Chimichanga was crispy and flaky. I’m wasn’t a big fan of the tomato sauce because it was too sweet. It’s a casual dine place for a quick bite to eat

Google
Our go to taco place for lunch and dinner! I haven’t found any other place better than this place to be truly honest. I have been coming to this place since 2019 and discovered how good their hard shell chicken taco, steak taco, and the lomo en chile de arbol. I took one star because of the price. It is almost $4 per taco and for the meal plates almost $20. The place is small but clean. And the owners and staff are nice and friendly.

Have been here a couple times since moving into the area and the food does not disappoint. Very fast from order to receiving food. The staff is super friendly.

Google
El Rodeo is a delightful gem of the suburbs. Absolutely amazing food and service with a simple environment. This is our third time eating here, and perfect. If you leave hungry, that's on you. Portions are just right. 5 - Star all the way.

Google
Food was pretty good, nothing you haven't had before at every other place just like this. I do need to address one thing though... We ordered based on their website menu/pricing and we ended up being charged an extra $12.50 on top of that pricing. No matter how we added it up (yes we even added 10% tax) we could not account for an extra $12.50 more than what we ordered. This leads me to believe their web menu pricing isn't accurate or is slightly misleading - so just go in eyes wide open and make sure the price is what you expected. Otherwise, while good, it's not on the level of something you're going to crave or remember in a couple days. Flavors were solid, I would say the rice and beans were a bit flat and needed a pinch more salt. Tacos were slightly dry and overcooked, but the flavors were there. Enchiladas were relatively on point and the Chiles Relleños was also pretty good. All in all I'd give this place a solid 3.5. Since I can't do that, and factoring in the pricing issue, I landed on a 3. We will probably be back, maybe, but will continue to look for better options as well.

Google
First time here. The food was prepared fresh so it was hot when we got it. It was delicious. And it was just enough food to fill the tummy. The staff were very friendly. The restaurant was clean. I will be back.

Google
Today was my first time stopping in. I love a good horchata and I feel like not many people review that. Horchata tastes great, properly sweetened and not too strong in other ingredients. It is not as creamy as some I have had before however, I am putting it in my top 5 horchata’s. First time in like I said, I believe I chatted with the owner, super friendly, very hospitable, chatted with me like I was a regular for the past 10 years. Already love the place and I haven’t tried the food yet. Will definitely be going back soon to try the food though. I.e. I only stopped in for a horchata 😂

Google
This place is the absolute best! Tacos are amazing and so flavourful! They really pack the tacos too. The owners are super friendly and the service was awesome! The time it took for us to get our food couldn’t have been any quicker! Definitely our go to for amazing Mexican food!!

Yelp
Great food and service! We live down the street. I love the menudo and used to eat it all the time! Recently I am not able to eat tomatoes because they cause me arthritis pain so I cannot eat Menudo anymore (really saddens me). I now love to nosh on the vegetarian tacos Mexican style! The tacos have steamed broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and onions and for Mexican style they add cilantro, diced raw onions, and a lime slice. You can get rice and beans in a shell or even avocado options if you're vegetarian. Just let your server know your diet restrictions and they will work with you! There is a lot of variety on the menu they even have breakfast items. There are 7 booths that seat 4 people and 4 two person booths. There is one low round table with chairs. My husband loves the horchata, burritos, and tacos. When we are seated at the table we are always welcomed with menus and chips and salsa within 2 minutes. Everyone is so nice here! I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try.

Yelp
As always food is great here. I love the torta cubana and the torta poblana. If you haven't tried them I highly recommend. There chips and salsa which is complementary are fresh and home made. The burritos are delicious and you can even get a lunch special with a pop can and fries. The service is great and it family working there, great people.

Yelp
Lovely no fuss restaurant with great service. We walked in and were immediately greeted at our table with chips and the menu. I had tacos special and my father the burrito. Overall flavorful, but the tacos are small and the tortilla a little dry. If the three tacos I enjoyed the asada the most. Recommend for a quick easy stop when on this side of town.

Yelp
I came here for lunch and ordered a chicken burrito. $8.50 for a burrito loaded with meat, beans, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. It was delicious and. Our server was very nice. Beware of the green salsa they give you...it's really hot! I would definitely come back here. I dock El Rodeo 1 star for the messy area around the register/ordering area. Cases and cases of soda and drinks stacked up. It doesn't look appealing when you're walking in seeing all the clutter. Excess drinks should be in some kind of storage area away from customers.

Gary A.

Yelp
Everything here is top tier amazing with one exception. I've eaten most of the menu and the only thing I didn't care for was the enchiladas with mole sauce but still I've ordered them three times. The so-so enchiladas mole is still a darn fine eat. The salsa there is so good, no joke, I've done shots from the little takeout cups. The only really caveat to the five stars is the seating is old and designed for the body sizes on the seventies. It's all booths except for one table. When I was a pretty obese person the booths were a tight fit but seemingly the typically sized patrons have no issues with it. Folks in wheel chairs would have some difficulty here.

Yelp
Ate here today for the first time. Staff was very friendly. I had the flautas. I thought they were small and light on the chicken. My companion enjoyed her steak tacos. Chips and salsa were brought immediately to the table and were both good. TV was blaring! Dining room was COLD (granted, it's February).

Angry P.

Yelp
Tried this place - it was ok. Pricing is average for Mexican food. Got the chicken flautas - seemed a little smaller Than typical, but ok. Came with cheese, guac, and side of beans/rice. Not bad but not the best either. They have a typical Mexican food menu. It's located in a strip plaza with free parking in front. Overall ok. Pricing is average, although they do charge a credit card fee.

Yelp
Food is authentic and good. Service is great. Ambiance is comfortable. Price is very reasonable. I will be going back again and again.

Yelp
We love the food here, authentic and the nachos with ground is top on our list! Good service and friendly too

Yelp
Good food. very friendly staff. My go-to Mexican restaurant.. also, its just around the corner by me, very convinient. Would recommend this place.

Yelp
I ordered the steak burrito well done with the rice and beans and the food was very tasty! The meat is flavorful and tender, I didn't like the sour cream too much, but ordered it again without the cream and still delicious! Salsa is also very good! Definitely my go to when I want a burrito meal! Friendly staff! Thanks again!

Yelp
We have been coming here for over 20 years and there is nothing on this menu that has disappointed. Far surpasses anything in this area, food and customer service. Lee Family

Yelp
Me and my family have been eating at both El Rodeo locations since we moved to Hanover Park in 1995. We've probably eaten almost everything on the menu at this point and I can say without a doubt that it is all delicious. My go to order is an horchata and 3 steak tacos. The horchata in my opinion is the only horchata in Illinois that isn't too sweet, doesn't have a chalky texture and the flavor is perfect. I will admit that the food isn't the best Mexican food I've ever had but it's pretty damn good and satisfying compared to other local Mexican restaurants. I am giving them a 5 star review simply based on these facts: 1. I compare every horchata to their horchata. 2. Consistently great quality food and service over a span of more than 20 years. 3. The owner is such a hard worker and cares very much about his business and it shows. Definitely eat here if you haven't already. You will not regret it.

Yelp
I used to go here all the time. My husband and I loved it. My husband passed away and I didn't go for awhile. When I decided to go I ordered a steak burrito to take home. When I opened it it was loaded with grease. Grease literally dripping out of it. I took 2 bites and threw it in the garbage.

Yelp
Thank you, Yelp, for leading us to this home style restaurant! Whenever we have guests from foreign lands, we try to treat them to Mexican food since we know it's hard to find outside the US & Mexico. This is a great find! Good prices, very good food with a large menu, friendly & quick service, clean restrooms.

Yelp
El rodeo is really good. I love there Cubana torta and pueblano torta. The staff are really nice and it a family restaurant. They have all the flavor of soda here. If you are never tried this place give it a chance it good. The have a tv and they have sports or Mexican soap operas

Mariflor S.

Yelp
The food(nachos deluxe)-generous, taco dinner and steak burrito dinner always hits the spot! Gentleman/owner always pleasant on the phone. Never ate inside--always carry out but the place looks clean.

Yelp
OMG. Seriously the best Mexican food I may have ever had. I got the chimichanga. Not dry, extremely flavorful! The red sauce on it had a hint of sweetness.. so yummy! I heated it up the next day and enjoyed it even more. People working there are very kind and quick. Give them a try!

Yelp
Delicious reasonable and friendly service. The tostadas are incredible. And we really enjoy the homemade salsa.

Yelp
Family owned Mexican restaurant that serves authentic food!! Been eating here since years and the taste and quality have always been consistent. I love their vegetarian tostada and veggie taco!! They serve excellent horchata as well. Oh and they keep Mexican Pepsi/coke-love it! El Rodeo serves good portions and everything is priced reasonably. They give complimentary chips and spicy salsa as soon as you take your table. Caution to the ones who can't handle spicy food!!

Judy G.

Yelp
What a find. It's been hard to find a Mexican restaurant that both my husband and I agree on. I love Taco Maya's healthy taco salad, but he only likes hardshell tacos which they don't make. I don't eat wheat, beans, corn or rice, and other restaurants put rice or beans in their taco salads. I was so happy to find this restaurant on Yelp. They have delicious hard shell tacos for hubby, and the greatest Orden de Lengua en salsa ( tongue) I've ever eaten. Their refried beans covered with melted cheese is amazing. I can't wait to go again.
google avatar

Yelp
There are a lot of Mexican restaurants around but this place is a STANDOUT! Fresh and delicious and made to order! The salsa is so good I had four bowls. Bisteca is cooked to perfection with a well seasoned blend of herbs and cheese. Tacos are plentiful! Seriously, this is a must try establishment. Friendly service too! You're treated like royalty!

Pranav P.

Yelp
Very good food here. I always judge a plate by their taco dinners. I will save the tacos are a tad small, but they were very tasty. I had the Al Pastor really enjoyed it. I also gauge your place by its rice and beans. Both were very very good here. Chips and salsa was great start. I would come back over and over again.
google avatar

Cliff K.

Yelp
So so carne asada tacos after reading reviews I expected better. No quiro cabasa tacos

Maria D.

Yelp
I give this restaurant a four star because the food is great and so are the people. However I do think that they could be a little cleaner, I think that they could add a scent to their cleaner just because it smells like dirty water if that even makes sense.

Yelp
I regret underestimating this small fast food restaurant. For some reason, I went here for the first time with some of my friends, and we just decided to grab a bite at this spot. It is a clean, small, and cozy restaurant. Based on their menu, it seems like they are an authentic Mexican spot. I just ordered tacos for myself and my friends got different orders. Since it is a small spot and there are no full tables, including us, we expected that the service would be quick, but it was not, and I kind of thought that the food may not be good, making it long before it is served. However, I was surprised when our orders came and the tacos looked really appetizing to me at first glance, and the taste was just so good. It is so good with fresh, tender, and flavorful meat. It is a really good spot, and we liked the food and the atmosphere, even if the service took a long time. I will definitely be back.

Slmra O.

Yelp
Check your order before you leave. I was at the neighboring UPS store and I was hungry, so I decided to try this place. I only bought one item. I ordered their vegetarian taco. I got it home and it had meat. As I ate it I picked out the meat. I also called them. Later that week I got my vegetarian taco. It tasted alright. I wouldn't go back to get another.

Yelp
I have been going to El Rodeo for about 3 years know, and I must say. Very good food. I have had pretty much all of there food at one time or another. And it is all very well made and delicious . 5 Stars

Yelp
My parents love coming here, they love their tacos de tripa, I personally hate their tortilla but that doesn't make me hate the place. Their burritos and tortas are great, and to top it off with a large Horchata! Rodeo has been part of my life since a child!!
google avatar

Yelp
$1.75 tacos - sure the price can be beat by the (tons of) other hole-in-the-wall Mexican places in Streamwood, but there's something about this place that makes it one to remember. Maybe it's the boxes of unpacked bottles of beer stacked in front of the counter... or the collections of bottle caps underneath a bottle opener stuck to the wall... or it could be the jukebox that just so happens to play after you make your order... or that super smiley guy behind the register that waits patiently as you try to decide between tacos al pastor or lengua (tongue), then decide to get both. Whatever it is - it works. Adorable little place with phenomal tacos al pastor - very flavorful and a niiice helping of meat. I think we got one of each on the menu. Carnitas was good too - had a good crunch to it. Tasted a lot like Filipino lechon. Yummm. The paper menu has more options than the big menu behind the register, if I would have known, I would have grabbed a torta as well. Next time!

Yelp
I've been back here more than a dozen times since discovering El Rodeo and I'll be back for a dozen more. I'm usually the type of guy who orders something new, but after having their tacos and quesadillas, I can't get anything else. I love their Al Pastor tacos, served with the usual fixins - cilantro, onions, lime, and don't forget the homemade hot sauce. But my recent favorite is the Tripa, fried crispy unlike some other places. Not too greasy and packed with flavor. Cheese Quesadillas, woah are they addictive! The tortilla is hot, crispy, and packed with delicious ooey gooey Mexican cheese. I don't even bother adding any meat, it's just cheese perfection. I love this type of hole in the wall, family-owned joint, cooking up some great food. They've quickly become my go-to spot for Mexican in the burbs. I can't get enough!
google avatar

Catherine P.

Yelp
I am always on the hunt for a good Mexican joint. We have ordered take out from here about four times now. Never have eaten in but would totally would for a quick lunch. This is a waaay casual spot and the dining room isn't what I would call "appealing". The kitchen appears well maintained and I feel completely comfortable ordering food from here. My husband and I both much appreciate and quite enjoy how generous they are with their portions. Three taco dinner each taco jam packed with chicken, steak, pork, beef, you name it! They will allow you to select a different protein for each of the three tacos. We typically order double rice with no beans but I would say I do like the beans better than the rice. Sadly, I do not care for beans all that much. The rice is simply put, just fine.. It's not the best but it's fine. The tortillas are fresh and the meat is tender. We pay about the same for 2 three taco dinners as we do for two meals at Chipotle which is not intended to compare the food but simply the pricing. The quality of the rice and the interior of the restaurant is where they lose the fifth star from me. We will continue to order from here and support our local businesses!!

Yelp
Small and quaint restraraunt located in the heart of Streamwood. Great authentic Mexican food! We prefer the authentic "Al Pastor" (Pork) tacos with Cilantro and onion dinner. Our go to Mexican restaurant since it's authentic. Owner is very nice and personable. Small area to eat which is brightly lit. Easy access and normally plenty of parking in this busy little shopping mall.

Elda B.

Yelp
Always fresh, lots of value for your money. Try everything on the menu until you find your favorite dish, you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Abhay A.

Yelp
Fantastic strip mall Mexican place. Decent amount of seating, clean, and extremely friendly service, but all of that is secondary to the incredible food. I had a picadillo, chorizo, and al pastor taco, the Al pastor was great, but didn't compare to how flavorful the picadillo and chorizo were, they are not light on the seasoning here and I love it. The Horchata here is pretty solid, you can actually taste the cinnamon instead of it being pure sugar. The free chips and salsa are also way better quality than you'd generally expect at a cheap Mexican restaurant. All of this at a pretty reasonable cost (about 2.25 per taco), highly recommend.
google avatar

Josh M.

Yelp
I can't bring myself to agree with all of the other reviews. El Rodeo is your basic taco joint that doesn't deliver as far as the normal menu items but there are some surprises hidden in the menu. All of the tacos iv'e had from there tend to be dry and on the small side. The carne asada, carnitas, al pastor, and chorizo were just average - nice seasoning but both times just overcooked. Same thing with the burritos - just a ton of overcooked gritty meat. I mean they have a chance as long as they don't kill the meat more than it already is. So the diamonds in the rough are the tortas and the hard shell tacos. Yah I know its weird but the breaded steak (milanese) torta is a perfect combo of tender steak, creamy guac, and a nice soft roll. On the other hand the hard shell tacos (my mom wanted to try them) remind me a little of those crappy BK or Jack-In-The-Box tacos but 10x better. Fresh and crispy tacos that more than make up for the filling being a little bit dry. Short but sweet - skip the regular tacos and go for the hard shell and skip the burrito and go for the torta. You will thank me later.

Vernel M.

Yelp
They are selling mini tacos for $2.25 way overpriced for the area. I give them a one star for incorrect menu descriptions.

Lonnie P.

Yelp
My wife and I love it so much it's been our Friday evening date for over 5 years. I have order more than 70% of what is on the menu, and haven't been disappointed yet.

Yelp
Long time love of this food! Great family owned restaurant. Great people and they make yummy food. My favorite around!

Yelp
This little gem is tucked away between Hoffman and streamwood. I cannot believe this is my first time there considering how many times I have passed this place up. The ambiance of the restaurant is exactly what I would expect from a gem on the outskirts of streamwood. The would be a decent place to bring a small family but, I wouldn't recommend it for a large gathering. The food was beyond expectations and I could not be happier with my discovery. Everywhere I have lived I have searched long and hard for that go to Mexican spot that offered flavorful tacos with the authentic taste. The tripa tacos were cooked to perfection with the right amount of crunch and without a trace of burnt flavor. The chicharron tacos melted in your mouth due the right ratio of skin and fat. It still offered a bit of crunch and tenderness like it was hand picked from the pig. The lengua taco was exceptionally delicious due to the fact that they not only have the right combination of fat and meat but, their process of cooking the lengua reminded me of shredded pork pulled from a pig roast. I would highly recommend this place especially if you're into authentic Mexican food and I will definitely frequent this establishment more often.
