16 Best Tacos Around D.C. | Eater DC

"The longstanding taqueria in Shaw expanded across state lines with an outpost in Ballston, complete with a 50-foot long bar and 10 different tacos on the menu. Those options include a “DC Taco” filled with panko-coated fried chicken breast strips, crispy potato frites, cilantro, and El Rey’s own mumbo sauce. Its biggest outpost to date recently debuted in Navy Yard with sprawling views of the Anacostia River and a terrific new taco menu." - Tierney Plumb

Nice little spot with great drinks and festive environment. It was crowded and there was a non-stop line. The DJ was awesome! Prepare to wait for a seat if you get there after 5:00. The food was inexpensive and so were the drinks.

If you like birria, this is your place. There are lots of menu options dedicated solely to birria. I had to try birria ramen just because of how unique it sounded. The portion was huge. It felt like a food challenge. Tasted great, too. It was spiced well. Service was friendly. Atmosphere was a bit more 'bar' than 'restaurant', if that's your vibe. I enjoyed my meal and overall experience.

Google
Shrimp fajitas-lacked flavor. Veggies should be cooked just a bit more. They were practically raw. This is my second review of this place. Waited over an hour for my food, finally asked for it to go. I believe my food had been ready and just sat there. It was warm and the cheese wasn’t melted or soft. I went last week and ordered tacos carnitas-all I got was a big chuck of fat. I’m done with this place.

El Rey was overall a 3/5 restaurant for me and my husband. We had went here to eat dinner and it was alright to say the least. The service and staff were okay. They took our order after waiting a little while and the food came out in decent timing. At the end, I had to walk to the front to pay for the bill. The staff’s lack of hospitality not just to our table but to the other tables was very evident. The food was also substantial as well. Nothing too crazy. The rice and beans were room temperature and the tacos had mozzarella cheese for the “cheesy” burrito and tacos, sort of disappointing. As for the atmosphere, the interior is vibrant and colorful but the DJ was a little too much. Overall, this is not a bad place to grab a quick bite but be wary.

First time ordering for take out I ordered 3 tacos asada tasted like it’s been there for days and overcooked, lengua taco was undercooked and tripa was so chewy couldn’t even swallow it looked like it was undercooked. Paid 19.21 and for the side of rice and beans wasn’t even a full spoon annd they don’t give no salsa, lime, utensils or chips. also you can’t even order with super loud music I had to tell my order like 5 times . Never coming back here. The Rey number one is the best spot to go but here is a no again. Sorry.

This is a small yet festive Mexican restaurant. The service is friendly and helpful. The decor is fun and colorful. We went on a Sunday night, which shares the weekly specials with Tuesday. So, we tried the tacos and margaritas on special. My chicken tacos were a bit bland, and I could not taste any tequila in the strawberry margarita. I did enjoy the cozy and fun atmosphere but was underwhelmed with the food and drinks. They serve a simple menu with plenty of drink options. This is a family-friendly restaurant that's affordable. You can feel comfortable dining solo or hanging out with friends here. There's limited parking. I would not bring a first date here. We were approached by a homeless man solicitating in the parking lot on our way out.

Google
Visited for Taco Tuesday, which is a great deal. We tried one of each taco included in the special. While fresh and substantial, we had to add extra hot sauce, lime, and salsa for more flavor. Margaritas were ok but i like to be able to taste a little bit of tequila, which we didn't. Service was very friendly though, and the place has a cute, hip vibe. Also, if you're a fish taco lover like me, El Rey #2 doesn't offer them. They do have shrimp tacos.

Google
Came on tacos and margarita Tuesday! Margaritas were great a day had several hood flavor choices. The homemade salsa is AMAZING and has just enough kick. Chicken quesadilla was also excellent even leftover. Regular tacos are also really good! I'll definitely be back when in the area but I'll try their VA Beach location next time.

Yelp
Stopped by during Happy Hour (4-6pm) on Friday and quickly snatched a table. Service was fast & nice. The location is in a small strip (which seems odd from the outside), but the interior is gorgeously decorated! Tried the raspberry and guava margaritas, which had a good amount of tequila. The pineapple specialty margarita looked amazing and I will be back to try that one! Chips were freshly made and the salsa had a small kick to it. Tried the Fiesta burrito and was not disappointed! The habanero sauce is VERY spicy which I appreciated. Lastly, the churros were amazing. I am not a huge fan of that dessert but these were delicious for the price and quantity. Paired really well with the raspberry sauce they gave us! Really authentic Mexican food and they seem to have a DJ on Saturdays.

Yelp
Came here for Taco Tuesday. I didn't know it gets soo packed there!! We waited about 45minutes. They have a time limit for tables on Tuesdays. The DJ was playing all the hits keeping the energy high. There's a small bar near the door as well a full bar in the back. There's bar in the front was very busy as those waiting for tables bought drinks while they waited. Once we got seated we were quickly greeted and chose the daily specials. The house salsa had a slight kick as well as the queso, which is great for someone like me who loves spicy!! I got 2 steak tacos and 1 carnitas. The meat was seasoned well and I loved the spicy salsa they had. Definitely will come back for my taco fix!!

Yelp
This was a really funky place with great vibes. The birria nachos were hands down the best nachos I have ever had in my life. Also loved the hibiscus tea (Jamaica drink on the menu). I will for sure be coming back.

Yelp
I have been here a few times - and can say my favorite item is their Shrimp and Birria tacos. But, that's not an item I care to pay for all the time. (Around 17$ for 3 tacos) Went around noon today and it was pretty quiet. As usual the restaurant inside is a cool vibe- bright- pretty paintings on the wall and unique ideas for the setting (sombreros on the ceiling). I ordered the Fiesta Burrito on the Special of the day for $10. Carne, chicken, rice, beans and grilled onions and bell peppers. Usually comes smothered with a Habanero sauce but I opted for it on the side (I don't like TOO MUCH heat). For the price is was pretty tasty. I am very glad I asked for the sauce on the side. It was VERY SPICY - But more spice than flavor. My daughter ordered the shrimp burrito. She was not completely impressed (we come from Cali and I cook a lot of Cali Mexican food and finding authentic Mexican food here has been rare) - overall she said it was decent but nothing special. No sauce to top it or

Yelp
Grabbed a quick bite with friends. We seated ourselves and drink orders were taken. None of my party ordered alcohol but they appear to be true to providing the tequila! Quite a few tables were enjoying margaritas. I found that this location has chicken birria and my friends ordered this leaving no crumbs after! I opted for something smaller but still delicious! The carne asada fries were very tasty and well seasoned. You'll enjoy this if you're looking for something light with a half order or more to share with a full order. The inside was decorated nicely, low lighting and huge margaritas if that's your thing! I'd say this could be a nice dinner date or drinks with friends.

Yelp
If you love authentic Mexican cuisine, El Rey 2 Tacos & Taqueria is a place that you should visit. They are conveniently located on Little Creek Road in the heart of Norfolk. The staff is friendly and helpful with menu questions and suggestions if you're on the fence about what to order. I especially enjoyed the tacos. I have evolved over the years away from Flour Tortillas to Corn Tortillas. I find them to be much more flavorful and they compliment the taco filling so much better. If you fancy yourself as someone who can handle the heat, be aware, this place is no joke. If you tell them "you like it hot" they will definitely step on the gas and "spice up your life." Whatever your preferences for heat, they have great flavor in all of their dishes. Check out El Rey 2, you can always thank me later...

Yelp
This place is NICELY decorated! From the lights to the murals to the menu, wow! Our waitress was so sweet and attentive. I had actually ordered pickup on Uber but decided to eat and have 5.50 Sunday Margaritas and our food came out soooo yummy!!! The margaritas here are insanely delicious especially for the price!

Yelp
I understand that this is supposed to be one of the best authentic Mexican restaurants in Hampton roads but I can honestly say I wasn't impressed. The drinks were meh and the food was just okay at best. This was my first time trying barria tacos and I don't get the hype. The menu looked pretty good though, so I would give it another try but I wouldn't have my hopes up if you get what I'm saying.

Yelp
The food is amazing and it's always packed so prepare to wait. Especially on Sundays and Tuesdays.

Yelp
This place is right one Little Creek Rd. It's in a small strip mall so parking a bit limited, but the sign makes it easy to find. My firmed and I stopped by on a Friday afternoon to celebrate the end of the week. The interior is beautifully decorated, and we were seated quickly. We ordered the birria plate for 2. I was supposed that it was served with sides of rice and beans. That was my favorite part to be honest. The birria was good, but we chose to add shrimp to our. We weren't fans of the shrimp, as it had been overcooked. I also ordered the habanero salsa to dip my tacos into. I'm a girl who likes her salsa, and this one reminded me a of a little taco shop from back home. It really packed a punch. To get my friend the full Mexican experience I wanted to treat her to a tres leches cake. This disappointed me a little. Having grown up with the coarse yellow cake that is sticky tradition being served mushy and jello like. I wasn't even sure if it was tres leches. We had to ask just in case. For the price, I wouldn't complain. Considering all the extras I got, and splitting the bill with my friend we payed a decent price. Overall I was satisfied, but am excited to see what other Mexican food restaurants there are in the area.

Yelp
Honestly? It was okay. I love Birria and got their birria pizza. I wish they used better cheese, like a queso or crema Fresca or something. Instead they used mozzarella of all things. I get it fits into the whole "pizza vibe", but I wish it were better. The consomé was eh. It could've used some lime. I will say I do love their quesadilla burrito so no complaints there. But I don't recommend getting birria from them. If you're looking for a good birria place, try Agave Azul

Yelp
Decided to go try this place out for a taco Tuesday night and it was packed. I got there around 7 PM and they said it was going to be approximately 45 minutes for a table for two but it ended up only taking 10 minutes which was really nice. The inside was absolutely gorgeous definitely very Instagrammable as other have said because there were lights everywhere and the ceiling was filled with sombreros! Would definitely come back for the ambience! Service was average because they put us at a table in the corner and seemed to kind of forget about us, especially towards the end when we were done eating no one really showed up for almost 20 minutes asking us if we were okay and we had to ask multiple times for a to go box but the waiters and waitresses were still very nice people. As for the food, we ordered shrimp and chicken birris tacos as well as some of their $2.50 tacos. Definitely make sure you ask for their homemade hot sauces because those were absolutely amazing with the tacos. My mouth was definitely on fire in a good way! The birria tacos were amazing and the two $50 tacos for taco Tuesday were pretty good for the price. I wish they had other broth options for the birria since I do not eat beef or pork and would have loved an alternate dip for my birria tacos! Parking was convenient because there was a lot of space both in front and on the sides of the complex. Definitely worth coming here at least once and deciding for yourself how much you love the tacos too!

Yelp
I came here on a Wednesday for a late lunch. I was greeted as soon as I walked inside. I asked the server for a recommendation and she recommended the birria tacos. My order came with chips, salsa, rice, refried beans and three tacos. Everything was delicious. I will definitely be returning.

Yelp
I've been hitting this place up for a long time. Honestly since I went to Norfolk State and they would promote coming here for events. I've known since then why. Foods bomb. And honestly? At prices like this who can blame me for getting 4 tacos of varying protein and finishing it all before the refill on chips is back. When I go here, I'm usually a To go guy. Get my food quick and go home and enjoy it with maybe a movie because they have these baskets that can feed a family of 4 honestly..... but I ain't gone lie..... I've eaten it with two people and died from happiness then came back and ate some more. I recommend this place to anyone who wants cheap food and drinks as well as good food. OH! And the place looks really nice too. Like they've done a lot of work so it's cozy and fun to look at. You know everyone gotta have a grass wall for flicks nowadays. But nonetheless? A vibe.

Yelp
What a great hidden gem! Finally made it to this spot. Great vibe and it was packed on a Friday night. All the servers were very attentive. We ordered drinks, Hennessy Margarita and a Classic Margarita, both great and huge. Good we had the carne asada fries (AMAZING) , surf and turf tacos, and carne asada tacos. All the food was fresh and very good! But it was the carne asada fries for me! We also had house tequila shots. Overall I'd definitely go back and WILL get the fries every time LoL. Check them out, cute decor for pictures also.

Yelp
After randomly looking for a taco spot in Norfolk I came across this place. A quaint space that's easy to miss if you're not paying attention, we were able to get a seat right away. The service could have been better. While our waitress was cordial, it was confusing on whether we were supposed to order from the table or the register because it took so long for her to come over. No communication or "ill be with you in a sec", we just sat there waiting. Even after we ordered, it was about 15 mins for the food to arrive. We ordered the birria tacos, frijoles, and a quesadilla. No complaints on the food at all, we definitely enjoyed what we had and it would recommend ordering all of it. Be forewarned though, the birria tacos are a popular item and if you go later in the day they may be out.

Yelp
Food 3.5 Service: 3 Ambiance: 4 Very Instagramable /Tiktoky but the food was mid. My brirra meat was dry. The service was average. At one point I had to ask for water and someone finally brought some but I was almost finished with my meal. We found this place because of a Tiktok and happy hour seemed to be ok but I wouldn't come back for dinner.

Yelp
Stopped in this location today for a quick lunch. I'd never been here but I'd heard good things. Arriving we were promptly greeted and sat and within a minute or less we had waters. I decided to try the three street tacos and selected three kinds - al pastor, steak and pork. They were all delicious and the whole time I was eating them I kept taking in the restaurants decorations and how colorful the place was even in the daytime. I highly recommend the street tacos I don't think you can go wrong and it comes with beans and rice. A lot of places want you to pick one or the other but I appreciated both were included. They do have daily specials you'll have to check out. One I do remember reading was they have 10 percent off on Mondays for military, veterans and retired military. Next time I come back it will have to be after work as their selection of margaritas sounds awesome and tasty. I would say the only negative is the parking outside but I think it is worth the walk if you can't find a close spot in the lot.

Yelp
This is a great spot for tacos and other Mexican fare, like elote, tortas, and burritos. I really enjoyed an outing here with my boyfriend and his sister. It is located in a strip mall off of a busy road, and is pretty unseemly, but you will find some great eats here! The service is just okay and they seemed pretty tired. My boyfriend's sister was complimenting her outfit and trying to be nice and she just looked at her and walked away. I loved the food, though, and everything had great prices. The interior of the place is also cute and colorful. I ordered 3 shrimp tacos and an elote, with a side of sour cream. We all shared a cheese dip. Everything was scrumptious! I really like their queso. It was hot and spicy. My shrimp were definitely fresh and cooked perfectly. The tortillas were homemade and delicious. The side of sour cream was pretty tiny but it was only 75 cents. I enjoyed the elote with added chili powder. It was delicious. My boyfriend and his sister each got an El Rey burrito and shared a carne asada fries. The El Rey Burrito is smothered in queso and full of steak, beans, cheese and veggies. Looked delicious and they enjoyed every bite. I picked off the Carne Asada fries and they were so yummy. Everyone was exclaiming how good they were. I'd love to come back here ! The menu is sort of small, but they know what they're doing with what they do have!

Yelp
food so amazing 10/10 service need some work but they were sweet the ambience was out of this world. and i will be back

Yelp
First off- I must mention the decor! How fun! Sombreros & lights on the ceiling. They really went above and beyond to make it a fun place. They have a decent happy hour & different food specials each day! I went here with my aunt, cousin, & her 3 kids. It's a good place for kids if it isn't busy. My aunt & I both had the El Rey burrito which was good. My meat was too fatty for my taste but overall it was a good size. My cousin got some tacos to try, & got her children the Papusas. Drink wise we tried both margaritas & the horchata which were good. Just an fyi - this is a you go to the bar to pay place, no one told us but we put the pieces together after we finally saw a sign & no one was coming to us lol. If you come here check to see if they still have the 10% off code for check in!!!!!

Yelp
Updating from my last review... I have been here probably more than eight times. Every time was OK. The drinks are always really good and the service is usually nice. I do really like the workers. They always seem to be in a good mood. the only times I've ever had any serious issues was once when I picked up an order that they never seemed to get submitted through online.. and I submitted it 30 minutes before getting there, and I just had to wait. This time we ordered through Grubhub because there was a coupon. We wanted to try the Birria burrito. I was honestly not very impressed. It kinda looked like a little sandwich burrito. Lol. Not expensive but pretty much just filled with rice and beans and a little bit of the Birria meat.. The food usually lacks seasoning but I just added some salt and that was good. we got the chips and yellow queso cheese, I don't really recommend the yellow cheese. Next time I am going back to the white, which is really good. We also got grill tacos, which were OK, just not very well seasoned. And lastly, I asked for a couple green and a couple red salsa's and we ended up only getting hot sauce, so I was a little disappointed with that because I love salsa on all of my Mexican food . Anyway, I will still go again, but I hope next time is better .

Yelp
The "instagram" worthy place to go for some good drinks, is the best way to describe my experience. I have been here twice after the remodel and I can definitely say that the authenticity of the food has changed since its hole in the wall days. The first time I came (post remodel) they didn't have my first option, pozole, they also didn't have barbacoa or tripas, so I settled for Al pastor sopes. The Al pastor was not seasoned well and a little dry. The drinks however, were good. The second time I came (post remodel) was a little better, I went with what's trending now, which is the birria and I had the birria queso tacos. They were pretty decent, the consomé made them less dry but also very flavorful. It wasn't over salty like other places and I was able to enjoy them, again the drinks were good, personally prefer any of their margaritas made with Don Julio, you can't go wrong. In all the tik tok and Instagram videos the montages made the place look bigger than what it seems, know If you have party of 10 or larger you will more than likely be taking up the whole place. Cute establishment, great drinks, but not MY idea of authentic. My favorite part of this place is definitely the murals.
google avatar

Nakita C.

Yelp
So we had 2 shrimp, barbacoa, carne asada, lengua, and tripa tacos with a queso, half on corn half on flour tortillas. When they say everything on the taco they mean lettuce, tomato, onion, and cilantro be mindful. The shrimp tacos were decent, would for sure be better in a quesadilla. (Will try that next time) Barbacoa, lengua, and tripa had no seasoning at all, not even salt. The asada was season well. The queso is a white queso and good, I would get that again. The atmosphere was pretty cool, awesome art, and lots of lights. The service was spectacular, they are on top of everything there for sure. They were sadly out of street corn and birria, but we will for sure go back to try them again. He did say the birria is a six hour process and made in-home fresh daily, so excited to see how that shows out.
google avatar

Julio H.

Yelp
Sad to say but I found tin foil in my beens. This is very unfortunate because the food tasted fine. There are plenty of restaurants that are competing for costumers that making a mistake, although not deliberate but a mistake nonetheless, will lose a customers. I don't go to restaurants for the ambience I go for the food, and they missed the mark with food safety.
google avatar

Trey B.

Yelp
This place will definitely be added to our rotation! The ingredients that the tacos were made with were fresh and well-seasoned. Service was great and the food came out quickly. Looking forward to our next visit!
google avatar

Vanessa S.

Yelp
The food was good. Just good. It wasn't great but it did the job. The pupusas were great. The service was good. Love the decor. The tacos didn't have a lot of juice or flavor. However, I will say that the happy hour menu has great value and choices. The margaritas were also absolutely amazing.
google avatar

Emma W.

Yelp
The food is always delicious here, there is a large menu with a ton of tacos as well as other classic dishes. My favorite is their happy hour specials and cocktails. The service is always extra friendly and I've never waited long for my meal. The ambiance is a lot of fun with music and colorful lights/murals. I've been back several times to enjoy this hidden gem!
google avatar

Tae B.

Yelp
We came on a Sunday after craving tacos the night before too late that nothing was open. They have the same Tuesday specials on Sunday. That made things even more interesting. Everything we had was delicious. And spicy means spicy! The decor is very unique and colorful. The wait staff are very patient and fast. You could find the bartender waiting tables, ringing people up, and making drinks.
google avatar

Logical N.

Yelp
Steak torta was a huge half loaf of bread with very little meat. The meat was more like a relish and got lost in the other flavors. Don't think the bread was correct as it wasn't like tortas I've had on the west coast or other places in Va.

Olive K.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere of this place. Food is solid, love the birria. Service is good and attentive.
google avatar

Virginia R.

Yelp
I found this gem on Instagram and had to check it out. It is the most delicious food I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. It's authentic and everything is homemade. The service was great and you can't beat the price. The dining area was so lit with beautiful decorations and artwork. I'm definitely going back

Yelp
This has been one of my favorite taco places for probably about a year. The staff is incredible friendly and the food is to die for. If this was my last meal I'd die happy. Their Birria tacos/quesadillas/burritos are all bangin'. The restaurant itself is very cute, all of the decor keeps my kids occupied (thank you). This place is so good that round about 20 of my nearest and dearest friends gathered with me after my wedding to enjoy some margaritas and Mexican food. I called ahead of time, the owner was amazing. They set up a huge table for us... who'd have known I liked that many people lol. On top of being incredibly accommodating the owner also bought us cupcake as a thank you/wedding gift. I cannot recommend El Rey 2 Tacos and Tequila enough. We'll be back! *When the food truck opens up I'll need you guys to park it outside of my job on Wednesdays!!
google avatar

Chloe L.

Yelp
Not the best tacos. I gave 1 star for alot of meat in the tacos. The sauces are so plain. Tortillas are too thick. I waited for 2 hours to get my foos. I asked for limes before I ate. They brought it when I finished everything! Never come back
google avatar

Tess H.

Yelp
Delicious food, but I wish I could've gotten the birria tacos a la carte instead of only as 3. Also wish that the birria meal came with beans and rice instead of having to order separately. Service was friendly and restaurant ambiance was fun and probably is great for a Friday night - we came on a Monday so it was pretty calm.
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
El Rey 2 is located in an unassuming plaza off Little Creek road. But inside, it has the fun, laid back vibe of a casual taco joint. Our friends made reservations here for a birthday dinner, and they were easily able to accommodate our party of 12. Given that we came on a Saturday evening, I was somewhat disappointed to find that they ran out of a few staple menu items, but given the plentiful options, we were disappointed. Since we missed happy hour, we skipped the drinks and went straight for the food. I ordered a chicken taco (which was dry) and carne asada taco (which was juicy and flavorful). They were pretty standard but did the job. My husband ordered the special, which that evening happened to be surf n turf cheesy birria tacos. Those were fantastic, served alongside a flavorful consommé. Given the plethora of other menu items, I would certainly return and try something new!
google avatar

Ashley E.

Yelp
This place is a whole vibe! If you were to drive past the location on a random day you would be missing out on a hidden gem! Whoever was in charge of the decor, did their thing! The customer service was on point- everyone was friendly and attentive and I really appreciate good customer service. We ordered: The queso - bangin! The chicken birria tacos - bangin! The Fiesta Burrito-bangin! & two margaritas on happy hour, and do I need to say it?- bangin! I would definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
got here a whole hour before closing (i understand it's inconvenient but they're open until said hour ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) with the hope of at least getting takeout but the door was locked and the chairs inside were already on the table with the workers standing there watching me walk away they should update their hours or add a sign if they're closing that early
google avatar

Yelp
I'm not sure why the reviews are so low. This is the best Latin food I've had in a long time. Get the birria tacos and the queso. The salsa and chips were also so fresh and homemade. Cannot wait to bring everyone I know here.

Jesse L.

Yelp
Food: 3/10. presentation: 10/10 Margaritas were simple syrup, store bought margarita mix and a splash of tequila. Atmosphere was fun, prob the best thing about the place. Ordered cheesy birria shrimp tacos platter for two, did not come on a platter and also came missing the shrimp. Server would not remake tacos for us and only would offer a side of shrimp. So we were forced to wait 10 mins while our food got cold for the missing shrimp. Birria was disappointingly dry, almost hard to eat dry. Overrated for the very expensive prices.. go elsewhere

Yelp
I enjoy coming to this restaurant. I'm originally from California, so trying to find a good Mexican place in Virginia has been difficult for me. I'm in love with their birria dishes and habanero mango chicken wings. It's always pretty busy, but that's expected with places that have good food. The staff have always been friendly and attentive. I definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Yelp
First time at the restaurant on May 5th to Celebrate!! It was festive!! The wait staff was friendly and all pretty nice!! Like even for it so busy due to the holiday from the host to the bar it was great vibes!!! It was a hour and 40 for a table of 4. And we were able to snag seat at the bar it we were all good!!! Chips and salsa was decent. Didn't except hot chips so it's whatever. Then the drinks were on point. We got strawberry, pineapple, mango margaritas all good. The mango margarita was heavy in syrup only problem. The people drunk sold the restaurant out of CASAMIGOS lol!!!! The food was delicious.. the tacos were full.. the food season.

Yelp
This restaurant has nightclub vibes. There are sombreros on the ceiling and party lights illuminating the path to the restrooms. I had the fiesta burrito and my friend had beef tacos. We added a side of queso to the complimentary chips and salsa. The fiesta burrito has steak, chicken, cheese, bell peppers, jalapeños, beans and rice. The server suggested I get the habanero sauce on the side if I don't like spicy foods and he was right to do so! The habanero sauce is fire in liquid form. You have been warned. Service was great, the food is good, and prices are fair. The only thing we didn't like was smelling like the restaurant when we walked out.

Yelp
What a fun and surprising atmosphere to walk into! The staff have always been really accommodating as my husband sometimes has strange requests but they always come through. I think their tacos are the thing to get here. I wasn't crazy about the quesadilla. The El Rey Burrito is super tasty as are their nachos.

Yelp
This place always hit right 2 years ago. We have been loyal customers but it has fallen off slowly to the point of writing this review. Tonight we ordered for pick up. Got the food home and honestly I'd rather have had Taco Bell. (I'm 40 plus and do not eat Taco Bell!) All three meals that were ordered were as if this ginger country boy made it himself. I'm unsure how a bunch of steak amidst a sea of peppers and onions (fajitas) could taste so bland. It was as if my Italian mother in law tried to make fajitas. We ordered Queso and chips and ended up with some sort of weird cheese flavored water. (Never seen that before). The tacos were that of an old Ortega commercial with some Bobo Food Lion cheddar and somehow they managed to make a simple cheese quesadilla taste like literally nothing. The best part of the meal was some Margs to go. Such a shame because I used to recommend this place very highly. Unsure what happened in the last two years but it has fallen off to the point of writing a poor review and seriously unlikely to return at this point. That sucks. Loved it a few years ago.

Yelp
Great food, attentive service and nice atmosphere. Chips were fresh & hot, the tacos are fantastic and the tortillas are fresh and so much better than the typical corn tortillas

Yelp
I tried Pupusas for the first time , so so delicious. The bartender was so cool, and I tried her custom black margarita just in time for halloween. It was so good , especially with the pop rock candy
