El Honky Tonk

What an awesome bar! From the staff to the live music here! You can tell they really hold their live performers to a higher standard. Always a great time! It’s a true Honky Tonk vibe!

I did a Google search for San Antonio bars with live country music and El Honky Tonk came up. It's a neighborhood bar just a little off the tourist traffic areas. So glad I went - got there around 2:00 and stayed till closing time. Patrons were great, music was perfect AND the bartender was amazing - she was super friendly and super efficient & professional! I so enjoy watching a bartender work a busy bar - multi-tasking, networking, and the ability to continually smile & laugh. High recommended this watering hole ... the beer is COLD.

We wanted a quiet place to finish our day! We walked in and immediately felt the comfort and ambiance. Miss Edith has amazing customer service, made us so welcome and our drinks were so delicious! . The live music was enjoyable to listen and sing. I highly recommend this place. We will definitely be coming back!

If no stars was an option I would’ve done that. I made sure to ask the bartender her name after my experience. The bar is great but don’t hire girls who won’t take orders because they are too busy taking shots with the men at the bar while working. Also very awkward to make it known you are letting a guy drink for free because you like him when people around you are trying to pay and get your attention for service. The fact that she made a comment about the tip too. Is that to cover your mustache man’s drinks? Very unprofessional. Sierra acted like me trying to order a drink was such a bother to her, she was just flat out rude. I have had good experiences with other bartenders but I can’t believe a bar as good as this one lets someone like that work here. Straight up disappointing.

Great place with perfect music. They play a good mix of country music. We went on a Saturday night and there was a live band that played country music. Drinks were perfectly priced and I will definitely be coming back again.

Great find!! We were planning on doing some bar hoping to find a comfortable setting but enjoyed it so much we stayed ! Bartenders were lovely and attentive. Definitely a more mature country bar but that was the best part. Didn’t have a bunch of college kids, instead, everyone had a very welcoming and familiar aura. Will be back when we stop in San Antonio!

Came to watch a live band, and the atmosphere was THE BEST!! The bartenders and staff are so nice. Drinks were well poured and tasty!

We stopped by on a Thursday night while we were at the market Square during fiesta week. They had live music the day of our visit. The place is small, but it wasn't overly packed. They have decent drink prices. Staff members were all super friendly and nice. Their restrooms are clean, which is a plus for a bar. They have a full service bar. Inside decor is nice, country themed. I had my first chispa while there. Thought it was pretty good. This is downtown, so parking is paid parking in one of the parking lots downtown.

First time here was a good experience. When we got there it was pretty much dead, so we were able to pick our spots by the bar. The establishment is pretty small, not a lot of room to move around once the crowd shows up. They had decent drinks at good prices, no food or snacks - I was hoping for some nuts or pretzels or something snacky. They had jukebox music until the live band started, and they were really good. Unfortunately the dance floor is tiny but we still had a great time! Disappointed that we had to pay $24 for parking lot across the street, parking is so expensive downtown even if you're just going to be a couple of hours.

My husband had tacos that he loved so much he forgot to take a photo of them!!! Excellent customer service, clean, friendly atmosphere and great entertainment. We will definitely return our next visit to San Antonio

Not super friendly, but ok. Decent dive if you're in the neighborhood, but not worth going out of your way for.

Everything was badass except the security guard we stepped outside to go next door for a little and when we came back as a party of 6 we were no longer accepted even though the band was telling security to let us in due to an incompetent security guard we would never go there again due to how they treat well paying customers would rather go next door again due to the hospitality

We went last night to see Jay Martinez ! Freakin Awesome! It was so cool parked across the street.

Great find for us on a Saturday night. I would not have found thos spot f it wasn't for our Uber driver. Perfect size little Honky Tonk with a great musician named Billy. Bartenders were great and pricing was very reasonable. Management seemed to be constantly on the move keeping evweything in perfect shape, cleaning and clearing tables, chairs etc We live in the Austin Area and found this to be a perfect vibe for us.

We had a great time here. Kayla was the best bartender super cool and attentive. Would definitely recommend.

Service from bouncer was great! Everyone else inside could careless you're there and it shows. Bad service drowned loud music.

I got recommended this place but Does anybody know if it's an 18+ or 21+ place? Or if they happen to have college nights,OR CHARGE TO GET IN? asking for a friend.

Super cool spot. Only reason it's not 5 stars is the music was ridiculously loud. We went last night and my ears are still ringing. I couldn't hear anything my friends were saying most of the night. Again, would love to go back but holy Moses the music was so loud

Can't say enough about my experience with this place. James and John and the staff are top tier. Keep on keepin on boys. You gotta check this place out if you are downtown.

Great environment, great live music, this place needs more recognition, i always enjoy coming here, and the bartenders always have great service!

$50 here for a coctail and a beer. They dress like cowboys but they rob you blind like crooks. The bartender served me a drink in a dirty water glass with refrigerator ice and a torn garnish. There was absolutely no care, and nothing at all to present a top-shelf drink. Avoid this place. They will pretend to be friendly until they have your credit card, and the moment you hand it over they'll take what they want and shrug off absurdly overpriced drinks.

Best bar in san antone, if you're on the riverwalk get on over to N.Flores street for a true Texas experience
