Where to Eat and Drink After an Adventure in Forest Park

"Close to the Linnton Loop trailhead, El Sazon is a gem too easily missed driving up Highway 30. Powered by soft, flavorful tortillas, the modest taco truck punches above its weight, with a specialty in fish and shrimp burritos, tacos, tortas, and even ceviche. Terrestrial proteins like pastor and chicken are tender and amply seasoned. The nearby 7-11 is handy for those looking for a broader range of beverage options, as well as a convenient duel-use stop for Sauvie-bound beachgoers acquiring a parking pass." - Nathan Williams

Food & Drinks - 4 Presentation- 3 Atmosphere- 3.0 (it’s a food truck) Customer service - 4 Value - 5 I work in Linnton, so I order food from here at least 2-3 times a week—and I’m not mad about it. I get disappointed when I order from other Mexican restaurants/food trucks because they don’t meet my expectations. Everything is fairly priced, their protein is well seasoned and you get a piece of protein with every bite up until the last bite. I would recommend this food truck to anyone passing by on HWY 30 or just looking for good Mexican food at a reasonable price. Carne asada burrito with rice on the side—that’s my go-to-order. And it’s only $6.50! You can’t beat that price going somewhere else. Update: Quality is still there; price went up a bit. Still supporting this wonderful food truck. The staff members are great, and hard working. They make quesobirria now for $3.50 each. Best quesobirria I’ve ever eaten; and it comes with a side of consommé and pickled red onions. Definitely worth the try if you’re in the area. Update: 12/6/21 Had to lower my four star to a three star rating. With the new price change…you’d figure the quality would get better, or remain the same. The quality hasn’t been the same these past two months. Asada is chewy—tough to swallow—rice is hard like it’s been frozen overnight, and then microwaved before serving it—lacking lots flavor—and stingy on the sauces. I really hope they see this review. I’ll still support this food truck with high hopes that they’ll improve. Update 10.19.22: dropping a star. This food truck has gone down hills. Carne asada is still grisly, chicken is over cooked—or old bc it’s tough to chew. Great customer service but I’m here for food. Food quality was soooo much better when the owners were around. I haven’t seen her, or her husband in over a year now. Will still continue to support, but not as often.

After the big winter storm of 2024, my apartment complex had El Sazon, come out. I liked watching them prepare our food in front of us, even if it did take some time. I don’t eat out much. I ordered 4 street tacos for $12.00. They were delicious.

Google
The chorizo breakfast burrito is probably the best burrito I've ever had. Owners are always fast and friendly. Two thumbs way up!

Google
Worst Mexican food I've ever had. I communicated how I wanted my food prepared and my requests were not even acknowledged. I ordered a pescado (fish) burrito, lengua (tongue) burrito, and nachos. The burritos were mostly tortilla and rice. Nearly no fish, tongue, beans, or cilantro. The nachos were soggy, and the refried beans, jalapenos were obviously from a can. The sour cream, cheese and tomato was complete trash as well. I asked for the burritos to be toasted on the grill, but this too was completely ignored. Don't waste your time, you're better off getting food from the neighboring 7-eleven next door, no joke.

Google
$11 carnitas burrito Should be called rice burritos Almost zero carnitas Dry rice and alot of it,beans and found a couple specs of carnitas.. No cilantro, tomatoes, nothing else which is fine if your actually going to put carnitas in it. We bought 2 same burritos and both were like this. The Pic in corner is beans not carnitas. Worst burrito I've ever had.

It’s sooo delicious! I tried the fish taco and steak tacos. The salsa is so amazing! I ate so fast that I forgot to take pictures!

Best tacos in the state of Oregon. Al Pastor was so good. Tortillas on another level. Amazing service, very friendly. I wish I could eat here every day.

Great little place located off of the road. Plenty of parking and a nice under cover space for sitting to enjoy your meal

Yelp
Love a lehit street taco! El Sazon serves them up hot and fresh. Your choice of meat - I do pastor - topped with chopped onion and cilantro, lime wedge, radish, picked carrots on the side. Perfection. Rarely do I eat lunch, but someday after my swim I'm hungry for something small and satisfying. And fast! Street tacos fit the bill. Heading to Sauvie Island to the pumpkin patches, I saw the sign for this truck and pulled in. So glad I did! In addition to tacos. They have all the norms: burritos, quesadilla, sopes, huevos ranchero, mulitos, nacjos, taquitos, pollo or asada plates, tostados, and even cheeseburgers. On Tuesdays, tacos are discounted a dollar to $1.75. Make sure to try the avocado crema, it's fabulous. Picnic tables on the side, covered and uncovered. Plenty of parking. Friendly service.

Yelp
Great prices and phenomenal food since they started!! Reminds me of food in SoCal Actually call for prices, don't ball park it before you get there. You're paying for beautiful homemade food so don't complain

Yelp
I've been wanting to come here for awhile now. I finally stopped and got an asada taco, carnitas taco, and rice and beans on the side. I asked for some hot sauce and they ended up giving me all 3 of their salsas. I'm glad they did, the avocado salsa was the best I've had from anywhere, I usually don't like it because it doesn't have enough flavor. Both the salsa verde and salsa roja was good as well, better than most places. I liked the chunky veggies on my asada taco and the beans were very good. Everything had good flavor, but this wasn't crazy good, but definitely good enough to try it again!

Yelp
You should change your hours to reflect what is true. I live nearby and get off work around 5-6 most days. When i come here hoping for food, it's literally never open, always closed before 7 which is the posted closing time on the truck. There are usually people inside cleaning up when i show up. I have only managed to eat here once, months ago and i come literally once or twice a week hoping for a quick taco. So it's clear to me your actual closing time is not what you advertise to be the closing time.

Yelp
It's a greasy Mexican truck. If that's what you're looking for, drop by! They're fairly priced and pretty quick, plus parking is a breeze. I'm a huge fan of carnitas and pastor, their pastor is solid but the carnitas are hit or miss-- when they're ok it's whatever but what they're good GODDAMN THEYRE GOOD

Yelp
Delicious. Was working in the area for a few days and had the Birria tacos one day and the carne asada burrito the next. Both were some of the best Mexican food I've had from a Portland food truck. Friendly people too

Yelp
Best shrimp burrito I've ever had, and I grew up in Arizona. I like to add jalapeños for that extra pop.

Yelp
Complete insult to the world of Mexican Food. This place couldn't be more disappointing. The salsa was decent, but the burritos and nachos were a far cry from anything worth eating. I would say this was the worst Mexican food I've ever eaten. Everything was soggy. They use canned or low quality ingredients. The refried beans and jalapenos were obviously from a can, pretty sad. There was barely any meat or beans in the burritos, mostly thick wraps of bread tortilla with rice. My money was stolen from me having eaten here.

Yelp
I work in the dispensary next door and must say this food cart is now a staple in my life. They always have high quality food with large portions. Way better than any Mexican food you could find in St. John's.

Yelp
I went here after a friend was raving about their Ceviche Tostada, and it was no joke, can't wait to go back and try some of the taco's but Wow, the shrimp was perfect and flavorful and done right, can't wait to try the taco's and other delights!!

Yelp

Yelp
We're staying at an RV park on Sauvie Island for two months and have quickly become addicted to this food cart. Delicious food, quickly prepared by friendly, smiling folks. We've had the street tacos, quesadilla, ceviche tostada, torta, and guacamole. All wonderful! In fact, just writing this has made me realize I need to go for lunch.

Yelp
Well on way back home saw this little food cart and stopped in for a breakfast burrito. Spot on great size especially for the $6 price. Great taste and great salsa. The young lady very polite and generous in the salsas. Will stop by again for tacos next time out this way.

Yelp
I I've ordered from this place twice with great success. Absolutely delicious food. 1 time I ordered and could not get what I had asked for. Other than that This is delicious food And I highly recommend it. Nice people too!

Yelp
My girlfriend and I got their Carne Asada burrito. We thought it was super good! The Asada was grilled perfectly, tastes just like how my father makes it! The tortilla was also crispy which was a nice touch. If you're looking for some authentic street Mexican food, this is the place! Affordable too!

Yelp
Nice addition to the neighborhood and worth stopping for. Very tasty food, good quality and friendly. Salsas are well done and a bit on the spicy side
