Tacos del Barrio and The Real Boss are two new food truck options in Detroit | Eater Detroit

"A stalwart El Parian taco truck had been renting the lot on the car-wash property for some 14 years before the Muñozes purchased the site, illustrating the lot's long history as a reliable spot for mobile eateries in the neighborhood." - Serena Maria Daniels

I’m not sure who our server was — the receipt said “Tommy,” but whoever he was, he made our night memorable! We came to celebrate a birthday and drove over an hour, passing another El Parian in Lancaster just to come here. The moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly, seated right away, and our drink orders were taken promptly. Chips and salsa came out quickly, and to our delight, each of us got our own bowl — no sharing, no awkward double-dipping among guests. A small touch, but it made a big difference. We placed our orders, and the food came out surprisingly fast — except for mine. Our server noticed immediately and took care of it without me having to say a word. Though my dish arrived after everyone else had nearly finished, the issue was handled so well that it didn’t dampen the celebration at all. And then came the birthday surprise — wow! The celebration was over the top in the best way. Music, energy, smiles from the staff, and a complimentary dessert that made the birthday guest feel truly special. It wasn’t just about the food (though it was delicious) or the atmosphere (which was lively and fun). What made this visit unforgettable was the way the staff treated us — like we were part of their own family. It turned an ordinary dinner into a memory we’ll talk about for a long time.

1st time here, not too bad but left some things to be desired. The Guacamole was fantastic, as good as any we've ever had. For dinner we split a Monster Burrito, the flavor was dominated by the bacon in it. Unfortunately it made it mostly inedible. Someone else in our party ordered something with steak in it and had it arrive to the table so late that everyone else was mostly done with their meal. Finished up very strong, for dessert we had the Tres Leches cake and again it was phenomenal. So in summary, a mixed review, we don't live local so I'm not sure if or when we will return. If I did live local I would probably be willing to try again at some point.

I've lived in several regions across the US and have had some amazing food. El Parian is some of the best I've had in Ohio. The food, service and everything has always been good. My family tries to order different items for something new, yes they have their favorites, but they are always happy with their choices. If I had one suggestion, it would be to have them offer Cholula and Valentina, (each compliment different dishes).

Great experience! Especially, if Valentina is your server! She never misses a beat with making sure you have everything! She's on her game and will not let you have a watered down drink. No need to even ask! Very sweet and polite young lady!

Went here for a late evening margarita and nachos. The good: Extremely fast, food, drinks, check. Everything was fast. The chicken on the nachos was pretty tasty. The melty cheese was also quite good. The "hot" salsa by special request was amazing. Regular margaritas were good. Side note: We ordered a medium and a large...apparently they are the same size??? The bad: Nachos only come with chips, cheese and whatever meat you order. No peppers, no tomatoes, no beans, nothing. Salsa is pretty meh. Needs doctoring to be tasty. It is NOISY with all the happy birthday singing and whistling. The really bad: The pushing to get you out of the restaurant. Everything was super rushed. Maybe it was our waitress. Maybe it's the design of from management. It did not lend itself to a nice evening drink and a snackl

What happened to this place?!?! It's gone downhill! I wrote a review 7 years ago because it used to be great... not now! I arrived at 1:30 for lunch, was given a dinner menu. Had to ask for a lunch menu. They brought out the chips and salsa... the chips were not like they used to be... they were the stale cheap tasting store version, totally nasty! I really like chips and beans! Ordered a Mini Fajita Quesadilla (which was very good) with beans, they served me rice. They brought me beans (which were very runny) on the side and charged me for them... grrr. It was there fault for giving me rice! Doubt I will go back.

A total fiesta in your mouth. I took a bite and it was like being back in Mexico…Salmon Frambuesa was on-point, scrummy, and whimsical…or whatever word your favorite cooking show overuses when they want to say delicious. Highly recommended…or recommend….(I’ve heard it both ways)…just go enjoy the closest you’ll get to Mexico while in Ohio.
