Visited from Oregon, stumbled upon this place looking for a spot to each lunch at. Pictures: Tacos de lengua, caldo de camarón, & mojarra (fried fish) Everything was delicious!!! Amazing authentic Mexican flavor, filling portions! Would highly recommend eating here! Bonus: clean place & Friendly staff💕

What a delicious lunch we enjoyed here today. The manager, Tino, is so nice & made sure our meal was scrumptious. Both the Baja Shrimp & Baja Cauliflower tacos were superb and my friend loved all the veggies in her veggie burrito. Hands down some of the best housemade chips & salsa- we went through two orders! I loved how colorful the interior and exterior of the restaurant was. Will definitely return here.

Burritos of heaven!! Toasted outsides with every ingredient FRESH and full of many colors of flavors. Fresh, fresh, fresh! Green and red salsas and fresh chips so good. Horchata yum. New favorite burrito place in SF.

Amazing food — some of the best burritos in SF (even better than the famous spots). But I’m sad that they recently decided to close at 8 PM. This was one of the very few places on Cortland that’s open past 8, but now I can’t eat here if I’m even slightly past the conventional dinner time. As much as I love this place, I won’t be coming as often since they close so early now :( Really hope they reconsider staying open a bit later. Any restaurant that’s open past 9 in Cortland has my gratitude forever

There are so many Taquerias in San Francisco, it's rather difficult to try them all. So I stumbled upon El Jacal while strolling through the Bernal village. If I see lengua on the menu then I need to try it. To me lengua is some of the best tender meat (if done right) one can eat. Yes if done wrong you will get jaw muscle cramps before even swallowing one bite. Well El Jacal knows how to make their lengua and it melted on my tongue. Interesting thought that tongue could melt on your tongue... We tried their tacos and quesadilla and there was plenty of food to share. Their quesadilla is rather huge yet super tasty. The tacos don't lag behind, they reminded me of the quality I'd get in Mexico City. Thumbs up to this place I'd go back.

I ordered 20 minutes ahead on the phone. They said they would start making it. I got there and asked if it was ready before paying (was in a hurry) and they lied to me that it was ready. As soon as I paid is when they started making the burrito. Why lie? It makes no sense

Excellent fresh and flavorful Mexican food for a very affordable price and without a long wait. I am a return customer. Excellent chilaquiles and I’ve also had their tasty chicken enchiladas. They make their own tortilla chips and salsas. Everything tastes delicious and homemade. Looking forward to trying more dishes.

Warm service and the best chilaquiles in town. The salsa roja is addictive and the chips are still crispy- sometimes a difficult combination to achieve.

I was craving some Mexican food. Got the super burrito with chorizo. Staff were very nice and attentive. They brought chips complimentary with our meal. The burrito had a crispy outer shell and amazing quality ingredients. Definitely a top tier burrito on my list. The vibes in this establishment is very laid back and not too hectic. Great place for a snack or late night bite.

We had a fantastic lunch today here. The restaurant is bright & colorful inside and out and quiet today too. Tino is the manager & took excellent care of us. I'd have to say that his house made chips & salsa were some of the best I've tried. We went through 2 batches! My friend had the shrimp tacos (I stole a bite) and they were superb. I loved the sauce & coleslaw. I had the same tacos, but the vegetarian version which were cauliflower and they were equally tasty. My friend had the vegetarian burrito and we were all impressed with the variety of vegetables inside of it. It included spinach and mushrooms, not just iceberg, lettuce, and pale tomatoes. The price was decent- especially considering the quality and freshness. Definitely will come back next time we are in the area.

It's freakin great - and an especially awesome option if you're looking for a dorado style burrito without needing to brave the crowd and parking chaos of La Taq a couple miles away. (Don't tell anyone, but I think they might even give La Taq a run for their money on the dorado style burritos!) My go-to order is the shrimp super burrito - and if you don't tell them otherwise they'll make it dorado for you. (I honestly don't know what this is called in English, but a chatbot tells me it means "a type of burrito that's seared or grilled to create a crispy, golden exterior" and note "dorado" is Spanish for golden.)

So we've eaten here several times plus had a decent amount of food from here eaten at home. The good: 1. Really delicious flavors. They really cook their meats well and the seasoning for everything is really on point. 2. Ratios - everything is in balance. My burritos are well constructed and have no dense sections of one ingredient. You can tell they take their time and make the food with effort. 3. Ease of access. It's rarely super busy. Transactional predictable timely food. Food ordered for pickup is always done in a reasonable amount of time. Good to know: 1. Expensive! $20 for a super burrito. Yes, $20. The inflation pricing here is real. Ordering for a family hits the wallet in a way that's at least 25% more than tacos los altos across the street. I think it's worth it but can definitely factor into my decision to eat out here. 2. The price points for veggie items are equal to those with meat. We order veggie items and I can't help but cringe when a veggie taco or burrito is equal to the cost of one with meat. Not sure that makes sense to me. Their dining room is nice, TVs usually playing something entertaining. Bathrooms are clean. Staff is super friendly and good with kids.

Second time getting food here and it was just as bad as the first time coming. Gave this place a second chance but they totally ruined the "food" I ordered a steak sandwich but they barely and anything in the sandwich but had a half cooked steak that wasn't just raw but fatty. The refried beans was more water than bean. No avocado and maybe a teaspoon of sour cream. The horchata was a disgrace to our culture. Bro, the food was trash. Not worth the 20 that I paid for the sandwich alone

Delicious tacos here. The don't skimp on the proteins, making the tacos a bit difficult to fold, that's not a bad thing at all. I went for the al pastor and the carne asada, cilantro and onions only. Both were nicely seasoned and cooked.

Scammers The price on the menu reflects one price but once they ring it in every item is about 30-40 cents more. The tried saying it was tax.

I was thinking about tacos all day yesterday, and always pass by this place on the bus. Last night my boyfriend, and gave it a try. I had two chicken tacos, and one crispy chicken taco, my review is yummy! Chicken was cooked just the way I like it, the fixings were fresh, and only brought out more flavor in the meat. Crispy taco was amazing with fresh sliced avocado on top! Can't wait to go back, and try some other items here.

As far as Mexican food goes, this is a cut above all the rest. The meats are grilled to perfection.

Love their breakfast burritos- ham, chorizo or bacon. Full of flavor and good size. Florentino is a gentleman and kindly makes our food. Love it here. I am told by other patrons their chilaquiles is the best, I just can't get past my fav - ham burrito. Husband loves the one with chorizo.

If y'all haven't checked this place out yet, do it! I have tried their tacos, quesadillas, burritos and everything has tasted great! They put a plentiful amount of meat/seafood in those items and I've also heard from my partner that their veggie burrito is delicious also! I typically get the above options with al pastor, shrimp or chorizo and I've never been disappointed. They also do specials and on one occasion, I didn't realize I ordered something that came with a crème brûlée. I wouldn't think to get this but now that I've had it, I crave it! Someone on their staff has real talent in the dessert department--it is SO good! I've had both take out and have dined in as well. The take out is pretty quick (10-15 mins) and pretty timely for dine in too. The place is clean, the staff are super friendly and accommodating and overall I'm really happy to have this place nearby. I haven't tried the breakfast yet but I've heard great things from other locals and plan on trying it soon :)

This place is pretty expensive, but you get what you pay for. The food is pretty incredible and they use high quality ingredients. However, the service is pretty exceptionally bad. The last 3 times I have ordered a meal here for pickup it has been late or forgotten. Please improve your order taking process and I will become a regular customer.

Most mexican food in the city i am not a big fan of (it's just ok), but ordered the enchiladas today, something that can EASILY be so average, and they were very tasty... I will be back to try more. And that's a lot more than i can say for 90% of the mexican food in the city!

There are lots of Mexican restaurants in this part of town but this one is exceptional! Great tacos with fresh ingredients and very nice and friendly staff. Saves me a long walk to 24th St

Ordered a Super Nacho with shrimp. Not only could we not find any shrimp, they seem to have replaced it with potato. Big pieces of potato. Really??

Devoured our food and forgot to take pictures! Had delicious tacos and quesadilla. The carnitas were tasty and service was friendly. Enjoyed the carrot lime agua fresca. I will be back!

Just paid $18 for the most disgusting super burrito I have ever had in my life. I don't think my dog can chew through that old stinky carne asada. And let me tell you I've had a lot of burritos in my life time.

Second time here and loved my first experience. I ordered the camarones a La diabla and I confirmed if it was spicy and it wasn't at all and about 7 shrimps. Not worth it. I do love their carne asada.

Got 2 tacos, they were so good, and they hooked it up with lots of meat so you get your moneys worth!

I came to buy cheese enchiladas combo. The avocado was black, and the lettuce was not fresh.
