El Rodeo Taco Express

Ordered a beef botana for 4 for take out. Service was fast and friendly. The botana was very good and a better price than other places we've been to. The beans and rice were also very good. The vegetables were very generous. Overall we enjoyed it and will order again. We were 5 and we still didn't finish it.

Tried this place for the first time… and it was very disappointed. It is super expensive for the quality of food. Tacos are cold. Fajita has no seasoning whatsoever. Beans are water down and no flavor. The pico de gallo is not fresh. AND DONT GET ME STARTED WITH THE FRESH LEMONADE. It was water down and made with faucet water. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. They should just close down and rethink their entire business.

What an amazing place! It was recommended to go and try the tacos here and boy oh boy, what a great recommendation. As I pulled into the parking lot, I could smell the savory flavors of the chicken, meat, tacos, all the onions and cilantro. As I walked into El Rodeo, I was greeted by the staff, they were enthusiastic, helpful, very hard-working, and even took some pics with me. The server took us to our table, provided the menus, and brought back the beverages that we ordered within minutes. The server was super helpful in explaining what was in the dishes and also made some great recommendations. This place was a great open concept, with plenty a room, fresh air in an area for bands, and even dancing. As you can see from the pictures, we ordered some Carne Asada fries, tacos adobada, sopes , chicken and carne flautas, rolled tacos with all the toppings. Portions are small, no napkins for a to go order… and not even enough salsa for two tacos, decided to give it a shot after being closed for awhile… La Herradura would never…better just come for morning tacos at least they give better portion for your money.

Staff is very professional and respectful, food is really good, and so is the service. We really like the fact that they don't allow alcohol and that makes it a good place to go with the family.

This place was...ok. we had a big party so we knew our order would take a while which we did not complain about or anything. However they did charge us for water even after a few of us ordering multiple drinks so that did place a sour first impression on me admittedly. One of the plates came out cold and we had to have them redo them and another plate came with lettuce when we asked for it without. The food was pretty ok. But nothing setting it apart from any other nearby Mexican restaurants. Tortas were big at least and the burger was decent.

Dined in after the reopening. Not the same as before. Food was way too cold and beans were flavorless. To top it off, Male, Bald older waiter was rude with several of his responses and customers including ourselves couldn’t talk to him in Spanish without him rudely repeating that “he didn’t speak Spanish, only spoke English” instead of kindly redirecting them to a Spanish speaking employee.

Covered outdoor place with good inexpensive food, decent service, and a cheery feeling. But it's only open in the evening. it's a fun place to get together with the guys if the weather is good. UPDATE 10/16/23 the refried beans were not so good this time and the guacamole on my flautas was a bit brown. But still is a good time.

Ordered the Botana for 4 and easily could've fed 5 or 6. Lots of food and sides which was nice. The green salsa was the best in my opinion. They have outdoor seating with fans and TVs but we took our order to-go. Outside they had someone playing live music and it wasn't a bad night to be outside. We called in our order ahead of time and probably had it done within 30 minutes. Good food good portion size and friendly serbic

Order Botana for 3. El rodeo offered attentive phone etiquette. Ate at home with food arriving warm. Food was good. Chips nice and cheesy. Loved the grilled onion and jalapeno with melted cheese. Throw a jalapeno in your flour tortilla with a sprinkle of salt. Yum!

I can't believe we have to pay the extra credit card charges !!!! They give you a discount if you pay cash !!! And make sure you look at your ticket when picking up your orders they try to add a extra tip for the the cooks !!! Really last time I Oder from them !!!!! I will report them to the small BBA

Food was nasty. I ordered birria tacos. Tacos had almost no meat at all, birria sauce was not good.

I have been searching for the perfect Birria tacos, especially because of the consume, and I finally found it! The atmosphere of this Taqueria is extremely chill, and the service is excellent!

I've ordered from here multiple times, and it just seems like it's getting worse. The tacos were not good at all.

The food looked like it would have been nice but they ran out of fajita on a Thursday.wasnt there long enough to figure out if the service sucked but it prolly would. The music sucked.first and last time going

Food is tasty and the loaded potato is delicious as well as the birria, but last time I got a type of napkin on the taco & a bone as well. And they barely had any of the birria.

The food is amazing service is good although I've never eaten at the place itself the service I get over the phone and once I go for pick up, I have no complaints as to the ambience it is chilled and it feels like you can go with a group of friends and eat out enjoy the night with some good true Mexican cuisine..

Bad service. Good tacos .i tried calling in advance but no answer .be prepared to wait 30 minutes for 6 tacos .

Had the tacos de maiz with tripa & trompo then the waiter said they were out of trompo so had to get bistek, bummer. The charro beans were descent nothing spectacular. Friend ordered the quesadilla plate. Rice was horrible to say the least, no salt no flavor just blanned. The beans were edible. The tacos on the other hand were pretty good. Liked the tortilla de maiz they came with a bit greasy which is totally normal, good portion of tripa & bistek. Service was OK. I've had better tacos elsewhere, probably won't be stopping by this place again anytime soon. Liked the setting, yellow light gives it a nice vibe. Drinks were priced average. The place was clean, parking lot as well.

The Botana for 4. Nothing else to say. This was the only Mexican food we ordered while we lived in McAllen and the only thing we miss about living there.

Once again, PERFECT! Had the potato, it was full of butter, sour cream, cheese, and steak.

I would recommend this restaurant. The service was very good. Our waitress, very efficient, Our food was delicious too the price was...awesome the stuffed peppers and baked potatoes was really cheesy so good' hot great atmophere family friendly and great for hang outs

Food is pretty good, the sopes are the best thing I've had from the menu. Only reason I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 is because sometimes they do mess up the orders when I order for take out, other than that it is a solid go-to place

Service is dreadful. Our first time here, we had to repeat our order several times to the girl at the counter, DF. Our food took over 30 minutes to arrive and that was after I got up twice to ask if it was ready. It came in "To Go" packaging. Nothing EXPRESS about it!!! Food was great, delicious actually. So if you want great food, pack your patience.

This place is pretty awesome. They have a variety of food and you can't go wrong with whatever you pick. The food is also decently priced. The only bad thing I could say is that sometimes it gets so busy that there's no parking and no room to sit, so if you stop by get there early! Other than that, this is a great place for tacos or a torta!

I ordered 6 corn tortilla tacos with Fajita and a Baked Potato with cheese, butter, and sour cream. The tacos come in orders of 5 but the server ordered me an extra taco. Good God those tacos were amazing. The meat was super fresh and seasoned perfectly. Very juicy and oh so tender!!!! The tortillas were doubled and lightly toasted with a little bit of oil just the way I like them. Ok, The potato was HUGE! Between the three of us we were barely able to finish it. The flavor was ok but missing something (probably bacon) so why did I give this place three stars... the atmosphere, lighting, and outdoor seating was not my cup of tea. That's why this place is an Eeehhhh! for me.

The food is delicious, great multi item menu, good prices and fast turn around from window to table service. Definitely recommend to others.

Had this food with some friends. I had the hamburger, which included guacamole inside and it was delicious!! The fries were nothing special but were still tasty. One friend had the torta and she thought it was really good!! Another friend had the papa which was rather large and had a lot of meat in it. He really enjoyed his meal.

This place has crappy food. The atmosphere is toxic and the food is gross. The tacos are very greasy and and slimey. They claim to have good Mexican food but the truth is taco Bell is more Mexican than this place. And if you think I'm not Mexican then I'm right here puto! Vergasos outside the parking lot alv.

Insane Taco selection. Lonches were just like I remembered from Progreso. Great service. Live music. Every dish was tasty. Complimentary beans for appetizer

OMG! I have been here about 4 times already & I have never been disappointed. Their fajita is so soft, it is amazing. My favorite item are the lonches! I thought you had to cross the border for good lonches until I ate them here. They're almost twice the size as the little lonches from Mexico (Progreso) and the torta is very soft.

Not sure what the hoopla is all about for this place. We went and the food was nothing special. We waited a horribly long time for service. Waiter didnt get the order right. Brought the grilled onions after we ate the tacos and the constant wind blowing and flies was HORRIBLE as there is no inside option. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is the tiny amount of fajita I did get in the tacos had a good flavor. Wont be back

Mouth-watering food, grand portions, reasonable prices, and friendly customer service. This place never disappoints. The dining area is currently closed due to COVID - but their curbside is terrific! Calling in an order is easy; you can view the menu on their Facebook page.

There was a young hispanic girl working behind the front counter, and she was one of the most unpleasant people I've ever met! Really ugly attitude... not sure if her parents never taught her manners or if she has a miserable life. Other than that disgusting encounter, the food was really good. I recommend all the way and will definitely go back! :) I'll be sure to eat there next time.. the guy waitressing seemed really nice!

So good. Got the Tacos, and they were delish, and only $7.00! The servings are huge. Me and my husband almost wished we shared a plate. Service was efficient. Will come back soon!

Gotta say after contemplating where to eat, what new place to try we ended up here.. the service was good food was awesome got there just before the live music was about to play. I guess after reading some bad reviews on here it seems to be bad luck or something ,with ppl experiencing bad service.. to me the place was running smooth , customers where going in and out with there order.. like I said it's a hit or miss on a bad day at any place that you go to eat.. I'll definitely be coming back.

This is a great hole in the wall restaurant that has the best tacos in town. When you are in a hurry and want to catch a quick home cooked meal... this is the place. Personnel is real nice & friendly! While eating you can also pic up your fresh cut meatS to BBQ... great selection!!! & don't forget your salsas.......enjoy!

Sincronizada heaven. Papa asada with mollejas is my FAVORITE. Stumbled upon this place driving to my client, and enjoy some tacos or potato whenever I am in the area. Too good. Some of the staff leave a lot to be desired, but the food is too good to leave anything less than 5 stars.

I never thought I'd find a place with similar Mexico burgers and wow this place is super good, great customer service, and good price for a big burger with fries I'll definitely visit again!

I ordered flautas with guacamole, which came with a side order of fries and fajitas to go. The service was quick, perfect for when you're on the go. They have an outside dining area to enjoy your meal. Food was pretty good and decently priced.

Wow!!! A friend from Brownsville told me I had to try lonches while in the area. I tracked down this place through Yelp. And it worked! The food was absolutely outstanding! But so was the atmosphere and service. My coworker had a taco plate and that looked great to. I'd be a regular if I lived in the area. Since I dont, it'll haunt my dreams.

I can definitely say that this is my go-to for taco/ torta/ botana cravings. They're honestly one of my favorite places for some real Mexican food. The only problem is the wait is usually insanely long and it's so hard to reach them over the phone. In the end, the food is worth it.

Real Mexican Taco stand food. Tacos are amazing. Their lunches are great as well. My buddy said the potatoes and tortas were great as well. The strawberry lemonade comes with real strawberry inside. I will definitely be back. THP friendly.

The food is really good but it's surprisingly expensive considering it's a dive with outdoor seating only. I didn't like eating outside considering the cold, drizzling weather we've had.

Good start with the comp beans. Fajita plate tasted reheated, should have stuck with the tacos.

I witnessed a waitress making fun of customer last year and the manager didn't do anything. Wow plus the food was not the way I wanted it.

The tacos were really good! I enjoy the meat it was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The tacos were not greasy. I got them on flour tortillas. It is outdoor so it can get hot even under the covered area. I recommend giving this place a try!

great tacos!! bistec were seasoned very nicely and tender. the mollejas were also pretty tasty and soft. tacos weren't too greasy like some places I've been too. was disappointed that lonches and trompo weren't avaliable that night. papas were huge..enough for 3ppl. Definitely coming back to at least for the lonches. nice outdoor covered seating. Meat quality should be expected good since next door is their very own Meat market.

Tacos and delicious with a great variety in menu options. The outdoor restaurant feels authentic to taquerias. The waitress service is a little slow but they provide good service.

Great food and service. We were amazed at the amount of food for the price we paid. Seriously, the quality of all the food was excellent. Can't wait to go back!

Over 45 min for 2 orders of tacos and some panchos is insane. Its super packed, people coming in and out. I placed my order and they said 20 min. I said okay, went back to my vehicle and went back in. No luck! People arrived after me, minutes later there names were called and left, more people came in, the same thing. It seemed like forever! I got asked like 4 times for my name and nothing. I got up and stood were they take your order and no one even asked if I needed something. I was about to leave when they called my name. If you want food from here I recommend calling it in at least an half an hour to an hour before. It was around 6 when I went on a Sunday.

I don't know how it could have 4 stars, the tacos had no grilling taste, my enchiladas filling was boiled just horrible. The only one thing that was good was the waitress

Love the place, location is a little far from me but anyways great food, but the only thing I didn't like was I was not able to bring my own drinks inside (bottled water), but technically the place is outside so I'm not bringing anything inside the place haha, but papa is great love it love the tacos too, one of the great taquerias.

These are my favorite tacos in the RGV. My favorites are the fajita, Trompo, and tripa. The papa is also delicious and served with Mexican chips.

I came all the way from ALABAMA to eat Tacos al pastor (Trompo) and they were cooked to perfection. I also ordered a Tres Leches cake and it was great. Prices are cheap. If you want authentic Mexican tacos, you need to come here.

The beef tastes like chicken, VERY EXPENSIVE for anything you want to add 1.99 cheese or whatever refills as well. 2.99 for a drink 75¢ for refill. Food wasn't good overall.Not worth the drive. ? Would give zero starts if I could.

Seriously good tacos and the loaded potatoes are huge. Love this place! The order of tacos is enough to fill me up and the potato is awesome on the side. Price is normal for a taco place, and the amount of food you get is perfect
