Our friends treated us... Gotta love friends who do! We had 3 grilled fish burritos and 1 Carnitas. 2 of us added guacamole. The bomb!!! Now the various hot sauces made it MORE amazing, too. 4 burritos and 2 drinks over $70.. But hey. No need for tips at this joint. So drop by if u are ever in the area. The place was filled right after we got there!!

We came here to support our friend with her school fundraiser, she said El Pollo grill would donate a % to them. I must say we were pleasantly surprised, this place is great. They have family meal packages to go or eat there. We order the chicken with all the fixings for 4. It is delicious 😋 Everyone very friendly. Definitely added to our list of faves!

Came in for the 1st time on a co workers recommendation to try the "619 Mysterio Burrito". The Burrito had plenty of shrimp but lacked Carne Asada and Pollo Asado. It seemed more like an overpriced shrimp burrito at $17.00. The burrito was on the bland side but not horrible. Friendly staff and clean environment. I give this a 2 star review due to the menu being overpriced overall. There are plenty of other Taco Shops that have better offerings for a cheaper prices in town. I wont be back anytime soon.

Great Mexican fast food, quick service, generous potions. Enjoyed the carne asada quesadilla, fish tacos, chicken rolled tacos. Second time here with family, we'll be back!

I arrived in San Diego and wanted a quick convenient meal at a family owned Mexican style restaurant. This place was recommended to me by the individual whose AirBnB I was staying at. The service was really good and the place had a lot of customers. It could have used a bit of a cleaning as I had to wipe up my table a bit. That aside, the food was absolutely delicious. I got one of the flame broiled chicken specials which included: 2 pieces of flame broiled chicken, rice, charro beans and choice of tortillas. Plenty of food for a reasonable price.

An employee started clipping her nails while sitting on the table next to us where we were finishing our food. We were so grossed out by it we decided to leave which is so frustrating because we were enjoying the delicious food. She was trimming her long nails with a nail clipper and all the nail trimmings were thrown to the floor.

I usually go to the pollo Grill in lemon grove. I was around plaza Bonita an looking for something to eat came to this pollo grill thing it was the same thing only to find out that they are far from the same they do not have the same salsas an as a long time customer you know that the salsa makes a big difference. The Best Grilled Chicken this side of the Border! For Sure all food is very Good,I however prefer the chicken slowly grilled,juicy, it comes with side of rice,beans (refried beans for me thank you) it cost a bit more but is worth it,corn tortillas,flour or you can have half corn half flour,salsa bar ,come hungry you'll like it

Totally worth getting in your car and driving from wherever you are to get bomb grilled chicken, rice, beans, and steaming hot tortillas. It's been a while since I've had fast casual food that was this good. It might not look like much from the pictures, but it was packed with flavor. I don't know what they put in those beans and I don't want to know, I could drink them. I got the half chicken with rice and beans and an extra side of rice and beans. Was totally enough for two people to share the chicken expertly seasoned and fall off the bone tender they make three different types of salsa and and all of them were super tasty. The restaurant was very clean, even though it was busy. There was even someone actively cleaning the bathroom, which I super appreciate. I love having a nice place to wash my hands before I eat.

Sharing a negative experience I forgot to post several months ago...Never coming back to this location as a result of several negative experiences, but this one takes the cake. Saturday, July 13, 2024, 3pm-picked up a large order I had placed for my husband's birthday celebration today. When I arrived home and checked the items, I noticed that the tortillas, which were supposed to be included with the 12-piece chicken order, were missing. I called the restaurant and was told that the chef ensured the tortillas were included. The woman I spoke with (whose name I did not get) suggested I check everything again, including my car, in case the tortillas were misplaced. I informed her that I had already checked everywhere and could not find the tortillas. She then reluctantly offered to have me return to pick up the missing tortillas. My husband, whose birthday celebration this dinner was for mind you, went to the restaurant to pick up the tortillas. However, he was only given corn tortillas instead of the mixed tortillas we had ordered. When he pointed this out, the woman insisted that I had said we ordered corn tortillas, which was incorrect. Despite showing her the receipt that clearly stated MIXED tortillas after I sent a picture of the receipt to my husband while he was waiting at the restaurant, she begrudgingly took back the corn tortillas and went to get the correct order, all while mumbling complaints under her breath. We are regular customers here, and this experience was not only inconvenient but also ruined our celebration. We had to make an unnecessary second trip to the restaurant, only to be met with rudeness and a lack of accountability. To make matters worse, no apology was offered for the inconvenience. We let everyone know at the celebration about this unpleasant experience. After this, we won't be coming back to your restaurant.

I love this place been coming for years and it never lets down. We ordered this plate and two ate from it, I love their salsa bar some of that salsitas is actually spicy, their flour tortillas are handmade fresh, prices are good location is good, sometimes hard to find parking but it's worth it that chicken is always .

Their chicken is so tasty and cooked to perfection. We went on Taco Tuesday and ordered the Pollo Asado Tacos, we got a total of 5 tacos and they were HUGE and packed with chicken, guac and pico de gallo. I seriously was full off of one taco. I've also ordered their Flame Broiled Chicken in the past and the chicken is so flavorful and juicy. 10/10 recommend eating here.

We get catering from here twice a month or more and the food is ok but we never get enough plates. Or serviceware. The chicken breast are always dry. Rice and beans are fine.

I heard great things about this spot, so we went here after having pizza next door. You can see them cook the chicken in the window while you wait for your order! We got a California burrito, surf and turf fries, beef rolled tacos, and the 12- piece chicken meal. The burrito was loaded with lots of meat! The chicken was very flavorful and came with tortillas, rice, charro beans, and pinto beans! It was so much food! Everything was delicious! Can't wait to come back when the cravings hit.

Another successful Taco Tuesday Tryout for us. We have been El Pollo Grill Customers for their awesome Family Chicken Meals; which are AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS. We decided to try them out for Taco Tuesday. Upon entering, we saw several parties waiting for phoned in orders, which was a great sign. There were about 4 tables and 1 booth available for seating, and the place was super bright and welcoming. The menus are very well written, bright, and perfectly located above the ordering counter. The woman who helped us, Lili, was super customer service oriented. She answered our first question, "Do you have Taco Tuesday Specials?" very well. They have: $1.50 Grilled Fish Tacos, $3.50 Carne Asada Tacos, $2.99 Pollo Asado and Carnitas Tacos. They also gave Modelo, Pacifico, and Corona Mexican Beers in bottles in the chilled beverage case, yay! We found a cute nostalgic table for two with red chairs. It was next to the chef viewing window so that we could see them prepare the yummy food and chicken that we love to get here. They have authentic tortillas and the chef area is clean, tidy, and orderly. I was impressed. Our food was DELICIOUS! We had: 2 Grilled Fish Tacos, 1 Carne Asada Taco, 1 Pollo Asado Taco. 1 Order of Rice and Beans, and 2 Mexican Beers. Everything in this location is clean and tidy. There is a woman who is actively clearing clutter from the tray return, the condiments area, and the freestyle drink machine area. She was very customer service oriented as well. We will mark this place for one of our new go-to places for Taco Tuesday. Great food, great vibe, great traditional Mexican Music, and they had the NBA Finals Game on one of the TVs (bonus!).

I brought my mother in law here for her birthday lunch as she was craving some tacos. We got two fish tacos, two chicken, and a California burrito. The lady at the register was very nice and helpful in answering my MIL's questions. She even wrote a little happy birthday message on the to go box! That was very sweet of her. Our food was as delicious as always! Flavorful and juicy, and the burrito was a great size! I always love coming here.

Sorry guys. Gonna have to give you a 3. But it's not about the food. The food was GREAT. Tad dry but still better than pollo loco. Beans and rice were excellent. Corn and flour tortillas hot as hell. Good stuff. But, the reason why you get 3 is there's No salsa of some sort in my order. You display images of the orders with salsa in it but never got it in my order. That makes my order not so great. Grilling chicken to Mexican style but no salsa, that's like saying g having a hot dog without ketchup or mustard. Good thing I didn't tip you guys since you didn't complete my order correctly. Still, food was really good. Will buy again but don't screw up!

I'm very impressed! I'm very picky about my Mexican food. I usually only go to 1 taco shop but after trying El Pollo Grill I think I will start coming here too! I tried the Cali burrito with carne asada and it was sooo filling and tasty. They are definitely not stingy with the portion sizes. The cashiers are very nice and the place itself is clean and colorful. For dessert I had a churro and flan...which were not my favorite. But food wise, every plate I saw them give out looked so delicious. Next time I go I will definitely try something else on the menu!

Love the food here. We order chicken taco combo and carne asada burrito. They always have the Padres game too. Service is good.

Love this San Diego chain for flame broiled chicken! People tend to confuse this with "El Pollo Loco", but NOT the same, EPG is way better. I've been eating here for a few years now since I discovered it at this bonita and otay ranch location. Both these locations offer a 10% military discount, but the restaurant in spring valley does not for some reason. Service has never been an issue, everyone is always kind. I like to order the monday special which is a 12 piece chicken with two large sides for about 30 bucks. The burritos here are also really tasty and portion sizes are good.

Glad I stumbled upon this place because I thought it was an El Pollo Loco, lol. But nevertheless, amazing food with amazing service. It's a little small inside, but there is some outside seating. My go-to order is the 619 Mysterio fries/chips.

This establishment focuses on the grill but reads predominantly Mexican food - lots of options - fries and chips with several options of protein and also the same for burritos and then the meals that start with a grilled chicken (1/4, 1/2 or full), tortillas, and then options for sides. Prices higher than last visit but not quite yet to the point where you search for cheaper options (certainly can find cheaper Mexican fare but grilled like this - not likely) Tempted to try their version of carne asada fries but know I can't (or shouldn't) do a serving on my own I opted for a 1/4 grilled chicken with fries, salad and corn tortillas. It was a "to-go" order. The salsa bar is modest - three options - their primary red has a kick and the one labeled "spicy!" Is accurate. I have strong tolerance and these were pleasing - stayed mostly with the primary red. Didn't try the green. Pros Well packaged Decent portion size Tortillas rock Salsa on point Flavorful chicken Cons Salad dressing in same size container as salsa so assumed they forgot salad dressing - meed to mark or otherwise separate No utensils in bag No napkins in bag Chicken a touch dry I'd definitely return - I might ask for a chicken just off the grill which might result in a juicier chicken. Give it a try.

Not happy when I get home and cut my chicken burrito in half to share with a family member and I find this huge chicken bone. Then when I start eating the burrito, I have to worry about eating more bones and who know what else.

We usually go there and get the family chicken meal which is INCREDIBLE, but tonight we decided to share a burrito. Not just any burrito....the San Diego Burrito. It was a fever dream, in a good way, especially since we added two chicken taquitos in our burrito. Basically, this gynormous (easily sharable even for two super hungry people) delicious burrito was filled to the brim with carne asada, fresh shrimp, bacon, rice, fries, guac, cheese and two chicken taquitos. OMG, flavor and texture explosion. This burrito was so tasty I will dream about it. The servers were friendly and the decor was festive and casual. We were happy to find outdoor seating because the music was super loud inside. Also, I was excited at first that they had a Coke Freestyle machine but quickly became disappointed because there were no caffeine free soda options aside from Sprite. I typically like to get Caffeine free Diet Coke from those machines and the Sprite was flat to boot. But I didn't come for the drinks--the burrito spoke for itself. We're already regulars here but now we're going to have to switch up our order more often because they have so many amazing food options. Looking forward to trying the chiliquiles burrito next time!

Working down the street from pollo grill is so convenient to come and get Delicious food. The service is always so great, very helpful and friendly. I like that they are always making sure the tables are clean. I had a grilled fish burrito which could have feed 2 people. My coworker got the chicken walnut and cranberry salad, also Huge. I really recommend you share one item. The portions are huge!! The food is absolutely delicious and so fresh. I liked when they had Daily specials but they don't have those anymore. I still Love this place and the Grilled Chicken and refried beans are SO DELICIOUS!!!!! I will try there breakfast burritos next, stand by for that review. Love it!!!!

This is my go to for a chicken cali burrito. It's always fresh and the portions are very generous. I'm always cutting my burrito in half to eat the next day or later in the day. Great customer service and delicious Mexican fast food.

Food: awesome!!! My daughter got the California Burrito and hubby & got shrimp tacos. Hubby & I would've gotten the shrimp burritos, but their shrimp burrito has rice. I asked if they can leave it out, yes they can. I asked if they can sub with lettuce, that's when her face changed, the smile disappeared and the voice became gruff - no, we don't do substitutions! And so there goes my happy face. (I am very reactive). Ok, so that's why we got the shrimp taco instead of the burrito. And left 10% tip instead of 20%. A 10% difference isn't much but for me, every cent counts, why still leave a tip? Money is money, every cent counts, it may not be much, but once upon a time, I think about how much milk I can buy for my kids with how much money is left after paying our bills - I don't want kind of living for anyone, and so I tip, hoping it helps someone, even a little bit. Ambience: meh, it's just a place to eat & go, no reason to dawdle. All in all, I will still support El Pollo Grill, just not this location. I prefer the Otay Ranch Mall branch. The staff are friendlier and happier.

We eat at El Pollo Grill at least once a week these days and it is always delicious. Our favorites are the bowls (shrimp, chicken, or steak), the rolled tacos and the mulitas. It's hard to beat food that makes you feel happy to be alive. The service is always friendly and the establishment is always clean. Bright colors are everywhere. I love that this location has outdoor seating. The staff here is super friendly. If you are looking for fresh, well made Mexican food, local to Bonita/Chula Vista - we love this location.

My first time trying, portions were hugh bought for 2 it fead 4 easy, no one was hungry, all the food was delicious!

Pretty mixed feelings on this... Overall the flavor is great and salsas too. The two BIG problems: My momma ordered a chicken burrito, the receipt was correct, and when we got home it was beef. The issue here is more so that many people don't eat beef and that's why they order chicken so this would be completely not edible and at almost $20 a burrito that's a big loss! The second major issue was that my chicken burrito was indeed chicken... WITH SHARP BONES. My first bite out of the second half of my burrito was a large shark shard of bone in the shredded chicken. Not only did it hurt, but it doesn't belong... a lot of room to improve quality control. Again flavor is excellent, but for the price I expect WAY better quality control in order accuracy and of no bones in shredded chicken.

On Friday Dec 1, we placed an online order as we typically do 2-3 times per month for the 1LB Carne Asada Meal and always specify to substitute Pinto Beans instead of Refried beans because we do not eat pork products and understand the refried beans contain pork. Upon arriving to the house to eat, we were discovered we had received refried beans. Going back to the restaurant was not going to work since the rest of the food would have gotten cold and our family's dinner would have been delayed another hour by the time we'd return. We emailed El Pollo Grill that same evening about our experience. After 2 weeks without a reply, we sent a follow up email which has not been acknowledged to date 21 days later.

Fresh food, delicious, cooked great. Friendly, attentive staff. My go-to neighborhood place.

We decided on dinner after all this evening. A little late and didn't want to pay the crazy fees to have anything delivered. So I ordered from ChowNow and we picked it up 1/2 before closing. Our food was great!! No regrets ever. Michelle's chicken salad is my all time favorite. We also had a carne asada burrito and a beef taco. They were delicious and the proportions are huge!! I honestly believe two people can share a burrito and even the salad. Delish!!! (We were so hungry that I didn't get any photos.). Don't take my word, try them out if you haven't. You're going to love it.

Food service and the ambiance is so amazing. They have the biggest burritos. And it was well worth my price.the rolled tacos are to die for. If you eat there the food comes out hot what an amazing place

This restaurant deserves a 10 star rating for the quality of its ingredients. One of the best taco shops in san Diego by far. Hopefully they stay this way

Before yesterday, I had only been to their other location in the lemon grove area, but this time I was nearby for something else so I decided to give this location a try. I got a chicken combo ($15.99) and pollo asada fries ($15.99) which both came out in about 10 mins after ordering. It smelled so good and I was rushing to make my 20 minute drive home to eat. When I finally made it home, I realized the pollo asada fries were missing and they instead gave me carne asada fries. I questioned myself as I wondered if I made my the mistake of ordering carne asada. I checked my receipt and confirmed, i had ordered it right but the restaurant made the mistake. At this point, it was too far to go back to change it so I just ate the wrong plate. The carne asada was good, but I was still craving the pollo instead so I was disappointed while eating. I'll go back again if I'm nearby, but I'll definitely be checking my order is correct before leaving the restaurant. They do have a big sign regarding wrong orders, stating the customer must inform them before eating the food... I wonder if they have this due to the many mistakes that occur.

The place is impeccable and clean! All the time a kind collaborator named Karina is smiling and cleaning... The family-sized food serves 5 people very well! It's our first time and we intend to return many others.. El lugar es impecable de limpio! Everything was fresh and delicious! Great customer service! I called ahead and ordered their rolled tacos with carne asada on top. I've always wanted to try them and they were so good and filling! Everything tasted like it was homemade...the tortillas, the meat inside the tacos, and the guacamole! Yum! I didn't care for their empanada so though. I thought they'd be made fresh, but they're pre-packaged. No problem, just not my preference :)

Been here a few times. Got the bowl and got tacos. Chicken tacos are good. You can tell the quality is better than most fast food taco spots. Bowl is okay. I'd come back for chicken tacos again.

Need a carne asada fries with shrimp fix?! Say less. Come here! Portion and flavors are on point and definitely worth the $16.99 plus tax. The cooks look like they enjoy what they do as they sing and it shows through the flavors of the food. The only downfall... I wish the cashiers/front staff are more welcoming! The least they could say is Hi welcome and be greeted with a smile. Energy and kindness goes a long way especially if you want returning/regular customers.

This toco shop is one of my favorite's. I really enjoy their carne asada salad. It almost the same as their carne asada chips but with out the chips and more lettuce. It a healthier choice. They do load it up with meat I would say it's gonna enough to split for two people. They are always busy I always call my order in and pick it up. Their staff is very friendly and always smiling which means they are taking good care of their staff.

My update has not wavered at all, in fact, I think we eat here at least once every couple of weeks whether it is pickup or through a delivery service like ubereats (pricing is a little higher unfortunately). Their food has not changed it has been consistently good, of course we have our favorites and the salsas are spicy and up to par for flavor. I recently ordered a pollo asado salad, it was simply huge and enough for a meal for 2 people, or two of me, or two meals! Love their daily specials!!! Must check out their taco Tuesday as they carry beer and have an in house taco & beer special. Staff is always friendly and on top of it taking orders and getting orders out. Definitely ask for salsa in your order if you are ordering for delivery services, sometimes not included. They do catering as well!

Not sure how this place has 4 stars. I just had it delivered and it was worse than something frozen that you could microwave. The guac is not good at all. The chips were alright, just everything seemed like it was scooped out of a jar. Vey bland. Chipotle tastes better than this.

I usally only eat my own homemade Menudo , I had gone a hike and grew really hungry. I suddenly got a craving for menudo, I ended up this Saturday at El Pollo Grill . Having been taught how to make menudo from my parents I was skeptical on how this was gonna turn out. Once served hot I was totally surprised. The bowl was served hot with onions, cilantro, oregano and limes. Tortillas were corn fresh and hot, my only want was butter to go with the tortillas. The meat was sliced a little big hanging off my spoon and the grease level could have been scraped a few times off the pot. Like I said it's a solid #2 to my Menudo at home. The music was great as well, great way to spend a Saturday Morning listening to Chente' Great Job El Pollo Grill !!

I ordered a burrito bowl. They put it in a rectangular container. I usually share it with my wife. She always complains about it. I got one for myself today and ate half of it and noticed there weren't any beans. I called to complain and found out that for the bowls they put the beans on one side and the rice on the other the other. This doesn't make sense at all. Please change the way you make your bowls and distribute everything across the bowl. When I called the store to complain I was told I need to email the owner and take a picture of my bowl. I was never given the email. The person was really nice but really?! I have to do all that to file a complaint.

Solid burrito but the water is unfiltered tap water on the freestyle machine which means all the soda is unfiltered also. At least it's cold but it's definitely hard to drink.

Great food, great staff! We support this place because the owner supports the community! I love all the fundraising and donations Victor gives to our local schools! The Otay Ranch location also has an amazing mural of all the famous celebrities that have come from San Diego! As a native San Diegan I love seeing all the love and support from this place!

I love this place! Our go to is their whole chicken, it's always perfect! Service is great, place is clean. If you plan on take out, order ahead, wait times aren't that bad but at least you'll be in and out in a jiffy. Only downside is parking. We are here at least twice a month!

SOOO good and HUGE portions for a good price!!! The food is so yummy and the staff is super friendly. There's indoor and outdoor seating so I think that's nice if you have a bigger party.

Great food and flavors, the portions are pretty big and can feed two easily. Primarily to go, there are a few tables and not very comfortable to eat there. Good sauces !!!

Yum! Got to try El Pollo Grill for takeout a few days ago. Definitely the best chicken of its kind in San Diego. The taste is that of el pollo loco or a rotisserie chicken but better more authentic and fresher. We had their 12 piece meal which is plenty of chicken for 4 adults. The chicken was a little under seasoned for my taste but once mixed with everything else it works out. Their rice is ok, but their beans are definitely good. The meal is served with tortillas, the flour ones tasted fresh and like they were made in house. We placed an order online through their site and were given an estimated pick up time. When my husband arrived (a few mins early) it was ready to go! Awesome. We will definitely be back. And, I hope they make it out to North Park one day!

My wife like your chicken salad so I stop at least one or two time at month yea for her But today went they take my order they asked me for the dressing and I said ranch, ones the salad was ready they ask me again and I said ranch. Went I get the bag I noticed the is no fork or napkins and went I ask the girl on the register she looks at me like i yes give you one I don't said anything and leave. Went I get home and get the salad is only one fork no napkins and insert of ranch they give us vinaigrette. Pleas if you ask to many times make sure you do it right and don't forget the utensils

They didn't have to go this hard but they did and they didn't just do it for me, they did it for everyone! I been coming here for their LEGIT shredded chicken bowl, nobody can beat this and if you can, please, my DMs are open. Anyway, I decided to be extra hefty today and added a shrimp taco to the list and let me tell you, holy F! Thank you my dudes, I have had a $hitty year and I love good food. Much as gracias.
