Yelp
I give few 5 star reviews but this place has earned it, so long as you keep in mind this is a local restaurant catering to not just the Cuban palate, but also it's cultural norms. It's inexpensive, fast, and serves some of the best Cuban food in Miami. (You'd think there were a lot of good Cuban restaurants in Miami, but among the mostly mediocre this place is a standout.)
I came here last Saturday for a late breakfast and found sometime since the last time I was here they'd renovated, giving the place an updated modern feel, still casual but almost trendy.
We had the ham croquetas, which were flavorful with a crispy light crust and served hot, fresh out of the fryer. I ordered the Perico Ripiado, which is scrambled eggs mixed with ham, onions, peppers, and tomatoes. All the ingredients were fresh and the eggs were cooked perfectly, not dry but also not runny. The accompanying fries were the perfect size and crisp but not overdone. I drink American coffee and they make a surprisingly good cup. The Cuban bread used in the toast was a little dry for me but that was just the luck of the draw as my wife's was perfect. She ordered the vegetarian omelet, with tomatoes, onions, green peppers and mushrooms, which she said was also perfectly cooked and it was obvious the ingredients were fresh.
The service was fast, professional, and efficient. This is still my #1 go to place when I want good Cuban food with no fuss.
