"Ir al mercado cada día, dejarte aconsejar por el productor o el pescadero, ir a visitar las fincas con las que colaboramos y el contacto con la gente que prueba el producto final. Todo forma parte de este proyecto en el que buscamos la sinergia con nuestro entorno."

"The entire menu at this sustainable, seafood-focused kitchen is gluten-free, and they’ve got tasty vegetarian dishes like the chilled ajoblanco, an almond-based gazpacho that comes with crunchy seasonal vegetables. The friendly owners pick up the daily fresh catch from Mercat des Peix just a few steps away, and whip up things like prawn tartare with truffle and white chocolate or the wild fish of the day in hollandaise. There’s a sunny terrace that overlooks the back of Maó’s cathedral, but if you can’t get a seat there, the interior is also lovely and full of bright, exposed masonry that gives it an old-world vibe. " - isabella noble

We had a lovely experience here! Certified gluten-free, this is a must for anyone that loves fancy dining and is gluten-free. Dairyfree adjustments weren’t any problem either. The service was lovely, the atmosphere relaxed and quiet, the food was delicious and beautiful and we absolutely love the eco concept and the many organic ingredients. We came for lunch and would certainly come back for dinner!

The atmosphere is nice. At first it feels maybe a bit clinical, but after a glass of champagne you definitely settle in! We were for the taster menu (1 fish, 1 veggie). The fish menu was slightly disappointing, it lacks flavour, and was a bit too “out there” with the textures and lack of taste, that although the dishes were small, you couldn’t manage to finish some of them. I wanted it to be more delicious, but that wouldn’t be the word I’d pick unfortunately. The veggie was much better, lots of hearty, flavourful, umami flavours and exciting takes on basic vegetables. The wine pairing for both was well thought out, however the wines sometimes overlapped, whereas we expected them to be different for each taster menu.

The place is nice and have a elegant and cool atmosphere, relaxing and chilled. Perfect environment to enjoy the conversation at the table. The food is just so-so. My monkfish was slightly undercooked, bland and the side was so simple and not well-thought (4/10), the octopus was really good and well served (7.5/10), the mackerel was salty (5.5/10) and the starter (gazpacho) was good but lacked visual preparation (6/10). The services was okay, but the owner charged us 4.5 euros for tap water (claiming they have a filtering system), but it is tap water in the end and Mahon’s tap water is not drinkable, and she argued with us quite rudely, which was wrong and extremely unprofessional because it was our feedback. The wine menu lacks some quality and it is overprice for the below average wines they have. The presentation of the dishes was nice, and the desert was good too.

Beautiful evening at El Romero in Mahon. The squid and tomato starter was so tender and the local Scorpion fish was equally fabulous. The staff are friendly, discrete and very helpful and helped us choose the gorgeus local wine. Highly recommend and hope to be back again.

We ate a spectacular dinner at El Romero tonight. Food, wines and service were all exceptional. Very refined and creative cuisine of the highest quality. Highly recommended.

The restaurant is in a lovely location in an old building, and is basically a fish restaurant. The decor is beautiful - really modern but exciting. Staff were lovely and very well-informed. We started with an Amuse-Bouche which was a nice touch. We shared a starter of cannoli which were delicious. My husband had the scallops which were amazing, served with little parcels of beetroot and artichoke. I had fish of the day which I selected Scorpionfish. The fish was ok but the rest of the dish was just … boring!! Especially when compared with scallops (my second choice would have been the monkfish and I wish I’d gone with that as it looked much more interesting!) Lovely touch to have a Choc truffle at the end of the meal! Would I go back? Not sure - it’s on the pricey side, and I have to say I was disappointed with my meal.

Most refined food in Menorca! This was the most refined and délicate to attention restaurant we have tried on the island. An inventif and original menu, with delicious locally sourced products. You will be as happy from the food as from the caring service from the owner and her sommelier husband.

We looked around for celiac friendly restaurants of which there are not many in the Mahon area. (We had a beautiful meal at two in Punta Prima). We saw the prices were a little higher than we normally go for but my partner said it's our last meal on the island and we should treat ourselves. I was very keen to have local fish before we left. So I went for one of the specials and my partner went for the calamari. At the start of the meal we were asked who was the celiac and if there were more allergies. I said banana. I got a smile and a little chuckle. I thought "maybe that's an odd thing to let them know of if I'm in a fish restaurant not ordering pudding" . So we waited for our main which was prompt. I looked at the "bed" on which the fish lay and I studied what looked like a banana slice. I asked my partner to confirm and he said it couldn't be so we called someone over. The gentleman confirmed it was definitely banana so we stated again we mentioned it. The lady said I never mentioned it. Due to the fact wheat hurts and banana can kill me I mention it even if it's laughed off. This scared me and I will admit I had tears in my eyes for the rest of the time in the restaurant. A replacement meal was made where the "bed" of vegetable was changed but the whole experience was now soured so on putting the fork down at the end we asked for the bill and left immediately.
