What keeps people coming back to Palacio is definitely the food, not the service. I always take my food to go since I live nearby. The parking lot is small for how crowded the location always is so I personally prefer to walk there. Every time I've gone, which is at least once every two weeks, the location has been busy. What I love about this place is that there is something for everyone. Whether you're in the mood for seafood, poultry or meat, you can find something. You want something light, there are different salads, veggie sides and fresh fruit and fresh fruit juices. You want a heavy meal? They can provide that for you. Looking for a quick bite to hold you off until you get home and cook for the kids, stop by for a croqueta or an empanada.
What I Recommend:
MIAMI SANDWICH: If you're in the mood for a sandwich, this is the one you should pick. It's massive and has all the essentials elements for a great sandwich. Stacks of deli meat, on toasted cuban bread with melted cheese, topped with lettuce, tomato and shoestring potato chips and strips of bacon. My boyfriend and I always split this sandwich and we end up stuffed.
Macaroni Salad: I hated this as a kid because of the pickle and pineapple chunks. What I love about the way they make it is that they don't add too much pineapple or pickle pieces and making them easy to spot and take out. I know it sounds like a weird combination but believe me, it's great. Ideal for a hot day (which is every day here in South Florida) at the park or a barbecue.
Empanada de Pollo: I'm not sure what sorcery they use to make these but they are delicious! They're my absolute favorite.
Croquetas de Jamon: Big and flavorful, try them on their own or in a croqueta preparada sandwich.
A Completa: Try something new and mix and match to your heart's desire. Prepare yourself to eat a copious amount of food or share it with a friend or two.
Breakfast: Cafe con leche, two eggs anyway you want them, ham, bacon, seasoned fries and toasted buttered cuban bread for under $5. If you want to splurge, you can upgrade your cafe con leche for a cup of one of their natural juices for about $1 more.
Juices: They sell the juices by the cup and by the half gallon. I personally love picking up a few whenever I host a brunch at home to make some funky mimosas. Mango, guava and pineapple are a couple of my favorites.
Palacio de los jugos is the kind of place you go to when you are on a budget but want to eat well. Also the kind of place you go to when you want a massive sandwich and not pay an arm and a leg for it. It is also a great place to order meal bundles for dinner parties without breaking the bank.
