Five Restaurants To Try Near the Las Vegas North Premium Outlets | Eater Vegas

"If you prefer something more local than the food court, I favor El Sombrero for a Mexican brunch—highlights include a pork belly eggs Benedict smothered with chile morita hollandaise and a rotating selection of agua frescas—while dinner offerings feature fajitas, burritos, stuffed jalapeños in a bourbon reduction sauce and plenty of margaritas." - Krista Diamond

El Sombrero Mexican Restaurant

Google
The place is good and atmosphere is somewhat fine. Nothing to complain. Tables are kept clean and you feel eating at Mexico. Food-wise the taste is good. The only downside is that the price is really high. The presentation of food is good. Quantity is a bit lot for one person. If you want to share then it’s a good deal.

Google
This was my first time ordering from El Sombrero. I am unfortunately a DoorDash regular, due to my crazy life as a single female entrepreneur. THAT said, I’m a good judge. THE FOOD IS AMAZING!!! Not greasy, fantastic flavors with the perfect BITE. I’m hooked! 😍

Google
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! AND WE WILL NOT BE BACK TO ORDER FROM HERE OR TO EAT HERE AGAIN! I am a Gringo, but kind of an expert with Mexican Food and my Spouse is from Oaxaca, Mexico. We ate here Saturday,September 20th, 2025, mid afternoon; it was a 3rd visit over the course of a couple of years. Went to eat just before going to the Latin Festival Downtown. The food was good. The cost disclosures, honesty / transparency and consideration was not. Pros: BYOB,Good Food, ample chicken Server was friendly, attentive, but did not speak any English. Cons: We found out that the sopes do not come with shredded lettuce or with any avocado slices, after receiving our food. Server asked us, and said she could bring some lettuce and avocado, but did not relay that there would be an upcharge. Received check and there was an added charge of $3.99 Also was charged a higher price for the Sopes than posted on the menu by $3. to $4. each entree, without prior advisement. We asked to talk with the owner, manager or "Jefe", and was told he was not available on site. Server Lucie made no effort to correct the check, and was not accommodating. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY EATING HERE. See pic of receipt.

Google
Very disappointed with my order, first of all my Seasoned Chicken tacos was hard and dry and cold, second my chicken tostadas was beyond cold starting with the fridge cold lettuce no chicken whatsoever and to top it off $40.00 with tip and delivery. Food went to the garbage, I will never order from this location again. The only thing on time was the delivery. So mad!!! 2/6/24

Google
El sombrero has the best Mexican food around. It's 100 % authentic, it's always fresh, and the service is superb! The owners really make an effort to get to know the customers, and that level of caring shows in how they run their restaurant. I highly recommend this place for all the reasons listed above AND for their prices! Very awesome food, very good service, and at very reasonable price is hard to beat!

Google
After visiting Texas and enjoying the food there we were looking for a new place that had the feel of authenticity. Had the pleasure of trying them and we were very happy with the flavor and authentic feel of the food. Nicely done. The Alpastor taco was amazing.

Yelp
We waited 3 hours to get seated and get the food terrible customer service no apology or anything at all. Everyone who there before our party was served their food first and left before we got attended. I really don't recommend this place to eat in.

Yelp
Prices on menu don't reflect actual prices. What's the point then? They also have the audacity to charge $2.50 for a cup of water.

Yelp
My experience yesterday was horrible, my family and I waited for almost two hrs to get our food and we didn't even get an apology for the long wait or a complimentary item. I definitely don't recommend this place !!!!!!!!

Yelp
Review is on Customer service the guy at El Sombrero which is always there or answering the phone , is rude going to tell me there a up charge for switching corn tortillas to flour, mind you I've got food from El Sombrero 2 times before this , never was a up charge for the switch, I guess a lot can change in the matter of a 2 week span. I got food September 23rd & 25th of 2021 Any Mexican restaurant I've been to in my adult hood and I'm 35 years old I was never told switch my corn for flour was a up charge . Covid-19 got people charging extra on everything these days let me not ask for extra napkins. I understand charging for sour cream but dang, for the switch of the tortillas, then he's going to say I have to put on the notes, ok I understand that but I'm call you now just 2 minutes after placing order, if the switch can be done he going to continue to say I had to write in the notes. So I canceled my order took business else where thanks for nothing El Sombrero.

Yelp
Food was decent nothing special though. Chicken was super dry and the carne was nothing special cooked grey and super thin no flavor. Chips weren't fresh and salsa was what ever. El molcajete is 10 times better hands down. Go to El molcajete you don't be disappointed. I know Mexican food my girls from Juárez and I've ate in Mexico City.

Yelp
The customer service at this place was horrible. Everyone was rude and just stared at us when we walked in. Food wasn't so great and lady forgot half of the stuff we ordered. Do not recommend this place to anyone!

Yelp
I was told about El Sombrero by a friend of mine who is from Mexico. She said it's the best for authentic Mexican food. We were not disappointed. My husband and I went this Saturday night with another couple. There was a birthday party of about 35 people tucked away in the corner and the rest of the restaurant was filled about halfway with other patrons. We were seated right away and our server immediately brought us chips and salsa and asked what drinks we would like. She was also very helpful In selecting items from the menu. It was 60/40 in Spanish. We started with the cheese Flautas as an appetizer and they were amazing. We also ordered grilled cactus which was OK. My husband ordered the beef, scrambled eggs, Jalapenos and chalupas dinner. My friend and her husband ordered the shrimp dinner and steak and shrimp dinner respectively. They all came with rice and beans. Sticking with what I know I ordered Vegetable fajitas. Before the food was served, the server came out and asked me if I eat cheese. When my rice and beans were served I asked (the host?) if they were vegetarian. He replied yes and in fact the server had asked him about checking about the cheese because he is vegan. Our food came in a timely manner despite the big party in the restaurant. This is something that even bigger restaurants cannot always handle. We all agreed our food was delicious the servings were huge and the prices are reasonable. Small heads up, they only take cash. El Sombrero has now become our go-to Mexican restaurant!!

Yelp
This Mexican restaurant is located off the main road in Freehold and primarily caters to the local Hispanic population. We were tired of the other Mexican restaurants on the Main St and wanted some authentic Mexican cuisine. El Sombrero has pretty elaborate menu containing many dishes not found elsewhere. I had sopa de mar which was just amazing and is a meal by itself. My wife had shrimp fajitas. Food is not "Americanized" and is very authentic. We will return.

Yelp
My first review, this place sucked don't bother. The flautas were horrible. I can say this is the worst Mexican food I ever ate.
