10 Dallas Sandwiches That Will Cure Even the Worst Hangover | Eater Dallas

"Where else would diners find one of the best traditional Mexican sandwiches other than the self-proclaimed “Capital de la Torta?” With over two dozen torta options all crafted with authentic south-of-the-border flavors, it feels like a trip to Mexico City without ever leaving DFW. To top it off, every sandwich is decked out with mayo, avocado, tomato, onion, Oaxaca cheese, jalapeños, and chipotle peppers." - Lauren Coe

Having recently been in Mexico City 🇲🇽 and tried Tortas there in small “puestos de tortas” and tortas gigantes, this place “El rincón del DF” it’s with no doubt a true Tortas place. From the very beginning, the attentive service and the easy way to order Tortas to the final delivery of the food to you, it is all a great experience. I ordered the Americana and the Brasileña, both great Tortas, from the bread to the rest of the ingredients this are fine crafted sandwiches. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a great and true México DF Torta. Enjoy!!

Google
The best tortas in USA. The various options and styles make this place awesome. Salsas are amazing.

Google
They can't ever listen when you say no jalapenos. Told her 3 times to make sure she got. And still. Told her to please remake over.. Guess what still had jalapeno in both sandwiches... Then they just pick up the jalapeno and still had spicy juice and carrots from the can. There supposed lemonade is fake 😤 come on..

Google
Disgusting. Used to be my fav place for tortas, not anymore second time I received this type of torta llena de sebo, the type that you can’t even bite. Almost all of it with sebo. And look how the vegetables are just thrown and the torta over all very sobby/watery. You can just tell when you have been served by careless people in here they do it that way. Not coming back.

Emilio Gallardo

Google
Its a VERY clean place to begin. The food is REALLY GOOD! The portions are very generous. If you like tortas THIS is your spot! 3 different types of bread and the tortas are HUGE. The lemonade was delicious and my gf got the horchata which was great as well.. Even the restrooms were super clean.. there was a hand sanitizer station everywhere...lol...Definitely will be coming back here!!

Google
If this is the capital I'm sold. I tried a different torta from the usual. Exceeded beyond expectations. So many options. No substitutes. You will not be disappointed. I got a regular size. It could feed two and possibly a small child (or two!!). Can't wait to try another!! Choose your bread flavor, condiment bar, imported beer bottles and coke and more.

Google
Tacos al pastor served like they are in el DF. Loved it. Best of all Taco Tuesday they are $1.

Google
The place was not bad the PRICES are a bit RIDICULOUSLY though! Just for one ☝🏼 torta you will pay about $14.00 EACH. The taste is good not bad but I’ve had way better.

Yelp
Big ass tortas they are delicious. service is great i never had a problem with them. If you hungry this is the place to go.

Yelp
Hunny got the "Torta Americana" (mini). Its was really good and all of it comes together. The ingredients felt fresh. Im not used to eating stringy cheese with it but it was still good tasting and im sure you can ask for it without it. Bug got the "Torta Norteña" (original). All the ingredients that go into it are fresh and hot its not too greasy like most places that over cook the milanesa. The chorizo as well isnt burnt or under cooked its well made . The cheese is delicious i like how stretchy it was, shows just how fresh it all is . Including the bread for it was soft not hard nor too flaky. The horchata wasnt at all bitter or too sweet its a nice even balance for the drink. Overall the wait wasnt very long, and a very big plus is they have like a mini bar area on the left were they have cilantro, cebolla, salsa verde, and limones. So you can add on to your food or get more of something if youd like. Their selection of drinks is good to, they got good selections of beer .

Yelp
Super ricas las tortas!! Tortas and tacos tasted delicious, fresh and big portions too! Salsas are good too :) wish the sold chips to have with salsa for the long wait though..

Yelp
I knew this place was shady soon as I arrived. It was a Friday night with only 2 costumers inside. No where near closing time, I asked the lady what was good. Of course the torta "cubana" is what gets ordered the most. Got it with jalapeño bread. As soon as I took that first bite something seemed off. Nevertheless I still kept eating, I mean I paid like $20 for this thing with drink!. Wasn't too bad but still something that I tried just wasn't there. That night I started feeling a little sick to my stomach, couldn't sleep right and the following day I just couldn't eat anything. That Saturday night i had a fever and having a cold I couldn't even sleep. I woke up in the middle of the night to throw it all up. After that I felt back to normal! This is the equivalent of food poisoning. Whatever it was, save you're money. Don't get sick with nasty food. Go somewhere else.

Yelp
google avatar

Bobby O.

Yelp
Excellent al Pastor tacos with deep authentic flavors! Cozy spot with counter order and a comfortable vibe.

Hope R.

Yelp
Authentic delicious tortas !! My husbands favorite is la zacatecana mine is la Americana. Service and the ambiance is good.
google avatar

Ruby B.

Yelp
It doesn't look big or great from the outside but is much bigger inside. The owner very very attentive. Great service, we had alambres we ask for 2 meat but only found one it was still good. Me and my husband ate and still left some. We ask for 2 kind of tortillas and only got one kind but didn't want to complain. We got suadero torta and took it home , the torta is huge but the suadero was a little plain, it only had suadero and not fixings inside. We also order a cubana to go and it was delicious, my kids loved it. It was huge and absolutely packed with stuff. Worth the $17 dls we paid for it. We also tried the churros rellenos de cajeta and yum yum yum!!!!!! If we lived close we would visit often!
google avatar

Adriana R.

Yelp
Tons of choices and they are huge! Loved that the toast the bread on both sides. Torta didn't get soggy or fell apart like other places. Definitely going back to try different ones.

Rebecca O.

Yelp
This is the only place I order tortas from because they are 10/10. My go to is La Típica and a lot of my friends order La Americana. This past time, I accidentally placed my order twice online and Jessica was able to resolve the issue and process a refund quickly.

Ybp A.

Yelp
Food is good service and the people answering the phones are having 0 idea what they are doing or saying

Judy B.

Yelp
Checked it out while we were in the area. Located in a new shopping center. Low key place but the best tortas we've had in Dallas! The bread was toasted and crispy, the meat was flavorful, and salsa had good heat. We order the Capitalina on sesame and the Típica on original. The milanesa on the Típica was flavorful but a little tough. Definitely would recommend and come back to try other items. A lot of torta choices and customizations you don't get at other places. 4 types of bread: original, sesame, jalapeño cheddar, wheat 4 types of salsa: verde, roja, cacahuate, chipotle

Mitali T.

Yelp
Nice torta. 1 was enough for 2 people to eat almost twice. Delicious. Not much wait time for pickup.
google avatar

Eric B.

Yelp
Maybe I did not smile enough when I ordered. The pic really explains it. Friends told me oh man you have to try this place it is the best in dfw Place is in a gas station/convenience store that no longer serves neither I feel a little violated after the price I paid and what I actually received. The menu said mayo, avocado, tomato, onion, Oaxaca Cheese, jalapeños or chipotle peppers,Milanesa, pork leg, and sausage. Hot dogs are not sausage, I found a piece of tomato and the smallest, thinnest, piece of avocado and as you can see some peepers. I never found mayo, cheese, onion and you can see the rest . Except for the guy that was taking the orders the service was nice and friendly, he seemed like he had better things to do than take my order I would rather have a Vienna sausage spam sandwich
google avatar

Ivan C.

Yelp
This spot is super clean. Very nice and cozy inside. I highly recommend this place. Make sure you come here with lots of hunger because the tortas are huge. The staff was super friendly and the service was really fast as well. I had a Texana Torta. I was not able to finish it. But believe me, i have dinner for Tonite.

Valerie B.

Yelp
Food is super delicious, my torta was freshly made and tastes amazing l. Place is clean ! Music is great !

Andrea D.

Yelp
google avatar

Yelp
This is a grill inside what looks like a service station in a not-at-all trendy area of Dallas. That said, if the neighborhood scares you then maybe you should just stick to uptown or the suburbs (same thing, amirite?) This isn't what I would call a "bad" neighborhood or even a sketchy one. You'd have to go further north (to Royal) or south (to NW Highway) to truly find a place that's questionable to enter. This is just working class. But they take a credit card that you swipe in an iPad. I discovered this place after an article in some publication said they have the best Torta Cubana in Dallas. I don't know if that's true, but I will say they have the best torta of any variety that I have had at any location in Dallas. They also have tacos, breakfast, and sincronizadas. But we're here to discuss the tortas. First: they're f-ing huge. I didn't finish. You probably won't either. Second: they're made to order. Third: there are 4 fresh bread options (white, wheat, sesame, jalapeno) Fourth: there are at least 30 varieties This is an order-at-the-register place. You can get it to-go or you can have a seat. They also sell soda and horchata. And you will be stuffed for $10-$15.

Yelp
Went to this place about 4 days ago and it was my First time at this place a friend of mine took me there the tacos were amazing and food was done fast didn't take long also the sauces are amazing too definitely adding this place to my tacos list. I tried suadero tacos and the meat was just perfect cooked just right juicy and so flavorful. I wanna try their gorditas we'll be back soon.

Yelp
So delicious!!! Tortas are so good and big enough to share! The churros are stuffed with caramel! And the horchatas are very tasty too, we will be back and telling our friends about this hidden gem! Can't forget how nice the staff is and clean the restaurant is, the food was made in a fair amount of time too.

J. Robert G.

Yelp
Very good food. We happened to have spent the night in a hotel close to the restaurant so I dound this nice restaurant on this app. I recommend this place. You will receive excellent customer service from the owner and a big smile from the cook. I can vouch they are true MEXICO D.F. Tortas since I work and travel alot in Mexico. I ended up having a great interactive discussion with the owner. He is legitimate Mexico City. They have an enormous amount of combinations of meats, cheeses, bread and salsas. They even have vegetarian tortas for those who stay away from meat. One word of warning though..... they are humongous so buy to share. I only wish we had one in the Rio Grande Valley...

Barron E.

Yelp
Para nada recomiendo este restaurante la mi torta tenia nada mas una rebanada de jitomate I aguacate el queso no ensayaba mixtiado con el chori queso I pedí una torta de chori queso

Pamela R.

Yelp
Best Torta Places!! We ordered the papas locas, Torta Cubana, and Pastor torta, very good stars
google avatar

Jon-Mark W.

Yelp
Hands down the best breakfast tacos in town. Got them with bacon and Mexican style. Soooo good!!!
google avatar

Dave W.

Yelp
Tortas are huge. Parking is small. One of the main reasons I don't come here as often. Hopefully with the move they'll have a nice place as well as better parking
google avatar

Gary B.

Yelp
Pretty good, don't let the neighborhood deceive or scare you. Top quality real Mexican food with fairly generous portions. I ate here today for the 1st time and plan on making this place a regular stop. They serve real Mexican sofas (made with sugar). I'm getting hungry again writing this review .

Miguel L.

Yelp
google avatar

Luis L.

Yelp
1-Place was a bit difficult to find because I'm not familiarize with the area. 2-This building is way too big, I was expecting a more "small traditional Mexican restaurant". 3- Portions are freaking huge! I single dish will get you full. 4- Service was exceptional! The lady at the countertop was very helpful and friendly and so was the owner. 5- The food is delicious!!!!! Also, as a Hispanic Professional Chef I want to say that good is not only amazing but their salads are freaking bad ass! I use to sell homemade salsas as a side gig and I do old school family recipes. But seriously... food, aguas frescas and the salsas here are extremely good! 6- I'm not sure about this, but I can almost guarantee that their 4 different kinds of bread are made in house. And if they are not... whatever, they are still great!
google avatar

Candy T.

Yelp
Torta selection is unrivaled. 4 delicious kinds of torta bread. FOUR! All of your favorite tacos and tortas under one massive roof.
google avatar

A. Laura M.

Yelp
This place is the bomb.com of course it's a hole in the wall kinda place but once again those are the best. I like the fact that you can choice what kind of bread you want. I had the Americana it's fajita meat with cilantro & avocado could only finish half of it two can eat from one torta. My hubby had the Cubana had all the flavor type of meats neither had lettuce wish it did. They also have alil salsa bar which keeps them cold. The horchata drink was good too. Don't let the area of the neighborhood fool you it's safe.
google avatar

Richard L.

Yelp
This place is legit. We just moved to the Dallas area from San Diego and we were craving some great Mexican food. Luckily we got some great advice from the owners of a dulceria around the corner. It's not much to look at from outside but the packed parking lot looked promising. It's in an old gas station and hard to pass. The gentlemen at the register was very welcoming and helpful. These tortas are huge! My girlfriend split one with her mom and I had my own. Neither of us finished. Very flavorful, hot, crispy, melty and all around great tortas. The bread was nice and fresh. All tortas come with avocado, tomato, onion and jalapenos. Lots of fresh salsas to choose from were great. We had the Suadero and Pastor with Pineapple. We will definitely be back. They are moving locations, so can't wait to visit the new spot!
google avatar

Jarrod P.

Yelp
These are hands down the best tacos I've had in Dallas, at $1.50 a taco to boot. I've tried just about every taco they have and a few of the tortas, and everything has been flavorful and well-cooked without exception. There is a self-service bar with traditional street taco fixings and an assortment of delicious salsas so you can finish building the street taco of your dreams. The restaurant is in a convenience store with non-functional gas pumps and from the outside it looks a little run-down. The seating area is nice enough though, and I've never noticed any issues with cleanliness. There are burglar bars on the windows, and after you try the food here you'll understand why they're necessary.
google avatar

R G.

Yelp
I was alone when I came here. But I'm definitely bringing my family here. I had the American torta, which has mayonnaise, avocado, fajita, Oaxaca cheese, tomato, onion, and jalapeño. Kind of salty and spicy at the same time. Awesome! The guys in the kitchen are pretty fast preparing them, and courteous. I recomend anyone to come here on Sundays around 11:30am, when it's kind of quiet and it's not crowded.
google avatar

Gabby M.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to eat tortas.. all I have to say is DAMMMMNNNNN. A must try u wont be disappointed Promise
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
I have so wanted to try this place since I heard about it ! Super delicious and big sandwiches. I had the veracrucera super delicious atún tuna and avocado . I choose the jalapeño cheese bread and had some jalapeños on the side. Can you say anything more? This was just about the most delicious thing I did all day ! Would so go back for their chicken sandwiches and horchata. They're gonna move so be on the lookout! Friendly service too but all Spanish !
google avatar

Marcos P.

Yelp
Best tortas in Dallas hands down. The new location looks great and parking is easy. Staff is always very nice and attentive, will be back for sure!!
google avatar

Graeme S.

Yelp
Best tacos I've ever had in dallas!! I miss the authentic taste I am used to growing up in Southern California. These fajita tacos were seasoned to perfection, not bland at all, and the Tex mex quesadilla with the homemade salsa was incredible. I wish it was closer to me! I would go more often! But for now, it is a special treat I will look forward to
google avatar

Elias Sebastian F.

Yelp
Best tortas i've had so far. Crispy bread, fresh ingredients, made to order; tortas are around $9 but they're big with plenty of meat, you'll probably eat half and save the rest for later. Service could use a little help, but doesn't stop me from going. My brother introduced me to this place and i can't avoid it every time I'm in the area
google avatar

Kenneth K.

Yelp
Come see the owner working at his place every day. This is the cleanest place in the area for sure. Also the best tacos and tortas in DFW.
google avatar

Nidia S.

Yelp
This is the best of the best of tortas! My dad brought me here like two years ago and iv loved it and dreamt of it ever since! Lol. This places is so good, Iv brought my bf and my mom separate times. and I just want everyone to know of this awesome deliciousness of a place! But it makes me sad because it's so far from me:( They have so many different option of tortas to choose from so if you're not ready to order take a seat and look at the menu for a while (unless it's during lunch time, get that order in ASAP or else you'll be waiting for ages...but for real though like 30+ minutes) or if you're a dare devil just go with the Cubana which has a Little bit of everything(that's the one my dad gets) Also These tortas are huge! And you'll get full so quick. But take your time bc you can always eat half of the torta and for the second half rotate clockwise with the people you're with and you get 2 different kind of tortas to try ;) Also yeah it's true about the owner/guy at the register, he's always so -__- bleh it seems but hey I don't curr, cus I don't know his story or why he's like that all the time so whatever it's still very good food and you only deal with him for a few minutes so you'll survive :)
google avatar

Lori M.

Yelp
Excellent tortas. I have the Cuban torta which has a little bit of everything. Huge portions. I'm guessing it is at a new location cause there was plenty of parking. I will definitely be going there again.

Yessi D.

Yelp
I was there on Saturday morning, they took 40 minutes to serve a 1 torta and 3 tacos, assuming they had forgotten about our order we asked them what was going on and they answered very rudely with is coming. Very disappointed, they're very rude and their customer service is just horrible.
google avatar

Liz O.

Yelp
This place has great food! The tortas are huge and not expensive at all! The horchata is bomb and the music really makes you feel like you are back in el D.F. This is a must try for authentic Mexican food!
google avatar

Millie V.

Yelp
Big Tortas!! Delicious and fresh! We ordered the Duranguese Torta and it was amazing. Great place for pick up/ take out on the run.
google avatar

Paris R.

Yelp
Excellent Tortas (Mexican Sandwich), Tacos, Alambres, and Breakfast. Good quality ingredients and the best value for your money.
google avatar

Jose R.

Yelp
The food was really good and authentic. However, my soda was cool not cold so when I asked for a cup of ice the person at the cash register charged me fifty cents for the cup. It's not the fifty cents that upset me it's the type of service, I felt like I would be charged for anything extra I requested thus 3 stars instead of 4. 78/100
google avatar

Bryan S.

Yelp
Tortas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If your looking for a torta this is the super uber size tortas that specialize in only that arena!! I recommend you order the cubano if your a meat lover and other than that I would say splurge and try out what your taste buds have not experience? Regards Bryan P.S. Live a little and eat and enjoy company that makes you happy!
google avatar

Gerson M.

Yelp
Best tortas I've had in a long time!! We have tried a couple of different ones and have all been awesome. They are huge so don't let the prices scare you, 2 people can eat from one of this tortas.

Cynthia H.

Yelp
Wish I can give ZERO stars put our name in at 6:30 said it was a 30 minute wait. We left at 7:30 never were seated. Never received an update or offered water while waiting on the hot patio for our table. Young girl taking names didn't even apologize as we left. Awful experience. Oh by the way as we were sitting outside a table with a pregnant woman had to go in to check on their order. Bad service!!! Do NOT recommend
