Everyone knows when you're seeking genuine flavors and authentic recipes you follow the locals. That's how I discovered the restaurant at El Ranchero.
It was packed on a Sunday, but we were seating quickly, as there are so many seating options; you can sit at the bar, inside or enjoy the sunshine on the patio.
Bring your appetite, because their menu is massive. There's a Brunch menu and a regular menu to choose from and a drink menu with cocktail choices, if you're in the mood.
My sis & I were on the same page, ordering the Chilaquiles, but mine was roja (red sauce), and hers was verde (green sauce - hot). My niece ordered enchiladas, and my brother went for the steak huevos rancheros. Portions were large and tasted as if you were dining at your abuela's house. Heat levels were at your choosing. My brother's steak was perfectly cooked and he left little if anything on his plate. I got a take out box for what I couldn't eat.
My agua fresca hit the spot and my sis in law enjoyed her Paloma.
You can't leave without checking out the store. There's a pastry area, deli, piñatas, and a massive cerveza selection. Check out the vegetables and don't forget to grab a treat for the kids! If you do, you might just have to grab something from the street vendor on your way out.
There is so much to see, eat, and buy! Hibiscus water anyone? This trip was a sensory explosion of the best kind. Don't sleep on this place.
