Where to Find Outstanding Tacos in Greater Portland

"This unassuming white taco truck on Canyon Road sits in a strip mall parking lot next to a soccer store. Inside, the usual suspects like carnitas and carne asada arrive tossed into warm and slightly fluffy corn tortillas that are made in-house. The standouts here, however, are the "choriqueso" (chorizo and queso) and the shrimp tacos, the latter being seared nicely and served with avocado." - Nathan Williams, Ron Scott

First time here. After reading some reviews, went with the habanero salsa… BOMB. Ordered Al Pastor and I swear it’s best off the street I’ve had in this town yet. Son ordered Shrimp and Asada. He said the shrimp were where it was at. Tortillas were all hand made. Salsa was fresh and while it was spicy, had a wonder flavor that was truly unexpected. Everything was so fresh even down to the radishes and limes!! The service was top notch. Helped me decide on what to try and even threw in something new on the house. The price is a bit more than your average taco truck @ $4 a taco on average, but the tacos were packed and honestly I could only eat half as many as my usual. Making it cost efficient. Get the habanero salsa. You will not regret it.

Google
I’ve only had this once, but thought they were great tacos albeit a little pricey, $3.50 each ($4 for some), tacos are a pretty good size though Good quality ingredients (tastes “fresh” for lack of a better word, lime actually had juice and not dry like some places), not too greasy (contrast this to taqueria Al paisano across the street, which is extremely greasy and uses cheap, fatty cuts of meat, but is just as good), and tortilla were tender Cabeza was flavorful and tender. Asada was good. I thought carnitas was slightly bland but decent. Would still try it again. Photo attached, I got the tacos without onions, btw Overall, glad I tried it and looking forward to trying more Bonus points: they gave me two stickers for free Update: I went back again to try the burrito. Also very good and it was huge. Lengua was tender and flavorful. Cabbage gives it good texture. Beans were not too mushy. Overall burrito did not feel too greasy, which was great Btw, they have three different flavor salsas: red (smoky flavor), green (bright w/ a little kick; my fave) and habanero (spicy but not crazy spicy, but not as sour as the green)

I keep meaning to post this, as I have eaten here easily 6-7 times in November since I ‘discovered’ their truck. The tacos are AMAZING. I’m sure the other food is too, but I am stuck on their seasonal shrimp tacos with mashed avocado and mango salsa. The Al Pastor is also fantastic. All the other tacos (carnitas, asada, etc) are good but those 2 are my faves right now. They also make fresh masa tortillas for all their tacos. Not the store bought double tortilla you usually get (which are fine); but a fresh made single tortilla is why I really like their style of tacos. Also, all 3 salsa are very hot for most Americans. The green avocado salsa still has Serrano pepper in it. My parents were very surprised but they survived, after a few glasses of milk. Can’t wait to try a burrito, or maybe the Chingon bowl next. Call ahead if you’re in a hurry, usually takes 5-10 minutes even without a line for tacos. Edit: I have since tried both the Bowl and the Burrito. They are both amazing as well. The bowl is basically the burrito without a tortilla wrap. Both have delicious proper Rojo style rice and seasoned black beans. If I had to pick one, the burrito wins out; unless swimsuit season is coming up. The bowl is a lighter meal, but you can’t go wrong either way.

My wife and I used the El Mas Chingon truck to cater one of our wedding events alongside a few other food trucks. We had met Maribel a few months before our wedding and loved her food – and how friendly she was. Maribel and her team were extremely helpful in coming up with an appropriately sized menu for our guest count and the varied dietary restrictions, plus a special kids menu! Everything went perfectly on the day of the event itself, the food was so delicious that many of our guests kept coming back for seconds!

A friend told me about this spot after finding them on google. Definitely the best burrito in town, consistently. Plus, they can make quesadillas with a homemade corn tortilla that is really unique. I’ve been back a dozen plus times and always left satisfied, with tasty food, respectful and kind service, and big smiles. Highly recommend to anyone looking for the tastiest burritos and more in PDX!

Google
This place serves some of the cleanest, authentic Mexican food. Although it's located in a non-busy area of town, this is an underrated spot that is a must-visit. I got two tacos. One carne asada and one al pastor. Both sizes of the tacos were very generous. They layer each tortilla with a lot of meat, which gives each bite a perfect meat-tortilla ratio. If I had to give one highlight for the tacos, I would say it's the flavor of the al pastor. Usually, I am skeptical of pineapple additions on al pastor, but the pineapple here really elevated the flavor, giving it a nice sweet/savory factor. I also got some green and red sauce, which were both solid additions. I will be coming here more frequently as it's only a few minutes away from my house, and I look forward to trying their other menu items in the future. As much as I want to keep this truck a secret for myself, EL MAS CHINGON deserves more recognition!

Google
Highly recommend. We kept ordering more. Well make the drive and come back, for sure. Authentic tacos. Best quesadillas. Thoughtful preparation. They’re kind. Everything was great.

Yelp
I'm a need it for Mexico and I can tell you that these are one of the best tacos I've had here in Oregon. Everything is always fresh and handmade tortillas...boom !! Habanero salsa is fire!!

Yelp
Beaverton's hidden gem for taco's - El Más Chingón! After moving from Southern California, I've been dying to find a taco spot that me and my fiance would absolutely love. Based on the rave reviews on Yelp, my fiance knew we had to give it a try. The menu included - al pastor, carnitas, lengua, cabeza, you name it. I always go for lengua. But there was also a day they ran out, so I tried their cabeza. SO GOOD. The tortillas were perfectly warm and soft and the salsa was perfect. Their tacos are about ~$4 a pop. So, if you're ever in the Beaverton area, do yourself a favor and skip the chain restaurants. Head to El Más Chingón for some seriously delicious and authentic Mexican food.

Yelp
We discovered this place while waiting for Canyon Grill one night. I had a hankering for a torta, and this place has pambazos. I love pambazos! The place I used to get them from charges something ridiculous like $21 for it now. There's no way. So we decided to try here. I ordered it with carne asada. It was very large, and I couldn't finish it. But pretty tasty. My husband ordered a chicken burrito. That thing was as long as his arm!! Huge! He wasn't able to finish it either, and he always eats everything! Lol My son ordered three carne asada tacos. He loved them! Overall, pretty good and great prices. Very nice to.

Yelp
Delicious, fresh, very reasonable prices for huge portions. The pambazo was amazing. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Opinions from a born and raised Mexican Chingon who is always on the search for good tacos AKA mi Esposito. This spot is a national treasure and they do justice to their food by using fresh and homemade tortillas and chorizo, and a perfect blend of seasoning and ingredients. We had a variety of items from the menu. Carne Asada was good quality without a lot of fat and gristle and was slightly seasoned, Pastor was extremely tasty with small chunks of pineapple (his favorite) again good quality meat. The shrimp taco was one of my favorites with perfectly cooked shrimp, and delicious toppings. Lengua was off the hook delicious! Choriquesso was another favorite. The flavor and texture!! The salsas were excellent! Service was so friendly and good. The pricing is completely fair!

Yelp
So good! Everything is freshly made including the tortillas, and the seasonings & meat are extremely well prepared... mouthwatering. The carnitas is my favorite meat. I love the carnitas in tacos, burrito or in the bowl, it's fall apart tender and moist, it's so good. On my first stop by the truck I had the Pamboza. I'm not usually a heavy food person, but man, soooooo worth it. They take a torta fry it, then dip it in gajillo sauce, then stuff it. My mouth is watering while I'm writing this, it's that delicious. In addition to the fabulous food truck, El Mas Chingon does catering. They brought a truck and catered a large event I was at over the weekend. They did a wonderful job! The tacos, sides, and garnishes provided were the same amazing quality as at the food truck, and they did it all with speed, attention and grace.

Yelp
Listen, this place doesn't have to go as hard as it does. But it does anyway. Best Mexican food I've had in all of Portland / Portland metro. So, so good. From chips to burritos to tacos to salsas. Super cute little food truck, hard working people, freshly made food. It's a weekly stop at this point.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place after my niece's BJJ tournament. Highly recommend their chicken, pastor and carnitas. I think they make their own tortillas??? And their green salsa is bomb!!!! Definitely returning to try their other taco options.

Yelp
First, let's talk about the size of my $11 burrito. It was huge! I added a photo and it's easily the size of my wrist and would def go toe to toe with any subway foot long in terms of size. Second, this place's chingon is the way they melt the cheese inside the burrito. This provides a quesa-burrito vibe that signifies superiority. The beans, rice and chicken I got were decent. I will certainly be back to try other options. I had to look up it's location on its Instagram page since it's mobile. I found it in the parking lot at 8805 SW Canyon Rd. For the West-side, this nearby area is the Mexican food Mecca and worth the trip.

Yelp
We have eaten here at least 20 times already. Everything is delicious, and the portions are always generous. The salsas are fresh and so tasty! Hand made corn tortillas are the BEST in town. Clean, friendly service too! So happy to have this option close by. My new favorite taco place!

Yelp
Burritos. So good. So big. Friendly service. Totally reasonable prices. Salsa Verde is awesome too! Love this place. 10 stars!

Yelp
Best tacos in all of pdx, is a little hidden and secret gem. I imagine the secret will get out soon enough. Fish tacos are so good. Fresh tortilla made to order. Legit!!! Friendly every time been there. Will be a regular customer.

Yelp
The food is always FRESH and AMAZING! The service is always on point, they are so kind and helpful. I eat there at least twice a week and now have friends that do as well. Cannot say enough good things about them!

Yelp
Great food, great service and friendly staff. Everything tastes fresh and homemade, their salsas are SO flavorful. They have avocado, green and red. Small seating area unfortunately. Great selection of Mexican sodas. Prices are really reasonable, the pambazo was $13...for a beauty of a sandwich. Looking forward to trying their tacos next time, it's hard finding places that make their OWN tortillas.

Yelp
We have eaten here twice now, both times it's been great. The tacos are very good, the Chingon bowls are delicious and so are the pambazos! Fast and friendly service with great prices. We'll be back.

Yelp
Really great bang for you buck, their burritos are massive, I have also had their street tacos which are big! Their burritos do come with a lot of cheese in it though. Could have used less of that. But their food is fresh, amazing, great green sauce, and big portions. Definitely check this spot out

Yelp
This foot truck is delicious and well priced. Easily one of the top 5 in portland. Great customer service, great food and spicy habanero salsa!

Yelp
Best tacos in Portland! Fresh made tortillas, tender meat and great salsas with a lot of heat. They provided a company lunch at our office yesterday and EVERYONE raved about their tacos. It was a limited menu (steak, fish and pork tacos with rice, beans and guacamole) since they were feeding a crowd, but they still left an impression. I can't wait to have them again this weekend :) Can't go wrong with this truck! CFM loves you, Chingon!

Shawn S.

Yelp
The best Mexican food in Oregon! It's a taco truck that met my craving and I will be back the next time I'm in Oregon.

Briana B.

Yelp
It's difficult for my boyfriend and I to find good tacos in Portland so we are always hesitant to try new places. We came across this spot on yelp and although there aren't many review, the ones they do have are mostly all five stars. Let me tell you something, this food was great! The prices were great, the workers were kind, and the food was really good. Some of our tacos we asked for them plain but when we got them they accidentally had everything on them. My boyfriend went to go let them know and they were super apologetic and remade them right away. Not only did they remake them but they also gave the tacos that had everything on them back to my boyfriend and said to take them, that maybe someone in his household would want them or would eat them. Not only did this place deliver great customer service but went about and beyond. Really great staff and amazing food, please do go try it won't disappoint!!

Yelp
The Torres Bros are killing it! The tacos are superb! Very authentic. Follow them on IG for occasional daily specials like the pork belly tacos that are to die for! Only suggestion I would have is to figure out an online ordering system. Or not. Keep up the great work. We love having you in the neighborhood!

Yelp
This is one of the better food carts we've found, especially on the west side. Love the fish burritos but everything we've tried has been great. Super friendly people and good portion sizes.

Mich W.

Yelp
We ordered burritos and a variety of tacos. Everything was great! You can tell they care and put thought into their preparation. It will be our new go-to spot that's close to home. The different meats were each accompanied by different garnishes to give them distinct flavors, the burritos were huge, and the green and red salsas were both good. We also loved the thinly sliced radishes!

Vin S.

Yelp
The ingredient quality is off the charts here - perfectly cooked rice, crisp vegetables (an underrated attribute), and the most flavorful tender meat. You can't go wrong with any protein here - fish, carne asada, carnitas, and especially the lengua. The texture alone of the tortillas should put this place in any top 5 list in Portland. Go here.

Jessica G.

Yelp
Best tacos around! This is not scientific but I have tried most tacos in the greater Portland area and these are by far and away the best!

Heather S.

Yelp
Just went for the first time. We ordered a bunch of different tacos and they were all great! The family all had different favorites. We can't wait to go back. The food was so good and they were super fast.

Nikki L.

Yelp
I hired El Mas Chingon to cater an event and they were amazing! Mirabel was very organized and communicated with me throughout the planning process. She made the planning extremely easy. And the food!! Our guests couldn't stop talking about how delicious everything was! Unbelievable! I can't say enough positive things about the food and entire crew! Outstanding service, outstanding food, outstanding family! We will absolutely be booking them again in the future and recommending them to everyone we know. Thank you El Mas Chingon!!
