The 25 Best Restaurants In Barcelona 2024

"Despite being known for great seafood, Barcelona’s sushi scene wasn’t too thrilling until a few years ago, and El Japonés Escondido on the Borne-Barceloneta border stands out in particular as the trendiest and most fun of them all. Start with a steaming bowl of mussels served with a deliciously spicy, sticky sweet-chili sauce before getting into the blue-fin tuna moriawase selection that’s so silky smooth, you barely need to chew. Beyond incredibly fresh fish, what sets this place apart is the excellent service and a dining room that feels more like a late-night drinking joint than a restaurant." - isabelle kliger

The BEST JAPANESE RESTAURANT I’ve tried in my entire life! Dishes are unique, and absolutely delicious. Full of flavours - they will surprise you! Everything we tried was perfect, but I would personally recommended the mussels, the mushrooms, the wagyu and the tea matcha coulant! (Though it’s hard to choose…). Thank you for such a special evening!

We came here our first night in Barcelona and returned 3 days later for our last night. The food is fresh and simply amazing. The staff is knowledgeable, attentive, and very friendly. To our surprise, most also spoke English which was not expected but very appreciative. Our favorite food item was the mussels, but we loved everything we tried. I cannot say enough about Juan who make our experience a memorable one. I highly recommend this restaurant.

All the skewers are excellent, especially squid. Pork ribs is good but doesn't taste grilled. Udon is over cooked and boring. Some natural wine. 1 orange wine by the bottle only.

This is the best Japanese Restaurant by far that I’ve been in Barcelona. Food quality and service are great. The Mojito Sake is on fire!!!

Definitely my favourite Japanese restaurant ever. The food is all just so good and not expensive at all compared to the usual Japanese restaurants. I love that all the dishes are shareable and it’s the perfect place to go with a big group of friends. Cocktails are also great and all the staff are super friendly! Definitely recommend the Mussels and the noodles, they’re so delicious!

Highly recommend this restaurant. We ordered the selection of nigiri sashimi and both were great. We also ordered the ribs, mushroom udon noodles and the miso shrimp. Everything was great honestly. Great design and ambience and the sweetest service ever. The staff are so nice and kind it made our experience more special.

Booked it ahead of our trip as I really wanted to try one restaurant from the Tragaluz group. It didn’t disappoint ! The staff was on fire and we felt super welcomed. The food was very good, we followed the reco from the waiter and got a mix of everything with seafood, fish, meat and the cheesecake. The cocktails were super super good but pity we couldn’t try the pedro pascal Highly recommend the place for a date or just a dinner with friends !!! Max que un Restaurant ;-)

Excellent Japanese restaurant in Barcelona. Great variety of options, delicious tastes and playful textures. The service was very friendly, and Gloria the hostess was incredibly charming and accommodating. If you’re in the mood for a delicious meal in a “vibey” yet chill restaurant, El Japonés Escondido will be an excellent option for you.
