How It Feels to Rent a Vacation House in a Pandemic - Eater

"Starving from the trip — we couldn’t duck into stores on the way for a quick snack — we settled on Mexican for lunch from a local place called El Huarache." - Alanna Bennett

Great spot for authentic Mexican food! Homemade flour tortillas, soft flavorful steak, black beans to die for, warm delicious salsa and great tasting chips! Great music ! Intocable playing… reminds me of 956 They Valley, Mcallen. Don’t let these 3 star reviews fool you! Glad I came in!!

We came in unannounced with like 60 people coming from a funeral. With only one waitress and one manager. They were not scared off by us and didn't turn us away. They were not rude when they were under a lot of pressure when we were coming at them at every second. They kept they're cool. I'm super impressed. The food and drinks and chips and salsa came out great. They only had 2 cooks and they killed it with the food coming out fast. Thank you for your hospitality. We all really appreciate it. Job well Done!!!

I’ve been here twice and absolutely love the service and food here. The waitress and manager was so welcoming. I wanted to find a place with authentic Mexican Food since my family is sick of Tex Mex and this is now our favorite place to eat after church. I ordered the fajitas del res, shared it my sister. When I asked for more tortillas the waitress actually brought some homemade she made at home. Had a pleasant experience here!!

Phenomenal…. Just stopped after landing from dallas live field looking for some authentic tacos and el hurache didn’t disappoint… salsa and dipping beans were good, and the quality of the meat was phenomenal

Arrived on a Saturday afternoon and received prompt service. We ordered Caldo Tlalpeno and enchiladas. Waitress was polite and brought our drinks and food in a short amount of time. The chips, salsas, and main courses were very good. We will visit again!

First and last time eating here. The Cafe de Olla was miserable, no matter how much sugar, creamer or milk I added, the coffee still tasted horrible. The menudo was even worse, the broth was disappointing and the meat was mediocre. Even the chips they give you at the start were bland and the salsa was nothing to write home about. My favorite thing from the whole experience would probably be walking out the door, since there was no way they could mess that up. I walked in hopeful and walked out depressed, the meal was so sad that it ruined my mood for the rest of the day.
