"Many mourned the loss of El Inka, a once legendary pollo a la brasa specialist in Gresham that closed in 2019. The good news is that it quietly reopened in a nondescript building with easy-to-miss signage on Division near the Jade District. The burnished rotisserie chicken, served with french fries and salad, is as succulent as ever. But for variety, start with a few anticucho skewers or kid (and stoner) friendly salchipapas, french fries tossed with sliced hot dogs, and don’t forget to add an order of jalea, battered fried seafood, for the table." - Krista Garcia

"Pollos a La Brasa El Inka, Gresham’s classic spot for Peruvian rotisserie chicken, has closed after almost 10 years. Despite its popularity and high praise from food critics and diners alike, the restaurant announced its closure on Facebook without much explanation. The venue was well-loved for its excellent pollo a la brasa, and its closure marks a significant loss for the local Peruvian dining scene." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

We have been coming to El Inka for about 15 years, since they were located in Gresham. They have since moved to SE Division. Their Pollo El Inka (Chicken of the Inkas?) is amazing, i would recommend it anytime. Their yellow sauce and fries also taste delicious. This is a great and authentic Peruvian restaurant. We love it!

Google
The workers here were SO SWEET!! I went here with my boyfriend right before closing and they were so kind despite the late time. We felt so cared for and the food was delicious. I got the Seco De Cordero meal and would highly recommend. The lamb was so tender it just fell apart. As I left, the owner chased after me just to give me a to-go bag so that I didn’t have to carry it out. This is definitely a go-to spot for Peruvian food

Google
This is the most authentic Peruvian food I have ever had outside of Peru. Very down-to-earth and absolutely delicious. The owner was very sweet and did everything to make us feel comfortable. Don't be fooled by the outside looks of this restaurant, this is a hidden gem!

Google
This place is a hidden gem. The food is incredible, so fresh and full of flavor. I am looking forward to trying more dishes! I ended up with enough leftovers for breakfast and lunch and it was delicious to the last bite!

Google
What an incredible place! Truly Peruvian. I’ve been looking for some good Aji Rocoto and theirs tasted just like it did in Peru! I got the Calamari and man, the ceviche salad is amazing!

Google
Fantastic food. I have traveled to Peru many times and love Peruvian food. This is very authentic Peruvian food. It was hard to find. It’s on Division and the signs are hard to see. Well worth the visit. We had Lloma Saltado. So good. The empanadas were very good too. Friendly staff. Can’t wait to go back. Worth the drive.

Google
👍smells so good opening restaurant door 👍 owners kind, bilingual 👍 dog-friendly 👎website (theirs vs. pre-order vs. google photos) have all different prices. Please edit/delete old menus/prices. An alfajor said $2.50 then a year ago $3.50 so I ordered it over the phone and it ended up costing $5.00 for one alfajor. Very disappointed in that undisclosed expensive price. Definitely not worth $5.

Google
This is by far the best Peruvian food in town. It's family owned and run. Their food is phenomenal. I get food from here all the time. The owners are very nice and super helpful. I cannot stress enough how wonderful this place is. I recommend the aguadito de pollo soup and saltado de pollo. These dishes are by far my favorites and they alone are enough to keep me coming back here. I have yet to try something from here that isn't delicious. I absolutely recommend this place to friends all the time.

Yelp
Food was simple but perfectly seasoned, perfectly accompanied by sides like fried plantain! We got ceviche which had a perfect citrusy and savory flavor. They brought us a complementary empanada while we waiting and we did not wait long. Finally, the place is beautifully decorated in traditional fashion. Will definitely come back and bring my Peruvian friends

Yelp
Great food on division. Hard to find delicious and authentic Peruvian food in Portland, but if you use your detective skills enough, you'll eventually find one. This place has a good selection but the one that has great flavor is the spiced chicken. I really enjoyed it and it goes well with the rice. The salads were good too and the appetizers. You need to try them. Support this small business!

Yelp
My mom is from Peru so I grew up eating Peruvian food. This place is legit. Standard dishes, not fancy, but full of flavor. Highly recommended

Feng H.

Yelp
Great Peruvian food, with staff that are always nice when we go to pick up our food. I wish there was a little more variety in their vegetarian food, but when I ate meat I used to LOVE their rotisserie chicken that came with the variety of sauces. Like buy a whole bird to take home degree of love. It's in kinda a weird location that's easy to miss, but it's definitely worth it!

Azy E.

Yelp
We were craving Peruvian food, one of our family's favorites. My husband, my father in law and my toddler and I were greeted by Claudia. She honestly felt like a relative and brought out crayons and a coloring book. Food was great!! Finished my entire plate and will be coming back. Not only for the yummy food, but for the great conversation.

Yelp
Above all expectations and I knew it was gonna be good! If you don't agree, you're wrong

Francisco F.

Yelp
If the restaurant is closed on Sunday the Owners need to post their hours. Leave a notice on the door, something. It would be appreciated by your Customers. Or leave a recording. No creen? Gracias.

Joey F.

Yelp
I missed this place when they closed two years ago. I was delighted to see them reopen in Portland. The restaurant itself is not a place you go to for ambiance. Parking is on the street. However the warmth and friendliness of the proprietor lights up the place. We had the anticuchos, empanadas, chaufa, cordero seco , and caucau de mariscos . Everything tasted great. I had asked for the caucau to be prepared without salt. Even without the salt, the flavors came through. I'll definitely be coming back here to satisfy my Peruvian food cravings.

Scott E.

Yelp
Okay, my son and I were craving Peruvian and El Inka is a small hole in the wall place but the food was INCREDIBLE! Hostess was super sweet and recommended great Peruvian drinks we'd never tried and they were amazing. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone who loves good food. The soltado dish with chicken or beef, potatoes, rice, onions and tomatoes was in a sauce that took my tastebuds on a joy ride. Can't wait to go back it's the best Peruvian I've had in Portland so far.

D K.

Yelp
Delicious food, and nice people. Locro serrano and Saltado vegetariano both great vegetarian options. Highly recommend.

Misty C.

Yelp
The ceviche tonight was so good!! I love all their sauces. If you are looking to try something new try this place!!

Antuanett M.

Yelp
Their food is so good, you must try it! I'm definitely coming back. The food was fresh and tasty. Try the ceviche mixto, the scallops were cooked to perfection and the fish was delicious ! I also ordered The parihuela, definitely very authentic and delicious. My daughter had the aguadito and loved it. We had the leche asada for dessert, which my daughter inhaled in about 2 seconds, she said it was too good to share

Yelp
If your only experience with Peruvian food is Andina, you owe yourself a bite here. My mom is born and raised in Lima, Peru, and while I was growing up she would always find these hole in the wall, family-run restaurants that served Peruvian food the way it should be, as comfort food. This place is tucked away between 82nd and the freeway on Division, next to a tow truck place and a statue garden. My wife and I would have to drive over to Lima in Beaverton whenever we wanted really good, stick to your ribs Peruvian food, but now we have found our place. We absolutely love this place. If it's your first time, try the chaufa de carne or the bistec a lo pobre (my two favorites). Best of all? My mom loves it too and says it reminds her of growing up. Take it from her, this is Peruvian food at its home-cooked best.

Diane A.

Yelp
Just discovered their new location. (We thought they were no longer in business when they closed their Gresham location.) Excellent food. Really nice people. Parking is a challenge, but worth the effort.

Holly B.

Yelp
Everything was delicious and the portions were huge! I had enough to share leftovers the next day. Awesome little spot kinda hidden away from everything else. I plan on returning 100%

Elaine Q.

Yelp
We drove about 15 miles to try this restaurant and after reading the positive reviews. We arrived around 6:30pm midweek. There was a table of 2 already done with their dinner so it wasn't busy or crowded. Our party of 7 ordered the fish stew, caucau (tripe) stew , chicken in cream sauce (benchmark) seafood soup and roasted chicken. All were delicious and flavorful. Loved the chicken in cream sauce . It tasted creamy and the chicken was very tender. It was this dish that turned me onto Peruvian god and it was a winner. All the dishes were tasty and I loved how it was perfectly portioned that we had even leftovers to pack up! We all tried each other's. But the most nicest thing w as the complimentary chicken and rice soup that was so hearty and full of chicken and vegetables. It was a meal in itself! It warmed me up in the cold evening. The service was quick and courteous too!

Jason W.

Yelp
I am shocked and disappointed that this place is no longer open!!! What? What? What happened? This was the best place in the world and hit every category, anyone have a replacement suggestion?

Daniela L.

Yelp
10 starts for the Rotisserie chicken ... 100 Percent AUTENTIC I had been in many Peruvian restaurants all over the world and eating this delicious dish at Inka Restaurant makes me feel like I am in Peru.... The music, the service is very special.

John S.

Yelp
Grab a roasted chicken from Costco or Fred Meyer and go home and throw it out. They're ok but they don't come close to the flavor delivered by the spice-infused, wood-smoke cooked birds offered by this Peruvian eatery. Owner Claudia Fernandez is from Guatemala but discovered Peruvian pollo la brassa -- barbecued chicken -- in Los Angeles and recreated the dish at home. Her family came to Gresham in 2009 and has been wowing guests every since. The chicken is moist and flavorful and the three sauces provided in squirt bottles are also very good.

Joe M.

Yelp
If I want my fire roasted chicken fix, I'll go out of my way and venture here. After a few visits, I don't think I can find another place that has chicken as moist, juicy, and well seasoned as other joints in town. One of my best friends insisted there is a place that has Peruvian food that won't break the bank. I caved in finally and checked it out myself. The interior is small and quaint. The service is spot on and super friendly. It is best to come here in small groups since the place is not huge. For anyone that is new in coming here - get the whole chicken combo. It can easily feed 2-3 people for about 20 bucks or so. It comes with about 6 or so pieces of roasted chicken with some of the best home made fries in town. They remind me of how my mom used to make them and these are fluffy and tender fries that are waiting to be dipped in the home made sauces. The salad is pretty sad however - just iceberg lettuce and some veggies topped off - I recommend skipping the salad and ask for a substitute if possible. Get the $1.50 2 liter Inca Cola to help wash down all that goodness too. It may not be for everyone but it is definitely worth a try. There are about 5-6 home made sauces you can dip the food in - the red spicy sauce kicks siracha out of the ballpark. The garlic cream sauce is also a great alternative to the spicy red sauce. The green sauce is unique and tastes better mixed with the red sauce. The whole chickens can and have run out in the past due to the sheer popularity and the price factor. Luckily it hasn't happened to me yet but I heard other dishes are just delicious too. So if your looking to try other Peruvian restaurants - this will not disappoint one bit!

Kim H.

Yelp
What a gem!! The fried yucca with the yellow pepper cream sauce was delightfully delicious! The restaurant was clean and the staff very friendly. I'm a sucker for a good saltado and they delivered beautifully! We have found our new go to lunch spot in Gresham!

Christy S.

Yelp
Small, casual, homely, no frills environment. Food was delightful. Peruvian home cooking at it's finest. Aji de gallina was creamy and filling. Lomo saltado was perfectly grilled steak strips. Plaintains were not only cooked soft like u prefer but the sauce, yummmm!!! Lots of Postmates deliveries. Local secret..or not

Courtney G.

Yelp
My husbands family is all from Peru so he has grown up his whole life with Peruvian food. Needless to say, we are happy we found this place! We ordered the half chicken, yuca, and a side of rice and were very impressed! From ordering to receiving the food, it was probably at most 5 minutes. This is such a quaint family owned restaurant and very authentic! We will for sure be coming back! P. S. You can buy a whole liter of Inca cola! We are enjoying the spoils of that now!

Ellen M.

Yelp
We have ordered to-go several times from them. SO GOOD! Love this place! Delicious and authentic.

Janet B.

Yelp
Perfectly spiced and roasted rotisserie chicken, REAL fries, friendly owners, casual dining, and authentic soda. It's a humble establishment, but the chicken and generous serving of fries steal the show. My only disappointment was the iceberg lettuce salad, the tomatoes were ripe and the cucumber crisp and fresh, but iceburg lettuce always is a bit of a letdown for me. The salad is the only thing that keeps me from giving it five stars.

Nicole D.

Yelp
This Peruvian restaurant has delicious and high quality meals and appetizers. We enjoyed ceviche and lomo saltado. Would love to try the Jalea next time. While they need a paint job, the place felt and looked clean. We felt welcomed and well accommodated and we will be back for both dine in and take-out.

Todd W.

Yelp
Wow, this place is a gem. Had three dishes, a cold quinoa salad, a quinoa stew and the chicken saltado. All of them were exceptional. Service was great and you could really tell they were on top of staying Covid safe. Lots of sanitation and touch less pay options. Will be back often.

Nicole B.

Yelp
I've read about El Inka in many posts, blogs and magazines. As a low frills Peruvian restaurant with amazing Peruvian roast chicken. We were in Gresham, to stop by and check out the gift card for cash exchange machines, otherwise, it's not normally an area we're in. Pulled up into the parking lot around 3pm. There were only 2 other tables dining. We started off with empanadas, which were filled with chicken and raisin. These alone were worth the drive, tasty delectable empanadas. Unfortunately the highlight for me was not the chicken. It kind of tasted like baked chicken that was slathered with seasoning. I did not experience the crispy skin, that most wrote of. I missed out. Maybe next time around?

Ram S.

Yelp
One of the best little restaurant with excellent South American cuisine. Very friendly service.

Katherine C.

Yelp
Stopped by while I was in the area for lunch and for $8.99, you get choice of 1 of 2 apps (I went for the cilantro chicken soup - - chicken was ridiculously tender and the soup has great flavor), the entree of the day, which happened to be pollo a la brasca (loved that they have an assortment of sauces as I love to sauce it up. The chicken was good, very flavorful, but could be a bit more tender), and the inka cola. Great value and delicious food. If I'm back in this area, I'm definitely coming back to try other items on their menu!

Lauren G.

Yelp
I love Peruvian food and was so excited when this place moved into the building down the street from my house. It is so good, we have loved getting take out during the pandemic.

Thomas S.

Yelp
8 tables hole in the wall family run Peruvian restaurant. First time eating Peruvian food and we loved the food from this place. We were tired after a long day of driving and sightseeing. We ordered the fish stew plate, 1/4 roasted chicken, and chicken cilantro soup to go. Everything were delicious, especially the soup. I love cilantro and this soup certainly deliver on the cilantro taste. The 1/4 chicken was moist and flavorful. The fish stew had a big fillet of breaded fish cooked in chili tomato sauce and pickled onion. This restaurant really got us wanting to eating Peruvian food again definitely.

Ha T.

Yelp
My first thought upon walking in was "wow." The inside was shiny, colorful, and clean. And there were mouthwatering whole chickens spinning on a spit over a wood (or was it coal?) fire. So of course I ordered chicken, wouldn't you? The chicken was not particularly tender or flavorful. The skin was not crispy. More seasoning, and maybe more brining time before roasting, might've helped. I tried boosting the flavor by heaping on the house sauce. The green sauce was refreshing, but didn't have any kick to it, either. It felt like something was missing. I do have El Inka to thank for introducing me to the alfajores. The cookie crumb was soft and fine, with a smooth caramel center. It's officially on my list of favorite sweets.

Claire G.

Yelp
We haven't done a dine-in dinner here yet, but ever since we moved to Gresham a year ago, this has been our favorite place for take-away. Every single time, we order the whole roasted chicken and fries and salad. The chicken is fall-off-the-bone tender, savory, and is accompanied with a variety of delicious sauces (my favorite being the yellow sauce, my partner's Fijian roots leaning her towards the spicier, earthier green sauce). The fries are not like any pub fries or fast food fries you'll ever get, rather like the fries you used to be able to pick up at the "Steak Escape" in the mall back in the day. Fresh cut, with all of the charm of the potato still in the actual fries! We're pretty shameless when we eat their food. We leave only bones. By the time we've arrived at our house with the smell of the chicken and fries having food-hot-boxed us for the ten minutes prior, we are ravenous. They're super friendly when we pick up the order. Be sure to order early though- they have actually run out of chicken before, which has made for a sad, sad night.

Michael S.

Yelp
Pollos a la Brasa El Inka is simply one of the best dining establishments in the Portland Metropolitan area. My wife and I try to dine here at least once every month and bring friends along to enjoy the excellent, authentic food and superb service. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but I want to spend a little time on their standard whole chicken entree & their version of ceviche! The chicken is perfection! The owner, who is a wonderful and very kind/generous woman, informed us that the chicken is seasoned for two days and cooked over an open flame in a brick oven visible to diners. The skin is just crunchy enough and delectable while both white and dark meat are tender and full of fall of the bone deliciousness. I can not describe how tasty this chicken is and all the flavors that burst into your mouth with each bite.....you absolutely need to try it for yourself! A yellow (mayonnaise based), red (like Asian hot sauce), and a green (like salsa verde) sauces are provided for the chicken...the red sauce is the best IMHO. Their standard whole, half, or quarter chicken plates come with a simple dinner salad served with Italian dressing and out of this world fries that are fresh, not greasy and a perfect compliment to the chicken. My wife loves the ceviche as do I, very different than Mexican or Salvadorean ceviche with a heavy emphasis on the cilantro flavored greens, key lime or bitter orange and a bed of sweet potato. Extremely tasty and not too heavy. You may be enticed to sample another excellent appetizer, the Peruvian version of plantain bananas which are not as oily as their Jamaican or Salvadorean counterparts but equally yummy especially when dipped in the sweet sauce provided. This is a true Portland Metro area gem, reasonably priced, authentic and with superb service....you feel that the owner & her staff really want you to enjoy the entire experience of dining each and every visit. That concern is rare and a commitment to diner satisfaction that is rare! Can't wait until our next visit.....I can already taste the chicken & fries!

Bryan I.

Yelp
Everyone raves about the fire-roasted chicken. If you are going to go there, get it. Ours was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. I don't think it's the best chicken in PDX, but it's solid and very respectable. Probably 4-start worthy. Unfortunately, we found the rest of the dishes far less impressive: - The full chicken comes with a huge bundle of french fries, which 2 times in a row have been really soft and soggy with grease. Our group of 6+ people couldn't/didn't want to finish them. Though I'm not a chef, I was guessing their fry oil temp was too low which didn't give them any crisp. Something as basic and fundamental as making a decent fry shouldn't be a problem! - The Jalea Mixta (kind of a seafood/veggie mix) had that overly-strong seafood smell/flavor...the kind where the stuff smelled it it wasn't super fresh. Not to mention that I'm pretty sure the veggies (consisting of corn, peas, and cubed carrots) were from a frozen bag. - Finally, I found the infamous "Inca Kola" to be, perhaps, the sweetest drink I have ever tasted in my life! The beset way I can describe it is that it's like bubble gum flavored higg fructose corn syrup mixed in equal parts with Mountain Dew; bleh! It's way too sweet to be paired with any dinner item, in my opinion. Admittedly this is directly the fault of El Inka since they don't make it, but beyond trying a couple sips for the novelty of trying a historically Peruvian soda that's been around for ~80 years, I really don't see why they carry it. So yeah, consider trying El Inka to support this unique mom and pop restaurant, and if you go the roasted chicken is by far the best dish to get and highly recommended, but don't blame me if anything else you try is kind of disappointing.

Vinnie B.

Yelp
Came in for lunch and it was very good. Empanadas are nice and tasty, not heavy and greasy. just as good as Pambiche's on the NE side of town. I also had the Ceviche, I'm a huge fan of this dish. When it's done right. This Ceviche hit all my marks as a good one. Fish was fresh, the use of lots of fresh lines and the red onion was crunchy the Aji Amarillo paste was just about perfect, sweet potatoes and regular potato was on point. A must have if you eat here. This is NOT Mexican style Ceviche so don't expect that style. This one is just as great, in my opinion. My friend had the roasted chicken 1/4 cut and it was huge ! Lots of french fries all fresh cut not out of a Sysco truck. I'm lucky to work 3 blocks away. My new hot lunch spot ! Enjoy

Douglas C.

Yelp
We stopped in here when it first opened many years ago, but the place was really funky and served nothing but chicken. Then, as now, the entire back wall of the place is an open-flame rotisserie full of, falling-off-the- bone, roasted chickens. I was pleasantly suprized when we dropped in for lunch today, because the place was, except for the rotisserie, completely rehabilitated. It's still very small, but the inside is nicely decorated, and the menu offerings have been extended to include seafood and vegetarian - smart move. The owner recommended, and I ordered, the Jalea Mixta. It's a plate of fried fish, shrimp, and calamari on a bed of, your choice of fries or yucca. The whole thing is topped with marinated chili pepper. They use something - I suspect lime juice - in the marination process that creates, a pucker your lips, sour chili sauce that is really unique and delightful. I'll be spending some time trying all of their Mariscos offerings - and loving it.

Chris D.

Yelp
I love this place, I hope it stays as it is. an authentic, delicious Peruvian restarant right on the outskirts of downtown Gresham. the chicken the owner makes on their own fire rotisserie stove right in the dining room. -bravo keep up the good work -

Natalie F.

Yelp
Really good food! I'm a vegetarian so I was a little iffy about coming to such a tiny place, but with the vegetarian options a plenty, I couldn't say no. Hubby ordered a quarter of a chicken (he should have gotten a half) with an Inka Cola and I ordered the Locro Serrano (vegetarian dish) with a glass of Maracuya. Hubby's chicken sat a top of a bed of French fries and came with a salad. He ordered a side of beans and was glad he did because he did not realize that a quarter chicken was not that much food. He really enjoyed what he ordered though and could not stop dipping his fries in the beans. My stew was a creamy corn, pea and sweet potato loveliness with rice. Excellent! Service was also pretty great. One guy running all around helping everyone was all it took to get out food and drinks and make sure we were ok, along with everyone else in the place. It was nothing less than a spectacular sight. We will come back here again.

Flory W.

Yelp
We went there because they were recommended by YELP! We've never been there before, nor have we eaten anything Peruvian. I'll post photos on my profile and YOU decide for yourself. I'm adding, then gave minuses for each negatives. They roast their chickens where people in the small dining room can see. Their menu said on top: "Best roasted chicken in town". On their website, "We are on the Best 35 Restaurants". I've heard (not yet tasted) of the Filipino Empanada, I thought I'd try that! I couldn't find anything else on the menu I wanted, so I let my husband order whatever he likes. He ordered the 1/4th chicken with beans and rice and the Inka Cola (made by Coca-Cola), which was unusually good, but I'd rather have no carbonated drink. It's yellow! Our waiter keeps apologizing, about our meal because of the Empanada. That's OK, we weren't sure how long, but he came to apologized to us 2-3x and now I'm starting to wonder. We were the only 3rd one in the room @ that time, but while eating there were three more tables came in, so it wasn't that busy when we got there. So, he handed us a wrapped cookie, before we got our meals. Never mind about that, let's move on to the food. My Empanada came in, it looked presentable, I actually enjoyed it! Hubby's chicken I wanted a piece of his chicken wing, but it looked raw. (see photo). He was starving! But he tried not to eat too close to the bone. What if we ordered half of a chicken, the leg would be more raw, but this is the chicken wing. . . I'm trying not to imagine what the leg would be like. I was grossing out, & at the same time trying to eat my Empanada with chicken & raisins. It was fried in oil, so I am pretty sure they were cooked! I saw some sliced olives in there, but where are the raisins? I started to wonder, and I started to look for them as I sliced them with my fork, and I counted ONE raisin. OK, let me say this again, they were good! Hubby told me, they weren't that great, and he was disappointed! The wrapped cookie, covered with white powder sugar? It was OK. BTW: the bathroom I was told was clean, so was the dining room, so I gave them an extra star.

Yelp
Gresham serves up a winner. Actually, there were a number of places that oozed charm on scenic Main Street, it's too bad the city has a questionable rep. El Inka is located in a strip mall and reminds me of the best Peruvian spots of Los Angeles. This is no Andina in terms of atmosphere, price and authenticity (and that's a good thing.) The Aji de Gallina, chicken in a spiced-milk gravy, was scrumptious! The rice was on the dry side, but this seems to be the norm for Peruvian. Serve this heavenly dish with soft Japanese Calrose rice and the bliss factor goes up. Another wonderful must-try is was a non-meat stew, I don't remember the name, it was very colorful. The three sauces that accompany the meals-classic green Aji being one-should be bottled and sold. Again, the versions Andina offers don't even come close. By the way, I realize the two restaurants are completely different, but most people seem to reference Andina when it comes to Peruvian food. We were also a fan of the fried fish with vinager sauce, a good deal for $9.50. The only slight let down was the classical Alfajores. Andina's version of these caramel cookies is probably the best in town; those from Las Primas in NE are also tasty. It's a popular lunch spot and there's usually only one server. I would run through El Inka's menu like I do with most other places I've rated five stars, but it's just too far to make this happen anytime soon.

Yelp
Looking for a place to try after a Swim Meet at the MHCC, we decided to give El Inka a try. This place is easy to miss if you're not careful. It's tucked in a small Strip Mall and it's plain on the outside. On the inside, it's a cozy small family owned restaurant with the music blaring out of a small stereo and seat yourself dining area. We were greeted by Luis who promptly gave us our menus. One of my favorites has been Bisteca Apanado con tacu tacu. Oh well... not on the menu, but they did have Bisteca Apanado con papas fritas y salad. That will have to do. But before I could claim this for my own, my two kids decided to order that one. I settled for the lomo saltado and my wife got bisteca con tacu tacu. Our meals came out of the kitchen cooked to perfection. I have a weakness for tacu tacu which is refried rice and beans mixed together and fried again. So I traded some of my food for theirs. A shout out to Claudia who cooked our meals. She is so warm and friendly with a big welcoming smile. We will go again when are in the neighborhood. And thank you Claudia for making my night before Father's Day dinner a special one.

Yelp
Chicha Morada, Ceviche, and Jalea Mixta are a must try. El Inka specializes in chicken, but for some reason my dad and I fell for the seafood. We ordered the Ceviche de Mariscos to start and let me tell you, there's a reason everyone raves about it. Its like a Ceviche performance with strong showing by rich, flavorful seafood backdropped by its own iceberg lettuce leaf. We then ordered the 1/4 Chicken and Jalea Mixta to share. The Chicken was tasty with a crisp exterior and zesty spices, though the seafood stole the show. The Jalea Mixta was a crunchy pile of awesomeness with 3-4 fried seafoods on top of fries. You gotta love the Peruvian obsession with fries: they put them in everything and it works. Make sure you get the three sauces: the green aji that's a little heavy on the coarse parsley, the mild yellow mayonnaise-like sauce, and a spicy red sauce that I could swear was sriracha (apparently the Peruvians know good spicy...and its a Thai sauce made by Vietnamese immigrants in Rosemead, CA). The green and red sauce both make the Jalea Mixta all the more exciting, while the yellow sauce (or red if you're looking for a fire in your mouth) actually goes quite well with the chicken. Oh, the Chicha Morada is a must! Such a great, full, and refreshing flavor on a hot day. While we sat at our patio seating (really more of a couple of tables practically in the parking lot of the strip mall), several Peruvians arrived for dinner with the whole family in tow. If you've never been to Peru or tried Peruvian, you need to order the yellow, bubble-gum flavored Inca Cola just for the thrill (though you probably don't need the full 2 liters several families ordered). All told, a great meal with seafood in the leading role, chicha morada the leading lady, and chicken supporting.

Yelp
This is a delightful place. We've been twice, and would definitely go back. Of course the roasted chicken is very good. The Ceviche is terrific, and the array of different sauces - wow. Salad dressing is simple but out of this world. The staff is friendly, and service is good. The dining area is simple, but clean and comfortable. There are lots of interesting choices. We like it a lot, and will return. It's just a bit out of the way for us, but worth the drive.

Yelp
I tried the ceviche de pescado. I haven't been here for a long time. I remember last time has sweet corn and sweet potatoes. It tasted ok but not the best Need to improve in the decor of the place

Yelp
This place is definitely a hidden gem in the Gresham Area and I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for some good roasted chicken. The roast chicken is the best, the portion is great, and it's delicious. Super flavorful and the green sauce just adds a touch. We've gotten take out mostly and the service has been nothing but amazing. Very attentive, the shop is clean, and a small little hole in a wall.

Yelp
Chicken was a little dry. Not much meat on the 1/4 chicken like the usual Peruvian spots I love. The skin was not crispy at all, so it took away from the rotisserie feel, also too it was heavy with a interesting mix of spices, I feel as though it was heavy on it (cumin?). The rice is good but the only thing that saved the experience was the AH-MAZING red sauce they give you. I'd take a bath in that sauce, marry it, die with it its so good. Other than that ... Eh. I probably won't be back unless its to buy a bottle of sauce.

Yelp
I was in the Gresham area for work and was fearing for my food options. My coworker and I were driving looking for a place to eat and I saw the name on the maps app and we headed that way. From the outside it is a fairly misleading store front, it doesn't look like its going to contain one of the best meals you could possibly find east of SE 70th Ave (no offense to people that live this far out, I just love my food carts and such in the inner portion of Portland). We walked in and were greeted quickly, we started reviewing the menu and were hopeful right away. So many vegetarian options (in Gresham!??!?) and other delicious sounding choices. I ordered a 1/2 chicken with beans & rice, my coworker ordered the chicken that was stewed with carrots and onion in a hot sauce. The food was amazing, juicy tender chicken. Amazing herbs and spices, their sauces they provided were great. In fact, I was just there yesterday and will likely be dining there again today or tomorrow. We rounded out our experience with the Inca Cola, what flavor is it? Golden, of course.

Yelp
We tried this place out because of the great reviews and were not disappointed. The menu is great because almost everything on it is something we've never had before. I had the fish in a spicy vinegar based sauce with wonderful yams underneath the fish with rice. My wife had the lamb which I thought had a great sauce and she thought was just okay, the beans that came with the lamb were good. They have a large rotisserie with chickens being cooked by a wood fire. We had to order a 1/4 chicken to check it out, it was moist and had great flavour different from what we've had before. It was good, but with all of the other items on the menu, we'll be trying other things when we return (which we'll definitely do). The owners (husband and wife) and the server (their son) were really warm and welcoming. Just when we were done eating our 3 dishes, they brought out a 1/4 chicken and gave us another plate of food because they were trying a new spicing and wanted to know what we thought. Even though we were already stuffed we said yes because it would have been rude otherwise. It was good but I can't remember what the spicing was.
