I've been shopping at @El Mercandito Mexican Market for the past four years and have always received great customer service. Due to severe chronic pain, I'm unable to cook these days. I found out last minute that we're having a celebration for my brother's 65th birthday today, Sunday, August 18th, 2024. When I was figuring out what to do, my husband suggested Mexican food, so we decided to go to this Market on Northgate Blvd for their great food at a reasonable price. It saved me from spending three times as much at the grocery store. Happy Birthday

Google
Great service, let me get an al pastor enchilada

Super nice staff and amazing food!

Google
We had El Mercadito cater for our companies holiday party and we’re nothing but impressed. Everyone in the office absolutely loved the tamales and salsas from El Mercadito. We will definitely be going back here!

jackson K.

Google
El Mercadito was incredible! Their food is extremely authentic and delicious! Their staff is very friendly and they have everything you could need or even things you didn’t even know you needed! The chorizo is incredible and so is their rice and beans! Couldn’t recommend enough!

Rochele S.

Google
This place is amazing! Me and my wife have been looking for a spectacular authentic Mexican restaurant since we've moved up here in March, well we've finally found it! The tamales were so delicious! Nice and not dry at all. The ratio to filling to masa was perfect! The masa was so delicious! The chicharones are the best I've ever had! The customer service was perfect and we felt very welcome there! They also had the calbaza candy that my wife has been searching for since we lived down south. Truly a great place and we will definitely be frequenting often. Five stars all around!

Google
This place is the definition of “a hole in the wall” no social media , no flashy signs just the best Mexican food in Sacramento and I’ve had a lot of bad and amazing Mexican food . The torta is my go to , bread is baked next door and doesn’t get soggy and the ingredients are not just thrown in there they are placed strategically on the sandwich . You’ll never know that this is a 5 star restaurant walking in .

Bernardo B.

Google
This business is great! Amazing customer service and the maza to make tamales is the most delicious. The food is super good and tasty if you like Mexican food. I will definitely keep shopping here.

Yelp
Oh my gosh, I love this place. It's a small Mexican market with a deli type counter. Need tamales? They got you. Craving chicharrones? Look no further. Prefer pupusas? This is your one stop shop. My picky hubby loved everything we got there. I loved the friendly staff. Customers all seemed to be regulars. Now they have another regular. Me.
google avatar

Rody B.

Yelp
Staff are very welcoming when walking in. The tamales are very amazing. The masa for their tamales are delicious. If you're wondering where to get tamales in Sacramento a must try here !

Yelp
We bought prepared masa for tamales and it was the beast masa I have purchased! It was ready to spread workout additional work. The breakfast burritos are outstanding. Super nice people to deal with, you gotta come down and try it.

Jay F.

Yelp
It's a great little restaurant that has awesome food, but their portion of meat can be a little better. If they just added a little bit more to the burritos, Tacos, I think you would have more returning customers. I'm still giving them a five star because the food is always on point, but hopefully they take this in consideration. And the ladies that work there are awesome always very helpful and respectful.

Celeste R.

Yelp
The workers are always friendly and the food I always fresh! The tamales are my favorite, and I love that I can walk out with some of my favorite Mexican food products, too.

Shaitra K.

Yelp
The gorditas were sublime!!! Super friendly folks and they let me sample a few meats!
google avatar

Selwyn M.

Yelp
So good!!! Masa preperada sold here! Had the Buche burrito with the verde salsa. Amazeballs! Key to this place is the people. Family run, supper friendly, clean and seating indoors if you want to eat there. Making my Tamales tomorrow ps, I don't know what Buche is, but it is delicious.

Yelp
Great customer service and BOMB carne asada fries. We were looking for a good carne asada fries and it was better than we were expecting. Definitely coming back here and it's also like a mini grocery store. Their pork tamale was also really good. And their salsas taste homemade which was amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
Hidden GEM ! This is now My favorite spot to eat Menudo! The meat is very tender and the broth is super tasty! IYou get it with warm Handmade tortillas, absolutely must try if you are in the area. Will not disappoint. I also had their Champurrado and it was hot and thick very delicious definitely recommend trying. They have a large variety of different foods on their Menu, the Service is Great! They are very friendly and will be coming back in to try more of their menu options.

Yelp
Best chicharron on the planet... I've tried so many different chicharronas in different places and to me these are the best

Ed G.

Yelp
Very basic setting. Like going to a mom and pop store. But instead it's your grandma's house and she has food for you. Great, I'll have lunch every time. Food was delicious. Service was good. Basic metal chairs and tables. Driving through town but will return on the way back home.

Yelp
My favorite stop during the Holiday or anytime really. Miguel and family run a nice restaurant and store for my annual tamale supplies. I've been coming to their store for over 30 years and love the hospitality and the food. I always make a special run for my masa and make sure to grab a breakfast burrito! Stop in and say hello!
google avatar

S M.

Yelp
Loooove this place!!! Everything we've gotten is so yummy! It also has a little market to get some authentic goodies! Their buche and carnitas is our go to fave.
google avatar

Rosalee C.

Yelp
Was able to get masa quickly. It was easy to work with and was delicious. Service was good. I would recommend it.
google avatar

Sal M.

Yelp
Had lunch at el mercadito, a small market with a small kitchen, but they have my favorite torta de lomo, it was delicious I could only eat half, wife had two carnitas tacos and she loved them! Definitely coming back
google avatar

Douglas Y.

Yelp
I was looking for some tasty tamales and decided to check out El Mercadito. I got 6 chicken and 6 pork tamales. The chicken tamales were exceptional and the pork tamales was delicious as well. They cost about $2.85 ea which is a steal considering today's inflation. I look forward to coming back and trying some tacos next trip.
google avatar

Yakova O.

Yelp
Food and services here is stellar . Been coming here for a few years now and have not been disappointed, the tamales are always a big hit around the holidays and the salsa just makes you smack your lips, Miguel has done an excellent job .

Yelp
This is the third year that we've ordered our masa preparada for tamales from El Mercadito. It's affordable, convenient, and (most importantly) delicious! Christmas is prime tamale-making season, so you do have to be prepared for a wait. We always order a few days ahead of time and this year, we needed to order in person. They have previously taken orders over the phone, but we couldn't get through this year (I suspect that they disconnect the phone because of how busy they are). Ordering in-person takes some time, but it's worth it! Even though they're clearly slammed, the employees are always very friendly and kind. The masa has great consistency and always works well for us. We love our annual trip to El Mercadito!
google avatar

Kristine N.

Yelp
Came here for lunch and it did not disappoint! The staff was super friendly and helpful with answering questions about the menu. They also had a couple items off menu, like fish tacos. We had Al pastor tacos and a chicken torta. Lots of Veggies and really good flavors! There's a small market so we purchased a few items. After talking to the staff, we learned that they're known for their tamales and he even gave us a chicken one to try for free. It was awesome, super flavorful and great masa. We will definitely be back.

Simi M.

Yelp
I highly recommend El Mercadito, food is consistently delicious and authentic, the customer service is outstanding! If you have a chance definately drop in.
google avatar

Sam D.

Yelp
Pretty good! I had a carne asada burrito and birria tacos, the burrito was enjoyable (the meat tasted good, and the other fillings [beans, rice, etc] were pretty tasty too). I also liked the tortilla, though the salsa they gave me wasn't super flavorful. It wasn't the best burrito I've ever tried but it's definitely a solid, well-priced option. I could see this being a Hidden Gem for many people. The birria tacos were okay, they didn't come with a container of stew to dip them in like I was expecting, but the tacos had corn tortillas and the meat was pretty good. I think I would only order a burrito next time though since they weren't super notable, and the burrito was already filling in its own I didn't look around the market too much but it looks like they sell some interesting Mexican snacks as well, which was cool. The service is quick and the store is clean, and there's plenty of parking too

Yelp
This review is long over due! I'm so sorry! Hidden in a small plaza in Natomas, we have a Mexican store that happens to also be a restaurant! I've been to this place I believe twice now and loved it! Walking in, you have metal tables on the right and also food items and drinks, like a store would have. On the left side of the store you can order your food to go or dine in. The prices are reasonable and the portion of foods are HUUGE. Furthermore, this place was named top Mexican food restaurant in Natomas! I don't know what other reasons to give but that should be convincing enough, yes? Lol Definitely give this place a try if you're craving Mexican food in Natomas! It is soo good!
google avatar

Yelp
I popped into this little market today for Taco Tuesday (which is the name in Spanish - lol). $1 tacos on Tuesdays. I picked up a dirty (Sanchez), hehe I mean dozen. Carne asada, pollo and carnitas. The place is a little market and a nice lady helped me. They sell all sorts of Mexican foods and staples. $8.99 lb for Chicharon! There are 3 tables for dining with Tapatio and Valentina hot sauces and a salt shaker. The tacos were good. The meat could use some seasoning and moisture as they were a bit dry. I plan on coming in for their chiaquiles, tamales, burritos and menudo among other things. I have been here a couple times in the 15 years I have resided in North Natomas. I will definitely be back. Come in and support this little market that is family-owned and operated. They are very nice and you will get some solid Mexican food and staples here! Ya heard!

Yelp
THE BEST TAMALES! Finally found the best tamales in Northern California. I know I have found the best ever chili and cheese tamale, with 2 kinds of chilis and fabulous cheese that's soft, delicate and fresh from the steamer, not overcooked like all the others. Order in front of mine was for gorditos that looked amazing! It's a well worth drive, for the best, fresh Mexican food at a reasonable price This family owned place is a must for all you mexican entrees. His salsas are amazing too. The best service by a caring owner. I want to support business' that appreciate me. There's a couple tables to eat there, or take it home. I can hardly wait to go back. So glad I got a dozen tamales.

Davina M.

Yelp
My favorite spot to go for nachos, carne asada tacos, tamales, horchata. Don't play yourself, treat yourself customer service is always welcoming and warm
google avatar

Mitch A.

Yelp
Open early on Sunday morning really helps cause unless you want the usual fast food not a lot of places open that make real food, I ordered a breakfast burrito and was completely happy, all fresh ingredients, and nice and hot on a chilly morning, I recommend if you're in the area!

Tina A.

Yelp
Didn't know until I got home that I got charged for using a card for payment. Other establishments mention that before a final payment is done. The food was excellent. And the worker kept washing her hands as she prepared our orders. She was very courteous also.
google avatar

Alisha M.

Yelp
Came to get some Masa for New Years. Staff were really nice and accommodating. We ended up also ordering a couple of their tamales and the Ranchero Super Burrito. The tamales and the Ranchero burrito were really good. Full of flavor and had a nice spicy kick. I really enjoyed the burrito and will be getting another one soon lol. The masa was really fresh and helped me make the best tamales.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food! Excellent Masa and Bulk Carnitas for any occasion. I've been going to this location and their other small store since I was 13. I'm 67. My whole family goes there.

Ebanee J.

Yelp
This place feels like a real Mexican market. The food is great! They sell real Mexican chips and candies among other Mexican household goods. This is the spot

Yelp
My friend wanted to buy some masa to make tamales for Thanksgiving and El Mercadito was suppose to have some amazing masa. We were hungry and it was #tacotuesday so we ordered tacos. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered an asada taco and an asada sopes. M The food came out and the taco and the sopes were both pretty good. There were 3 tables and plenty of seating so we sat and ate our food there.

M M.

Yelp
There's a lot of great Mexican spots in Natomas, just drive up and down Northgate, but hands down this place is the best. Little hole in the wall with a small market inside. Everything I've tried has been solid or exceptional. Sopes, Chile Verde, tamales, carnitas, birria, chile relleno...the list goes on. Their refried beans stand out, perfect texture and flavor. They're also all very friendly and hospitable and will offer samples of their meats, which is what hooked me on the Chile Verde. They sell fresh masa I've yet to try, but it's on the list!

Yelp
I have been a customer of Mercadito long before they moved into the location they are in today! They have great food. But today I ordered a chicken taco salad with no beans instead add rice. They have never charged me for that substitution. Well today they charged me $1.50 to put in rice instead of beans. Let me tell you rice is way cheaper than beans. So this was ridiculous this lady needs her Grandson running her business not only can he math but his customer service skills are amazing! So beware dont let them rip u off.

N. N.

Yelp
Get the chicharron papusa!! Then get a bean cheese and chicharron FIRE! You can see the lady hand tossing it in the back ! The hot sauce for papusa is a good spicy like habanero it's different than the one for the tacos. The cabbage salad is bomb. Tacos are mid, horchata is good but a lil chalky. Been coming here for yearrrrs sweetest ladies work here. It's a lil market with all the snacks, groceries, and cooking supplies. It's next to a nail supply store and shop that I frequent that's why I stopped by, anyways you won't regret it !

Yelp
Checked the reviews and it was really high so I decided to bring my daughter here. She ordered carne asada fries which was $15. Pretty high but again they had high reviews so I told her go ahead and order it. The lady that took our order didn't speak english which was fine with me but what I didn't like was her attitude. She was rude and had terrible customer service. Mind you I didn't say anything to her. I let it slide because again she couldn't really understand me. At the time I thought she was alone because after she took my order she went in the kitchen and started cooking my daughter's order. When it came out it looked good. French fries was fresh and when she started eating I realized her order was basically all fries and toppings and BARELY ANY MEAT. I thought it was under all the toppings but when I looked there was nothing. It was all fries. I went up to the lady that took my order with the food in my hand and showed her what it looked like and the amount of meat that was on there. She then argued with me instead of listening. Mind you now there's 2 ladies working. Another lady was in the kitchen and heard what I was trying to tell the lady taking orders. I tried my best to communicate with the lady that made the food but she was so rude and tried to argue with me. Lady in the kitchen stepped in and said she'll make a side of meat to add to my daughter's order. At this point I was irritated and disappointed. I had high expectations because of how high of a review they got. Service was terrible, food wasn't as great. I will not be back.

Yelp
My family and I ordered Tamales for Thanksgiving. I've had their Pozole and Menudo before so I knew the tamales were going to be good. We ordered Pork, Chicken, Cheese&Chili tamales. Everyone LOVED them. I can't wait to go back to get more. So much flavor and perfectly made. This is a family owned business. They are always so friendly and helpful when we go in. I would definitely recommend them. The food is amazing.
google avatar

Nelly T.

Yelp
Masa for tamales is the best!!! Super soft, service was great! They don't have meat but they do offer breakfast and you can eat there or take it to go. Most people took it to go while I was waiting for my masa since they only had one table and two chairs inside
google avatar

Phil P.

Yelp
Good food. Good service. Good people. Best carnitas on Northgate! Been enjoying this place for more than 10 years.
google avatar

John I.

Yelp
I'm a typical Roseville boy and love to go to spots like this. The food is great, the people are friendly and I get to see a culture that I normally do not get to see. I go here whenever I am in the area and always leave with candy for the kids.
google avatar

Rosie G.

Yelp
Carnitas , rice, beans , salsa and homemade tortillas are really good here . Staff is really nice and friendly.

Jeni R.

Yelp
Needed to stop and get Pozole ingredients and happened upon this market. The market was clean, organized and had friendly staff. Got the supplies needed and a few additional items... churros, tamales and salsa. Wow, wow, wow... some of the best tamales I have ever had. I would recommend the cheese ones, spicy But so good. I will defined be back!

Yelp
Been looking for a spot like this ! The guy behind the counter seemed to know everyone coming in and the tacos were on point!! Tortillas tasted hand made and authentic. Red sauce was good but the green sauce was Great ! Friendly service and won our business. Will be coming back Soon !!
google avatar

Cesar C.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem in the city. We have had tacos (Al pastor, chorizo, asada), tacos dorados, chicharrones, champurrado, and many more. By far the tamales are the best, we usually get green and cheese ones. The service is also pretty good and we always find something to try around the store while the food is prep. Looking forward to try the menudo that I see everybody recommends.

Don B.

Yelp
I came in after work and wanted to buy 10lbs of masa. They were out. I knew I should of called ahead. But the guy felt sorry for me cause I was asking to buy the stuff so I can make it my self. He could. Of sold me the supplies.... but he didnt..... he told me to give him 30min and he would make.me a fresh batch.... I was so great full. 5stars you have a customer for life!!!
google avatar

Karen L.

Yelp
El Mercadito has the best Tortas!! My favorite is the Torta al pastor it's so Fye !!!! comes with a side of fries total of almost $10. Delicious
google avatar

Jackie A.

Yelp
This place is a hit or miss when it comes to their hours. Don't bother getting there at opening hours. Today was the 3rd time I've gotten there at 9:30am & waited. Today was the last time. Got there at 9:30 & waited 20 minutes. Nobody showed up. I guess they post business hours but open when they feel like it.

Yelp
WOO-HOO!!! This place has *THE BEST* Mexican food around here. & I'm not lying. If you're looking for great customer service and amazingly fresh and authentic Mexican Cuisine you have to come here!! When have I steered you wrong? Miguel, one of the owners is always so cheery and helpful--always willing to suggest you the best platter for your needs. I've tried almost their entire menu: *Pozole *Menudo *Tortas de Asada *Tacos de Al Pastor *Tacos de Chicharron *Tacos de Carnitas *Torta de Jamon *Tacos de Asada *Quesadillas *Asada Fries *Tamales *Champurrado *Aguas Frescas; Guava, Sandia & Horchata! Looking back at all I've had at this awesome place, EVERY SINGLE MEAL has blown me out of the water. You just have to try this place, already!! *-Bonus-* Taco Tuesdays= 99 cents!! You can order for pick-up, or dine-in. There are a couple of tables inside where you can enjoy your hot meal. Can't wait for you to go. I just know you're going to love it. Let me know how you liked it! ;o)

Yelp
The people are very nice and welcoming. Love the burritos, and the masa for tamales. Highly recommend them.
