Where to Eat Near Mexico City's Major Museums

"Near: Museo del Templo Mayor The founders of this 110-year-old Centro Histórico restaurant firmly believed that turkey shouldn’t just be a holiday dish. So if you’re into turkey, this is your place. And if you’re not, El Rey del Pavo might change your mind. The simple turkey tortas with avocado are the best thing on the menu at this casual spot near the Museo del Templo Mayor, though their torta de bacalao a la vizcaína is a close second. That sandwich was also inspired by the holidays: bacalao, or salted and preserved cod, prepared with olives, capers, and olive oil, is traditionally eaten around Christmas. " - guillaume guevara

The turkey sandwich is delicious, the avocado makes it great. Only took service points down because they took a long while getting my change when the place wasn't busy and I needed to walk back to work, so that's partially on me too. Great place anyway. Prices are definitely a touch high for the size of the portions but at least the food is delicious to make it worth it.

Google
Great spot for torta! Really affordable and they are known for their turkey! They also have an English menu too so that’s great!

Turkey on tap in Mexico City’s Historic District! Surrounded by gold and jewelry stores a plenty, El Rey del Pavo is sweet little nook of a restaurant serving up, of all things, TURKEY! There are a number of options ranging from soups, tacos to assorted plates, all featuring turkey! With each offering, you’re given the option of choosing your cut of meat as well, be it breast, thigh or leg. So for myself and the rest of the dark meat lovers out there...worry not! My buddy and I went with a couple of tacos. We mixed white and dark meat on our first and topped it with crispy turkey skin...a must. The second was adobado style and was equally delicious. Definitely check them out!

Outstanding. Pictured below are the adobado pavon torta and the choriqueso taco. Drooling even thinking about it. Great service and a clean place to boot. Bravo 🇲🇽

My food was okay, I rather lonches than tortas because of the size, anyways I just wanted to eat something out of my confort zone and I thought this place could fit in that space, but when I got there and saw the prices I figured out that it was going to be something big to eat, but I got that wrong also! My torta was good, but so small! For $85 pesos I would've liked something bigger or equivalent

This place is very old, a classic in CDMX, tortas are good, nothing exceptional but they have been there for decades, so it’s a well respected place, although prices are very high in my opinion for the meals you get Perhaps is a good place to know, but you won’t find anything spectacular, specially being in downtown where “gorgeous places to eat are everywhere”

Great place at Downtown Mexico City. The turkey tortas with guacamole are excellent, two will definitely get the job done. Also the “aguas de frutas” are tasty and fresh. I highly recommend it if you’re near the Zocalo.

Yelp
This is not the place I thought I'd be eating in Mexico City, but when you see a giant turkey in a window, you have to stop right? I don't want to pretend this place is perfect, to be honest the tortillas were a bit rubbery, but the crispy turkey skin in breast meat with guacamole more than makes up for it. I also have today that the service is phenomenal, the waiter noticed I was only eating the pickled carrots and garlic, so he brought me a new bowl with only that. A great spot in el Centro.

Yelp
I was looking for traditional Thanksgiving foods with a twist and found El Rey de Pavo. The Uber driver waited while I ran in for takeout. A tasty treat for sure, thick slices of turkey on a fresh soft bun. Pickled fixings on the side. The turkey breast was a little on the dry side, as it would be on a traditional day-after leftover sandwich. But the guacamole and sprinkling of cheese smoothed everything out. next time, I will try the dark meat. Mmmmmmm!
