El Tacote Tacos

Google
Saw this place all over TIKTOK so we decided to try it out. They are Zabiha Halal (the birra, asada and chicken were halal). Near CSUN, it was easy to find. The lady was very friendly and helpful. We got the tacos and they were GOOD GOOD. We’ll definitely be coming back to try the other stuff!!!

Peter X.

Google
This taco truck is pretty pricey. I was in the area and was craving nachos so I checked out this taco truck parked on Reseda in front of University Center plaza. I saw they had nachos on the truck menu but didn't list the price. I asked the lady working the window how much was nachos with asada and she give me the price. I asked how much was the nachos without any meat and she said the same price. So I didn't believe it was worth the price. Maybe I'll try their tacos next time and give an update. They take online order as well.

Google
Came to this place cause we saw it on instagram. Overall I would give it a 3 star rating. Nothing here was bad but it just wasn’t as good as some of the other places. I got 2 carne asada tacos, 2 al pastor tacos, 1 buche taco and a carne asada mulita. The red sauce was great, the green was a little different.

kim A.

Google
The service here is terrible. I called ahead and the lady was extremely rude on the phone. Then when my food arrived, it was cold, tasted bad, and to top it off there was a thick black hair in it. Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. I will never order from here again

Google
I have been coming to this food truck for almost a year and haven’t yet to come across such a scam. With a lovely smile, the girl at the front charges me $0.50 for a small cup with lids for sauce, which I consider a fraud. I have never encountered this kind of scam before. My advice is not to pay if she asks. It's not about the money for me; it's about the unethical practice and bullshit.

Google
Was driving by today and decided to try this place and honestly will not be going back. Being it was our first time we ordered a couple items two burritos, a quesadilla, some nacho fries and 3 drinks. The total ? Almost $ 80.00!! I never thought id be paying restaurant prices at a food truck they even charged me $5.00 for the side of onions and jalapenos!! Thats free everywhere else. this place is a perfect example of price gauging because of the location. Mind you they don't have their prices posted on their menu when you get there, and I can see why they would get no business. All in all the food below basic their supreme burrito which is $14.00 is nothing but rice and beans barely any meat at all.I could tell the ingredients were old and reheated not fresh at all. Thankfully we didn't order their fish items. Because as it is we all got sick. Save yourself some money and go to the chipotle next door.

Celeste E.

Google
This taco truck is nasty! I read good reviews so I thought to give it a chance. First off I placed my own order on their device. When ready to pay it was set up to automatically ask for a 20% tip! Not only is it overpriced but the food very mediocre and small in portion. The girl at the window not very pleasant. Stingy on their salsa. In case anyone cares, we ordered the loaded fries. Not very loaded. Not good at all. You are better off at a street stand. What a disappointment.

Timi O.

Google
Best taco and burrito spot in northidge. I usually get the california burrito ts is gas ngl. I asked abt their burritos and they hooked me up hella good.😳 10/10 great place 4 good eats

Yelp
Love this spot. Came across it through Instagram and absolutely love it.Great asada fries and lengua tacos.10/

Yelp
Really disappointed with the food here. I came on a Tuesday after all the social media videos I had seen for them. The lady was friendly, but they had no prices listed on the menu. You had to ask the price for each item. That in itself felt kind of shady to me. They also don't have any Taco Tuesday specials. I ordered 6 tacos, 1 nachos and 1 classic burrito and it came out to $50. I felt that was way too expensive for the portions. I will just stick to the 2 taco trucks I go to for Taco Tuesday. The one on Nordhoff infront of Lowes does $1.50 tacos and the one on Desoto infront of Walgreens does $1 tacos for Taco Tuesday.

Yelp
I have been to this taco truck a few times and it has always been a good option. These are good tacos. The service is generally pretty quick as well. I love where they are stationed because there is always a lot of parking, I don't see that ever being an issue here. My friend and I stopped by and ordered 2 tacos de asada and 1 taco al pastor each. They are good tacos but nothing special imo. The tacos are pretty small with what I consider a normal portion of meat for the tortilla size. The asada is lightly seasoned and cooked just about right. The meat texture was soft and missing a light crunchy factor (personal preference). It wasn't dry but it wasn't juicy either. The Al Pastor was decent, it was a bit on the drier side and the flavor doesn't come kicking at you, but it was good with the toppings. As you can see from the picture there is no pineapple in the taco. They used corn tortillas which were soft and an excellent pair to the tacos. You can't go wrong with either the red or green salsa here. Plus the limes they handed us were very juicy. Bonus points because the tacos are not greasy! I would definitely give them another shot and try some of the other items on their menu. If you're considering stopping by, I would recommend giving them a shot and trying it out for yourself.

Yelp
Came here to try out their salmon and shrimp taco. They have two tables and chairs where you could sit and eat there. Pretty good service, they were fast. First and foremost, solid size taco, two tacos is enough to fill you up, which is why I'm giving it a three star and not a two. Apart from the size of the taco, I'm a bit disappointed. No flavor in either the salmon or shrimp. The guacamole salsa, green, and red salsa no flavor. The chipotle aioli was by far the only thing in the taco that had some flavor and spice and made the taco a bit better . The tortilla was also a flour tortilla , hence the size , if it was a corn tortilla maybe it would've helped with the flavor issue. Perhaps the rest of their food items are better seasoned ? Maybe ? Idk. But the salmon and shrimp, hard pass.

Yelp
This taco truck is pretty pricey depending on what you order. I was in the plaza this truck is parked at and was craving nachos so I checked out this taco truck parked on Reseda in front of Northridge University Center. I saw they had nachos on the truck menu but didn't list the price which I can see why. I asked the lady working the window how much was nachos with asada and she give me the price which I thought was pricey. I asked how much was the nachos without any meat and she said the same price which shocked me because it's just chips and cheese. So I didn't believe it was worth the price here. They take online order as well and I couldn't find nachos listed on there, maybe I'll try their tacos next time.

Yelp
Their meat is super mid & their asada fries tasted old & cold & could've used more cheese/ guac & sour cream Their mulitas are a joke; super small & have no toppings; just cheese & meat inside, it's literally a mini quesadilla My husbands California burrito was good & the only decent thing from the few items we tried Would not go back
google avatar

Deja G.

Yelp
Good eats near CSUN. Service was quick and the asada fries are delicious. Pretty efficient ordering process but Not much space to eat near the truck so definitely plan for take out.

Laila M.

Yelp
I absolutely love Mexican food, and finding a place with halal meat options is honestly the best. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and made with care. I'm definitely coming back! I also love that you can order on the kiosk and also service was very quick!
google avatar

Dennis L.

Yelp
I got the Cali burrito and steak quesadilla. A Cali burrito has fries instead of rice and beans. I am rounding up from 3 1/2 stars. It was just ok for me. I think Casita Taco in Noho has the best steak quesadillas and this one doesn't really compare. I read several reviews that stated the burritos were huge here but it was similar size to everywhere else. I prefer Taco Llama for some reason. I will try their traditional burrito next time. Their chips were really good and that's what stood out for me. Check them out for yourself.
google avatar

Nina M.

Yelp
I love their food. Always fresh and very tasty. They are very nice and do amazing customer service. They are located right in front of Dunn- Edwards Paints. Nice location. Their queso tacos are amazing. Great place, great service, great food.

Yelp
First time stopping by at El Tacote on a Friday night. It wasn't packed and there were only 3 people ahead of us. We were craving for their Carne Asada Fries, Chicken Taco and Birria Taco. El Tacote definitely satisfied our food cravings. Hands down the best tacos and Carne Asada Fries in the San Fernando Valley. We really like El Tacote because not only do they have delicious tacos, nachos, burritos and fries they also have quality food items and meats with good price points. I've also noticed how consistent they are with providing excellent customer service. Their food portions are also on point. El Tacote is one of the many small businesses and food trucks that we love to support in the San Fernando Valley because not only are their food items really good, they are consistent with practicing quality and customer care.
google avatar

Yelp
Had a craving for some carne asada fries so of course had to drop by El Tacote and ordered the Loaded Asada fries! Takes a few minutes but they're quick. Food is made to order and well worth it! Danny took my order and was very hospitable and helpful. He introduced me to Boing! beverage. Yes I'm late to the party lol. Never tried it and Danny suggested the guava. Goes great with the carne asada fries. Not too sweet either. As always the carne asada fries were delicious. Fries were just right. Crispy on the outside and soft inside. Not dry like some spots. The carne asada was tender and very good. Thank you El Tacote!
google avatar

Marsha G.

Yelp
Wish I could give this place a better rating but it wasn't that great. The carne asada was flavorful. I got the carne asada fries, it literally had no cheese. The cashier wasn't that friendly, she had an attitude. Overall not a great experience would never order again from this place
google avatar

Hector P.

Yelp
Me and my girlfriend came in for some Carne Asada fries and everything was perfect. Danny took great care of us super friendly, professional, and made the whole experience smooth. Huge shout out to the chef too! The food came out fresh, flavorful, and the quality was on point. You can tell they take pride in what they do. Great service, great food, great people. We'll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Nothing like a food truck with awesome tacos! Looking for a spot in the area for a late lunch and there it was. I took a moment to review the menu, layered with several pictures of tacos and tostadas on the windows. The woman was nice taking my order. There are tables and chairs set up for eating on the spot. The plate is a great value, at $12 for a set of 3 street tacos with rice and beans. I also threw in a shrimp taco for good measure. All were delicious and hit the spot.
google avatar

Deron S.

Yelp
I've religiously supported this food truck, at least bi-weekly for the last 3-4 years. The prices have steadily increased but that's fine. What isn't ok, however, is the way I was treated by a new staff member who was obviously unaware of my consistent patronage, and was dismissive, rude as hell and wouldn't allow me to civilly discuss an issue about my order cost, or escalate my complaint to a superior. Unacceptable. I told her to her face that I WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN. She should be reprimanded and/or fired.
google avatar

Justine Y.

Yelp
I've been here many times in one week and once you try it, you'll know why! Important tip: If you pay CASH, they will not charge you tax NOR a cc fee!!! Wish I had known this before I paid with a cc my first time lol. They have 2 foldable tables with 4 chairs each right outside their truck. We prefer taking it home, though, and enjoying our food with a cold drink! My absolute favorite (and weakness) are their nachos! If you're about the melted queso, then this place is for you! But honestly, their carne asada is made VERY well! Super tasty/flavorful! Their quesadillas are huge! My son LOVES their shrimp tacos! So so good!
google avatar

Ryan H.

Yelp
Tried El Tacote Food Truck and the food was really good! The flavors were fresh, and everything was well-prepared. The steak (asada) could use just a bit more seasoning -- it tastes a little like ground beef -- but it's still tasty overall. Definitely worth checking out if you're nearby!
google avatar

Diana G.

Yelp
I just tried the Cali burrito today with asada, shrimp, bacon, and fries, and it was honestly amazing. The asada was perfectly cooked and tender--and the shrimp added a nice balance to along with the richness of the bacon. The fries inside were a great, adding a bit of crunch and making the burrito even more filling. Every bite had a little bit of everything, and it all came together really well. If you're into bold flavors and big portions, definitely give this a try. Service is was good, and they even had tables to eat at even tho they are a food truck. I'll definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Yuli C.

Yelp
First time and last time I order at this restaurant , the worse Mexican burrito I tried in my entire life , with a lot of French fries inside the salsa is just water , no flavor
google avatar

Roshy P.

Yelp
This is a review for the Asada Tacos. Delivery was fast and efficient. Packaging was neat and clean; however, using a foam plate and foil for take out is not the best option because food will get cold immediately. I put the tacos in the microwave for 10 seconds and they were good to go. The tacos are average. The meat was finely chopped and overseared . The toppings were fresh and delicious. Portions are rather small. They include 3 slices of lemon and salsa with the order which is a plus. The tacos are aesthetically pleasing. Overall, if I were a hungry student looking for something to eat between classes, I would be happy with the $10 meal. I am not, so I would rather keep exploring my taco options in the valley.
google avatar

Jerica M.

Yelp
I ordered the shrimp x meat burrito and it was a huge letdown. They put way too much lettuce and barely any meat. The shrimp and meat are all in the middle of the burrito that when I started eating it, I thought I had the wrong order. It was a big portion though. Wouldn't get this again.
google avatar

Brian P.

Yelp
So bad and such a ripoff. Long wait times, bad food, beans and rice feels a day old. There's nothing about this truck worth visiting for. Tried it twice, different items, never again. Big skip, trust me and others.

Brian G.

Yelp
We hire El Tacote for a school festival and they were amazing! They were right on time, ready for all the families and everyone loved their food. They were super nice, fair priced and we would use them again. THANK YOU!
google avatar

Algin G.

Yelp
Lately, this has been my go to taco spot since it is so close by and they accept card. Their prices for tacos are a bit high but the truck is there daily and I never carry cash. I will pay for my convenience. It is a taco truck so there is only outdoor seating. You can pay at the kiosk which is super easy or if you have cash you can order at the window. Your wait time and name is displayed on one of their TVs and it very efficient. 3 Tacos for $10-12 depending on the meat - satisfies your cravings for sure! Shrimp & Asada Burrito $14 - BOMB, huge portion. Would definitely get this again. Nachos - good portion, I would get it again - fan of their nacho cheese. Food is good, service is quick - would recommend if you looking for some late night food.
google avatar

Marlene M.

Yelp
The tacos are expensive ($3.50 each), they barely put any meat in our tacos and they took forever to get our order out despite us being the only ones there... I don't ever write reviews, but this pissed me off never again.
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
Make sure you check how much they're charging you they tried to over charge me $20 and my gf had to go on this app and check pricing and when we told them the mistake they still tried to keep $3 for tip? Wouldn't recommended going shady business practice.
google avatar

Pam M.

Yelp
First time customers....Best chicken tacos everrrrr. We placed a second order togo they were sooo good, very tasty and juicy. They did not disappoint. Thank you Pam n Chelcie
google avatar

Heavyn K.

Yelp
Salmon / Shrimp burrito way to fire. I was very happy with this trip. I asked for the sauces and they gave them to me this time. I'm very happy very delicious, nice and hot and fresh. I also wanted to add in that the ship is nice fresh. You can tell it's not frozen and it's de vined just the Way I like it
google avatar

Caitlin G.

Yelp
wow! I went here yesterday craving birria tacos and this place did not disappoint. It's a taco truck with some seating right outside of it so a very chill spot to eat there or take home. The food came out pretty quickly in my opinion despite them being pretty busy. I might have found my new favorite spot! Can't wait to come back again.
google avatar

Diego Q.

Yelp
To be quite honest, the food is not bad at all. I would consider to be quite tasteful. Too bad they rip you off. I got 8 birra tacos and 2 regular tacos for damn near 50$. Maybe the food would taste better if it didn't burn a hole through my pocket.
google avatar

Sophia M.

Yelp
The food was great! I came here for a fundraiser and the vibe was great. I wish there could be more tables, but it's alright! The service was fast considering how busy it was and I like that they repeat the # of the order just in case you didn't hear it the first time. I hope they continue doing that cause I appreciate that. It was near a parking lot too which was convenient for me to park and eat :)

Mariah R.

Yelp
The food is bomb!! Good prices!! And great service!! We came late and they helped me and my friends out with our order. They had to our food ready fast.
google avatar

Tina G.

Yelp
Service is great, they're very nice and accommodating. The food is They have a lot of vegetarian and seafood options.
google avatar

Benjamin G.

Yelp
I ordered el pastor tacos and they tasted like chorizo and onion never had el pastor like that so please if you want good review do better and the price for the size taco isn't worth it 3 extra small tacos for 10 bucks not worth it

Julio B.

Yelp
Stopped by. I'm local, seen the truck for a while. Nothing great about the standard asada burrito. Drove by plenty more times and no desire to pull over.
google avatar

Rocio A.

Yelp
This truck has become my go-to taco truck in the Valley. My favorite tacos are their tripas, al pastor, and chorizo although all the meats I have tried are good. The green salsa is my favorite to top the tacos.
google avatar

Arsen T.

Yelp
Great street tacos, no smell no ground meat authentic street tacos, been looking for a place that serves good street tacos for a while finally found it, i ve been ordering from here for a while Now, keep up the quality guys
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
Service is slower than a died snail, I ordered two burritos and a drink and it took 30 min. There was hardly anyone there. Very disappointed, and the food was mediocre.
google avatar

Heather W.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got to try! My favorites were the tacos and mulitas. They had a lot of flavor. The salsas and guacamole were very tasty as well. I really loved the tomatillo salsa. I think next time I will order an extra big container of it with chips! The chips were super fresh and crispy! The carne asada torta had a lot of potential but just didn't have a lot in it. It was a little flat. I also ordered the chicken California burrito, and I totally missed that it had fries in it. I'm not a big fan of fries or potatoes in my burrito so next time I would make sure I ordered from the supreme burrito menu. I did enjoy the shrimp burrito from the supreme menu. Overall it was very tasty with lots of flavor and I will be going back.

JC P.

Yelp
Food was great but the girl taking orders can't count. She describes 2 as "one and one". Haha then looked at me like I'm the stupid one here. Great food but hold up fingers when you're talking to the girl taking orders.
google avatar

Jared F.

Yelp
The food here was delicious. I got the salmon burrito and it was a very good portion of fish. Prices are a little higher than other taco spots but not too bad. The workers were very nice and quick! It is a taco truck, however they do setup tables outside if you do want to sit down and eat your food right away. Usually it's two tables with 5-6 chairs. There is a parking lot next to it that almost always has parking by the truck so you should be fine finding a spot.
google avatar

Al-kareem T.

Yelp
The food is good, but paying $3 to pay by card is a bit expensive. I'll pay cash or hit another truck going forward. Meh.
google avatar

Ann R.

Yelp
Love this food truck especially the fact that they are here so late for those late night munchies. I usually order their shrimp tacos which is tasty with lots of shrimps. I've also had their Salmon taco which was also delicious. The truck of clean, the area is safe, parking is ample, and food is delicious. A must try! *One suggestion is to put a number board on the outside of the truck so we can see if our order number is ready!
google avatar

Jacklyn D.

Yelp
This is a great food truck in the valley! Right in the center of Northridge and near CSUN. It is also open late at night for the perfect burrito and taco snack you need. They have a variety of meats to choose from and your typical burritos, quesadillas, tacos, fries, etc. I got the california burrito with carne asada and it was big and filling. It is a bit overpriced, but it was so savory and juicy, I cannot even get mad. Their carne asada meat is also chopped so finely, which I prefer! Their green salsa is also the best! Has a kick of spice to it. I pass by this truck all the time and I am glad I decided to stop and give it a try. The workers are nice and the food came out so fast. There was no line when I got there (9pm), but I am sure they get busy closer to opening time.

Bug G.

Yelp
The food truck has been coming to my sister's work every Tuesday and she finally tried a chicken torta for the first time last week and has not stopped talking about it since. She and I live an hour away and took the time today to go so I could see for myself just how good the food was. Danny and Juan were very helpful and quick with orders. Everything was so fresh and tasted delicious. I love the red and green salsa.

Aidan G.

Yelp
Ate at this taco truck last week before work and had to come back again this week to eat again! The tortas are very yummy and freshly made. I didn't even work today but made the forty minute drive so my sister and I could eat here again. Not only was the food great, the customer service is amazing. Juan and Danny are very personable, easy to talk to, and are amazing at what they do. Highly recommend this place to anyone

Andrew K.

Yelp
The burrito here tastes soo good There are so many burrito trucks out there but this is one of the truck thar actually serves a excellent burrito . They do so well, they also have resturant on the site of the encino.
google avatar

Michael O.

Yelp
Food was amazing ! It gets packed during lunch time. Not cheap but well worth the money. I tried a little bit of everything but the shrimp tacos, and the salmon tacos are the way to go when you want to change things up and be healthy. (Al Pastor, Cabeza and Asada were good)
