Had an Amazing experience again at this location. The servers hands down are the best in town specially being led by the manager, highly recommend this place if you want good service tasty food and reasonable prices. They have happy hour, they have specials almost every day of the week and you cant go wrong with any specialty drink that you may want to try. Trust me everything in their updated menu is almost perfect. mist try their molcajete entree may need two people to enjoy but if your hungry i think its good enough for one person. Please go and try for yourself and be your own witness to the Amazing experience that is waiting for you.

Really good steak and shrimp

Grade B- (80) Generally the food was sub par. The ceviche was good, guacamole, Mare y mare & Queso fundido con chorizo were good. The Aguachile was ok, but the price for what you get is high. The rest like the tacos were too dry, fajitas were not that great, the frozen Margarita was too sweet. Know what you want from the beginning. Not too crazy about the food here.

G “Memskie” Gomez

Google
See pictures of the Fajitas ordered, When it was brought the first time, Shrimp was bland and under cooked, top sirloin had too much chewy Gristle. They offered to correct it and was brought food back but everything was overcooked, and vegetables burnt. Staff was pleasant and did try to make experience nice, Manager Eduardo is a nice friendly guy, they just need better cooks that actually care .

This is establishment is pretty popular on a Saturday night. Although my food tasted fine at that moment I got food poisoning somehow. Customer svc was wonderful, the ceviche tasted blend. My friends frequently come..and have a great time.. just wasn't my day I guess.

I have been going to this place since it opened up I would say a little over 20 years. It was always top notch quality food. These last few visits have been a disappointment. The quality has diminshed over the last few years. Their menu is also limited now. This place was a family favorite for many years but it has chnged. The pictures I've added look good but unfortunately it didn't taste as good as it looks. I still recommend and see for yourself so hopefully you have a better experience. Its not awful by any means but in my opinion it isn't as good as the good old days. The mecheladas are good though.

Google

Pretty good food. I've been to 3 others in this chain.

Yelp
I came here with my partner for lunch & some happy hour drinks! We first ordered a couple of spicy margaritas(wine based not liquor) but they were perfect for lunch. I ordered the pollo con rajas which was so delicious, and my partner ordered the breaded shrimp taco which was also really good! The portions are fair for the price! Our server was great and quick to check up on us all throughout our meal. They have a parking lot in the back where you can park for free or you can sometimes be lucky with street parking.

Yelp
Worst service ever. Everyone standing around. Talking. I got approached twice with the menu and with chips and I asked to put in my order I kept getting told I am at the waiter. Please hold on. I am not the waiter but yet everyone standing around talking and lollygagging worst service ever I want me back to this, establish by becoming it for years it seems like there conversations are important to help a paying customer. Note the restaurant was empty due to rain this day after lunch hour 1pm. REPLY TO MY WAIT TIME. Yes I did sit myself down as I am a frequent patrons at this restaurant, I don't need a menu to know what I order there was there with 3 other customers in the restaurant. Again. Your staff was to busy talking instead of doing their job. No worries. I won't come back.

Yelp
Service was amazing, just disappointed in my fried fish.It had no flavor and oily, which it was a little crispier. But other than that service was amazing and hubby loved the wet burritos.

Elizabeth P.

Yelp
This place is absolutely HORRIBLE!! The food is disgusting and expensive. I've gotten food poisoning twice. And the service is horrible! They gave themselves a 40 dollar tip even though we never got checked up on asked if we needed anything...

Geovanny R.

Yelp
Despues de esperar me informaron que no tienen menu y no me ofrecieron nada . El servicio definitivamante puede mejorar

L. W.

Yelp
Love it here! The ceviche and costa brava is always delishhhh! I've been coming here for ages. During the week they have a really solid happy hour that is one plate of one of their items with the soup (el presidential) seen here. The service is always excellent and they have great attitudes. They had sport playing on the background which I actually enjoy so if you wanna watch games, this is also a great location to do that!

David S.

Yelp
The service was horrible. Our waiter kept disappearing. We got our food before we got our utensils. Not to mention the carnitas plate my wife got was dry and bland. We will never go here again.

Nubia O.

Yelp
It was my first time at this El pescador location this past Saturday and I loved it! My bestie and her men (hubby and kid) brought me along with them for family dinner and I'm glad they did. When we got to the place we had to check in first and wait outside 'cause place was packed that there was no parking on the back so my bestie's hubby left us there and went to park their car. While waiting my bestie's kid noticed a lady outside making roses and hand ties with palm. He bought her some for and gave me one as a present. This lady was the sweetest! Also my bestie's kid is a gem and love to buy from street vendors. Now the Pescador ambiance was absolutely amazing. They had UFC fights on the TVs and all types of music on the speakers. My friends' kid got a carne asada burrito, my friend ordered the oysters and seafood tostada, her hubby ordered the carne asada tampiqueña and I had the salmon and shrimp plate. It came with two kind of shrimp one bacon wrapped and the other garlic flavored. So dang delicious! The rice and the beans that accompanied the dish were as tasty as the shrimps and salmon. The server brought us chips and salsa and was nice throughout our meal. There'a only 1 toilet inside ladies' restrooms so you had to wait to use it as I mentioned before the place was busy that day. Parking on the back but you have to enter restaurant in front. Also street and metered parking. I'll definitely be back.

Miguel M.

Yelp
The service was fast and the food was delicious i tray the ranchera plater is delicious chips and salsa little spicy but good / el pescador restaurante complementary salsa and chips big glass water and ice

Sandy L.

Yelp
We love coming to el pescador. And our favorite person is Mari. She's our go to gal. Everyone else is always also nice. But we are so use to her. Good food and drinks.

Dianna S.

Yelp
Very nice and delicious good ambience good music the trio needed more juice or something i tasted the liquor but also watered down or something but very good the mojarra also came with rice was just in a separate plate but very good everything

Yelp
It had been awhile since eating at El Pescador and feeling like having Mexican food decided to have dinner here. Upon entering the first thing I noticed was that there were several tables that were empty but had not been clean. While waiting to be seated, I noticed one of the employees working in the kitchen was working and eating while other employees were gathered together gossiping instead of attending customers or clearing tables. After waiting for approximately 10 minutes ( there was no one else waiting to be seated) we were escorted to a table where a friendly and pleasant waitress took our very simple order; two beers and two different plates. The beer bottles arrived, no beer mugs and the wrong beer. After a while our order was brought to our table and instead of the shrimp taco that was ordered a fish taco arrived (close enough, I supposed). As I ate my food I couldn't help noticing that the waitresses had a table were they would stop and take a bite between customers. I won't be going back to this place!

Yelp
I will say that this little spot was okay, prior times that I have gone it was not up to standard. This past meal did not hit the spot like it typically does. I ordered the ceviche because I wa not hungry. It was okay, the prices went up when it comes to the additionals. I asked for more tostadas for my ceviche they charged me $1 for just one tostada. Which I thought was crazy, I would get it is it was 2 for $1 or even 4 for $1 but that is wishful thinking. The Horchata was good. It had a little bit too much cinnamon for my liking but once the ice begins to melt it taste less sweet which is always good. My boyfriend ordered the fajitas platter was not the best. The amount of steak and chicken you receive was significantly less than the amount of veggies that comes on the platter. The chicken was extremely dry and the meat was pounded flatter than a pancake. I will just say it could've been better entree wise, dessert the tres leches is made in house and always a pleaser. The service was excellent it if just pricing and entrees that fell a little flat the past few times my boyfriend and I have gone to El Pescador.

Juanita M.

Yelp
Food was bland. Huevos ranchero's tortilla was mushy, the sauce had no flavor. The fajitas meats had no type of seasoning and were flavorless. I use to enjoy this place, but not anymore.

Monica V.

Yelp
Good quality food, aguachiles are my go to. Spicy and good sized shrimp. Tvs set up for game watching and good service.

Natalie E.

Yelp
This restaurant does not live up to their crowd of customers. I ordered oysters that were supposed to come with shrimp but only had pieces of fish. And the oysters were not fresh or tasty. Along with that I got fried shrimp that was okay. There are a lot better restaurants than this place, now I know not to return here. It was dirty from the tables, floor, and bathroom. Service sucked our waitress never came to check on us and even took long to bring our check that we got up to pay for it in the front. It's a small location even that bathroom is small you can't fully open the door without almost hitting someone. It feels old and dirty inside and the food is okay at best. 1/5 stars

Vicky U.

Yelp
Delicious! Came here last month and this place is very very delicious big portions and very tasty food. Everyone is really nice and the drinks are the best! The big margaritas are worth the hype

Ricky Q.

Yelp
Got there at 10:22 pm on a Friday night- the restaurant still had customers but when we tried to open the door it was locked. When the employee noticed that we tried to open the door, she turned the open sign off without even acknowledging us. Keep in mind that they are supposed to close at 11. She walked back and laughed with her coworkers- spend your money at viva taco azteca instead, thats what I ended up doing.

Jimmy T.

Yelp
I've been going to el pescador for decades and it slaps. I came on a Friday with my parents and waited for 45 minutes before getting seated. A lot of big groups coming here on the weekends. Costa Brava soup was super rich and delicious. (8/10) could be spicier thought. Spicy wet burrito de asada was really good and only $10. (9/10). It was actually a massive sized burrito. You could practically ride the thing through town! It's huge and ive never had to go family style on a burrito but this is your chance to do that. Just divide and share. It was just the right amount of spicy and had a lot of asada. It would be 10/10 if they had extra onions/cilantro to add on. A good place to come. It feels like a Mexican BJs or Chilis. 10/10 would recommend. Best to come during the week because it gets busy. The $8 consome is a must!

Yelp
. . O VAYAN A ESTE SITIO NO SIRBE SU COMIDA, ES PESIMA Y LOS PRECIOS MUY ALTOS

Rico S.

Yelp
We ordered carne asada enchiladas, with red sauce, rice and beans and my friend had shrimp tacos and rice a beans as well, food were obviously low quality. They were not fresh at all. My food came out cold to the point I as to reheat it. And my friend took some of her food home and we both ended up with food poisoning. 10/10 would not recommend.

Cinthya M.

Yelp
Queso fundido was clearly microwaved, two of the four plates ordered were terrible. Service was not close to being good. Staff were nice. Asked for the check and waited 15 min.

Cindy K.

Yelp
Horrible HORRIBLE customer service. We were a big party and we went with my two nieces and we were trying to treat my aunt to a nice dinner. It was a cold and rainy day so obviously we wanted to be inside. However, there was limited space to sit or stand inside so we tried our best to stay out of the way. There was this young male host who at first asked us nicely to not block the entry way, which we were not doing, but he insisted we keep to the side, so we did. Then when we moved further inside, he became irritated and asked us to wait outside IN THE RAIN with my two baby nieces. We ended up leaving and asked them to remove us from the wait list. Not 10 minutes later, they called us and asked us if we had left because they were ready to sit us. NEVER coming back here again, all because of a young inexperienced host.

Robert N.

Yelp
Located right on Figueroa in Highland Park, this restaurant serves up quality food in substantial portions for a reasonable price. I went mid-week when it was a bit slower (I've seen a line waiting outside when I drive by most weekends) and the service is prompt and extremely pleasant. It's got a more casual dining feel, with football on the tvs in the background. This reminds me of the 90s family style restaurants I used to go to as a kid with my parents, and that's not a criticism but rather a compliment as it's a nice change from most restaurants with chefs that are out to prove themselves by providing an "elevated" experience but still leaving you hungry with small portions after dropping $150 for two people. The food here is solid, substantial, and you go home with leftovers unless you brought your appetite. The menu is fairly extensive allowing for a fair amount of choices for whatever you're hungry for. The guacamole is chunky and super fresh. Ordered the combination plate that had a chicken taco and a great beef burrito which was tender and juicy. Also, the Fajitas Pescador had a mound of beef and chicken with great grilled veggies on the bottom. The only drawback was that the fajitas only had a few shrimp on top (looked like there were more in the picture of the dish) and the chicken was a bit on the dry side for both the fajitas and the taco. Regardless, if you're looking to satisfy your appetite and get a lot of good food that's not going to break the bank, keep this family-owned, Highland Park gem in mind.

Tyler V.

Yelp
Wish I could give 6 stars. Food is always good, they have excellent happy hour deals and the service is always super fast and friendly. If you want a delicious, authentic meal at a reasonable price, El Pescador is the spot.

Yelp
First Time here. Wait time was not very long for it to be a Saturday Evening (that's a Thumbs up). We were a Group of Six. When seated the waitress got our drink orders and got them to us Right away, along with chips and Salsa. Menu was Great has a few Pictures for us people that Prefer a visual of what we are ordering ;) once we ordered the food was out in a decent time. it was super good and we will definitely be returning soon. if ever in Highland Park and are in mood for some Sea Food this is the Place.

Marcella Q.

Yelp
Food was great! They were quite busy when I went on a Friday afternoon but the service still was good :). Ambiance was nice as they playing lots of good Spanish oldies. Shrimp fajitas were great for anyone abstaining from red meat during Lent.

Sang Joo L.

Yelp
Three of us came in to order three food items to take out. Got home to discover we only received two food items and two sets of utensils. Called them to inform of the mistake and the phone was getting passed around and the line ended up dropping. I don't know, the customer attention is clearly lacking here. Food is pricey too. Probably won't be going back.

Brenda G.

Yelp
Good food. Great service and good music. We were accomodated for a large group.. it was a fun experience. Staff was nice and friendly.

Destiny E.

Yelp
Customer service wasn't the best but the food made up for it. Parking is horrible- you'll have to most likely find street parking and good luck with that. We ordered camarones empanizados- sooooo good. As well as the 3 ceviche plate- I believe it's called ceviches divorciados. One of the ceviches were sooo spicy but all 3 were really good. I will say that I've showed up though around 30 minutes before closing time and they're all locked up. So don't try to come here last minute- you won't make it. Overall delicious food and will definitely be back.

Luis H.

Yelp
This review is solely based on the customer experience that we had. We left because of the disrespectful request that we got from the young host, Eduardo. At first, we were standing in front of the door to prevent our kids from exiting the door. He requested that we do not stand in front of the door, and if we can move to the side which was reasonable because people want to come in and out frequently. The second request, however, we were waiting to be seated and the wait was over 30 minutes which we were fine with. He requested that we exit the restaurant with our kids and wait outside in the cold and raining weather. There were no other families and our kids weren't crying and they were not running around the restaurant. We simply left and went to go eat elsewhere. They ended up calling us because we left our number and asked if we had left. We stated we did, and if we could speak to the manager, however the manager was not working at the time that we left.

Brenda J.

Yelp
I am so sad that I can give this place a better rating. I been coming here since I was a child and the service and food had always been amazing unfortunately the restaurant is now under new management and well things change. The people who run out the food do a horrible job they argue with the customers, forget to bring out silverware, tortillas, chips and say they did. The manager is new and doesn't really listen to the customer when they talk he is to worries about other stuff happening around him. I hope it get better with time. Service wise they need to improve. On a positive note because I did give it three stars the cooks are amazing the food is still great and the drinks are good. They have a big parking space and good music playing. So if you do want to try this place I would recommend going during a time they are not busy so that you can get adequate service or take out (if it is offered). Not sure sorry.

Memo G.

Yelp
Combination Fajitas Plate.., Shrimp was bland, beef low quality. Non Alcoholic Beverages don't have prices on menu...? Ask about happy hour and it's basically at their discretion, no food or appetizers for happy hour, place isn't cheap, for the price there's so many better options. At least the server was courteous and did remake my order after seeing my dissatisfied face.

Carmen M.

Yelp
My husband and I went to grab late lunch yesterday, We were gladly surprised that they have new waiters, and the new team ( at least our waitress Daniela I believe) she was kind, attentive and actually seemed like she liked to help us; was refreshing and a big change from other times we visited the place and service wasn't good. Food haven't change, a little overpriced and meh flavor; the only thing was delicious was rajas con crema, which is a side dish. I had green enchiladas, and nothing special, never got the green sauce tangy flavor they usually have, or any flavor whatsoever. Again, great service, covid precautions taken, nice.

Susan A.

Yelp
Their aguachiles is FIRE it's the best I've had. So delicious. Wow. I highly recommend this place.

Diana H.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places for oysters they are fresh and reasonably priced, seafood is fresh. Definitely recommend if you are patient at times there are many people!!

JC P.

Yelp
Food is always great, but not the service, the manager bring my food but he never thought I need a fork to eat. Funny ha...

Edward M.

Yelp
Best seafood In town Fresh sea food that won't break your bank Good service Great salsa

Fenrir W.

Yelp
I ordered seafood mix and it was off Nothing fresh about this place. Got sick of my stomach after the first bite. Being a place that serves seafood, what else can you possible order after that nasty experience

Sipi C.

Yelp
Always great service and great food. I ordered take out today for my parents and wasn't sure if they had any kind of breakfast burrito since (I thought) it's a seafood place and the gentleman on the phone was quick to let me know they can make whatever I wanted! I got a chorizo and egg burrito and it was so good! Only thing was that we didn't get the onion and cilantro (sad face) but we were very happy with the food Thank you

Jesse K.

Yelp
Prices went up at restaurant and on the uber eats app. Especially a Tostada de ceviche used to be around 8 bucks. Now it's 16. I go somewhere else now

Alex K.

Yelp
One of my favorite places been coming here for years now, good food nice workers and really good borrachitas

Laura F.

Yelp
Large parties of 9 or more forget about going!!! We waited an hour plus and kept getting the run around from the staff as to when we would be seated!!! Wait 15 min over and over again. The staff had a I DONT CARE ATTITUDE. Should have been honest from the beginning if they weren't going to seat us!!!!! NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL WE EVER GO. Shame on El Pescador!!!! Went to Fuentes down the street- WOW great food & service!!!

Serena ..

Yelp
Standard fast casual Mexican menu with lots of seafood and steak options. Large portions and sports TVs

Diemay G.

Yelp
We used to go to the smaller location in Cypress Park on Division street yrs ago. That location sold & became Tres Palmas. We panicked but then noticed the menu stayed intact so we kept going. But then they closed permanently and we were crushed. Always had the idea that the bigger El Pescador wasn't as great because we had a bad experience at the West Covina branch but my friend n I came here today to give it a chance. Amazing micheladas, tostadas mixtas, camarones al mojo, caldo de pescado... everything was delicious, our waitress was really nice, amazing service. We may have overstayed a bit as we were just indulging in the moment and catching up over delicious food but we appreciated their patience as we were the last ones to leave. Thank you, El Pescador, HP! We'll definitely be back.

Alicia P.

Yelp
I really love the food here , our first time here we we're celebrating our anniversary. I have to say one of the best Mexican seafood place that we have tried. Recommend the oysters and multajete seafood. An extra thanks to Mary our waiter super nice.

Shannon Z.

Yelp
It was my first time here and I came by here with my coworkers on a Friday afternoon. We were immediately seated down and were handed the menu. I was told that there was a lunch menu but we had to ask for it. Service was kinda slow because there was a service button on our table but the waiters didn't come for a while. We had to push it a couple of times. When we were seated, they gave us a free appetizer of chips and salsa which was really good because we didn't get our food right away and was starving. I ordered the spicy shrimp that came with rice, salad w/ guac, and beans but I was able to switch the beans out for fries which was really nice. The shrimp was good, it was a good amount of spicy but I can probably imagine it being really spicy for other people. Everything else was decent as well. I think that overall, I had a well first impression of this place. I probably would come back if my coworkers wanted to come back. I'm glad I'm getting more exposed to Mexican food so I can see what the different types of food they have. There's a small lot in the back of the store; additional parking is at the doctors office next door so there should be more than enough parking. I believe there's happy hour but I forgot what time. Good place to come if you want to take your time to eat but since I have a time limit for lunch, probably not a good place to eat if there's a time crunch.

Juan Z.

Yelp
You must eat here. Service was outstanding from the person that sat us down to the waiter that was checking on us every possible second. The food here was Flawless, Flavorful and well-prepared. Potions are hearty so be ready! To grub. Had the platter with the wife .. All the meats (carne asada, chicken, carnitas and chorizo) all tender and no fat , WHOA !! My son had the Fajita platter, Dang !!! Watch out it comes hot and yummy!!! Good solid spot.

Dulce J.

Yelp
I ordered shrimp a la diabla and asked for half spice of what is usually is. It is inedible because of how spicy it is. If they were unable to make them less spicy they should have told me instead of leading me to believe they wouldn't be spicy.
