Hands down the best torta I’ve ever had! The portions are huge—easily enough for two. They also have an awesome salsa bar and really tasty beans. Can’t wait to come back!

Google
HOLY MOLLY! My family & I came here on a wild whim looking for breakfast burritos. THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! Great spot, the food was amazing, the salsas were outstanding, service was quick & friendly. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito with chorizo (wish I had taken a picture sooner, my bad 😬) and was full half way there (and I only had ½ of the burrito bc I shared with my son). Do NOT sleep on this spot! 💕 SIMPLY AMAZING.

Narayanan R.

Google
El Rey serves great Mexican food at a reasonable price. They have delicious tacos, burritos and breakfast dishes. They also have freshly made smoothies. Their salsa bar has at least 7 different kinds of salsas each made on premises. Their staff are very friendly and helpful.

Google
They don't follow directions if you ask no onions or no tomatoes they still put the onions and tomatoes and if you ask for gen an new one with your kids dont like they get mad and give you actitud dont get guava or any other natural drink overpriced and the quality its not good my guava taste like the product was rotten

I can't believe I've waited so long to finally come and try this place. I've always driven passed it and thought I should go, but never made it happen until this weekend. So stoked to finally try it and mad at myself for waiting so long. All the wasted time. Anyways, got the al pastor burrito and it rocked. Salsa bar is on point and cup for beans. Everything was delicious.

Google
First time at this location, the food was amazing. I did complete the 4 pound burrito challenge that was my main purpose of going. Definitely, will be going back to try other menu items fyI The burrito was not just for show, it was very good. Also, they have a salsa bar. With lots of options to choose from.

Google
So... My taco guy cancels day of the party. What to do? I pop on in to El Rey on a Saturday at 2pm. They have enough food cooked for 80 people by 2:45! Everybody at the party loved the food. I cannot thank these people enough. They saved my party!

TheDuoBros

Google
Food is ridiculously expensive. Taste is good, did not disappoint but for a taqueria in chino. They got to work on the pricing. Will not be coming back, go in and ask for menu to see for yourself.

Yelp
I've been driving past El Rey in my hometown of Chino forever and finally stopped in--wow, I've been missing out! This place is a gem for authentic Mexican food with a casual, welcoming vibe and friendly, quick service. We shared a massive 2-pound carne asada torta loaded with everything, and it was an absolute flavor bomb--juicy, perfectly seasoned, and delicious to the last bite. The food quality is easily 5 stars, but at ~$20 for a torta or burrito, the price docks it to a 4-star rating. The self-service salsa bar is a standout with tons of fresh, zesty options, and the complimentary beans were a nice bonus. For thrill-seekers, they have a 4-pound burrito challenge--finish it in one sitting, and it's free with your photo on the "Wall of Victory" (hilarious "Wall of Shame" mix-up!). El Rey is now my favorite Mexican spot in Chino for its unbeatable flavor and quality. Perfect for anyone craving hearty, authentic eats. I'm already planning my next visit--don't sleep on this place like I did!

Chris S.

Yelp
The review stays 5 stars to date. Come on, guys, if you want $4.50 for the big cup of salsa, make it clear. I come here for the beautiful girls, the food and the salsa. I don't come here to be scolded by some chiona about cost. If we're textbook, serve the whole menu by 7am, otherwise I feel cheated.

Yelp
The tacos de asada, cabeza and tripas are so good. The agua de tamarindo and horchata are pretty good too. Salsa bar has a lot of sides including green red and another red salsa (maybe tomate based) not sure but they are all so good and spicy which I love . I love the beans I believe they are frijoles puercos! I will need to try the chicharron tacos next .

Yelp
This Mexican fast food / sit down restaurant has been around forever. They have so much varieties to choose from . A lot of drinks and smoothies . I always go here with my friends . They always be playing soccer and all the flag teams. I really appreciate the staff and how nice they are here .
google avatar

Yelp
Soooo good every-time ! No complaints Maybe a wait , but the wait is worth it ! Even Introduced it to friends that were out of town and they loved it !

Smooth Line T.

Yelp
I should have known better when I entered the parking lot and restaurant. THE WORST MEXICAN FOOD EVER!! $16.30 soggy flautas which were the size of taquitos, 2 teaspoons of rice and soupy beans No flavor. ITHREW IT AWAY, LEFT STILL HUNGRY. My fault for staying in an unsanitary restaurant. NEVER AGAIN.

Vicky R.

Yelp
Always delicious! 10/10 They pack your tacos with meat and no meat fat which for my liking is a bonus! I'll make the little drive just to eat here!
google avatar

Yelp
OMG - on the drive back from Vegas, I stopped by this hole-in-the-wall. The carne asada burritos were so full of flavor and stuffed. This $10 burrito was HUGE - we had it for two meals. The salsa bar was the best - a large variety of salsas that individually tastes so good. Wish that it wasn't so far from us, but maybe it's a good thing so I am not eating this all the time!
google avatar

Ernie B.

Yelp
Huge and delicious tortas! One can easily share a torta . For the price, you are basically getting 2 tortas. They stuff them with tasty meats beans cheese and salsa. The salsa bar has many options for those who like mild to hot. Great customer service as well.

Sergio N.

Yelp
Amazing burritos food is always on points the fruit juices are fire as well. I been coming here for years and always taste fire

mario d.

Yelp
I've been waiting for over half hour for my food and noting if I could give zero stars I would my food was ordered at 306pm 7/27/25 It's already 340 pm worst wait time ever
google avatar

Ann Y.

Yelp
HUGE SALSA BAR SELECTION The burritos here are big and delicious! We like their many selection of salsa hot sauce and condiments. Super spicy FYI It got busy during lunch I would recommend ordering ahead if you're doing a pickup.
google avatar

Barbara M.

Yelp
I can only speak to the asada tacos and chips, but both are perfection. The self serve toppings and salsas are convenient and the area is kept clean. They're usually pretty busy, so I can't ever just pop in for a quick meal pick up, but the wait is worth it.
google avatar

Eddie D.

Yelp
The amount of food that was served is a lot and it is very filling. It is definitely enough to eat there and save the rest for later or even share between 2 people. The torta was really good. Would definitely go back
google avatar

Rachel I.

Yelp
I'm seriously disappoint to whoever gave anything less then 5 stars for this restaurant ! My first time here and I'm so glad I came and tried it out. The quality of food over passes the quantity and reasonable prices !! Great service Quality ingredients Large menu We ordered the Chilaquiles , which was a generous amount with rice, beans, cheese, eggs and extra chips on the side and some amazing salsas that I have ever tasted !! Taste very much homemade, like your loving grandma cooked all morning just for you!! I highly recommend trying this place. Can't wait to come back and have their tortas!
google avatar

David G.

Yelp
Food is always good. Anytime I'm in the area I stop by. I love the free beans and salsas. You pay a little more than other spots but worth it.
google avatar

Travieso M.

Yelp
Hands down the best torta and burritos in the Inland Empire!! Walked in very friendly people greeted me, ordered a carne asada torta was made fast. The salsa bar is clutch. I tore it up. Chill place with low music and a tv to watch sports. I recommend El Rey!
google avatar

Kenny G.

Yelp
Came here for the first time and got a tostada/taco salad. The portion was huge but more importantly the taste was amazing. Definitely making this my go to spot for Mexican food.
google avatar

Yvonne G.

Yelp
I will start by saying that the food has always been good. My problem is the price you pay by pound and what you actually get. $40 per pound. It comes with rice, beans, tortillas, chips and salsa. But come on, I'm getting less and less each time I go for the price. I understand prices have gone up everywhere, but I used to get more for less. I hate to say it but I won't go back again. Even the cups for the salsa are smaller. The rice and beans were barely enough for two people. You'd have to pay $80 to feed a family of 4. Ridiculous.
google avatar

Mario Y.

Yelp
They told me in the past that the only thing they cook with lard was the fried beans, everything else is with virgin olive oil. I always ask restaurants over again, when I can just to make sure. This time they told me they cook everything with lard. I didn't know what to think. I was mad because of the past times, and was thankful for them telling me what I'm just going to assume is the truth. I tell restaurants I have an allergy to pig, and I still get restaurants unsure, unserious, and untrustworthy, untruthful

Yelp
QUE BUENO QUE ABOFETEARAS A TU EX- MARIDO Y A SU NUEVA ESPOSA! Best Tortas in town!!! I stepped foot in El Rey in 2013 and have been a loyal customer since! Today one of my favorite vendors, brought in lunch from El Rey. ¡Besos de Lil Rob! I was so excited!!! Thier tortas are the size of a new born baby! Their pickled onions, hot carrots & jalapeños are my favorite condiments that they make on site (not canned)! While today's lunch was delivered, El Rey did not forget to include them with the meal. Gracias El Rey! If you go in the restaurant expect to be slapped with delicious aroma of all the meats being grilled! While you wait, you can fill your panza with fresh frijoles in pot next to the salsa bar! Back to my review of the tortas (see photos). They're filled with meat as juicy as a novela! The variety of tortas was amazing! These aren't your typical tortas, they have special ones like the Cubano (one of my favorites), Americano, El Rey and codiciada (that's what I had today)! I'm still on my stupid weight loss journey, so I only ate half of my torta, which was and always is enough to fill me up. The tortas are so good, I usually will eat a whole one despite being full, hence the weight loss journey! ¡HOY NO SATANAS! GRACIAS, El Rey! ~Elaine

Yelp

Yelp
Went around 7pm, Thursday October, 3rd Food was good but won't be back. Two main reasons: 1) restaurant was dirty and most of the ladies working there were just standing around when we got there. They were in their own chisme while we were ordering. We also had to clean our own table. 2) No aguas frescas available at 7pm? None? They only had horchata and Jamaica.
google avatar

Yelp
The sizes of most food items are big and so are their prices, but aren't most places like this nowadays? A few things I do want to compliment this Mexican restaurant is that they have a complimentary self-service condiment bar that's available to their customers. With things such as cilantro, onions, salsas of varied spice levels, radishes(king taco greatly lacks in this department), etc. This is a rarity in today's post-pandemic world. And I'm all here for it. The service is a hit or miss. Mostly a miss. The customer service energy is flat and mostly unwelcoming as if it's a bother that you're purchasing their food. Let me be clear that this lack of joyful service derives from the front-of-house operation(typically cashiers and juice makers). The cooks pour great energy and enthusiasm into their work (aka delicious food). I do want to make an observational point that I can most certainly guess that the owners of this establishment might like the Mexican soccer team 'America.' Just food for thought so don't be surprised.

Greg L.

Yelp
Not sure why they have a fairly low rating, in my opinion this is one of the best Mexican food places around. They have great salsa options that are all homemade as well as a pot of beans. They use high-quality Carne Asada so the meat is tender and good with minimal fat.

Yelp
My new fave taco spot ! When I 1st came I was shocked on how expensive everything looked on the menu like $4.15 each taco but after u get ur food u realize how much food they give u and why it cost so much. For example 1 taco here is the equivalent of 2-3 street tacos. Here they use 2 Big tortillas u have at home. Not to mention the amount of meat they put is crazy. Their salsa bar is a huge plus 3 different red salsa and 3 different green ones all different spice levels & taste. The workers are super friendly always Greats you. Small hole in the wall but clean inside& out. I came here 3 times in 2 days with the wife and kids that's how good it was . If I had to say something bad about this pace is they don't have a soda machine or free refills . The next bad thing is if u know anything about Mexican soccer and know the teams my dad hates Club America and this owner is a huge huge CA fan the entire inside and out is all America stuff lol we are from Leon GTO so that's my team I root for. But I'm here for the food not to play or argue soccer. Must try spot

Yelp
It's certainly gone downhill over the years. The prices are significantly higher than similar restaurants of similar quality in the area, and it kind of feels like they are just taking advantages of their customers at this point, or at least families of comelónes who each order a separate torta. The tortas are massive and taste amazing, and one is honestly enough for two people. I would advise anyone coming here to try a torta and split it with one other person. Their charro beans are free, unlimited, and taste incredible and are a good supplement to the high-end, luxury-priced food on the menu. One last note is that the service leaves much to be desired. If they get your order wrong, they will blame you and make sure that you personally feel bad about it. I have had this happen to me before and it's clear to me from other reviews that this is a common experience sadly.

Marvel D.

Yelp
Got 3 burritos and asada fries, asada burrito was a 5/10, pastor burrito was a 7/10, asada fries were a 3/10 didn't really have flavor, the salsa don't really have flavor either, spent 61 bucks for no flavor

Yelp
The average Yelp rating for this place is 3.5 stars and mostly complaining of rude/bad service. Yikes! HOWEVER, I was in the area and my trusted Yelp pal Pancho V. gave El Rey - 5stars, so I had to check this little hole-in-the-wall out...the food here is GREAT and the restaurant itself is very CLEAN; at least during my visit. My favorites: Chile Verde plate ($10.99) - Nicely seared tender pork pieces simmered in green peppers and spices. Balance flavors with little heat...and lard? It's very rich and heavy, but sooo delicious! Served with rice and beans, including regular corn tortillas or handmade corn tortillas. Excellent! Carnitas tacos ($3.14) - flavorful pork shoulder with some crispy parts and succulent moist parts. It's a very meat heavy taco. Very good. Al Pastor ($3.14) - Cooked on a vertical spit (no pineapple). Nice char and flavorful. Alot of meat. Very good. Beef Lengua ($3.14) - Soft/tender and flavorful. Again, alot of meat for 3bucks. Very good. Salsas - All were excellent. Flavorful and fresh. The roasted green and red were my favorites - not the spicy side. There is a mild avocado green and blended pico de gallo as well for non-spicy eaters. Not my favorite : Carne Asada tacos ($3.14) - Not bad. It was flavorful, but way overcooked sliced in bigger strips; kind of chewy. Just ok. Overall, I recommend El Rey. The food is great and the price is right. I didn't have a problem with service. They were very nice. I hope to come back again soon.

Yelp
Went there today and had a bad experience. i got a pound of carne asada and asked for a cup for some beans. one of the ladies was going to hand me a cup and a heavy set lady with a really crappy attitude that didn't speak english that well snatched the cup and made a huge deal about me getting it. she expected me to fill a whole bunch of little tiny cups with beans. salsa cups. avoid her at all cost
google avatar

Isaac K.

Yelp
I want to start off by saying the food is amazing. Service is outstanding. However, i had to pick through my sandwich to pull out all the tiny aluminum bits that got cut into it. Please stop using serrated knives to cut your sandwhich or stop wrapping it in foil.

Lisa B.

Yelp
I ordered a carne asada torta. It's enough for 2 people. The chili sauce condiment bar has multiple choices of salsas for every level of spice. Also, you can serve yourself a little bowl of whole beans. I also tried the agua Fresca, which I definitely recommend as there are multiple flavors. Very fast and efficient service.
google avatar

Juanita R.

Yelp
I love this place. I've been here a couple different times with my family and have loved everything I got. Super tasty and filling, especially the tortas! The carne asada fries have a fantastic amount of toppings and the meat tastes great and has a texture to match. The biónicos have fresh, sweet fruit and the horchata is perfect. Really, no disappointments here.
google avatar

Sandra S.

Yelp
I think this place deserves 4&1/2 stars because everything was really delicious. It's a pretty small and busy place. It was pricey, but I'll pay for good food. Everything I had was delicious and service was quick. They aren't the type of place to be trying to bend over backwards with cheerfully assisting you-they're just tryna get your order and get you on your way. My stars are for the food. Tacos: Lengua-tender good Buche- tender good (could use an onion or salt while cooking) Pastor-it was juicy and good (not the best I've had but not bad) Tripas-Bomb! The best tripas! They were delicious and crispy! Burrito: cabeza was juicy and delicious as well! Burrito was huge! They give you free fresh chips and beans in a cup to go if you want which I love! I will be back for the birria de borrego! Good job El Rey for delicious food!
google avatar

Israel M.

Yelp
Ima be honest I didn't like it, it's extremely expensive, they actually have a $60 burrito, regular burritos are about $20 each, the tortas are about $20 each and the food really has no real good flavor, it seems as if they think if they oil up everything and butter things up it gives it flavor and it doesn't because nothing had quality flavor here everything I tasted was sub par quality cooking for me. I tried the huevos con jamón and I tried a torta de milanesa con chorizo and queso. I don't plan to come here again out of my own choice.
google avatar

Arturo C.

Yelp
I'm Upset because I ordered a buche huarache and there was hardly any buche on the huarache there was more beans lettuce sour cream than anything else so I paid almost $15.00 for beans definitely was my first and last time at this place and he fact that I drove about 25 minutes just to get there to get a bean and lettuce huarache instead a buche huarache really sucks

Veronica G.

Yelp
Omg there burritos are so food and a great serving amount food is amazing and customer service is good food was quick no need to wait
google avatar

Henry Q.

Yelp
Really good place food has really good Taste clean dining room and the have a good horchata
google avatar

Adelia R.

Yelp
I had the most delicious torta de milanesa and agua Fresca de hortata ever. Very good quality food and service too
google avatar

Jessie P.

Yelp
This place has always been good place to eat and food is really good. I had tacos Dorado for the first time and was really disappointed. I bit into it and the whole taco just fell apart. They fry the shell too much. It's a shame cause I love tacos Dorados. Service is always good but they can improve the dining area though.
google avatar

Alma M.

Yelp
Te fixings is my favorite at this restaurant. Ask for a cup for the beans rather then using the little cups for the salsa. I ordered the pastor torta and it was so large its enough for 2 meals. My husband ordered the torta as well and he couldn't even finish it. El Rey really does have the largest tortas in the world.
google avatar

Manny M.

Yelp
Big size tacos, free chips and a cup for beans de la hoya! Glad I stopped by, asada tacos had good portions and the salsas were all great.
google avatar

Isaac M.

Yelp
Hands down authentic and bomb big portions delicious no complaints just amazing!!!!!!

Hunny B.

Yelp
Prices skyrocketed to $20+ for a single torta. The free charro beans don't make up for the price and taste of the torta. I ordered a Codiciada torta and they literally gave me a thin/unseasoned slice of each meat (pierna and milanesa) - for $20 That's unjustified, considering the tortas tend to be undecorated here (meat, avocado, and tomato [cheese is dependent on torta]) Save your money, and get a better tasting torta at Torta Sinaloa
google avatar

Kathleen C.

Yelp
This used to be our #1 go to mexican spot for take out mexican. In the past I have always ordered wet chili verde burrito...today they made it with carnitas and the were horribly stingy with the green chili! Practically none on the inside and barely enough to cover on the outside. The cooks are different too. This has nowhere near the flavor it used to have. To expensive for the quality! Not sure I'll go anymore. Very sad!

Nessa L.

Yelp
I've been going here a couple times a month for 2 years. I ordered meat by the pound the big lady with glasses acts like she makes the cups and beans. She is so greedy and monitors the bean cups they give out. Literally I asked for two she told me no 3 times after spending almost $40 that meal feeds my family and she gave me the tiny cup for the FREE beans and wouldn't give one more. She acts like it's coming out of her paycheck. Ridiculous.
google avatar

Edwin O.

Yelp
Food has always been bomb. I have been eating here since 2007. However, (I get the times are different) butthe prices are just out of control. Yes, pandemic and the inflation raised the price on everything but come on. I've seen the prices of my favorite plate (costillas rancheras) from $11.99 to $23 and change now? And tacos for almost $4... hell no. I love the food here, the tacos, the tortas, biónicos, but with these prices I will have to stop eating there for a while. Also, you guys need to work on your customer service. I'm not saying because you have a 15 year customer drop the red carpet but treat everyone like you really care . Last time I was not impressed with how the front desk person treated me and the person behind me. Obviously, she was not having a good day but that is not the customer's fault. Best of luck and see you guys in the short future I hope.
google avatar

Matthew M.

Yelp
I drive out my way for this place I could eat tacos there everyday there asada has that char grilled flavor so good!!!!! And the free beans you can't go wrong with there HUGE portion sizes you get your money worth

Yelp
Our go to for Mexican food. Best in Chino/Chino Hills. Carnitas burrito, YUM, best I've ever had anywhere! Employees are always friendly and welcoming. Spanish and English speaking.
