El Portal is truly an exceptional place. The atmosphere is absolutely unreal — everything, from the people to the service, to the quality of the products, is on another level. The attention to detail is remarkable: the interior design, the tableware, the glassware, the lighting — every element is carefully thought out and perfectly executed. The staff are not only professional but clearly trained to provide a top-tier experience. You can feel the passion and precision in everything they do. It all comes together to create a space where you completely disconnect from the outside world. This is the kind of place that allows you to fully enjoy your food, the ambiance, and most importantly — a real, unhurried conversation with your colleagues, friends, or family. We highly recommend visiting El Portal at least once in your life — you definitely won’t regret it.

I don’t have words to describe how wonderful was my experience with food and services. Andrea is a great staff, she did more than serve food to us, she gave to us the full cultural experience about arroz, vinos and quesos. I recommend this place.

Absolutely fantastic meal! We went for the taster menu and weren't disappointed. The atmosphere is really nice, we absolutely loved the moulin rouge vibe and loved the decor. We'd recommend to anyone, the whole experience was faultless

Disappointing experience – watch out for hidden charges! Visited El Portal in Alicante with high expectations, but unfortunately, it turned out to be quite a letdown. The food was just okay — nothing particularly wrong with it, but nothing memorable either. For the high prices, we expected something much more impressive in both quality and creativity. What really ruined the experience was the pricing. On top of the already expensive menu, they sneakily added a 10% service charge (tip) without telling us. Then, another 10% tax was added, which also wasn’t clearly communicated. The final bill ended up being much higher than expected. That feeling of being tricked really spoiled the night. Sure, the place looks stylish and has a good location, but overall, the experience left a bitter aftertaste — literally. Wouldn’t go back.

El Portal is a stunning spot with a lively, cool vibe that hits you the moment you walk in. The cocktails are genuinely delicious, crafted with care, and the Spanish cuisine feels both authentic and inviting. Coming back after a long time made the visit even better. Dinner was excellent, the atmosphere was as charming as I remembered, and we ended up having a truly great time. This place continues to be a standout for a relaxed, flavorful evening.

Underwhelming experience. Had high expectations due to the reputation. Meat was pretty good but definitely not “Extreme quality”. The sides however were worse than your average tourist restaurant tapas. 12 euros for store bought fries. Considering the prices I am quite disappointed with the whole experience. The bread that was “on the house” actually cost 4 x 3,90. They also tried to add 10% tip without asking. The staff were quite friendly tho.

The very cool el portal was the place to go on my short trip to alicante. A place at the cocktail bar, l was entertained and enthralled by the excellent mixology shown by the staff. The epitome of professionalism and the quality of drinks and customer service makes el.portal stand out. The interior is moody and very jazz club vibes. The DJ played some great music too. While l never ate while l was here, the cocktails were sublime but with that comes the hefty price tag. The use premium alcohol which makes this place stand out but expect to pay for that. If you want a cool experience I'd highly recommend.

Everything tastes better in a place like this. But having said that the food was absolutely gorgeous and you couldn't fault it. We tried scallops, mini Kobi burger (OMG, it was 'melt-in-your-mouth" good) and lamb shoulder. We sat at the bar counter and our server was friendly and professional. I'd recommend a booking especially when you're a group of 3 or bigger and make sure you confirm your booking in the email.
