In my stay in Austin I did not taste any other authentic Mexican food more better than this place! Tomasa was the best and felt me feel as if I was back home eating my moms food will be back for sure when in Austin!

Google
Nice little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. The breakfast and regular tacos were flavorful, large apple portions, and fairly priced.

Google
Authentic enchiladas and fajitas. Amazing salsas. Habanero pineapple was well rounded, and verde was fresh and vibrant. Served a party of 8 with warm family vibes at lunch. Chef Mario knows how to treat his guests. Please go support this family business and don’t waste money on a restaurant that is spending more money on furniture than the humble ingredients and skilled labor that it takes to make quality food.

This place is definitely a hidden gem! I’m so glad we picked this over Papa John’s. The food was absolutely delicious! Serving breakfast all day was surely a plus for me. I tried the mole enchiladas and I can’t find one bad thing to say about them. The shrimp tacos were sooo gooood, but I could’ve done without the cabbage. Easily 10/10. Can’t wait to return.

We just had lunch here. What a hidden gem for mexican food! Our server Jerica was awesome and so friendly. The chips and salsa were so good I was pleadantly surprised. I had the chicken enchiladas in red sauce with rice and beans. They taste was so good! Chicken was tender and juicy and the red enchilada sauce was delicious. My wife had the huarache de carnitas, she said it was delicious and the meat so tender also. My wife is a regular, this was my first time here and now I will be coming back for more enchiladas and to try the rest of the menu. Highly recommend to give this place a try.

Google
A staple for us when we lived in the area. We went multiple times a week, got takeout regularly, etc. Highly recommend all the breakfast tacos, as well as the shrimp and campechano tacos. Chilaquiles also really solid. Really like their salsas too. We live across town now, but still stop in whenever we’re nearby to “meal prep” for the next few days. If you’re in the area, you owe it to yourself to check ‘em out. 👍🏻

Google
Best Mexican food I've had in my two weeks in Texas. We had the chilaquiles and migas breakfast tacos. Best salsa I've had while here too. Super affordable. Highly recommend.

Google
We stopped by here after a round of disc golf at Wells Bran ch. We had never been here before. I got the special and it was very good. I wish they had margaritas but the beer was cold, the food was good and the waitress was friendly. It was worth giving it a try.

Yelp
Such a welcoming small Mexican restaurant ran by a wife and husband duo. We got the chile verde enchiladas, huarache, and queso and the queso was absolutely to die for though I wish it was a bit spicier or came with jalapeños. The huarache is made with a blue corn tortilla base and is lathered with refried beans and a very rich shredded chicken. The shredded chicken in the enchilada is also so delicious but the salsa verde sauce does lack flavor. Overall very delicious spot and the kindness of the owners makes the experience that much better.

Yelp
The breakfast tacos are simply amazing. I picked up about 30 breakfast. Tacos for some clients and let me tell you what they were a hit. The green sauce is simply amazing. Oh my God, I haven't tried green sauce like this in forever. There used to be this one spot in Houston, that would make it just like this. I mean identical. Very unique tasty spicy green sauce. The tacos are made fresh to order and they're simply amazing. Every bite was top-notch. I really enjoyed the breakfast, tacos. I will definitely go back to try the lunch tacos. The customer service is amazing. They had my order ready to go. The owner was there. He was nice. All of the cooks were nice. The cashier was nice. Everybody was very friendly and they did an excellent job. I'll be back soon to try more things off the menu.

Yelp
Ordered the chicken chili enchiladas they were delicious and the portion size was good. The chicken tortilla soup was also pretty darn wonderful for a quick place. I usually pick up from this place and they prepare the food quickly and wrap it securely.

Yelp
Award winning Breakfast Tacos. Every meals cooked fresh to order. The food and service is excellent. Owner owned and operated one location business and they are cooks. Small business and you have not ate there yet? Try the beef or chicken enchiladas or the fish tacos or the chicken or beef fajitas, etc. It is all really good. You will not be disappointed. The bacon-egg-cheese breakfast tacos (my favorite breakfast taco) alone will keep you coming back.

Michael O.

Yelp
I have gone for breakfast tacos a few times and the staff treats this gringo like family...The quality of the food is out of this world which explains why the staff are angels!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a perfect take out spot! I got the chile verde enchiladas to go and they were so good. The beans and rice were fine but I think the beans were under seasoned. The service was great and fast. The restaurant itself is small and nothing special but perfect for what it is. I will definitely order from here again!

Yelp
I had an appointment on Wells Branch and ventured into this little spot for lunch. There are only about 8-10 tables and it wasn't crowded at all. As some diners entered they appeared to be regulars and they bantered in Spanish with the cooks in the open kitchen. This made for a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The chips had very little salt. I try not to use salt and normally wouldn't mind, but these were pretty bland. The salsa wasn't as spicy as I would prefer, but it was fresh and has a great tomato flavor. Refills were generously offered but I had my fill. I ordered a taco and enchilada a la cart. The beef fajita taco was prepared a la Mexicana just as I had requested with very spicy serranos. The cheese enchilada with red sauce was full of cheese but unfortunately had not been heated enough. If in the neighborhood again I might stop in, but my experience wasn't enough to merit a special trip.

Yelp
This was a quick return trip to let our GD (12) try some of our all time favorite places and an opportunity for me to try a new menu item. Service is always friendly and fast...Queso and Salsas are on point...Ask to try the spicy pineapple salsa...its to die for....The GD and wife ordered the same Beef Enchilada...One with Rice and Beans...other double rice...her first bite response was OMG this is so good...she usually leaves a portion of rice and beans...but she cleaned her plate...I went with the Chili Colorado and it was so good...and the charros are a must try. One thing that stands out on all there dishes are the sauces...rich and very flavorful....Breakfast is next to try on the list.

Yelp
We had a craving for good Mexican food for dinner and went solely based off reviews. This quaint spot looked perfect for a low key dinner with kids. To start, we were surprised that they didn't serve margaritas. Looked like they may not have a liquor license. Not a requirement, but something to be aware of as we were not The portions were very generous and the salsa was a hit with everyone in my family. The burrito was just ok while the cheese burger was surprisingly good and much too large to be a kids meal. My wife probably would have been happier if she didn't try to modify her Chilaquilles. The service was very attentive. My son was hungry and plowed through a lot of chips and salsa and they were quickly refilled. Overall, the food portions were so big we went home with leftovers, but the food itself was just ok. We did notice that they did takeout and would come back for picking up a quick Mexican fix.

Yelp
I've been come to this restaurant for a year or so now, they make super fat burritos and decent Tex-Mex plates. It's your average Tex-Mex joint, no more, no less. They are always super quick and very nice. It's easy to just drop by for breakfast and they whip out your breakfast so fast you could probably stop in before work and not even loose much time. Great cooks great, service, come check it out.

Yelp
Overall a good spot for breakfast tacos. Breakfast taco prices are kind of wild these days but El Huarache does a great job on quality and quantity. For $2.99 these tacos are huge. They do standard egg, cheese and protein. My favorite however was the Migas taco! Heads up on the bacon egg and cheese, the bacon is not as crispy then one would like. The salsas personally are not my favorite. Service is quick and fast! Forgot to take food pics, but again the portions of the breakfast tacos are huge.

Yelp
A hidden gem, so flavorful, so fresh. As a native Texan I don't know if I've ever had better Mexican food (no not Tex Mex) . The tortilla soup could literally exercise a demon because its so soul healing.

Loony Loco L.

Yelp
The service is good. Food is good, big selection of dishes. Recommended for Mexican food.

Kacie L.

Yelp
The pineapple salsa and the tomatillo based salsa is 10/10. Definitely recommend asking for it. However the chips are not homemade and the tortillas are also store bought. Service was good but if you're looking for good fajitas with homemade tortillas I don't recommend coming here.

Norma G.

Yelp
This place is amazing the menudo enchiladas the chicken soup the chips and salsa the atmosphere is very amazing people are so nice the owner greets you every time we walk in he walks up to the table and shakes your hand thank you for coming in today they're waitress Eureka Is so awesome and nice she gets her order right every time I recommend this to everybody great great service love this restaurant
google avatar

Sehlinda G.

Yelp
I can't speak to the restaurant because I had the mole enchiladas delivered . They weren't spicy but they were indeed tasty:). The rice was decent. The charro beans were a little stiff. I would definitely order from here again :)

Shelby J.

Yelp
Customer service was good. Chips were stale. Salsa had lettuce in it like they were recycling it. Food was okay. Not much flavor. Queso is powder cheese.
google avatar

Ximena S.

Yelp
We stopped by last for dinner takeout. We loved the flavors and size of dishes. The grilled fish tacos were delicious, as were the Margarito enchiladas and portobello fajitas. We enjoyed the beans and rice and the read and green sauces were very good. The food was tasty, not too cheesy, not too salty. We look forward to visiting again soon.
google avatar

Mary S.

Yelp
Not enough seating, sparsely furnished. Seated near the front. Chips are ok, not tasty but fresh. BYOB alcohol. Salsa good but not hot.

Yelp
Came Sat for lunch @noon - Quite busy. 1 open table Took 40min to get our food Order: 1. Chorizo & eggs - Solid 2. Beef fajitas - Very spicy, chewy meat, seasoning was trash, slightly fishy - literally sent back 3. Al pastor tacos - not authentic mexican, meat cut in cubes and it's literally just seasoned pork Server was pleasant but had way too many tables and took a long time sometimes Won't be back

Yelp
Solid Mexican food, everything you expect. All the flavors hit the right notes, what I expected was delivered. Great local Mexican food. Soft Mexican rice, creamy pinto beans, strong guacamole flavors, salty chicken and beef, simple easy food.
google avatar

Rick M.

Yelp
Looks like a hole in wall but don't be fooled. The waitstaff is friendly. Good menu. The menudo was delicious. Worth a try.. prices are reasonable and they have good breakfast choices. Good choice of breakfast tacos.
google avatar

Embrya A.

Yelp
Amazing and fast service! The food is awesome! My hubby and I always share the Aztec burrito with no beans or lettuce with steak! Their chicken enchiladas are also fantastic and very flavorful. Indoor dining only. Very welcoming atmosphere.

Yelp
A delivery option that proved to be well worth it! We are constantly looking for the next place to explore through delivery. El Huarache is one we discovered recently and we are very happy we did! The delivery was quick! I mean half the time it said it would be... very happy about that because we were hungry! We got the carne asada, beef fajitas, cheese dip, cheese quesadilla, chicken cheese quesadilla, and guacamole... yeah we wanted to explore a bit. We liked every bite! The carne was just a bit on the over cooked side but seasoned well and tasty. The beef fajitas were exactly to my wife's liking... and the chicken quesadilla was tasty too. The flavors were spot on... just the right spices and authentic flair. It has been hard to find good Mexican delivery but here it is! I suggest trying this establishment... we were quite happy with it!

Yelp
AUTHENTIC and delicious! My faves are cheese enchiladas with red not green sauce for me. And the tortas are yum that masa flavor. I will say that they've been great every time but once when they were like hockey pucks. But they replaced them w/fresh ones. I guess they were trying to pass off some older ones. I hate it when places do that. Other than that never had a problem. I get the tortas with guacamole instead of meat and they are generous with it! Their salsas are so good I want to slap someone. I don't know how they do it! You gotta try this place!!
google avatar

Keay A.

Yelp
I only found out about this restaurant because it's a quarter mile away from where I live, the weather was really horrible and it was the only Mexican restaurant close enough but I'm glad I went. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup to go and I got a huge container of soup with cilantro, cheese and tortilla chips on the side. It was perfect and possibly one of the top 3 tortilla soups I've had. There was a hefty amount of chicken and vegetables that makes this soup last for definitely more than one day for just one person. The service I received was great, efficient and quick. Now I know I have a place to get some REALLY good soup, rain or shine.

Yelp
I found El Huarache while on a quest for some hangover migas or chilaquiles. I admit, the first place I chose was a little easier to get to but it was closed due to a broken water line. So, I meandered a little further off the beaten path and was well rewarded. This is a classic, unpretentious, mom and pop Mexican food place nestled in a strip center/business park. The service was a tad slow because they apparently only had one person working the floor. But what came out on the plate was totally worth a few extra minutes wait. The chilaquiles I ordered were a perfectly balanced mixture of crispy tortilla strips, tasty eggs, tangy sauce and wonderful crema. I happy-danced in my chair from the first bite to the last. The potatoes were perfectly cooked but definitely seemed a little pedestrian next to the star of the plate. The side of guacamole was fresh, full of flavor and top notch. Warm chips and salsa were also delicious. I am SO looking forward to traveling back to El Huarache to eat again. What was the name of the place I went to first? I don't even need to remember....

Yelp
This is my favorite place for authentic Mexican food in Austin. It can be easy to miss, but once you try it, you won't forget. Nothing on the menu disappoints; my favorite is the green chicken enchiladas.
google avatar

Embrya A.

Yelp
Originally from Corpus, anyone who knows that area of Texas and had the tex-mex there knows that its the best Mexican food! This restaurant reminds me so much of my hometown! The service is top tier, always approached with a smile and friendliness! The food is amazing and always ready in a timely manner. Prices are great! Ambiance is very welcoming! If you want to enjoy some good Tex-mex and customer service this is your place! I promise you wont regret!
google avatar

Marguax S.

Yelp
I usually try to get my mexican fix at a market with a restaurant inside as they're more authentic than most restaurants catering to us white folks. I decided to give this place a try since they have mostly great reviews and has horchata on the menu to satisfy that craving. Ordered delivery, so idk about the service inside. The food was bland, portion size was alright for the price, and the horchata tasted watered down- could be from the drive, but based on the taste of the food I doubt it. Overall it was ok, but if you like your food authentic, I'd skip this place.
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
The queso was just liquid cheese, no flavoring. The tacos were a good size, but got 2 tiny sides of sauce for 4 tacos. We won't be trying this place for lunch again! It was delivered via Ubereats.
google avatar

Lucy F.

Yelp
Some of the best Mexican food in Austin is here! Don't be fooled by it's unassuming exterior, inside deliciousness awaits. Everything is good here ,from the chips and salsa, tacos, to the pancakes, and my fave ...enchiladas. The ladies who run the front are so nice and always smiling. If you love enchiladas like my family does, the chicken is perfection and so is the beef. We have ordered trays of both types of enchiladas here for various get togethers over the years and they never disappoint. The best part is it is a super casual atmosphere, yet they provide 5 star quality dishes.
google avatar

Mary M.

Yelp
Service was excellent. Everything was wonderful. (Just seeing that this review never posted because Google initially said it wasn't long enough.)

Motorcycle M.

Yelp
Just a warning. Do not click on their "website" on yelp. It re directs you to a bunch of spam websites. I guess this restaurant has no website. I mean, seriously? Letting yelp direct you to spam websites?

Rogue H.

Yelp
Have been coming here since I moved to Austin. I wanted to find an authentic Mexican food place and this is it! Service is always fast and very friendly from the servers to the cooks. I've brought friends and family here and have always gotten raving reviews of the food no matter the dish we order. Great local place to support!
google avatar

Virginia S.

Yelp
I'm very happy to have found this restaurant nestled close to where I live. My family and I definitely agreed that we would come again for dinner and we're looking forward to trying their breakfast dishes. We were greeted immediately as we came in. Natalia was our server and she was very helpful in answering some of our questions. We asked if they served alcohol but they do not at the moment. I ordered the Gordita plate and other family members ordered the enchiladas plate. The Gorditas were fried to perfection and the beef fajitas inside were deliciously seasoned. The enchiladas were soooo yummy! The portions were ample and enough to save some for tomorrow's work lunch! We are definitely coming back to try more items on the menu!
google avatar

JOSE R.

Yelp
I went there yesterday and order 3 breakfast tacos and coffee around 11:30 am by 12:30 pm barely getting home to take my dog out and I was that one throwing up, like 8 times and went to the bathroom another 8 times I had diarrhea, by 3:00 pm when it was time to go pick up my daughter from school I couldn't make it, I don't know if the eggs were exposed to the heat, or bad or maybe the potatoes I had food poisoning, form this place, I will not recommend it to anybody that wants a good breakfast,go somewhere else.
google avatar

Yvette G.

Yelp
Had a delicious breakfast. Husband and I went out seeking a good restaurant that is close to home and at the same time - tasty. We stumbled across this little restaurant that has "authentic Mexican" in their name. I grew up close to the Mexican border in Deep South Texas and I can tell you honestly-- they stand true to their word. An abundance of food for a good price. My husband had eggs and pancakes and I had chorizo egg and cheese tacos. We both had coffee (btw the cups are so cute!!). They greeted us with chips and salsa and a little bit later asked if the salsa was hot enough for our taste. We got two other types of salsa that were hot and yummy!! Yum. Definitely going there again!!
google avatar

Samuel T.

Yelp
I was looking for a new Mexican restaurant in the Austin area and found this place. I went on a Saturday morning looking for a Mexican breakfast. I ended up eating a vegetarian omelette. They were very generous with the spinach, mushrooms, green peppers, and eggs. The Omelette was fresh and the salsa on top was very good. It was served with roasted potatoes and refried beans.
google avatar

Marlene M.

Yelp
We just had our first experience here and already plan on coming back! As soon as you step inside the restaurant multiple employees greet you and make you feel welcomed. They table touch often and made sure everything with your food was correct. Aside from the food being delicious what made us want to come back is the hospitality that is provided! I highly recommend trying this restaurant out.

Alex E.

Yelp
Doesn't look like much on the outside, a sign advertising a Mexican restaurant, sharing a stretch of strip mall with a church, a bar, and other businesses, but it's got a wholesome feel with an open kitchen front, allowing you to watch the kitchen staff at work. I ordered an horchata that wasn't overly sweet, and sopes with chicken, al pastor, and carne. The plate looked good, tasted good, and wasn't too heavy, enough room for dessert. Naty was my hostess and server. She was kind and gracious, willing to banter and engage with me, as I ate, while juggling to go orders. As I rose to take my leave, the cook waved and said goodbye, echoed by Naty. This was a relaxing, enjoyable experience. Note: I didn't see any alcohol on the menu, so if you're looking for a place where you can have a cerveza or margarita with your food, this is likely not it.
google avatar

S F.

Yelp
pretty good beef enchiladas...definitely will come again! It was nice that they had cheeseburgee for the little one who enjoyed it.
google avatar

Lena M.

Yelp
YES u have to try this place! the food is bomb, the customer service is bomb, everything about this place is perfect. The best gorditas I have had. The queen that was serving us was so sweet , I highly recommend!!!
google avatar

Paula P.

Yelp
Ordered delivery to check it out. Queso-advertised as "best queso in town", literally melted velveeta cheese with I'm guessing tomato specks. Chips we're good, but really oily. Hard pass next time. Gorditas plate is on point, kinda weird how they set it up with two halves of a shell instead of a pocket but delicious. They drizzled a little salsa on each item. Definitely ask for more if you're ordering to go and like the extra spice on your food.

Yelp
Delicious I order delivery from here, like 2x a week. Best Migas tacos ever !!!! And yes 2x a week. It's just that good, and if you don't believe me, I dare you to order.... :) Yummy

Yelp
El Huarache carnitas tacos are some of the best you can have in the Wellsbranch area.

Yelp
Food is huge and amazing recipes not to mention the service Carlos and the chefs are five star!!! You will not regret giving this new gem a try! I love it
