"This taqueria began by selling tacos in a stand in front of a liquor store on Harry Hines. The original location opens early for travelers wanting a hearty breakfast before heading to Love Field and as a first stop for locals after an early landing. The machacado breakfast taco features dried beef, eggs, and cheese in a flour tortilla. It’s salty and scrumptious in all the right ways. One can also opt for a breakfast quesadilla, with a choice of potato, chorizo, or bacon with eggs and melted cheese." - Henry James Ferry

I always come here for the chicken and beef nachos. They’re so delicious and you can tell the chips are homemade! The chicken and barbacoa tacos are also pretty tasty! 10/10

Google
The place was delicious, good food and the prices are great, mid average. The bathrooms were clean. The staff was friendly. They have a fresh salsa bar. I ordered the steak tacos 😍, they were fresh and delicious. I definitely will be back again.

Food is always good here.

Google
I went to this place for the first time and ordered 5 tacos, 2 pastor, and 3 carne asada. After the second pastor, I started feeling sick and have been having diarrhea for a week! I will never be going back!!

Google
Bomb local taqueria. Prices are all under $10 and they give you a lot of food. Location is small best for parties of $6. Parking is tight. But food comes out really quick and staff is friendly. Locals recommended this place and with all the competitors in the area this place comes out on top. Ingredients are fresh, meats are cooked well and the place is really clean. Great lunch and dinner spot. Everyone was raving about the tacos and opting for the fajita seasoned beef instead of any other type of meat

I have been supporting this establishment for years now and they have always been on point! As soon as I order them on DoorDash the stuff goes down! I never get my full order! Even if im specific I. Notes of what I need! I ordered nachos today with a side taco and I got no meat for the nachos! I had to use the meat from my taco! They never have full order correct when i order through doordash! I have noted several times how ihave been patient and did not wantto do this! Andddddd instead of meat they gave me beansssssssss! Im allergic to beans! As I have informed them in my notes "NO BEANS"

Google
There's lots of Mexican restaurants very close by, I was not sure which one to choose. I Got so LUCKY! The Woman who took my order was Professional and Nice. When the Cook finished with my Quesadillas, he was Very Nice also. So their Salsa bar has 4 sauces, some Cilantro and onion and I think cabbage. The verde salsa and the lighter green sauce are so amazing. I have Never liked any of the orange colored sauce at other Mexican restaurants, but they put an orange/red sauce in my to go order...I tried it and IT WAS HOT- TASTY and So Amazing. The rice and beans are So fabulous- the meat in my quesadilla IS TENDER AND FLAVORFUL!! BEST FOOD I HAVE HAD IN A VERY LONG TIME!! BEST MEXICAN FOOD I EVER HAD.

Yelp
So I went in just before closing because I was craving tacos. Location had 1 customer in it who took an order to go. I walked in and was greeted by the employee. Who asked what i wanted hadny been to an El Paisa in a few yrs last ime I came to one the food was good. I told him I was looking over the menu. I decided on 5 corn tortilla tacos. I asked for 2 fajita, 2 Barbacoa, and 1 Carne asada. He said it was only to go orders, and I said ok. I paid around 12 bucks and change. For just the food and forgot my drink so I ordered a large tea and paid another 3 bucks. Food came out pretty fast, and it smelled delicious So, I took my order and left. Went down the street and pulled down the tail bed on the truck, and opened my order. It wasn't disappointing the tacos were full. The only thing I forgot to ask for was grilled onions‍. Tacos 6 outa 10 were really good and soft Red salsa 6 outa 10 not too hot but flavorful Tea 3 outa 10 it was just tea nothing special Waiting are 5 outa 10 it was clean. Sorry, I forgot to take a picture cause I scarfed them down. All in all, I would come back. The tacos are a little pricey, but they were pretty stuffed, so it evened out Side not I did see the breakfast menu and def want to try that in the future!

Yelp
I drove past this place a few times and there's always cars in the drive thru and parking lot. I was a bit intimidated with the drive thru to be honest. It was night time and there was already 4 cars lined up. Supposedly, you order on the left side of the building (pov: you're looking at the restaurant straight ahead) and pick up on the right. I decided to just go in and order. It was pretty tiny on the inside. There 2 small dining areas. Most were 2 or 4 seater tables/benches. A younger kid took my order and was super friendly. I got the combination plate with 1 Carne Asada Taco, 1 Cheese Quesadilla, 2 Chicken Flautas, Rice, and Beans. It cost about $9 with tax. It took about 5-10min. I got confused because they called my order out in Spanish but I realized it after a second call. They have a little metal cooler thing next to the cash register with different salsas and cilantro and onions. Definitely check it out and take some cups on the side to take home. They gave me the creamy red/orange salsa and a more green translucent salsa. In the cooler was maybe a creamy green (maybe avocado based salsa). Both of the creamier salsas were my favorite. They definitely have a little kick so if you don't like spice at all, leave it be ;) Anywho, got home and cracked the box open. Everything was fantastic! I will say, I wasn't a fan of the quesadilla but they're not my thing to begin with. The Carne Asada taco was so flavorful and had pretty big pieces of steak. The chicken Flautas were absolutely amazing. I've ordered them from other restaurants and they were dry. These were freshly prepared and fried. They were topped with sour cream and lettuce. I almost came back here for lunch the next day. Give this place a try for sure!!!! Don't let the outside or neighborhood deter you.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Authentic Mexican Fare - We stumbled across this place when it was a tiny little place over on Walnut Hill in Garland. Then they moved over off 78 and George Bush...into a much bigger location. The Breakfast is what drew us in originally. I loved my Guela's chorizo con huevos, and finding just the right chorizo is hard...either too much grease or none. Well, this place hooked me upon the first bite of my breakfast tacos! Then I moved on to migas/chilaquilas and man it just kept getting better! My family now goes there for breakfast or dinner and the selection is great! Now, this is not a sit down and look at a menu type of place. They have a selection of precooked items in steamers so you can select what you are eating as you go thru - think of Chipotle...... But they throw the meat on a flat top grill in front of you so unlike Chipotle you get freshly cooked meat without all the grease/juices you would get if you were to pick barbacoa. The meat is still juicy, just not dripping in grease and fat. The caldo and guiso selection is quite impressive! And they have all the fixings and sauces on a separate table so you can top off your food any way you want! You can get just tacos or buritos, or plates......for really great prices! There is much to chose from and if it is your first time there just ask for help and they will walk you through it all! GREAT FOOD AND STAFF!

Yelp
This place has great food, I've almost tried everything on the menu an they have yet to disappoint! An they speak English for non Spanish speakers

Cassie P.

Yelp
A little confusing using the drive thru, you order on the left and drive around to pick up your food on the right side. Backwards from what most drive thru's are set up. Food is so dang good! This is our favorite location to visit.

Quincy S.

Yelp
Tacos are subpar and the drive through was extremely slow considering I was the only car in it. Waited 10-15 minutes before I could even order and I was the only car in line. Better options next door and across the street.

Megan M.

Yelp
Super good food, local, try the spicy brown sauce. Really nice people and quick food coming out!

Ulander V.

Yelp
The is deliciously awesome. On weekends they serve great Menudo and Pozole and everyday Caldo de res. It's a small business but always busy Not stingy with the meat either.

Trey C.

Yelp
Amazing, made from scratch balanced ingredients!! Walked in for first time and greeted by woman/owner/cashier with very welcoming words. Looked up at the menu and fair prices and ordered a steak burrito.. darn thing was loaded with so much flavor I didn't have time to take a photo.. Something about in Texas you want authentic Mexican not Tex Mex!!

Courtney P.

Yelp
There are tacos next door and across the street but if you DO NOT stop here you are losing! The food here is amazing! They make the cheese so GET THE NACHOS! Add fajita beef and onions like me! I also live for the breakfast tacos. Red sauce for the morning, green sauce for night! Everyone I take here is addicted. Take it from me and eat here!

Khoi N.

Yelp
I got Al Pastor tacos and they were too dry. My coworker loves this place, however, and she got their nachos. They were alright to me. Might give this place another try but not too sure what is good to get here and if all their tacos are that way.

Kulpreet B.

Yelp
My husband visits this location everyday for lunch. The reason being the drive-thru! Super authentic Mexican food with a drive-thru! What more could a person ask for?! This visit my father-in- law and I tried the Big Burrito Dinner and the 3 Enchilada plate with red sauce. The food was delicious. The serious was quick and friendly. Will return. Ps. My husband orders the bean and cheese burrito everyday... so it has to be good.

Alison K.

Yelp
Delicious and authentic. Had three street tacos: chicken, beef and pork. All three were amazing. Beware of the green sauce ... it is SPICY!!! And be sure you get a horchata. It is also so yummy!!

Andrew A.

Yelp
Spots pretty good. Meat tastes great and so do the ingredients, the corn tortillas could stand to be a little less tough though. Not sure if its age or just the time it took to arrive via delivery, think flour tortillas w fajita would be super bomb. The breakfast taco was perfect

Casey J.

Yelp
We love the breakfast tacos and the avo salsa - nummy nummy. We add beans to ours to make it complete.

Marco M.

Yelp
The nachos that I received were amazing and super filling. This place was super affordable and really good for the price. The agua de piña was also really amazing too. I'm always excited to come eat here. The staff make you feel welcomed always.

Keith C.

Yelp
I have gone to this location a few times, people are not very friendly each time I go, and they don't listen very well when you say NO ONIONS! But no big deal food has been ok not the best. But today they (the lady took the order ) was very rude and the food tasted like it was left out on a shelf for days. Just another Taco stand that will last a few years and gone.

Danielle W.

Yelp
Two things you will find on every corner in Texas a church and a taco place. Tacos in Texas are like people they come in all shapes, sizes, colors and backgrounds. El Paisa is your traditional taqueria street taco, also referred to as a "gas station taco". Growing up around authentic Mexican food from a family friend I'm usually very particular about my food. First things first if this maters (which for some it will) they have white corn tortillas!!! Most taquerias in the city have yellow corn which is a completely different taste. I went with the mindset to grab a couple chicken tacos, come back home crack open a beer and watch some pre-season football (yes very Texan of me). When I got there the menu was full of choices and I contemplated changing my order multiple times. I stuck with the tacos and got a side of mexican rice. All of it was very good and made from scratch. The rice has peas and carrots (if that bothers you) but its a very authentic common thing for either that or corn to be in the rice. I will definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu and will be adding this as a go to quick drive thru (or eat in) spot. Definitely try it out, you won't be disappointed, good authentic food at a very good price!!

Richy L.

Yelp
TACO SPOT So, we came here after getting a corn in the cup across the street at the gas station/laundromat, right? Then found out they have good tacos al pastor here and Lengua. If you like lengua, they have a good selection here compared to a lot of other places that don't cook it right and chop it into raw squares. NOT TOO GREASY which is A1 for me. Great tacos, Just pricey. Don't over order and over eat here, because your wallet will feel it later. * Service: 8 - they take a care of you quick and easy * Deliciousness: 8 - it's all good! Mannnn, try both of the red and green salsas for some good added flavor * Visually satisfying: 7 - it's small, but they've done well with the space they have. Cool brick on the walls w/ Mexican pictures. They have 2 Tvs playing TeleNovelas and soccer all the time so that adds to the feel. * Cleanliness: 7 - not bad for a small place. Restroom looked better than a 7-11 restroom so that's a plus. *heres a tip: Don't speak Spanish to the cashier if you know English...Because she knows English. Keep exploring, the world is our playground! 1OO

Yelp
The good....I enjoyed my puerco de res plate. I enjoyed the aquas frescas. Limonada, Pina....good stuff. It is open 24 hours! Awesome! I enjoyed the spicy hot green and red salsas. Some of the combos are as cheap as 5.99. what a deal! The bad? This neighborhood sucks. Outside the place a toothless hooker asked me for a cigarette. Vomit was spattered all over the parking lot so watch where you step. The staff doesn't speak English. But I know enough Spanish to order my food and communicate well enough. There's a code for the bathroom. The music sucked. And the other patrons are noisy....whether they are drunk adults or screaming rugrat kids. Watch where you park too. The Mexican club next door has lots of drunks who will hit and run your car.

Thadd J.

Yelp
I love finding places like El Paisa. The people in the neighborhood have been coming to these places for years, then one day you decide to give it a try and wonder why you haven't been here before now. I have passed by El Paisa I don't know how many times over the years. There was always a ton of people in the parking lot during the lunch hour. After talking with a couple of co-workers who have eaten often I decided to give it a try. Why haven't I stopped here before!! Now I come by for lunch almost once a week. The prices are great and the food is excellent! The meats here are seasoned so well, it doesn't matter what you put them on it will be greatness. I've had a tortas, burritos, and, of course, tacos! The Pastor is my favorite, the flavor is definitely like it's from someone's mother's kitchen! The pork is so tender. The chicken is equally tender and juicy. And if you like beef, the Fajita are kick ass! The burritos are a foot long with plenty of meat and just enough beans and fillings, the meat is still king. It's a full meal by itself. And don't forget the salsa...please add some to your meal, it's adds another layer of full flavor. Yet another great taco place in Dallas! But it's got a lot more good eats besides tacos!

Ashleigh J.

Yelp
Love this place! It's not close to home but I can tell you I had the most amazing all pastor quesadilla with lettuce, tomatoes, and crema. The salsa verse was great but the red salsa was kind of boring. Food takes about 5 or so minutes so great timing. Would visit again!

Shy O.

Yelp
I always love coming here because the food is always on point. Very low price for a lot of "filling" food. If you want authentic Mexican I suggest this place. The only down side is no elotes but you can get elotes right across the street.

J G.

Yelp
Never had a bad taco here. I go here when I want something more on my street tacos besides the standard onion, cilantro, lime, radish and hot sauce. They have a small condiment bar to jazz things up a bit. It is small but I always go inside, even for take-out. Something about their backwards drive-thru freaks me out.

Victoria B.

Yelp
love this place!! so perfect for a late night, post club meal! great price, good vibe and food is delicious!!

LaToya M.

Yelp
I've been eating at Paisa for like 7 yrs and I don't recall ever having anything bad. I usually beef fajita tacos or burrito. Plus the salsa is really good. Breakfast taco u gotta add beans.

Punake O.

Yelp
Best nachos in the metroplex. Cheap. Tasty. The Dallas Harlequins rugby club used to practice near the location in Carrolton and we would grub at this place. Convenient drive thru makes it even better! Affordable, amazing, food!

Melisa A.

Yelp
Wish they had a bigger dinning-room. That's my only complaint. The food is so good. These guys know what they are doing. At lunch time it's hard to get in and out without rubbing elbows with other customers. The driver through is weird... compared to others. I had the nachos and they have me so full. I didn't want to stop eating them. Everything else I seen coming from the kitchen looked amazing. They offer several different salsas. In my Togo bag they had utensils and napkins... I'm glad for that, most places now skimp on them. Over all great place, perfect prices and delicious food . I'll be back. Soon!

Juan G.

Yelp
This place is ok. Thought it would be better but I was sort of let down. Ordered the carne asada burrito and it was good but not great. The lady told me what it had and when she said tomato I thought it would be diced or something....I was wrong. It had huge chunks of tomato slices that I had to take out because it was all I was biting into. The beans that came with my meal were pretty good but the rice was a bit bland and not much flavor.

Michael C.

Yelp
Get the barbacoa tacos. You won't be sorry. They have a drive through and limited seating to eat in. Salsas and onion and cilantro bar to fix up your own. Place gets busy for lunch.

T C.

Yelp
Authentic, tasty, fast, and has a great menu. Got there around 11:45am and barely beat the rush. Got some kind of sampler platter, believe it was a #5, and the beans were the best part.

Heather M.

Yelp
I think I'm in love. This hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant is pretty much fantastic. For two people you can eat for under $20. Can't beat that in Dallas. The quesadilla meal comes with vegetables inside it. If you're looking for a quesadilla which is pretty much just cheese and chicken, you have to be specific about what exactly you want to. However, if you're looking for a quesadilla sized taco, then you're doing good. Also, I'm not typically a fan of rice with my meal, but their race is the exception. I think this restaurants Bryce might be my favorite restaurant rice to date. Order exactly what you want even if that means you have to modify the menu order. They are pretty accommodating. You have to bust your own table, but what is lacking in terms of service is made up in the price. Come here. It's authentic. It's cheap. And it's tasty.

Melissa M.

Yelp
Not bad, but not as good as El Tacaso on Harry Hines or some street tacos I've had in San Antonio. My S.O. and I have ordered delivery here a couple times and they are always pretty prompt. I like the beef barbacoa tacos the best. They are flavorful, but I feel like there is still some kind of spices missing. I like them with sour cream, onions, cilantro, and lettuce. My S.O. orders the carnitas tacos sometimes, but I thought those were pretty bland (maybe add some adobo flavor in them). This place though is super cheap. I can feed myself for under $5. The guacamole here taste pretty fresh and we usually get an order of that. The chips seem out of bag though, so can't really recommend them. The churros here are also pretty decent. On another note, don't forget the salsa. I prefer the green salsa over the red salsa. They are both pretty spicy, so tread lightly.

Ana M.

Yelp
Been to this place a couple times. Chicken nachos are bomb. Chicken tacos are bomb. But this time, this TIME, I found a used up piece of napkin in my nachos. Mind you, I was eating this at night in the dark so I just scooped up a piece of what I thought was my chicken nachos and lol and behold I was chewing on a used up piece of napkin!!!!!!! Uggggghhhhhhhhhh. Disgusting. Wtf. Pay attention.

Sean W.

Yelp
Love this place! Limited seating and no public bathroom but still my favorite authentic taco place hands down. The nachos are killer!

Linda D.

Yelp
The area of location may look a little shady but the food is truly authentic and well priced. We typically order the chicken nachos and the chips are made in house which make them nice and crispy. I'm not too pleased with the beef tacos because there seem to be more fat than meat. The chicken tacos are really good and have a great seasoning into it.

Nichelle L.

Yelp
I was in the neighborhood and Yelped which tacos rated high. I was short on time & fiending for GOOD Chicharron tacos amongst the several options on Harry Hines. El Paisa's reviews weren't current but still solid 4s over the last 2 years - okay, here goes the facts! Three tacos on corn tortillas... 2 Chicharron: large pieces of seasoned pork, slightly seared (not slimy/greasy like a few other places) and delicious 1 Fajita: great flavor, especially the char And I had to try one more! Barbacoa: simmered perfectly, good favor The cilantro, onions, peppers, and sauces were fresh with various levels of heat (I love xxx spicy) For under $10 I had a good meal (melon drink included)

David L.

Yelp
I was shocked by how good everything was. Confusing drive through at Harry Hines location, but the chicken flats are phenomenal. Love the enchiladas too. Worth taking a chance on!

Tyronda B.

Yelp
I love this place, anytime I'm on this side of town, I make sure to stop by. The tacos are wonderful and they are nice as well.

Claire T.

Yelp
It was my turn to pick up lunch last week and I finally got to visit El Paisa in person. It's relatively small, maybe one step up from a shack. However, the building is super cute! And it has a drive thru... sweet! The lady at the counter was very friendly and was able to produce all five of our orders perfectly! It was fairly packed, but they definitely have a good system going because the orders didn't take long. This time I ordered chicken tacos and topped them with lettuce, onion, cilantro, salsa verde, and lime juice. Holy crap they were good. I also noticed that they have quite a few other menu items, including breakfast. They are also open til 3 or 4am on Friday and Saturday nights. Not that you would be hanging around Harry Hines on the weekend or anything.

Daisy G.

Yelp
Prices are low but portions are small too. Ordered a sopes plate, fajita meat and al pastor had good flavor. Rice and beans were bland. Ordered a barbacoa taco a la carte and it was really good, it was barbacoa enchilada, seemed more like a birria style, really good flavor. Place is small but food is worth it. Would go again and order a la carte, skip the rice and beans!!

Kevin P.

Yelp
As far as Mexican fast food goes, in our neighborhood, El Paisa is pretty decent. The seating area is small, with ten people it will feel packed. The menu is diverse, and the combos are filling. The price is right, as two people can eat for less than $20 including soft drinks. That's hard to beat in Dallas. If I'm in the mood for street tacos, this might not be my first choice, but for quick, low cost, and filling Mexican, El Paisa is hard to beat.

Reena G.

Yelp
This is the place to go for some yummy authentic tacos. The tacos are real cheap compared to other places that charge $4/taco. My favorite here is the Al Pastor. Oh this taco is so good. The pork is seasoned perfect and moist. The Barbacoa tacos are really good as well. The corn tortillas here are really good. They have a condiment section in where it contains salsa, onions, cilantro, and other stuff to put on your tacos. This location is really tiny and there is very little seating. It was packed at 11 pm and finding a spot to park was hard.

Brent A.

Yelp
Still haven't found good authentic nachos. The ones I get back in Los Angeles where it has tortilla chips, delicious carne asada, shredded cheese, guacamole and sour cream. This place was ehhhh ok. Half the carne asada was very fatty, fake nacho cheese and the retried beans was very oily. The carnitas taco in corn tortilla was okay as well. They gave me blocks of carnitas instead of it being shredded. Was hard to eat and I had to shred it myself. Still in the look out for good nachos here in Dallas!

Jimmy Joe M.

Yelp
Great restaurant best breakfast hands down recommend to everyone if you are looking for good authentic Mexican food

Cimi W.

Yelp
Whenever I'm craving goood tacos/ Mexican food....I go here. I have taken my sister here, who lives in New York....and she ALWAYS jocks me to take here here when in Texas. So when you walk in...there's a strange smell, that is not too delectable, but the food......is realllly yummy. The lengua tacos..the pastor..everything I've eaten here has been flavorful and YUMMY. Their nachos are also super delicioso (barbacoa nachos...YUM!). Give this place a chance, and you'll see what I mean. They also have a small condiment bar that's stocked with cilantro/onions, cabbage, pico de gallo, lime, red/green salsa. When I shop @ Harry Hines...I end my day HERE (if craving tacos/nachos/sopes/tortas/etc.).

Lily T.

Yelp
I've been trying to find a place for street tacos! And in so happy this restaurant was recommended to me. I was on this side of town at a club and wanted some tacos! To find out this place was near by, I recently discovered my first one off Forest Lane. Parking was a hassle, but so happy they were open late! It was around 1:30 am or so. Let me just say their nachos have homemade chips! It's so delicious, not greasy at all. I also ordered some tacos. I've tried barbacoa, carnitas, Bistec, and beef which are my favorite! And the tacos are cheap! I can eat three and I'm full! Also, their horchata is amazing! This is my new go to for tacos! Wish there was more near by! I will me back to try more! Their Tortas are great as well!

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Great place for authentic tacos! So I must say, I would have never found this place on my own without the guidance of some adventurous coworkers. The interior is very small, however we didn't have any trouble getting a table. Once we placed our orders at the front counter, I stopped by the condiments table to fill up some containers with extra onion, fresh cilantro and salsas. Our food was prepared quickly, and came out just as ordered. I tried the al pastor, chicken fajita, and barbacoa tacos all on corn tortillas. Let me just say, the corn tortillas were AWESOME. I probably could have made a meal just out of tortillas. All the tacos were good, but the pastor and barbacoa were my favorite. Will definitely be back!
