Where to Find the Best Birria Tacos Around Charleston | Eater Carolinas

"Food truck operator JR Villasenor Gonzalez got a bit famous around the Lowcountry as one of the first chefs to start offering birria tacos. From Goose Creek to Mount Pleasant, mobile kitchen El Kiosko can be found serving beef birria almost every day of the week." - Erin Perkins

Charleston Food Truck El Kiosko Serves Pumpkin Spice Tacos | Eater Carolinas

"I've noticed Lowcountry-based Mexican food truck El Kiosko has been gaining followers for its birria tacos, and owner JR Villasenor Gonzalez recently announced on Facebook that he would flavor pork tacos with fall spices to create pumpkin spice tacos. Eater photographer Mike Ledford taste-tested them and came back with glowing short reviews: "Tasty. Kinda sweet and spicy? Close to classic bbq sauce sweetness. Definitely tasted like pumpkin spice but not over the top. Would eat again." The truck tends to travel around Hanahan, Summerville, and Mount Pleasant, and I follow the mobile kitchen on Street Food Finder. Even though pumpkin spice is often made fun of, it makes sense to combine cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves into a pork dish — isn’t that just a Christmas ham? The piece also includes photos of El Kiosko and the birria and pumpkin spice tacos." - Erin Perkins

This place came to my apartment complex. I ordered two shrimp tacos style California. They forgot to put the guacamole on it and I ordered some crazy fries with chicken. The fries were halfway cooked no salt and it looks like the cheese. They just dumped it on top didn’t melt or anything, and it did not come with any other vegetables that said it was supposed to.

My very favorite Mexican food in the Charleston area, by a wide margin. We always order tacos, so I don't know a lot about the rest of the menu, but they're so good. And the folks that run it are so kind and pleasant. We check the schedule every week to see if they'll be anywhere close enough to justify having a taco night. Enjoy!

Prior food was great. Tonight the Tejano burrito was so salty I couldn't eat it. Too bad.
