El Puente – A Unique Take on Mexican Food in Oberammergau El Puente is one of those places that seems to get very mixed reviews—some people say it used to be great, others still swear by it, and a few say it’s not really worth it anymore. So, I went in with open expectations while on a work trip with a large group. What I found was that while the food quality itself was good, the dishes aren’t exactly what you’d expect from a traditional Mexican restaurant—especially if you’re familiar with authentic Mexican cuisine outside of Europe. It’s more of a European twist on Mexican food, with some creative liberties taken. So if you’re expecting real-deal tacos or street-style flavors, you might be caught off guard. That said, we still had a really nice time. The atmosphere was fun, the service was solid, and it ended up being a great place to enjoy a relaxed meal with colleagues. Just go in knowing that it’s “Mexican-inspired” rather than authentically Mexican. Bottom Line: El Puente serves good-quality food with a European-Mexican fusion twist. It’s not traditional Mexican by global standards, but it’s a fun, friendly spot—especially for groups. Worth checking out, just temper your expectations if you’re a purist.

Appetizers were good. Burger and fries were good as well. Mexican food wasn’t good. Fajitas were a chicken and shrimp stew served with corn. Not served on a hot skillet with mixed peppers and onions. Garlic dip was delicious as were the classic and strawberry margarita. Service was slow when the location started to get packed.

Excellent Mexican restaurant. Great cocktails, starters and main courses. I've tried a lot of Mexican restaurants over the years and this one is definitely top 3! Staff works hard and clean everything between guests, and they have an eye on the tables and that's a big plus! They are fast helpful and food is excellent!

Well deserved 5 stars. The food is very good (but a bit pricey), would try it again in the next days. L.E. After 3 years Same atmosphere, but the food is no longer what it used to be. Eg. The burgers meat is a mere frozen / supermarket. Why? Do they think customers are stupid? The Spare ribs are still OK, but not the same.

This place is on point! The food was good and not overpriced. Service was very fast and friendly. The atmosphere is great. Highly recommended.

Comida deliciosa! We have eaten chili con carne like never before. It was a simple meal but very tastefull. We didn’t order a appetizer and couldn’t eat a dessert, and that’s not a complaint. A vew days later we ate fajitas. Also delicious! Both times we took as dessert an espresso. Loved it! The ambiance is cozy and the waiters very kind. We will come back.

Customer service was perfect, atmosphere great, absolutely the worst two half burritos I've ever had in my life. The beef and bean half had corn in it, and the tortilla was dry. The red sauce had some sort of weird curry taste to it (€18).
