"Best known for its fresh tortillas and tortilla chips, El Milagro also operates restaurants alongside its stores. Guests line up in the cafeteria-style dining room for traditional Mexican fare like tamales, stews, and tacos. The grilled steak tacos are a favorite in particular, loaded with big chunks of beef, rice, refried beans, and cabbage. They’re larger than the average tacos and just two should be enough to fill most stomachs. Online orders can be placed here." - Ashok Selvam, Eater Staff

El Milagro has been one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Chicago for years now. Their chicken mole tacos are incredible. You honestly can't go wrong with any of the tacos. Prices are very reasonable and the tacos are super filling. I have been to a couple locations and they are very consistent. If you haven't tried El Milagro then I would highly recommend it!

If you're new here, I suggest taking a moment to read over the menu. It was my 1st time here, and the language barrier was an issue while ordering. I'm almost sure most of the staff only speak Spanish and can understand and speak bits of English. Understandable. Have some patience, and try reading over the menu prior so that you know exactly what to order. I ordered 4 steak and 4 chicken tacos. The tacos come with rice, refried beans, and cabbage salad. Cabbage salad was a 1st for me. I didn't care for it on my tacos. It's raw cabbage. That's it. I asked for onion and cilantro. They don't have it. The steak tacos were 🔥 🔥. I got them without the cabbage. The flavor of the steak was good. The char was amazing. I also like that they serve the steak whole and not chopped up. The chicken Taco was just okay. More seasoning was needed, and it was a little dry. This is also served whole and not chopped. Also, sour cream is 1.50 extra. That's crazy. I spent $42.56 on 8 tacos with no extras added. No cheese. No sour cream. At almost $5 per taco, that's steep. I'd say the steak is worth a try. 3.5 stars

Awesome Mexican restaurant. Tacos were fresh and flavorful, containing generous portions of meat. Staff were kind and efficient getting orders out at a busy time of day. Prices reasonable. Atmosphere lively. Would return!

This could have easily been a 5 star review. However I’m being kind by giving them 2 stars. I came in during busy lunch hour. Ordered Chile relleno dinner and one taco for dine in. I got my number and put it on the table. After about 10 minutes and noticing that people who ordered after me got their food, I went up and asked for status. Cashier said another 5 minutes! Ok I went and sat back down. After 5 minutes I asked again. I noticed my plate was sitting ready all along. They gave me the food which was cold at this point and without my tortillas! Had to go ask for tortillas. Absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable.

Top tier tortillas that are loaded up with delicious meats. The stewed beef was my favorite by far! I only regret not getting a pack of tortillas to go

Man, El Milagro is the real deal. These tortillas? Fresh out the oven, soft and pillowy, and they’re perfect for whatever you’re cooking up at home. I grabbed a pack of their corn tortillas for around $6 and a couple of their ready-made tacos—those things were fire. The taco fillings were loaded, flavorful, and straight up delicious. This place always hits the spot when I need to elevate my meals at home or just grab a quick bite. If you’re in the area and haven’t stopped by yet, do yourself a favor. Worth every penny.
