El Moro

OMG I can’t believe people are leaving 1-star reviews just because they waited a long time in line. This place is a viral sensation, and no one’s forcing you to go. They also only opened a few weeks ago. I was in the area on a Saturday morning, so on a whim I checked out the fabulous new El Moro Churreria in LA. The massive weekend lines hadn’t started yet—and I even got a parking space in their small parking lot. Delicious, fresh, hot cinnamon sugar churros with a caramel dipping sauce! I look forward to trying their rich hot chocolate drinks next time—and surprisingly, the friendly young gal at the register said they also make a carne asada torta that sounds delicious, too.

Their specialty are churros. They make em fresh and come out piping hot. Nice crunch, very sweet but I wish they offered ones with cinnamon sugar, too. Don't even really need a dipping sauce but, if you do, both the cajeta and lechera (condensed milk) are yum. They have three different meal deals for about $15 but they don't allow substitutions so I ordered 4 churros, 1 cajeta dip, and the small (16oz) champurrado for a total of $20.85. Not exactly cheap. It's $5 less if I you opt for the hot chocolate Deal#1. I'm eyeing the #3 torta special for my next visit. I was here for opening night and left empty handed after 2 hours of waiting. It's just over a week since and i arrived around 430p on a weekday. Less than a 5 minute wait to order and the same for pickup. I'm sure it gets packed in the mornings and they have plenty of people enjoying the seating. The music is classic boleros and such. Lends a really nice atmosphere to enjoy the sugar.

So happy they opened here finally that store, love their products so much, have some indoor space to sit, about 5 tables for 4 ppl, and outside about 8 more tables. When I arrived wasn’t a big line to order but it took longer the Mexico or in the other store at The OC for the order. But their churros are great, little bit too sticky it enough crispy as I remember but, they just opened I am sure the new stuff will get things done perfectly soon

The churros are delicious, you can see while they’re preparing them. They’re so tasty and fresh! We ordered the combo w/ the chocolate Español (so we can dip our churros) a chocolate milkshake and a guava dip! 10/10 I know this place from Mexico and it never disappoints. The only inconvenience would be the parking 🅿️ because the whole place was packed… that’s why we decided to have it to go. The line was quite long but moves fast thanks to the great customer service.

Very authentic Mexican music and nice comfortable place to hang out. Came the second day it opened and the line wasn’t too long but still waited almost two hrs 🫠 their Consuelo was delicious- two churro cookies with two scoops of strawberry ice cream. We also tried a cafe de olla iced and an iced French coffee .. neither of them were sweet but it was doable. There’s sweetners available if you want some (Splenda, Sweet N Low and C&H white cane sugar). Their torta was ok, but it was practically just the asada meat and the bread because we removed the only two other ingredients it comes with which were cilantro and onion. I was offered a salsa and it kinda helped but it was pretty plain. The bread and meat weren’t too bad but just wanted to put in this review in case it helps anyone else. There’s merch available, service was great and we were approached by Thomas who was very kind and welcoming. He em toons they had a great opening night and they stayed open until 1am. That is so nice of them to have served until that time when they close at 11pm. Today was pretty hot and it was so nice of them to go around giving samples of their cold strawberry water which was refreshing. There are some parking spots but it’s still blocked off. So we looked for parking in the nearby streets. There is a ramp for wheelchairs and handicap parking available. There’s also restrooms inside the location. Update: visited again Jan 31st (third day after opening with other friends) tried their churros, hot Spanish chocolate which was not thick like in their picture, we wanted it for dipping but got disappointed to see it had a very liquid consistency. Also got a French hot chocolate but it was very similar to the Spanish hot chocolate just slightly different flavor. Overall churros were ok in flavor jsut missing a bit of the sugar and cinnamon but the $2 cajeta helped. The other thing that I felt disappointed with was their customer service. We respectfully inquired about the rest of our order and we were given an resolution se with attitude to just take what we were given and to wait until they called us for the rest. Perhaps it was rush hour or worker was tired who knows but customer service matters a lot. Her name tag said Aisha but hopefully they get a bit more training on that end. The line moved much more quickly today perhaps there was more staff. We waited between 30-45 mins compared to second day we waited almost 2 hrs for the same amount of line. If you’re around the area, definitely give it a chance and decide for yourself. Would definitely recommend the strawberry water and the Consuelo (churro sides and ice cream)

It’s a yes from me! Will definitely be back. We split a carne asada torta, and each had a special combo #1, with a mexicana hot chocolate and a oaxaqueño hot chocolate. The torta was delicious, better than I thought it would be! Delicious bread and salsa and comes with a lime and traditional carne asada with cilantro and onion. Don’t let the churro size fool you! I couldn’t tell online but they’re about 2 feet long each one and we had definitely over-ordered. But delicious, again, better than I thought they would be. I was thinking they’d be dry but they weren’t, they were nice and moist in the middle. I had ordered the oaxaqueño hot chocolate but ended up switching with my partner, he liked mine, I liked his, both delicious but just preference. Food: 10/10 Atmosphere 8/10 (could have more indoor seating) Service 9/10 (I think the flow line needs working, food comes out quickly with no wait, but ordering took awhile)

The churros and chocolate are delicious, true Mexican style. I’ve had them in Mexico City too, these are just as good. They are new and were very hyped before opening, so the lines are very long but that’s to be expected. They move slow because everything is fresh, which is a good thing! Knocking one star because things do come out at different times and I’d like my drink and churros out together, but I’m giving them some time to smooth things out.

The churro was amazing — perfectly crunchy on the outside and warm on the inside. Absolutely delicious. The hot chocolate is to die for and definitely a must-try. I was really disappointed with the café de olla though. When I got home I ended up tossing it because the flavor just wasn’t good; it had an almost burnt coffee taste. The champurrado was okay, but it had a bit too much masa for my personal liking. Overall, since I’m a huge churro fan, I would definitely go back for the churros and the hot chocolate.
