I am in love with this Mexican place. I felt like I was back in Mexico eating. The food has a lot of flavor and their hand made tortillas are so good. Their Aguas frescas are amazing, we got the mango with pineapple and the lemon with cucumber and both were amazing. Their prices are affordable and reasonable. I definitely would recommend this place if you want authentic Mexican good, thank you for your service. The waitress was very nice and patient with us as it was our first time, thank you.

Tried the SW location on White Lane. The good was amazing. Live music after 8p on the weekend. The food came out super fast! And their cazuela drink is a big boy! Coming back asap! Pictured is a drink is called a cazuela, food are the tacos gobernador, the receipt shows reasonable prices. Gratuity is already included. Also shout out to our server Angel! Loved his energy! He's a great server!

Stay for the beautiful plate presentation Excellent Mexican food! The Excellent house green sauce is one of the specialties!

The food was delicious and very fast , we had the chile con bistec, the enchiladas michoacanas and some Tinga tacos , Manuel was very attentive and really helped us out with all of our needs , a very good waiter

Food was good. Margaritas very good. Parking very good. Close to freeway. Friendly customers and staff. Great experience. Will make it a point to go then anytime I am in town. Thank you Next door to upscale Motel/Hotel.

The day I went the place was just about packed and it looked like one of the servers had been taking his lunch when the crowd arrived so he stopped eating to help out, thank you man. I arrived because I was driving by on the 58 and wanted some more "homemade" food. The hand made tortillas are superb, i definitely recommend this place if not just for the tortillas. Parking is a bit odd. Being that the place is basically attached to a mechanic shop. You have to park further away and walk to it. But worth it.

It's always nice to come here. Great food served in a cool, outdoor atmosphere. You can tell the staff and management here work hard to make this place as enjoyable as it is. Small menu, but all great options.

love this place so much! it’s hard to see good costumer service these day and their costumer service is a 10/10. i would for sure come again. i came with my kids and my mom and we all loved it. the place is well decorated and it looks so beautiful! if your looking for a good place to eat at come here!! ASAP, good prices as well and on top of that the food is delicious!

Bakersfield diamond in the rough. Not to be confused by the other El Puesto's in town. The worst part about this place is where it's at. Been recommending this place to other locals, but I understand that it's a tough choice at first glance. If you go in the fall it's nice and cold so bring a sweater. The food I thought was pretty great. Their plates, cups, and such fit the theme very well. You can feel the Mexican culture brimming! Try the birria, and the shrimp. Definitely the way to go. Our server was very attentive, really took it to the bases recommending his favorites. It was a busy night but he handled it like a champ.

First of all, don't be fooled by the pictures that are attached to this location on Brundage. There may have been a mix-up. So, for clarity, this place has no indoor dining, no alcohol and no wait staff. Yelp reviews are jumbled but beware that you will be dining outside. I wanted to try this location because I heard that it was the original and the best. Aside from it being outside, the decor is nice with a little of the culture on display. There are three or four dining benches outside and a cool El Puesto iron sign adorning the entrance. The food was cold, which was a little strange because we were certain they didn't start to cook it until we ordered it. There was some flavor and we enjoyed the chorizo/bean dip but we don't plan on coming back here anytime soon. The food is authentic, however, it was cold and lacking. Do yourself a favor and spend your money at another Mexican spot.

So yummy, I can't wait to try again. Quesabirria tacos are fire. Defiantly going to come back.

Agua Frescas come in beautifully painted mugs. The juice is refreshing, delicious; serving ample. You will place your order at the service window outside. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Picnic tables outside under a sunshade. I ordered the shrimp taco platter. Yummy rice and beans? Yes. Husband said that the enchilada verdes were the best he's ever had. The homemade tortillas are a great size with an amazing crunch. I highly recommend this restaurant. I'll stop there anytime I'm driving by. It's authentic and worth becoming your favorite new Mexican restaurant too. There's a gas station and a tire shop next door in case you want to multitask.

It's closed. We drove to it because of the reviews and there was nothing there. Kind of disappointed

2nd time here and the service is always great. Food is amazing and portion size is BIG! Only down side is for big parties they will not do separate tickets. (We had 11 people)

This place is BOMBA!!!!!! The food seriously tasted like my grandma's cooking and the fish tacos straight out of Mexicali!!! I failed to take a picture because I was hungry, it smelled so good and I swapped a sope for a fish taco with my sister so it wasn't plates as cute anymore .... But definitely check out yelp pics and on their IG we had the fish tacos and the birria sopes . I went to grab an Estrella beer from the liquor store and it totally hit with the food! We were so satisfied with the food and didn't leave any room to try the concha and hot chocolate, but that is next in my list; promise to take a pic next time Pero I really recommend you go and experience it for yourself! Oh! I almost forgot ... CASH ONLY!

El Puesto is the real deal, as of now on my number one list for most authentic mexican food in Bakersfield.Even better with the Rueditas with salsa valentine instead of chips to start off and fresh Horchata and Agua de Mango. The food, drinks and atmosphere took me back to those trips to Tijuana as a kid, the taste of the Horchata and rice especially. All the food we had was amazing I couldn't really find a flaw in it. The corn tortillas are made fresh on the spot as well. The service was exceptional and our waiter was very attentive and friendly. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and music a true Puesto literally. Just FYI it's cash only which I didn't know till we got there, but they do Zelle just make a mental note of that if anyone who is reading this decides to go. Overall it was very exceptional meal and went beyond what I expected. .

You have to come try the food. Everything is authentically made and this rare gem is conveniently located on a corner light you won't miss it! Best quesabirria tacos ever & they are HUGE. everything was delicious. The agua de pepino was amazing had to order one to go! Tipped the waiter $20 bucks in appreciation for all his hard work!! he greeted us right away.. would check in with us frequently & was very polite/friendly Come out & support this business!!

O-M-G hands down best authentic Mexican food you could ever have! We picked up to go since we are in a bit of a time crunch but we're definitely going back tomorrow it was that DELICIOUS to die for. I highly recommend you to try it!!! Came back to dine in next day in the early afternoon our waitress Sammy provided outstanding customer service. The food was soooooo flavorful we will definitely be back again soon with family and friends.

Stopped in Bakersfield for some food, little did we know that El Puesto would easily become one of my FAVORITE spots !! They serve AUTHENTIC!!! Mexican food, with many dishes served Michoacán style. The fresh handmade tortillas are nice and fluffy and food is so delicious! Anything off the menu is sure to be 10/10. Service was amazing !! Not easily found but here they treat you like family. The seating is plenty and decor is very comfortable! Their agua frescas are so refreshing . Their pineapple and orange agua fresca is one of my favorites ! Can't wait to come back!

My hubby and I went out to celebrate! We haven't been to this location, but I knew of it from Alex's artwork. So we went. It was a nice surprise to enjoy a fine dining in Bakersfield! The food was so flavorful and delicious! My food accidentally had cheese in it when I asked for not due to an allergy, but they quickly fixed the error. The waitress was amazing. I had a drink and it was also amazing!

First time to go; I ordered the carnitas and it was delicious my friends all loved their food service was slow but waiter had 5 star customer service will return again highly recommend

This is the first time try this place on the east side of Bakersfield. The Tinga taco de Mano was okay. The taco was pretty big. What I liked about this taco was the cheese. The Tinga wasn't too good. But I will definitely come back again and try something different. Although, the service was great.

I had the shrimp tacos combo meal with the pineapple drink and the whole meal was amazing! I ate it so fast and thought to review after the fact so the food isn't pictured :)

This is extremely good Norteño Mexican food. It not the normal fare for Bakersfield. The steak is thin and we'll marinated. It is cooked perfectly and is extremely tender. The beans are silky smooth with just a few whole beans left for a nice texture. The tortillas are the star though. This is like being transported to Sonora. They're so fluffy. The restaurant is outside. That gives it character. If there's this many people willingly eatyoutside in Bakersfield you know it must be good. The flies were annoying though. I can't wait to try the new location.

Went to this place Saturday morning at 08:30 and it was closed but the signe said open good thing is not far from 58

So delicious! I've heard a lot about this restaurant on local groups on social media. Many describe it as "little Mexico" and it had the best vibe. We went on a Sunday for brunch and the waitress said when you come back at night it's even better. Definitely in our plans for the future. All of the food was delicious and big portions. My whole family left very happy and full! A couple points to make that affected my rating personally. They are a cash only establishment. They did accept Zelle and Venmo, but I would still prefer the option to use my card. Also they do not have water to drink as an option which is my typical beverage of choice. Their options are coffee, hot cocoa, and Agua frescas. While we were there they ran out of coffee and hot chocolate which left us only agua frescas. My family said the drinks were all delicious and the agua frescas were huge. However, for my family of five, drinks increased our bill by $20 as the frescas are $3.99 each.

The food is amazing, and so unique. Service is always fast, polite, and communicative. Prices are extremely reasonable. The ambiance is amazing, and as unique as the food. The place is an absolute gem that is off the beaten path, but worth the trip.

El Puesto is the best Mexican food I have had in Bakersfield thus far. It took us a minute to find, be sure to drive to the backside of the Chevron station and you will see it. The street tacos are definitely easier to eat than the handmade ones so I prefer those. The al pastor was our personal favorite meat and I always get an agua fresca with my meal. Great service as well!

If you're looking for the best Mexican food in town your search stops here. It's been a very long time since I had a really authentic Mexican food but this place is amazing. Each dish taste like someone spent hours preparing it up and choosing the best ingredients. They're opening up a new location and I cannot wait because if this location was indoor we would be there way more often.

The tables are unstable... the waiters is rude and slow unless you fit a certain demographic. Continues tot are orders while we had no drinks on our table for 20+ minutes. Canceled or order. Bad vibes

Very beautiful restaurant! They play great music & the food is delicious. As far as I'm aware there are no high chairs so not very kid friendly but nonetheless great spot to eat. Perfect for going out with friends & date night

Food was great, we had great service. We tried the aguachiles rojos y los aguachiles el puesto. They didn't disappoint. We loved the Doritos I read of the typical salsa that every restaurant gives you. Definitely coming back again!

If you haven't heard of this place, now you have! Went out there today knowing it was 104°, but heard it was worth it... It totally was! Outdoor seating, this place give you the feels of Mexico, from the tables and chairs to the plates and cups used for your aqua fresca. We sat there talking for about an hour, and it almost felt like we were back in Mexico enjoying some great homemade tortillas. The servers were extremely friendly and very professional. I love that they continually checked on us, refilled our cups, and talked about their food and their new restaurant. I would have to say, that if they close this site down, I would miss it... The food was so good! I will say this, either bring your appetite or bring a couple of friends with you. Servings were large, to say the least... Everything was tasty, no seasoning needed. I love my Baja tacos and my husband noted that the birria tacos could possibly be one of the best in town. So again if you haven't been here yet, you need to go! They are on the corner of Hwy 58 exit and Mount Vernon until they move to their new location. These guys are worth the trip, for the atmosphere, the service, and definitely the food!

Not the greatest Mexican flavor, not very clean and it lacked flavor. We went during the day around noon (lunch time) it's behind a gas station and the bathrooms are nasty and smelly. I just needed to wash my hands. Flies flying around everywhere. Food is overpriced.

El Puesto is a nice, little hole in the wall right off of Brundage. I decided to visit on a Friday night and was immediately impressed with the atmosphere. Rock en Español was blaring from the speakers and there were patrons eating inside and outside. The service was impeccable, and I loved what they did with the decorations. They have literally squeezed every ounce of potential out of the setting. The food includes a rotating menu that is presented by the waiter. I chose The Dish of the night which included handmade tortillas. Incredible. That alone is worth the price of the meal. Aguas frescas are the drinks to get, and they taste as fresh as can get. Definitely recommend El Puesto for a great meal in a humble setting.

This place is excellent, a definite A+. Not only is the atmosphere beautiful but the food & staff were amazing & very tentative. I love how the music was playing & a staff member was singing along to it. We had several drinks off the cocktail menu & every one was delicious & unique in its own way. Guess the bartender called out the day we went but Manual "Manny" our server made our drinks & he did not disappoint. I had the chicken tinga tacos which were a bit spicy for me but they are called tinga. My friend had the shrimp enchiladas & she loved them. Guacamole was probably the best I've ever had. Made fresh & had lime juice in it, served with freshly fried corn chips. We went to the restaurant on California but I hear there's another one on white lane.

I was craving something fresh and Spicy and I remembered seeing this on Yelp so I decided to drive out to try it. Well when I arrive it has a few tables outside not the norm but was greeted by a sweet young man. I did advise him it was my fist time and I was hungry . I went over the menu and they do have lots of choices and a variety of plates. I got a carne Asada sole and my son got the steak plate and my daughter got the quesa birria taco. They have a variety of fresh waters outside on the patio horchata, mango, strawberry , and kiwi I believe but it was delicious. Anyways they give you a fries large jalapeño n your plates which is a plus. They make hand made tortillas and they are not small they are twice the size. Anyways I will be going back and I highly recommend this little spot it's family owned and more authentic than LaCosta . So if your craving something authentic I highly recommend this little spot you won't be disappointed.

THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN TOWN! A little pricey for this type of dinning experience and they only take CASH. I will say that the food quality and taste is so worth the minor inconvenience. The menu changes often so make sure to follow them on IG or call ahead. I've visited a few times already and I am never disappointed with the menu items. I would most definitely recommend the Birria tacos or Baja fish tacos, they are my go to meals when I visit. They do not serve any alcoholic beverages or offer complementary water but they do have Mexican sodas, water bottles for lurch, and homemade aguas frescas. I will say that the star of the show are the freshly made tortillas. Come out and support this local business and indulge in all the authentic Mexican cuisine goodness.

Great food good service mole is great live music and the buffet is great things to note if you go with a big party you will be charged a gratitude

First time here and its nothing really to look at reminds me of those places we would hit in Mexico or Honduras when I was younger..dirt floors and all..but don't let that stop you from trying this place it is excellent..food is great and it's that old school taste manteca and all..hand made tortillas also...no calorie watching here just come here to enjoy the great food and the customer service..we will be back and thank you.

The atmosphere draws you in from the outside, the aroma keeps you in line, the service from hello to goodbye is refreshing with every smile and smooth efficiency... this is all before the food arrives and blows you away with the fresh quality ingredients that you can smell before you taste your first bite. Being my fourth visit, each time I've ordered a something different and I have had a hard time finding anything to complain about. I enjoy the fluctuation in the menu items as I do the essentials, giving you the choice of seasonal variety or the option to stick with your favorites. The music is tastefully thought out and respectful to a broad customer base. Indoor and outdoor seating is comfortable and gives every person an pleasing view of well put together decor and lighting. Come with one other or your whole family, I've seen El Puesto host many different sized groups without sacrificing anything mentioned above. A unique and refreshing spot that combines class and the feel of family simultaneously. A definite place to give a try, and for myself, a place to frequent.

We to el Puesto on a Sunday to the buffet but they only have everyother day but Sunday but no worries decided to have lunch anyway and what pleasant surprise as the food was as tasty as our margaritas oh I forgot to mention the mariachi band what a surprise that was I'd do 6 stars but it's a forsure 5 .. next time I'm taking photos. Oops

Amazing authentic Mexican food! The fish tacos tasted fresh and the salsa was just as good as my mom's. We had quesabirrias, asada and chicken tacos.... Aguas frescas - Horchata, Naranja, Limonada de Fresa....

The food at this place is sooo good and the portions were pretty big. The horchata was also delicious. I'm not a fan of the the location on California but this one is so much better!
