"The chill Magazine Street taco house doesn’t take short cuts. All of the margaritas are made with fresh squeezed juice, as nature intended. On tap at the bar, Del Fuego’s margaritas are beyond potent. Slurp outside overlooking the streetscape or in the cozy back patio." - Beth D'Addono, Clair Lorell, Eater Staff

Google
AWESOME! Definitely worthy of encore. Clean restrooms. Great flow to the interior. Thx El Paso. Great hustle!

Google
Super cute place. I love the art and the vibe. The staff was very friendly and the food was yummy. The nachos were pretty basic, but the meat had good flavor. The molcajete was delicious! But was expensive compared to other places. I love their 2 for 1 special on margaritas (frozen or on the rocks). Definitely worth a visit.

Tammy Harris

Google
Take out is a mess. The kids quesadilla comes in a pie tin with refried beans and rice which gets all over it making it soggy and the amount of chips you get for a large queso could fit in a sandwich bag. Also the shell for the taco salad was soggy and not at all crunchy. Very disappointing meal.

Google
Everything here is exceptional. I was about to go to another restaurant next door but could smell the aroma of goods in the street. I am always in the mood for Mexican and Margaritas though. I sat at the bar and was welcome as soon as I walked in. I could not stop staring at the colorful decor. From the framed large artworks to the Mecican Senorita chairs. I love this place. The bartender customized my Moscow Mule with tequila and pineapple juice like I asked, delicious. When I got the chips and salsa and Molly that they just give out freely, I was very impressed and satisfied period the Mole is the best that I ever had! Hands down. The salsa was so savory and fresh and the chips are made there and so damn good I could have been satisfied by just eating that alone. I should have gotten some Mole to go. Got the Mexican Floutas and Chile Relleno, excellent is flavor and texture. I have been craving the food here since Thursday. 😩 Will bring friends here soon.

Went here with a group of friends and had a great time. Had the birria tacos and they were delicious.

Google
Great customer service! Tasty drinks! Out of this world burrito..it was so cheesy and stuffed with food. The waiter was attentive and ensured that we had what we needed. The rain caught us outside but we were able to move inside for the remainder of the time! Check them out!

Richard Williams

Google
Heard they had new management and had dinner tonight. Chips and salsa were great and enchiladas supreme were outstanding. Definitely going back soon !

Jonathan Sahand Sabetghadam

Google
Fast, friendly service. Authentic Mexican food. Very clean restaurant. Expected the lunch portions to be small, but no, very hearty. The “Speedy Gonzáles” was amazing! My first time trying Chile Relleno, so good!

Felix P.

Yelp
First...it's New Orleans Louisiana!!!...not south of the border. If you can't appreciate that upon walking in, perhaps you need to rethink your choices! If you post a bad review a Mexican food restaurant because you don't agree with the way they make their margaritas, you may need a rationality check! Great service, these people care about the way the food is prepared. Recipes are very New Mexican. Everything we tried was wonderful. Great tequila selection...which is rare in New Orleans!

J S.

Yelp
Worst drinks ever!!! Who doesn't make their own sangria or margaritas How lazy can a place be No no no

Tiffany F.

Yelp
This is the place to go if you're looking for a good deal on margaritas! From 3 to 6 PM they have a two for one deal for frozen or on the rocks margaritas for $8! The food is well priced and flavorful, I got my son, the kids beef enchilada plate for $7 and it was a lot of food! The service is always great, the hostess and waiters are always nice. They have New Orleans wall art and TV screens if you'd like to watch a game or the news while you eat! They completely remodeled the place and it's super cute!

Lu P.

Yelp
Super tasty Mexican food! They serve you beans and salsa as starters. Nice variety of drinks and very friendly staff. If you're in NOLA around Garden District and feel like fresh food, you should totally check out this place!

Dena M.

Yelp
Carnitas taco was dry & tough. Service was underwhelming.. never saw waiter after he took the order. Will not visit again.

Desi S.

Yelp
Overall, the food was just ok. The chips and salsa & bean dip were mediocre. I ordered the enchiladas supreme, the cheese, chicken and beef were good but the bean salad enchilada was not good. I felt the beans weren't fresh. My husband ordered the fajitas trio, he enjoyed it. They had 2 for 9 small margarita specials

Jaime B.

Yelp
We popped in here early on a Tuesday only to find out they had 2-for-1 margs! We started with queso with chorizo and guacamole. The queso was delicious. The guac was just good. Highlight was our server was attentive so we always had plenty of chips! For dinner, we had a steak quesadilla, California burrito, pollo loco and a steak chimichanga. The pollo loco was great and super flavorful. The chimichanga was good but just pretty tiny. The quesadillas were your run of the mill but we're also pretty tiny (makes sense when you get two). On the other hand, the burrito was massive. Overall, the food was good and the 2-for-1 is definitely a draw. I'm sure we'll be back again!

Jordyn F.

Yelp
We (Party of 3) went here on a Tuesday around 5:30pm and they were not busy. They had no specials on Tuesday. Our waiter was not overly welcoming and did not come to check on us often. When we received our check there was already a 20% gratuity on the check. On the menu it says that a 20% gratuity was only added on party's of or greater. I had confronted the waiter about this and his response was that a 20% Gratuity was added on all tables on Tuesday. That was not made clear anywhere. Will not be coming back.

Aimee P.

Yelp
I came from los angeles and this is one of the best spots in nola! I got fajitas and drinks and it was amazing! the service was exceptional and the place is so clean. I love this place and I want to come back anytime!!!!!

Rachel H.

Yelp
water is the best thing on the menu. 0 stars if possible. terrible service and food. house margs taste like thick syrup. way over priced. apparently tostadas and chalupas are the same thing. Server constantly made mistakes. This would've been ok if she was apologetic or even just fixed the mistakes, but she insisted on lying and blaming her mistakes on us. She also wanted to charge us to fix her mistakes. Please just avoid this place if you can.

Jaci G.

Yelp
This is as one of the best El Paso's I've ever been to. Possibly the best Mexican restaurant I've even been to. The inside is cute and decorated. Our server was amazing and helpful. We also got 2 for 1 margarita mango and they were a little sweet but I honestly love sweeter cocktails. The food was absolutely amazing, we got the special for $13 steak fajita and barbecue chicken quesadilla. Everything was so fresh and it was a pretty large portion of steak. Food came out really quick in like 10 minutes. Overall I would absolutely recommend you visit despite the other reviews. Maybe it's under new management or they're just doing better in every way possible. Try it for yourself !!!

Anna C.

Yelp
The food was terrible--served us like a pile of slop! Our server is another story. He didn't come to our table but 1 time to take drinks and food order. That was it! I wanted to complain about the food and service but felt it wouldn't do any good. Place was empty too probably the sign we should have turned around and left. Save your yourself and go elsewhere as there are 5 other Mexican restaurants around the 2 block radius.

Kelsey J.

Yelp
Classic Mexican restaurant with the basics. The tables are kind of tight and you're basically sitting on top of the table next to you but the food was good. Served kind of lukewarm and not hot hot but was very fast if you're looking for a quick bite.

Don T.

Yelp
We ran into this restaurant for a quick meal. The server came over to our table immediately. We ordered 2 for 1 margaritas and he brought those over very quickly. He also brought chips and salsa very quickly. I ordered the shrimp burrito and my husband ordered the steak burrito. We also ordered sides of rice and beans. Everything was very flavorful. It could have been spicier for our taste. We did order some chopped jalapeno's to sprinkle on top. This is a chain restaurant it seems, but the food was quite good.

clare m.

Yelp
I personally would not recommend coming to this establishment. A friend and I came here for lunch and had a bad experience. I ordered the Ceasar salad, the salad came as plain romaine lettuce with croutons and a side cup of dressing (which was not very good). The salad also came out on a plate. My friend ordered the chicken enchiladas and chicken quesadillas. The chicken in her meal was very tough and not easy to eat. The chicken was very dry. The flavor was also not enjoyable. We ordered pico de gallo as a side for our chips. The pico costed $2 and was not good. Even my Shirley temple was not good. The smell in the restaurant was awful. When we were having debit card issues, our waitress was very rude and impatient. The service was bad and the food was worse. The ambiance was awful as well. I will not come here again and I would never recommend it.

Jono B.

Yelp
I enjoyed this place. The service was great. The food came out really fast. Each table was filled inside but I guess we're in phase 3 now so that isn't a requirement to limit indoor attendance. They did wipe every table with Lysol after the party was done eating. I had the supreme steak burrito and it was reallllly good. I enjoyed this place a lot.

Lauren A.

Yelp
The food is mediocre at best. The Maguerite's are horrible. Service and neighborliness are the worst.

Kevin R.

Yelp
Great time Saturday afternoon taking the families. The girls love the queso! We had to get two orders. Apparently it does with everything. I love their salsa!

Tomas R.

Yelp
I kept bouncing between a 4 and 5 star but tbh, I always end up leaving feeling hella good because their HH special gets me every time. Buy 1 Get 1 Free margaritas, and they can be to-go. #WINNING Grab their frozen mango margarita and y'all will be in for a treat. Future you might be upset about the lack of productivity but it's worth it. They practice social disntancing and best practices during COVID-19, including masks, disposable utensil wear, spacing of tables, and to-go cups for water. I love their chips and salsa, but the main headliner is their ADDICTING black bean dip. Snag an order (or three) of their quesadillas and you're in for a treat. Great... now my body is demanding more margaritas.

William L.

Yelp
This was the most outstanding and memorable restaurant meal of my entire half-century of existence. Not because of particularly excellent food, drinks or service--though all were good to very good--but because it was the first restaurant meal after staying in for three months. Quite the feeling to sit on a sidewalk bench and have food magically appear in front of us again. Our Mexican plates were good, absolutely traditional Tex-Mex with lots of cheese and sauce. Good salsa and chips, and extra points for the warm chips. The large margaritas came in those comically large goblets that are now so popular (or were). This wasn't top-shelf level but it was supremely satisfying none the less. If you are looking for satisfying standard Mex that you would expect in any major city, this is your place. COVID19 NOTES: We were seated on sidewalk picnic tables that afforded six foot distances from other patrons. Folks passing by on the sidewalk came closer than six feet momentarily, but nearly everyone on Magazine Street that day was abiding by mask guidelines. The wait staff was uniformly masked and gloved. After we had been eating awhile, I noticed a cigarette butt left on the edge of our table by the wall. Our server deftly picked it up, then peeled off his blue glove in one graceful move and captured the offending butt in the glove. I suspect he did that on the spot so we'd see it and be assured he wasn't keeping that glove on after handling a nasty butt. I was so impressed with that deft maneuver I wondered weather he had a second job as a surgeon. (Who, it's worth mentioning, wear masks to protect the patient, not themselves).

Rachel H.

Yelp
Awesome new Mexican restaurant on Magazine St! The food was delicious, the service was fast, and the food was well priced. This restaurant was very authentic. They have special deals including Happy hour daily from 2:00pm-7:00pm and lunch specials daily from 11:00am-3:00pm. They brought out free chips, salsa, and bean dip to start. What we ordered: -2 for 1 Margaritas for $8.99! -burrito supreme: we got this with shredded chicken and it was a great amount of food for the price and was really delicious -Shrimp tacos: this came with three tacos and choice of side. The tacos had a lot of shrimp in them and were really great -Queso: the queso was really tasty and a large portion Overall great experience. We sat outside and they brought our pup water which is always a big plus for me! They were also wearing masks and gloves and seemed to be taking COVID-19 precautions.

Yelp
El Paso is a decent option for Mexican near the Garden District. We stopped in for a couple of their very stiff frozen margaritas on a recent Sunday afternoon. We paired the drinks with chips, salsa, queso, and guacamole, all of which were good, if not looking a little salt. Since I was feeling hungry, I ordered a side of frijoles and chile relleno. The relleno was decent, a little soggy but covered in a delicious sauce. The frijoles, served piping hot, were better and were well-seasoned and satisfying. I really enjoyed the people watching from their sidewalk table, as this spot is located in a great section of Magazine street. Although I wasn't blown away, El Paso is a good spot to get your margarita fix in an area with not a lot of other Tex-Mex options.

Tyra R.

Yelp
Service is always great here and the food and drinks are affordable. I ordered the Caramarones a la brochetes, which is jumbo shrimp with cheese wrapped in bacon on a skewer with grilled peppers; it comes with tortilla soups and a avocado salad. I order a champagne margarita for my cocktail. It was enough food for 2 people.

Isaac V.

Yelp
Food was above average, but service was awful. Had to ask for my card back after 10 minutes because she hadn't ran it yet. Never got chips when asked, no water refills, etc. Restaurant was also not that busy and was staffed decently well.

Brittany S.

Yelp
Happy to have stopped by here for lunch. Delicious!! Friendly service, extremely clean restaurant and fun decor. Will definitely be returning. Steak fajitas were so yummy!!

Rayshawn R.

Yelp
Went there on Thursday evening for the first time... take out order. The staff was great .. there was a gentleman doming the food he was exceptional. Made sure my food was correct and ready to go. I ordered the combination plate yummy LOL I also got a margarita frozen sooooo good will definitely be back

Courtney K.

Yelp
Ordered Uber Eats and was so pleased! Ordered a large queso, bean dip, and veggie fajitas. I am pretty picky about queso and I LOVE this style. It's thick, not funny, and lighter in color, and it reheats well. The veggie fajitas were so flavorful and with a great variety of veggies, even more than described on the menu. The bean dip had strange packaging but was yummy! The restaurant's outside seating looks so cute, I want to stop by soon. No pictures as I was too hungry to remember! My only suggestion would be to include more than 3 taco sized tortillas with the fajitas. Will definitely order again!

Katie V.

Yelp
Great margaritas and great fajitas! The shrimp was particularly tasty, along with the queso. A definite must try when craving good Tex-Mex!

DeAnn D.

Yelp
Love Tex Mex and this place does not disappoint. I literally come here once a week and desire a table with a personal nameplate one day. If you love Tex Mex this is your place.

Matthew B.

Yelp
This is the Tex-Mex place you're looking for when you want the food that you remember from childhood. Portions are big, and they don't skimp on the queso, which all of my favorite dishes are swimming in. I suppose they have to charge what they do being on Magazine, but I would like it if each dish was a buck or two cheaper. My fave dish is the Enchiladas al Carbon. Really anything with steak as the meat is a can't miss. Also that bean dip that comes with the chips...I could just eat that all day.

Jiwon H.

Yelp
Their fajita is great - I am not going to lie. Their complimentary chips and salsa are great as well - I am not going to lie. But their Margarita game is unfortunately not up to par in my opinion. If you would like a 2-1 very no frill and generic margarita happy hour deal, this place might be your place but if you are so used to getting that perfectly icy frozen factory made margarita, you will not find that here. I even ordered top shelf just to see if it was better than the 2-1 deal but no... super watery. I would give 3.5 if I coudl

Eve B.

Yelp
Great service, amazing street tacos, all the fixings, and great location right along magazine st. Outdoor covered seating to watch the rain and world go by. Five stars, we love El Paso!!!!!

Mae M.

Yelp
Because The Rum House is the more preferred spot for adults without children, I decided to try out this place since it wasn't packed because I had my infant with me. The waiter was more than generous & very helpful & patient while it took us forever to decide on what we wanted to eat due to lots of conversation going on at the table. Will definitely revisit again to try out other menu options. I ordered the one beef enchilada & guacamole tostada (came with a side of beans & rice) did not disappoint. Very good.

Tamsy K.

Yelp
This was the first time at the Magazine location. The service was very quick and the food was soooo tasty. We had 2 shrimp quesdilla that was so filling that I couldn't finish my good. We got the 2 for 1 small Margaritas for $8.99 and omg they were great. To say they were a small it was a pretty big size. Definitely going there again

Denise S.

Yelp
Finally found a different texmex restaurant in NO. Forced to venture out because everything was closed by our hotel in the FQ. Went during the second or third extension of phase 2. Masks not optional unless seated at a table. Really good guacamole and chips. Quesadillas were good. We had beef chicken and shrimp. Cheap tasty margaritas at happy hour. Nice staff. Good Reggaeton music could have been louder :). It's not a five star restaurant obviously. But the food and service were good and prices reasonable. STREET parking.

Suzy S.

Yelp
We picked up some food from mag st location- it was fabulous! We got 2 orders of the tacos with rice and beans. I'm not a big lover of all Mexican and husband's caretaker said "Never" to Mexican- but I ordered it anyway- - She took a small bite to satisfy me and ate the whole plate full! I had planned on taking pic but it would have been an empty plate! Only other thing I got was small guacamole ( excellent!)!.. I'll be repeat customer!

Lucy G.

Yelp
Don't let the exterior fool you. Fantastic food and excellent margaritas. Come for the food!

Fred G.

Yelp
Excellent Mexican food. Friendly staff, large portions and literally right around the corner from our sons house. Yes we will be ordering from here often. We ordered the veggie fajita and there was plenty for my wife and I to split.

Rachel T.

Yelp
In a city known for food, well maybe not traditionally Mexican food, this place delivered. We have the rainbow of food allergies/ preferences and everyone found plenty of amazing food. Kids menu, pescatarian, vegan, and cheese and chips only. The guac was fresh and awesome, we got refried black beans with our chips. And I can not say enough about the rice... it was great. I even snagged the perfect Cuba Libre. The service was great, everything came out quickly and hot. 10/10

Haley P.

Yelp
Never had food, but the margaritas are only worth the 2 for 1 special. Not amazing, but good for $5.

C R.

Yelp
So finding GOOD Mexican food in NOLA has been quite a challenge for this California girl. I especially like Carnitas and they need to be done right, crispy yet tender and spiced well. El Paso Mexican Grill has GREAT Carnitas! And the side of pinto beans was as good as my auntie's in Texas. Delicious, well spiced and not too salty! All the greens were freshly chopped, not from bags, bagged lettuce is full of sulfites and I'm allergic so I have learned what to taste for. Prices are good, portions are large and I can now say I finally have a goto Mexican place here in my favorite city. Next time I want to try the Tortilla Soup and the Enchiladas!

Cheyenne S.

Yelp
The corn carnitas tacos was everything I expected and more! I'm glad me and my friend went here. 2 for 1 margaritas on a Tuesday, yesss!!! I thought they was gonna be worse than what I had but everything was very good. Tasted like good authentic mexican food. I will be returning..probably tomorrow ! The queso was good as well! Y'all won't be disappointed frfr!! Not too many ppl know about the one on Magazine St soo please go !!

Ella J.

Yelp
Best margs ever! The food was amazing but the margaritas were even better. Our service was wonderful and attentive. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Roxy L.

Yelp
Thursday night 7 pm, staff acts and looks like they are forced labor. The food was quick and hot but that was the high point. The food was not tasty and was a little better than a microwave dinner. Just avoid and pray they wake up!

Virginia A.

Yelp
Everything about this place is great. The first time I went I walked in trying to grab some drinks with friends later in the night and asked them "How late are you all open until," and they told me 11. I looked at my phone to see the time and it literally flipped to 11 o'clock at that second. Instead of closing, the manager invited us to stay open later so we could enjoy ourselves. That same night I ended up losing my wallet and went back the next morning to look. They said they had not seen it. When I thought all hope was lost, a few days later one of their waitresses came and delivered it to my parents house and was so kind to not even accept a reward! I went back with my boyfriend a few days later to have dinner and say thank you. They serve you chips and salsa right when you sit down and we got the queso too, which was perfect and what you'd want from a Mexican restaurant. Then we got the fajitas and both got tacos to try. I tried the steak street tacos, and they were exactly what I wanted - corn tortilla, delicious steak, onions and cilantro. They also gave me some house salsa when I asked for some, and it was really good. At the end of our meal we asked one of the waiters for a manager and explained how we wanted to say thank you for whoever found my wallet. The manager then came up as well as the waitress that found it, and we all had a fun quick convo. They are really great people and the food it great. The atmosphere is fun too. We are so happy to have them in the neighborhood and will be regulars.

Tom S.

Yelp
Went on a road trip and didn't know where to eat. We stumbled onto El Paso Mexican Grill. The service was excellent and we all enjoyed our meals. I'd recommend the barbecue chicken quesadilla. Next time in NOLA, I'll go back.

Keith C.

Yelp
Super-solid Mexican option either Uptown or Metairie. Won't blow your mind, but definitely gets the job done whether you're wanting quick drinks and apps or a more-substantial meal. Burrito Asada is probably my go-to dinner - packed with flavor and very affordable. Service is always attentive, but not overly annoying.

Dominique M.

Yelp
This place has great Mexican food. We just popped in during covid mind you and decided to get their tacos. They have both flour and corn tortillas. Great bean dip. Just an all around great real Mexican food. So if you are nearby definitely recommend stopping in.

Brendan B.

Yelp
Nothing to write home about. Food was basic and underwhelming. Drinks were weak. Our server was very pleasant though and definitely made it tolerable. Doesn't feel or look like a "Mexican grill" at all. Food just tasted like the kitchen staff lost their passion for the food. Shame.

Joaen S.

Yelp
Update: My 6 year old is still up with an upset stomach at 11:30 pm from this terrible food. I have never given a 1 star review in my life. We got an incomplete order with old greasy ground meat padded with potatoes that got my family sick. I know food inventory is hard on restaurants during Covid, but this went too far. I ordered through Uber Eats. Half of my order was missing, the ground meat is really greasy, and I wasn't expecting potatoes in my unidentifiable combo.
