to 20 minutes for them to even come and get your order...talking all the time ....the 3 of them...lo que se pasan es hablando y coven una eternidad para atender los clientes...y para pagar lo mismo ...terrible no vuelvo mas ni le recomiendo a nadie que vaya...

Stumbled across this restaurant while visiting the Flushing area today. The prices were good, 10-20$ for a lunch special. The portion size was large and the food was flavorful and delicious. The staff were very friendly; I'm learning Spanish and I was able to practice with our hostess, although they do speak great English. It was a bit hot in the store, and the music they were playing cut out while we were there for some reason.

Delicious food as always at this neighborhood spot. We love getting their calentados and coffee. The plantain soup was also super delicious. Everything is reasonably priced.

On April 10, 2023 gone with my friend to eat lunch at this restaurant. We had rice, beans, half of chick with salad & avocado. Food was delicious. Recommend to eat here if you’re in the neighborhood. Everyone Bon Appetite! Eat Hearty!

They have so many different choices here like a diner would. Small tight space but food is one of the best latin food in flushing. The empanadas are fresh. Service can improve a bit but overall great ecperience.

We wanted to try something new and came across this spot in Flushing. When we entered at 11 am, the restaurant was packed. We ordered a Colombian Soda, one chicken empanada, one beef empanada, Huevos Pericos con Arepa, Queso y Mantequilla, and Calenteado con Carne a la Plancha y Pericos. The Colombian Soda was different from popular flavors in the US; it had a bubblegum flavor to it. The salsa that came with the empanadas was amazing. It had a little spice to it and just hit the spot. The salsa was so addicting. The eggs in both dishes were great, but overall the Calenteado con Carne a la Plancha y Pericos stood out more. The steak in the Calenteado con Carne a la Plancha y Pericos was flavorful and a nice piece. Overall, we would go back to try other menu items and their empanadas and salsa again. Their menu featured a variety of different dishes, as well as special dishes depending on the day of the week.

My favorite empanada spot in Flushing! Phone orders can be a little disorganized because they sea with walk-in's at the same time but don't give up it's worth it. Service is quick and good. The hot sauce is a chefs kiss!

Good to have some Colombian food in flushing to differentiate from the Asian dishes. $15 for bandeja paisa is my goto.

The food here was delicious. The atmosphere and service was welcoming. If you want a nice bowl of chicken soup, this is your place. I had the roasted pork and it was savory.

I been coming here for years since I'm a huge fan of their empanadas. They have change the name but the food has never changed. I have also gotten the food and it's pretty good but what keeps making me come back is the beef empanadas. I'm Colombian and I have to say this place makes the best Colombian empanadas in NYC. Every time I come here I have to pick up several.

This is a really special place for me, I made a memory here. I just came by this place with my friend and its our favorite place. The arroz con pollo was so good and it was just seasoned nicely. The empanadas are a MUST! They're so good and they were seasoned just right, the chicken empanadas are one of the best things they have here. Their chicken soup was also really good. The staff were friendly. We tipped extra at this place because of how good the food was, its good quality cheap food! :) You won't dislike this place, its a literal hole in the wall.

Breakfast was good . Had the calentado with steak and huevo pericos. Coffee was on point too. Definitely a hole in the wall with amazing food and the staff and cooks were friendly .

Mediocre at best....service I would rate at minus 2 stars...first time I went there, there was a hair in my food...I left a review on Google..this time I was near by and figured let me give it another chance...I walked in and restaurant was not busy at all...only one gentleman eating and 2 waitresses one sitting at the box playing with her phone the other talking to other workers...I stood there for about 5 minutes and decided to sit down at any table..was looking at the menu on my phone because no one had come to the table..4 men walk in and the one waitress that was talking to the other workers gave them menus and asked if they wanted anything to drink...she came back with there drinks and went back to talking..iwaited a few more minutes got up went to herald thanked her for the great service that she provides the customers with...she looked at me confused and I said I feel the same way confused...I've been waiting here for 15 minutes and nothing...thanks again and have a nice day...she was mumbling and nothing...I will never come back here and I suggest that if you want to have a nice dining experience avoid this place at all cost

If you're looking for a cheap, quick, filling meal, this is your place! Nothing fancy here. Most of the customers look like regulars, coming in from a mid day break from hard labor to get a hearty meal to keep them going through the rest of their day. The food seems very authentic, and judging by their customers, it's probably the best you're going to get in the area. The space is small and a bit dingy, but you don't come here for the decor. I got the meat platter and empanadas to share among two people which was plenty. The platter came with chicharon, steak, rice and beans, sweet plaintains, and corn cakes. Also had the beef and cheese empanadas which I really liked. The chicharon needed to be fried a touch longer because it was very chewy since the fat wasn't rendered long enough. The rice and beans were very satisfying and my bf liked the thin steak even though I'm usually not a fan. Altogether, the meal came out to about $17 and we left stuffed. I'd come back to try their soups that other customers looked like they were enjoying.

Omgosh the empanadas are so good! I ordered breakfast (an egg platter with bacon and a western omelet platter) and a few empanadas, I ended up going back for several more beef and chicken empanadas within the hour. SO DELICIOUS! The guy on the grill (the owner I think) and the woman handling orders are both super nice and personable, I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area.

I live near Main Street, so when I'm craving some Spanish or Colombian food I order from here and I haven't been pet down yet. The prices are decent and the delivery time isn't too bad. Will keep ordering from here. Comida es delicioso

Delicious Colombia platters. The thick coat of seasoning on the roast chicken, the tenderness of the beef, the crunchiness of the pork. Top that off with some super soft rice and creamy beans. On to the empanadas! The chicken and beef were good but the cheese one though. It was ridiculous! Glad to finally try a place in flushing that isn't serving Asian food, very refreshing. We ordered the typical Colombian plate(actual name). It was only $13 and there was toooons of food. Steak, egg, chicharron, corn cake, beans, rice, AND plantains!! An insane amount of food and pretty tasty too. Meat was a little tough but very flavorful. My favorite here though was the beef empanada... best one I've ever had!! The crust was nice and crunchy and the inside was soft and fluffy, absolutely incredible!

I love their breakfast combo. That makes me feel good enough for whole morning. They are very soft cooked egg and coffee also tasty good. I used to go there everyday morning but since COVID-19, I am not going that much hope they will fine until everything back.

The food here is good. I love the empanadas. My favorite thing to get is the típica with grilled steak. I also love getting the grilled Chicken with arepa and cheese. They also have all the best Colombian sodas. This place is a good bang for your buck! It does get pretty busy but the employees are very nice and helpful and its worth the wait. Definitely a great neighborhood Colombian restaurant.

For a week straight, my wife literally came and bought food here every morning and after work. The empanadas here are friggin bangin! Only a buck 25 for either cheese, beef, or chicken. All three are really good but I like the cheese one the best. They make a variety of food and a majority of things we've tried so far has been surprisingly delicious. I had mostly cheese and chicken empanadas for a week straight with their zingy spicy hot sauce. We also ordered their chicharrons numerous of times because its so good here. Deep fried perfection. The skin is nice a crispy crunchy while the bottom part remains juicy and tender and not dry. We had it so many times, the lady suggested we order #78 Bandeja Tipica. It came with red beans, a flank steak, chicharron, avocados, plantains, fried egg and a corn cake. The platter wasn't bad considering its price however the steak is a bit dry due to its thin cut and the corn cake just taste horrible. Completely bland and flavorless. They also serve daily specials. So far we've only tried their Pollo BBQ served with rice and beans, plantains, and their potato salad. The chicken was decent. Nice and tender, not too dry. They give you a small container of beans. It's a lot of beans to go with your food and their potato salad is really good here. Full of ingredients, not just potato and mayo. Verdict - Tired of all the crappy Chinese lunch takeouts in Flushing? Eat some Spanish food for a change. It's so satisfying. I can eat those cheese empanadas and chicharrons all day with their hot sauce. The one thing I dislike was they're a bit cheap on the hot sauce when you ask for extra. Especially with the amount we order, we expect a little more to go with not just our empanadas, but also along with your platters. They wanted to charge a dollar for a small tiny cup of hot sauce. I found that absolutely absurd especially when they have their hot sauce free to use for those who dine in.

Their menu says "El Gustazo". Hopefully you speak Spanish otherwise good luck ordering by phone. Upon arrival the food (except the beans) wasn't hot. The chicken was bland and dry. The arepa was an insult to all arepas and to me since they thought it was ok to serve me a hockey puck. The chicharon was also dry dry dry.... Empanadas were meh. A large rice is $6.50 and it's about as much as you'd get from a Chinese food place with your food. Lol. It's rice, people. Dont be stingy with the rice. They also dont offer salsa verde. :O Overpriced for what we got. First and last time we order from them. The only good part was my family eating together.

Just went today with the boyfriend to satisfy our empanada craving...so good! FYI this place is called El Gustazo, not El Palacio. I almost went to the El Palacio de las Empanadas in Corona. Let me begin by saying that the waitress is super friendly. It's been a while since I've gotten good service at a restaurant so it was refreshing :) The restaurant itself is okay-sized. I wouldn't recommend bringing more than a party of four. Bring your cash because it's CASH ONLY! We ordered: - Bandeja Tipica, which is also called the Typical Colombian Plate (this plate was good but not mind-blowing good. I'm not a big steak person but the steak on this plate was so flavorful! The pork skin was tasty as well...mmm ^_^ Only complaint is that the beans were bland. Other than that, the rice, eggs, and maduros went well with the plate) - Chicken, beef, and cheese empanadas (I really enjoyed all of the empanadas. I loveeeeee that they have potato in their chicken and their beef empanadas. The cheese was yummy but isn't too special. However, my boyfriend's favorite empanada was the cheese. My fave was the chicken) If you ever want empanadas, you must try it here. I think it's even better than Mama's Empanadas (which is a popular choice). What amazed me was that our bill came out to just $22. We ordered the Bandeja Tipica, 6 empanadas, and 2 drinks. So worth! You will leave El Gustazo with a full tummy without emptying your wallet too much.

Ugh this place is the bomb.com ... you know it's good when you're the only Asians walking in here every time. They have a set menu that ranges from empanadas, burgers, breakfast, Colombian platters with steak, fried pork belly & fried fish, salads, & also a rotating menu that varies depending on the day of the week. Steak was a bit well done to my liking but for $14 a Colombian platter will fill two grown people. Comes with rice & beans, slice of avocado , fried egg & two meats(fried pork belly) seasoned just right and their home made salsa is soooo amazingly addictive too. Bf loves their oxtail which is available with the rotating menu. Friendly service, they have a selection of over sugared Colombian sodas that look like jarritos in the drink fridge, they do a lot of takeout/delivery service it seems. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. This place gets 4 stars for the price, food, service & variety. If you dine inside be warned the venting isn't so powerful and you may end up smelling like smoke

Decent portion and tastes good. Staff is pretty chill and not packed in there. It's pretty fast if you eat there and the delivery isn't too bad too. I usually like my delivered and the wait is okay. Reasonable prices and a few different options for food and a couple beverages. Not the best but it's still pretty authentic and for the price and convenience, this is usually my go to spot. I would recommend to check it out! Satisfy my cravings all the time

I was really disappointed by this place especially because it has so many great reviews. I live in the area and getting good food can sometimes be limiting. I ordered grilled chicken with rice and beans. The chicken was very crunchy, I threw it all out. It seemed like it was a very bad cut of chicken... the maduros were dried out and not sweet at all... tasted very old. The rice and beans were delicious and the empanadas were whatever. To me, they lacked taste. Wouldn't bother trying again.

Not as good as the reviews tbh. We ordered delivery they said about 20-25 minutes and that was correct. They were on time. We ordered Bandeja Paisas x2. The food came warm and well packaged. Nothing was spilling not even the beans which was shocking. Anywho the food was okay. Nothing crazy. Not as good as the reviews. We didnt get sick. So thats always a plus. And the lady who took our order was kind.

This is a little spot on College Point Blvd in Flushing Queens. My kids had a craving for Chicharrón; so we stopped by and ordered some "to go".. we were pleasantly SURPRISED!. Their CHICHARRÓN was EXCELENTE!!

I seriously love their empanadas. If it weren't for the fact that I rarely walk by this area, I would come here every week. I've had their typical platter as well as their chicken/beef and cheese empanadas all all were amazing. Their cheese empanadas are unlike any other ones I've had before. Theirs are cheesy and gooey and it's always piping hot. It's a small place, but the staff is nice and the food is good.

El Gustazo is actually rather terrific. The vibe is chill. Every single thing I have ever bought here has been fresh and tastes amazing. I've have never had a problem with service. Can't wait to come back to El Gustazo for more.

Unexpected ethnic food paradise. On the edge of the vast oasis of authentic east asian food that is Flushing, is this gem of a place that prepares incredibly authentic Colombian food. The chorizo, empanadas, beet salad and lentil soup are my go-to favorites that this place nails every time. The service is excellent, friendly and efficient. It is comforting to know that they can maintain this high quality even with no competition in the area (very few Colombian restaurants in Flushing compared to Woodside or Jackson Heights, for example). Parking on College Point is decent. Come by and check out the menu or ask what's good. You will be pleasantly surprised.

There aren't many Colombian restaurants in this area. This might be the only one that I know of. So when I found this place on yelp I was pretty excited I walked in and saw a small little seating area with a counter. The cashier instantly handed me a menu where there were many options to choose from. Eventually I set my eyes on the pollo asada half chicken. Everything I ate tasted very well. All the sides. The beans and the salad and the chicken. All seasoned very well. I wanted to try the empanadas but I was so full from the meal. I will definitely be back here.

I have been working in Flushing for just over two years now. While there are ample Chinese food dining establishments, there is not much of anything else. After two years, I finally discovered this gem, less than a mile away from my office. A coworker told me she gets food delivered all the time on the weekends. Wanting to try anything new we took the trek to El Gustazo. She told me that they are famous for their delicious empanadas. At $1.25 each how could you not get all three?? Started off with the chicken which was absolutely outstanding. Slow pulled chicken tucked in a corn based pillow dough. The next empanada I picked up was the carne. Same consistency as the pollo. The last one I had was the queso. Hands down the best out of the three. One bite in and I was in mozzarella heaven. The cheese came oozing out, ugh my mouth is watering just thinking about it. I also tried some of the tostones that my coworker ordered. They were huge pieces of green plantains perfectly fried and mashed. They came served with a side of garlic hot sauce. Not too spicy for my taste.

Thr place is no longer called this. Its now PALACIO DE LAS EMPANADAS. Same address. They open very early like 5am early. I went there to grab some empanadas. I think their empanadas are great with the hot sauce. The place is small and the staff is nice. Overall the price is great.

This is not one of those Baskin-Robbins of empanada with 31 flavors (like at Mama & Papa). Nope, just plain good fried beef empanada. They have other food here but I only tried the empanada. Rated 4/5. Tip: The store awning reads BURGER EXPRESS so don't get confused; I did.

Their beef empanadas will forever have my heart!!! The space has been updated to meet covid-19 regulations and has even built an outside seating area to eat.

This place provides amazing service and the food is really good! I thank God for the person who dropped off menus at my door! So far the quality of the foods I've purchased have been great! I'm fighting cancer and sometimes I don't have the energy to cook so I'm really happy with this place!

If you're Colombian & miss that authentic Colombian meal I highly recommend & even if your not & what to try something new this is the place for you. Their empanadas are unmatched, chicharrón (fried pork belly) rice & beans are delicious & their soups are so yummy. Not to mention the prices are very reasonable & affordable. When I go there I feel that small business family run warmth & hospitality that makes you feel like part of their family.

This place is by far the best and most culturally authentic Colombian food you can find in Queens. The portions are super generous and the food quality is super tasty. The restaurant itself is super clean and sanitary, the ladies who take your orders are always super nice. Make sure you go give their empanadas a try, and also try my personal favorite dish it's called the "Typical Dish" or "Bandeja paisa". You won't regret it!

Its a home like food. Friendly service and not too expensive. I always have the day soup with the chicken or beef on the grill, delicious.
