El Indio Restaurant & Taqueria

We tried the carne asada tacos, enchiladas de pollo, birriaquesodilla, mulitas with barbacoa, and a side of beans. Everything was great! The tacos were flavorful on their own, and the enchiladas and birriaquesodilla were delicious. The rice was good, though not special, but the beans were really tasty, especially with a splash of lime, which made them stellar. The mulita was amazing (and very messy!) but absolutely worth it. We’d definitely order more next time and try different fillings too. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were very reasonable ($3 tacos, $13 enchiladas, and $14 for the birriaquesodilla). So many other dishes looked tempting; it’s hard not to want one of everything! The salsa bar was another highlight, with fresh salsas (all with some heat) and clearly labeled toppings so you know exactly what you’re getting. Everything tasted fresh. The place smells fantastic when you walk in, and the bilingual counter service was friendly and welcoming. Overall, an awesome experience and seriously good food. So good!! We’ll definitely be back! You should eat here!!!

This place isn’t ever packed when I go at least, many options and there quedo de birra 😋😋 Restaurant El Indio is such a great spot for authentic Mexican food! The flavors taste homemade and fresh, and everything is seasoned perfectly. The service is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere feels comfortable and inviting. My food came out hot and delicious, and the portions were generous. Definitely a place I come back to again!

Glad to have found this place as it’s certainly going to be on our rotation list going forward. Lots of places offer street tacos but this place raises the bar by offering a wide variety of authentic goodness.

It's kinda of a fast food setup with authentic Mexican food. People at the registers are bi-lengual so everyone is welcome. You come in order at the registers grab a table and when your buzzer goes off go back to pick up your food. Prices are incredibly affordable especially for the amount of food that you get & especially in today's economy where nothing is cheap anymore. It's a great place to try if you like authentic Mexican food. I truly enjoyed it!

Had lunch at this restaurant with my teen, who loves Mexican food. This isn't an Americanized Tex/Mex food place. This felt very authentic. They have a versatile and delicious menu. So far every dish we tried here was really good. Food is always hot and fresh. Must try when in Lawrenceville!

I placed an order through Uber eats and it was delicious. The pozole had lots of meat which was nice and delish. Being from Chicago I was please to see they have milagro tortillas. The tortilla has allot to do with how a taco or any meal taste. I enjoyed my brunch and will definitely order again.

Ordered about 5 tacos for a corporate lunch at a spot we frequent often about 20 minutes from our office. Unfortunately we had a very unpleasant experience this time. The food we received was burnt and overcooked, as seen in the pictures below. One order of tacos was actually a quesadilla instead. When we proceeded to call the restaurant to inform them they insisted that we drive 20 minutes back with the burnt food and the receipt in order to receive compensation, however due to the distance from us that was impossible for us to do and they could not provide us any other alternatives. The manger we spoke to was also very rude and unapologetic of actions and proceeded to encourage us to dispute the charge via our own bank accounts. Very unpleasant and rude staff which was disappointing considering we order from here multiple times. Would not recommend for corporate lunches.

I've tried this place in Gwinnett and it was okay, I tried the Lawrenceville location via delivery and the food was fresh, delicious, seasoned perfectly and authentically! - birria ramen comes with 2 birria queso tacos with consommé - chicken Taquito platter, come with sour cream, lettuce, tomato, beans, rice - 2 green salsa, 2 red salsa The salsas are delicious, the birria was very flavorful and ramen was cooked to perfection Al dente with onions cilantro and beef in the consommé. The chicken Taquitos stole the show though these were D E L I C I O U S !! Totally hit the spot for Mexican craving, will definitely order again and again!

Ordered Birria tacos with the ramen. The tacos were good, but the ramen broth and meat in the ramen tasted metallic. I wanted to see if it was only me and my wife tried some and told me it had a strong metallic taste. Her consommé for her default Birria tacos were good. So I don't know why the ramen broth and meat tasted so bad. They have to ask the linecooks and kitchen manager to see why it is. Very concerning. I ended up throwing it away

I got the Birria tacos. They were great! Great spice and consume. Staff is friendly. Inside was clean. They have a condiment bar with salsa's and lime's you can help yourself to. Will def come back!

If there's a better establishment that makes birria tacos in the state of Georgia then I don't want to know about it because then my next statement would seem farfetched. El Indio makes the BEST birria in all of Georgia! I usually get the tacos but I decided to try the quesadilla and boy I never looked back! The parking is a bit of a challenge when it's packed but for what you receive in food it's definitely worth it. The staff is always friendly and the restaurant is always clean. You can dine in or take it to go. Either way you will be back. Guaranteed

In the area and surprised to see that they open at 10AM. Not really good option for a vegan. The menu is heavy on the meats and cheeses. I ordered from the seeds menu: rice and beans, corn tortillas, grilled onions (a whopping $3!) and avocados. When the order was ready I saw why the onions were $3. It was a whole container's worth, probably 4 whole onions! Lol. I also added radish and jalapeño soaked carrots from the bar. Ended up being a pretty good meal. Can't say that I'd pick this restaurant again because of the limited options for me, but I'd come with friends if they wanted to come. I've been to another location before changing to plant based lifestyle. I remember the Birria tacos and consome being really good. That's what my mom ordered and absolutely loved it!

Food and service today were fantastic, like always! My dad and I are huge fans of the birria quesadillas. I ate the entire portion (four slices/pieces) in one sitting! ...and drank the leftover consommé. Haha! Love it!

So I've been a huge fan of El Indio but I've always gone to the other locations. Never an issue since food was consistent matter where I went. So I stopped by this location one day to grab lunch and get one of my favorites, birria quesadillas. Ordered, paid, and got order a lot faster than I'm used to. After I got my salsa from the bar I realized why. With absolutely nobody in the restaurant, and them not being busy my food was clearly rushed and put together hastily it seems. I get my food take a bite and realize that the cheese isn't even melted. They literally slapped the meat on it and threw the cheese on it without attempting to make sure it was melted. I don't complain unless I'm asking for a refund so I push thru it and go on about my way. But obviously in my mind I'm thinking not to ever go back to this location. Which is a shame because it's the closest one to me. See pic for details

Oh my goodness, the Birria tacos and Birria ramen are OUTSTANDING! This place is excellent every single time that I visit. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they get your food out fast! At 2:00 on a Friday afternoon, this place was hopping! Though there was plenty of seating available for us. The salsa bar is a great perk with different pickled veggies and different salsas/hot sauces. I think the ramen is a new addition to the menu and it is DELICIOUS! Already planning my next visit.

Biirria taco was fire Regular tacos was mid Birria Raman was mid My thing about eating Mexican food is the sauce.. these sauce was not good at all and they don't have any to go cups for the sauce you have to ask for it. I had total of 5 tacos and was given 4 little pack of sauce To improve.... Get some more quality spicier sauce. I might go order a taco at betas taco and get their hot sauce than order the birria here I will try the birrria quesa burrito next

The Best Mexican Food Around! I LOVE Mexican food! It is probably my second fave after Thai food, and that's because I'm Thai and my mom might read this. I grew up in Chicago where there's lots of authentic Mexican spots. But no matter where I travel, I am always down to try "the best" Mexican food in the area. Vegas, LA, etc etc. I recently moved to Lawrenceville and was not hopeful for anything authentic. My coworker mention El Indio to me awhile back when I asked for a recommendation for great Mexican food since she's Mexican. She told me to try the Birria tacos. I completely forgot about that convo until I drove past El Indio on my way to an appointment. The name sounded familiar so I looked it up here on Yelp! Is it possible that I live so close to amazing Mexican food now? Yes!!! I stopped in and got combo A: birria quesa tacos with consume (aka dipping tacos). It was love at first bite! I brought home and order for my husband and the kids and they immediately loved it too. We now have it at least once a week. Their regular tacos are also great. My toddler enjoys their quesadillas and taquitos. They have a few locations in the area, so if you're near one definitely check them out. You can't go wrong (unless you don't like meat and cheese or Mexican food)!

My coworker told me, oh Kim there's a new place that opened up around the corner from us they got good birria tacos! I'm like yas, I'm down. Turns out I've been to their Tucker location before lol. I don't know what it is about birria that's so comforting knowing you're now gonna have clogged arteries but it's so worth it!!! I ordered the tacos with the consome. So juicy and delicious. They do have a small salsa bar with condiments, sauces and additional toppings. Service was fast. Atmosphere is pretty modern and also spacious. Usually some tacos places try to maximize their space and squeeze tons of tables in, but not here (yet). The line to order seems long sometimes but don't let it fool you, they knock it out pretty fast. Parking situation can be tricky, I have no tips for that beside be patient. I'll be coming back to support.

I just moved to Georgia December 2024 (It's April 2025) & I'd never had real Mexican food before (like, ever) and thought, let me branch out with my taste buds and try new foods. So, my 17yr old daughter loves Barria Tacos so I started getting those with her whenever we would go to mexican restaurants but when I went here, their Barria Quesadilla was AMAZIIIIIINGGGGGG ! It's now my favorite thing at this spot. Can't wait to try other foods as well but for now the Barria Quesadilla has me in a chokehold lol

We get this place from Uber Eats. I haven't written a yelp review in years, but just had to for this place! I'm from Southern California, therefore I know legit Mexican food. This place is AMAZING, and that's saying a lot coming from me. I worked in a Mexican restaurant, in San Diego, for several years as well. This place is soooo yummy!!

Ordered the fajitas, and they basically gave us soup. Shrimp is very chewy and rubbery. Rice is mushy and flavorless. Wouldn't come here again. If you want authentic Mexican food, you're better off going to frontera than here

This has got to be one of the best, Mexican restaurants in Atlanta. Everything is seasoned to perfection, hot and delicious. The newest item we've tried is called the machete. It's so big it's enough for two people. They don't skip on the meat it's loaded.

Amazing. The staff are fantastic, very friendly and helpful to uninformed new customers. LOVED the Birria tacos, it is a terrific authentic environment where everyone is having a good meal and a good time. Loved it. I recommend and will be back to try other dishes.

Some like it hot!! I had the I had the # 12, meant to get the #14, but made an mistake. That's what happens when you're getting old . I meant to get the carneguisada, but got the shrimp instead. I like it hot, but not so hot that I can't eat it . In 90 degree weather and the heat, I need a shower again. Sine it was my fault for ordering the wrong item, I guess that I can't complain, but geez that Shrimp was on fire!! I'm not saying thus is a bad plait I can't rate because I'm still hot,

I had the tacos and these are just so so so good a must if you like tacos. Doesn't look like much from the outside but this tends to happen with most places. Trust me it's absolutely delicious

Food is amazing, i grew up in mexico my entire life and this is the closest flavor i have, always love to come here whenever i get nostalgia. ambiance is calm, no issues at all, and service is very professional.

I visited this restaurant on Friday night. I placed a to-go order and had to pay over the phone because the food was more than $50. I was told to arrive within 15 mins and my order would be ready. I arrived at the restaurant and it was pretty empty. There were 3-4 young ladies working behind the counter. I asked for my order by number and they proceeded to tell me that half the order was ready but the other half had already been picked up by someone else. I expressed that I didn't know anything about that and I was ready to pickup my complete order. The cashier told me that I would need to wait 15-20 mins for the missing items to be made. I informed her that if the other part of the order would be cold at that time, the entire order would need to be remade. After waiting 30 more mins, I was given my order. Upon checking it, the birria quesadillas were all soggy. I showed them to the cashier and she expressed that they looked that way because they had been sitting too long and that I should have arrived earlier! The other cashier told me it "wasn't a big deal" because it's the same juices that are in the consommé. I asked to have them remade and they declined. They proceeded to talk to each other in Spanish while customers joined in. One of the customers actually said I should "stick to food I'm familiar with" if I'm going to complain. My family and I have visited this establishment multiple times and I do find that the Spanish customers are treated more kindly. This was a $100 order. I will be following up with management and I will not be returning.

With the hype of quesabirria tacos, El Indio opened its 3rd location near downtown Lawrenceville. This has been open since late August 2021 so it's fairly new. The building used to be a Subway. The interior is nice, clean, with plenty of booths and tables for seating although it's only counter service. There was a little line when we got there, but it went quick and the food came out pretty fast also. I had to order the classic "A" combo: 3 quesabirria tacos (Shredded beef with cheese, onions, & cilantro) with consommé. ($10.99) Horchata is a must when eating tacos, so I ordered a medium. ($2.50). There is a small self serve salsa & toppings bar. I got the classic red and green sauces with several lime wedges and ended up getting some Valentina hot sauce later. There was also carrots, onions, radishes, and other toppings I believe. The tacos came out nice and crispy, filled with a good amount of tender beef and melty cheese. The consommé was moderately flavorful and hot (temperature wise), with shreds of beef inside...but you kinda have to dip and eat fast because the tacos get soggy quick! I don't have much to compare it to since it's only the 2nd time I've eaten quesabirria at a restaurant, but it was my 1st time here. It's definitely fun to eat and I enjoyed my experience. My only complaint is that the horchata didn't have a good depth of flavor and was watery. I usually finish horchata because I love it, but I ended up throwing it away when I was about 75% finished. Overall, I would come here again!

Not once have I had an issue with this restaurant, but today I had ordered through UberEats and I was contemplating on ordering at first. I got my sister Birria Ramen (which was missing) and Birriaquesadilla, and 2 Birria tacos for myself with both Mango Agua Fresca and Horchata. I was so disappointed, our food was cold, the drinks were watered down like they poured the drinks as soon as the order was placed instead of waiting until a delivery driver was nearby. On top of it all, the food was soggy due to the consume spilling all over. I wish my online experience was the same as when I am physically there, but maybe another time.

Not authentic at all. Rice had no flavor and the enchiladas had the sauce that you buy at the store.

Having a meal here now and it's great so far. My son wanted birria tacos and birria ramen for dinner so we decided to try this place because of the great reviews. El Indio is not disappointing. My son and I are loving the ramen and tacos. We will definitely be back to eat.

Place is rude and unprofessional since I'm not from there place of birth they kicked us out from dinning 32 before they closed while other people from there place of birth came in after us and ordered and they were able to dine in the place never again will I give them my money

Nice restaurant with even better food. When you pull up to the location it's doesn't scream quality but when you order anything from a taco to a burrito or even a caldo de res all the food is good. There is always a nice cashier ready to take your order. The restaurant itself is really cozy and it helps make it feel like home style cooking.

Food was great and worth the trip. Only downside is there isn't much seating if you wanna dine in and there isn't a big sign to indicate its location since it's on a busy street. Otherwise good eats in my opinion

Great mexican food. Love the birria tacos and the tacos is in general. The spicy bistec in red sauce is good too. The salsas are great. However, my only recommendation would be for them to change the packaging for items with sauce to something better. When getting delivered, the sauce comes out all over the bag.

We ordered through Uber eats tonight because we wanted sone Birria Cheese Tacos. We never tried this location but we will be coming back. The food was so good and they were not skimpy on the Birria meat. It was cheesy and flavorful. The consommé was so rich with flavor and dunking the tacos in it was so good. The kids has the Birria quesadillas and those were good as well. Came with guacamole and sour cream on the side Whether I eat at a taqueria I always get their rice and beans on the side. I can tell if a Mexican restaurant gives its love by trying their beans. It's so good. Definitely made in house and not canned My new favorite taco place otp

La comida muy buena pero el personal horrible hoy visite este restaurante y trataron de estupida a mi hermana por dos veces y Ami me dijeron vieja p..ta simplemente por que ellos se equivocaron de orden. y pedimos hablar con el manager y dijeron que no tienen. si alguien de aqui sabe donde poner una queja a este restaurante déjenme saber para que no sigan maltratando los clientes.

service was great-the cashier was really kind and so were the other workers! their barbacoa tacos are to die for, and same for their steak tacos! their was a small bar next to the register with various salsas, toppings, and limes... super convenient! highly recommend this place. highly recommend their tacos. my mouth is watering drooling SALIVATING at the thought of those tacos. will come back again soon ~

The quesabirria tacos are amazing ! MUST HAVE ! Also, try the Burris burrito! You won't be disappointed!

My husband took me here for lunch one day after a doctors appointment and it was absolutely delicious and hit the spot I recommend you go there and give it a try it'll be worth your while I won't disappoint

The building is bland, so you may drive past it and never think of it again. Stop by and get yourself a burrito or some tacos if you're seeing this review. I have never been a burrito type of person, but I love their al pastor and barbacoa burrito. I've gone multiple times, and I'll admit that sometimes their food doesn't hit, but it's an excellent place for cheap and delicious tacos.

First time here and ordered the birria tacos. My first time trying Birria tacos, if this is what they're supposed to taste like then, WOW! I live 5 minutes away, definitely worth the drive to try other dishes on their menu. Delicious!
