Started off with chile con queso to go with our chips, as well as the PB&J Jalapeños. Cheese was good, but the stuffed jalapeños were unique. Stuffed with peanut butter and deep fried, then served with house made pepper jelly. I’ve never seen anything like them before. Hubs got the El Rancho Grande dinner, which was like a sampler and I got the camarones al mojo de ajo. Mine was great- not too crazy with the garlic. Would recommend this place!

I asked for a green salsa. The waitress was new and didn’t advise me that there would be a charge. Which would have been acceptable should I had the option. She went to speak to her manager, Alicia which walked over with an attitude saying she will see what she can do. At this point I’m think they might new their $2 to pay there bills. I told the waitress to let it go and charge it. Alicia walks over and says NEXT TIME you know. Wow a manager talking down to a paying customer. What a great first and last experience. But not only does it stop there I called the next day to speak with John the manager and Alicia answers and HANGS UP on me. Let me also say that the food was horrible.

Google
Great traditional Mexican restaurant with some new flair! I had a cheese and onion enchilada with chili con carne to honor my late mother. It was one of her favorites and awesome

My favorite Mexican food. Can’t go wrong with the Nighthawk platter and a mango margarita.

Google
I usually don't give all 5 stars but tonight I am!! Had a mini reunion in the cantina, probably 20 of us and had a great time! The waitresses were amazing, food was perfect, couldn't ask for more.

Google
On the Main Street of America, Yes - my favorite street, the US Route 66 is El Rancho Grande! The lighting and decorations were almost perfect! Very nice servers and people especially so during the lunch hours. Food wise, I felt like the have somewhat tone down the flavors that I am used to and love. This is more like Tex-Mex to me!

Google
This is an amazing place I didn’t order an Entrée but got chips salsa and guacamole and white queso, it was amazing. The margaritas are incredible, heard from a friend that they were famous for their margaritas, 🙌 I had two 😂Thanks Brenda, you’re the best! I highly recommend this place great atmosphere for friends and food. Make sure you go upstairs to the cool bar great view of Tulsa on the patio. Get down here you guys you won’t regret it! Cool vibes!

Google
Got a chance to see their entire facility and was impressed with how clean it was. You could really tell the owners and staff care about what they do. The food was really good and the chips and salsa had a nice kick. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
Great service, we have eaten here several times, I ordered pollo chorizo dish it had chicken and chorizo sausage and cheese. It was my first time trying it as I usually get fish , very good. Other members of the my party got the "night hawk " dish and a burrito. Both of them said it was very good

Yelp
Great ambience! Prompt service! I really enjoyed the cheese and onion enchiladas with chili! I ordered the tomahawk since it was so highly recommended. We enjoyed the crunchy tacos and the fajitas We just happened to be visiting at the hospital across the street tonight and drove by this little place. So glad we found it!

Ralph D.

Yelp
We had their FireRoasted Shrimp Tacos this evening and first off they did NOT have LARGE shrimp in them as stated in the menu and the crema sauce on them was insanely hot which overpowered them. We literally thing there was only ONE shrimp cut up in small pieces on small flower tortillas with shredded cabbage and diced tomatoes! The pico de gallo on our plates had lettuce that was browning and really not very good. $14.25 for what I described is just not right. Food out has gotten more expensive yes, but as such needs to be very good. This wasn't. We've eaten here for years, but this might have been our last time. We left hungry and disappointed.

Yelp
We'd heard wonderful things about El Rancho Grande, so we tried it for lunch. It was outstanding! I loved the guacamole and salsa and thoroughly enjoyed the bean burrito with ranchera sauce. My husband raved about the chicken nachos! It has a great Mexican decor and our server was especially attentive.

Yelp
This is one of our favorite restaurants. Today we both got the cheese enchiladas with chile gravy. How Tex Mex can you get?
google avatar

Dan C.

Yelp
Hands down best Mexican food in Tulsa. Hector took excellent care of us with prompt, efficient service. We both got the tacos al carbon and both of us really liked them. This place has been a Tulsa landmark for decades. Decor is rustic Mexican. Only complaint is they were out of my favorite beer.

Yelp
Another year has passed and another great year of experiences here. The staff is always friendly and the food is always good. This restaurant has been a staple in this town for more years than i have been alive. Even after all this time this great place still brings in the customers. On a recent Saturday night i saw seniors who say this is still there favorite restaurant to young adults in there 20's who love coming here. My favorite dish and the famous staple here is the Night Hawk. This dish comes with 2 enchiladas and a cheese taco covered in chili con carne and chili con queso sauce. This place was and still is one of those must try places if ever in Tulsa

Yelp
Got my birthday postcard and couldn't wait to enjoy some yummy Mexican food! Of course we sat in our favorite servers area. We always ask for Fredericko because he's the best!!! They've been in Tulsa for over 70 years now and hopefully will be around for decades to come.
google avatar

Carissa G.

Yelp
I love this place! Coming from a south Texan, they have great salsa (it has spice!), the enchiladas are delicious with the chili con carne. I don't like how they don't have a la carte options like I just wanted two crunchy beef tacos and they only have the 3 taco plate for 13.99 - crazy price! It's worth getting one of their combo plates with multiple things to try.

Yelp
First trip here.. really glad we stopped in. I've always wanted to eat here. Finally, made it! Restaurant is in a great historic location. The ambiance is festive. We got greeted and seated immediately. I ordered the chicken enchilada plate. Added beans and rice, $1 extra... sweet tea is slappin' here!! They do offer adult beverages aka signature drinks, domestic beers and especial beers too!! My husband and kiddos enjoyed themselves. The food is flavorable-favorable. How could these Tulsa locals disappoint?!!

Yelp
I have been going to El Rancho Grande for so many years that I can't even count. Everything that I've ever had there was outstanding! The ambiance is very laid back & lovely too. I would highly recommend El Rancho Grande to anyone & everyone. *it's conveniently located on Rt66
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
My favorite Texmex. I usually get the Nighthawk with Rice and Beans. With a sweet tea. The wait staff is helpful and they work very hard. They are very nice and greet you as you as you walk in. And thank you as you leave. Service is great. It has that old style Mexican feel. Lots of great places to sit and no booths. The tables feel much more like a higher rate dining establishment at a very affordable price.

Yelp
Oh my goodness, it was my first visit here today with my family and I have to say that this place is gorgeous. Their food is excellent, too. Thank you & god bless!

Jim M.

Yelp
Good food for the most part, nice atmosphere but ordered several cheap items off the ala carte menu to keep costs down, which rancho beans were cold, and they charged me for a meal still with an extra on top that and tacked on a huge group tip, so ending paying $32 for items worth about $12. When confronted they would not adjust. Will not recommend to others! There are way too many other good Mexican restaurants around Tulsa that don't play that $ game they did on me!
google avatar

Diane L.

Yelp
Most authentic Tex-Mex cheese enchiladas I've found in Green Country. Exceptional service. Chips and salsa are excellent. Beef fajitas were served to a nearby table and the aroma was great.

Robert C.

Yelp
Still consider this place at the top of Mexican food. The cheese nachos can't be beat, the avocado salad with that dressing is a favorite. Cheese and onion enchiladas very good !
google avatar

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised! Service was excellent, food was good and the perfect margarita was top notch. The building is super old and really nice and well kept on historic Route 66.

Yelp
My birthday month and I received a card from El Rancho Grande for a BOGO free entree. We haven't been there in a few months so today we decided to get a late lunch around 2:30. Immediately greeted and shown to a table. I was surprised at how busy they were at this time. Federico brought us waters, chips and salsa. My partner ordered a Perfect Margarita ($9) and I got a draft Dos Equis Amber ($6.95). We each ordered the Grilled Tilapia which comes with a little Pico, a lot of rice and charro beans ($13.99). It was an excellent meal. We also got a regular Guacamole ($3.99). The chips were good. The salsa can sneak up on you. It was too spicy for my partner. She instead got another margarita. The tab for all this came to $49.95. I tipped Federico $15. He was the perfect server. Thanks for the free meal ERG. I've been coming here since my Jr. High Spanish class came in 1963. It is the first place I'd ever had a taste of Tex-Mex. Muy Bueno!

Yelp
Fredico was an excellent waiter. Greeters were on the ball. Drinks and food were excellent. Parking is perfect with easy exit to Utica. Located on historic Hwy 66.

Yelp
I've been wanting to come here for quite a while but more than often I would forget the name and the street where I'd saw it so trying to look up hadn't worked out for me. Well fortunately for me tonight I happened to pull into the QT right near the restaurant. As I made my turn I saw that wonderfully lit up sign and yes I was starving at this time yet I wasn't sure what time they closed. I hurried to park so that I could open Yelp and check. Woohoo, they were still open...I had a hour and fifteen minutes left til closing and I'm literally right next door...I'm not missing out on this opportunity!! I looked over the menu and decided to order the El Rancho Grande Dinner for pick up. When I picked up my order I walked in to a very quaint and beautiful restaurant. There were decorative stairs that lead up to a bar. I'll definitely be coming back for that adventure. I gave my name..Wow, I was not expecting to be handed such a large bag of goodies. There were two containers and a paper bag full of chips. The food is absolutely delicious and there was plenty to devour! I bet I will never forget the name nor the location of El Rancho Grande again!!

Yelp
The service is always great! The things that we have tried have been great Tex-Mex and taste fresh! The ambiance is just your typical Mexican restaurant. I love the Snoop dog statues though.

Michael R.

Yelp
I have been going to El Rancho Grande forever. I need to have some Chili Colorado at least a couple of times a month. I love to go to the Cantina for happy hour as well, they have really good margaritas and a good selection of Mexican beers. The view from the Cantina is great and the street tacos go well with happy hour. My sister stops in there to eat when she comes to town from San Antonio for a nice meal and she has taken to picking up a gift card for my birthday or Christmas while she's there. They have done such a wonderful job remodeling over the years, updating the menu and Salvador may have retired but the service is still always great.
google avatar

Jim L.

Yelp
We realize this place has history, and we have driven by it more times than we can count, but today we tried it out for the first time, and were pleasantly surprised! Momma had the street tacos, $9 for three but made with tender carne asada and served with cilantro, grilled onions, and lettuce, pico de gallo and limes. She really enjoyed them...I had Bobs burrito, stuffed with steak and covered in their Colorado sauce (tomato based with marinated pork and jalapeños) and avocado on top. It was delicious and filling! Chips and salsa, your choice of mild or a little heat. We polished off the bowl of salsa, and took the heat over the mild. Overall a nice experience. We'll be back to try something else on the menu...

Yelp
Tulsa classic. Should be on anyone's hit list. We were at the hospital for a birth and it was so close. I had to have it

Yelp
Loved our entrees and friendly staff (we appreciate it) . The bathrooms are very clean (cleanest we ever seen) . Don't know WHY this place is only a 3 star .. it should be at least a 4 but we give it a 5 plus . We will be back for sure

Mary O.

Yelp
My family has eaten here for many years. I know, they opened in the 50's, before I was born. My mom, and Ruby were friends. I stop in for lunch, with my brother and have used Uber eats for delivery. Sometimes, a family member will pick up an order for me. I stopped by this evening and ordered to go. I ordered Queso & chips and Nachos. The grease was unbelievable. I will not return. I can't believe the kitchen would even send that out.
google avatar

Melissa K.

Yelp
Went in for my birthday with my family. I had gotten my birthday card for my free entree like I do every year. I folded it in half then stuck in my wallet. my wallet wouldn't zip so I tore off the coupon portion and discarded my personal address info. Well here we are, I was told by the owner they were not going to honor it cause it didn't have my address. I offered to show my I'd with my address on my id but was declined again. when customer service is number one. that's obviously not the case here. sad. I didn't eat my meal and gave it to the husband to finish. I will also add this card can't be copied or used more than once cause they take it. It really shouldn't have been an issue. I won't go back. It was kinda weird after with the manager that had to go to the owner. She was nice and only caught in the middle.

Yelp
We had an amazing experience! The environment was welcoming and the staff was very friendly. We went during lunch and our waiter was very swift, knowledgeable and personable. Our food was delicious and they were very accommodating to some customizations we were wanting. All in all we had a great time and an even greater lunch.

Yelp
*** Review is during Covid-19 *** Even during the craziness of the pandemic, Rancho Grande continues to climb higher on my list of favorite Mexican/ tex mex in Tulsa. I've had it multiple times this past year (has this already been going on for a year? yikes.) and it remains consistently good. Even the takeout, which is what I've stuck to lately, is solid and I've never had problems with it. It's curbside pickup which is always nice and convenient. You pay ahead (like over the phone when you place your order). Then when you get there someone brings it to you and it's even more low contact than regular curbside because you've already paid. Workers are masked. I've been loving the chile colorado here! It has a nice kick to it, and I actually really enjoy the overall flavor and heat level. I like spicy food a lot, and this to me was just the right amount for this dish. Probably the best chile colorado I've ever had... though I'll admit it's not something I order frequently at other spots, so I've probably only had it from like 3 other places. Still, I really like it, and it's now my go-to order here!!! It comes with lots of the sauce (more sauce than there is meat to go with it), but I kind of like having extra sauce. A little bit more meat would have been nice, plus I don't think I got tortillas (though not sure if this has been every time or only the most recent and they forgot), which are usually included in these types of meals. Luckily it's pretty filling either way! As mentioned in previous reviews, they also have REALLY good salsa, which is huge for me. I've also tried their queso and guac... also great. And I think it's rare that all three are that good. So congrats for that!

Yelp
Best Mexican food in Oklahoma!! Amazing owners who really care about their customers. My brother held his engagement party upstairs - it was beautiful, fun and they kept the delicious margs flowing!

Yelp
This was the perfect gem we found while in Tulsa! Who knew it was a local tradition/favorite! We were on our way from the gathering place to the fairgrounds for the State Fair live concert. The salsa and street tacos were our favorite! The guacamole could have used a bit more lime and salt but everything else was full of flavor!! We will be back on our next trip to Tulsa!

Meagan S.

Yelp
The enchiladas were kinda hard and rubbery. Salsa was just meh. Service was good though.
google avatar

Richard D.

Yelp
Well, this is my first time here, I've been threatening to come here every time we go to Hillcrest downtown. Did not disappoint, especially the guacamole, probably the best guacamole I've had in years. I'll be back just for it
google avatar

Bruce E.

Yelp
I ate here almost 20 years ago and decided to return--good decision. This should be 4.5. Downstairs I dined in a tradition Mexican place and had enchiladas that had been slow cooked and packed with flavor, not your common roll them and pour a sauce on top. The tamale had just enough moisture and a flavorful Chile com carne covering it--Happiness. I want to return and try the margarita in the second floor bar . It has floor to ceiling windows and outdoor patio. I think they have happy hour specials upstairs also. It's not fancy but it is clean, efficient and delicious
google avatar

William G.

Yelp
All covid rules are being followed, great downtown location with plenty of parking. Greeted by a friendly gal who sat us and took our order, guacamole was delicious with the chips, 2 different heat level of salsa, tasty food , great atmosphere, really good experience, recommend

Wyatt M.

Yelp
The food and service were as outstanding as Meylan's sincerity. She made certain that everything was just right despite the restaurant being so busy. I had queso for an appetizer, then their shrimp with garlic sauce entree and it was as good as it was filling. I had nearly finished my meal before I realized I should have taken pictures. Try El Rancho Grande and you'll be glad you did!!! Wyatt M

Rob B.

Yelp
I like food here - it's good but not outstanding. The atmosphere is incredible - it's been in Tulsa before 1981 - at least that's the first time I went there. Service is good
google avatar

Jyl C.

Yelp
This place has been on a disappointment streak for me lately. Visited this past weekend with a couple of friends. The service was great, and I appreciate the expansion of the drink menu. However, the food just misses the mark fairly consistently. The white queso is good, and the chili verde sauce is good, but the pork in the verde sauce was minimal and tough. My friend ordered the Wet Fajita Burrito and the sauce was pretty much equivalent to nacho cheese sauce from a concession stand. Maybe it would have been better with the white queso? The beef fajitas were basic, not special, and I've not really been a fan of the chicken fajita meat either. There are just so many other Tulsa tex-mex options out there, this one probably won't continue to be in our rotation.

Savannah K.

Yelp
If you love a small authentic local place, this restaurant is for you! Amazing service and delicious fresh food and drinks! Fresh flour tortillas are out of this world!

Yelp
First time trying this place the Carne asada was sooo good ! Love it, service was great .

Yelp
3.5 if you please.... Location and ambiance: 4 (definitely) Food: 3 (solidly) We have always wanted to stop in here and since I had read about the recent remodel and rooftop area, it was on our "must-do" list. It's steps away from Soul City so after a cocktail and music listening, we wandered over to El Rancho Grande. We really loved the interior and the hostess and servers were quick, efficient and nice. The food was a little above average. We had the Night Hawk (cheese and onion enchiladas covered with chili con carne and cheddar; a soft cheddar cheese taco topped with queso) and the Wet Fajita Burrito (covered in queso). We ordered guac on the side (which was outstanding). Didn't try a margarita but will on return! Food was solid but nothing special. That won't keep us from revisiting and trying something different.

Yelp
1. Forced us to wear masks to enter. So I had to go back to the car and get one since they weren't offered. 2. Then when we sat down, they expected us to use our phones to scan the code and look at the menu. 3. But they don't have WiFi. 4. So I had to ask for menus which of course were paper. 5. We came during Happy Hour, so the margaritas we're supposed to be $6. Instead since we didn't sit in the bar area, it was almost $10. The nostalgia of Route 66 was wiped away by all this!

Zachary L.

Yelp
I've lived in the Tulsa area for the past 5 years and I wish I would've known about this place sooner. Absolutely the best Mexican food in the area. Salsa is on point and no one from our group was disappointed with a single item we had the pleasure of consuming. Well done El Rancho Grande!! You've got a repeat customer as long as I am in Tulsa.

Yelp
the waitresses are always amazing and the food is great if you feel like overpaying. i've always had good things to say about this but this last time i was there i ordered carne asade and they gave me the tiniest cut i've ever seen in my life. even the waitress was like that's small and i would talk to the manager. so i talked to the manager and she had a horrible attitude and talked to me like i was stupid. the waitress apologized and the food itself was fine just for $17 i would like more than steak three fingers in size. the manager's treatment of the situation completely turned me off from here. if that's the portion size they are giving out and that's how the manager treats customers i understand why everytime i go there it's more and more empty.

Yelp
I keep forgetting to check out the happy hour here so I was really excited when my husband and I went last week to see what it was all about. They have $4 margaritas and $6 perfect Margaritas from 4 to 7 Monday through Friday. They also have dollar street tacos and a handful of things on the menu that are half price. Their queso is great and the ground beef Street taco is pretty good but there really wasn't anything else only limited have price menu that I wanted. I would go there for chips and queso and a margarita but not to fill up for dinner. the bar upstairs is so nice and there is a great little patio that will be perfect come the spring!

Yelp
A Good Solid "Average" Mexican Restaurant Lunch 6/19/2019 There is no denying that El Rancho Grande is a Tulsa and Route 66 Icon. I have been eating here since the early 80's. The food and service have remained pretty constant over the years. Complementary chips and salsa come with the meal. They do not have a very hot salsa, but what they serve is good and had a little bite to it from the peppers. It was carne asada and the spinach enchiladas for us today. The skirt steak or flank steak used was juicy, tender and cooked to a perfect medium rare. The steak had been marinated and I really did not care for the flavors. I prefer the taste of good beef with a little salt and pepper and a flavorful char on the outside. It is just too bad the great beef flavor was covered up by odd taste of the seasoning. The meal came with charro beans and roasted corn. Both were good. The roasted corn was mixed with mild peppers and onions. It was a nice surprise and great change from rice. And, to round the meal out I ordered a chili toreado. The spinach enchiladas were packed with spinach and smothered with queso! They came with refried beans and rice. It was a plate full. It was really a lot of queso, but it was good for scooping up with the chips. It is a nice clean neatly decorated restaurant. The service was very good. I am transitioning from Tripadvisor to Yelp. I do have a lot of reviews for restaurants in eastern OK and western AR. Please check them out. Spike S spikes646

Yelp
Stopped in to eat Kutcher because the parking lot was full. I had the Cimichanga with rice and beans. It was so delicious. The chips and salsa were very good. The chips were hot and fresh.

Yelp
Holyyy cow. First off, the Californian burrito is HUGE and has french fries in it (not as many as I would have liked though). I've gotten the Californian burrito and a regular burrito from here - both with asada. The steak pieces are small and not the strips you'd expect from other places. The burritos, overall, weren't bad, but weren't the best I've ever had. You can get 2 different types of salsa on the side - green and red. Both have heat, but the red is a more smoky, mellow flavor and the green has a fresher, brighter taste. Service is kind of slow since they do make your order fresh. May or may not be cash only. Today, they lost the credit card reader, so bring cash just in case....
