It was my first time visiting. Margaritas were good, great queso and chips. Very cute decor. Food was out quick and tasty. I got the steak chimichanga ,my husband had a burrito gigantic. He loved his ,mine was good though I'd of liked it a little more fried, kinda crispy, was still good and I'd definitely go back.

My mom took me here for my birthday lunch and we had a great experience from the moment we walked in. The waiter was very friendly. They have a lot to choose from. Our enchiladas were delicious! The hot sauce was mild enough for us to enjoy and the white queso was very good. We've been there a few times now and will definitely keep going back!

Google
We stop here when heading back from visiting family in Oklahoma. The food, drinks, and service are great. The bloody Mary’s and Micheladas are perfect and the tortilla soup is amazing! I can’t say enough good things about this place - highly recommended!

Google
I’ve always had a great experience here, but today some business colleagues and I had lunch here. We were seated in the bar and the music was really loud. May have been fine if it was after five and having a drink, but too loud.

Google
Second time trying this. The magonada was good. The toastaguac (tostada with guac) had an underwhelming amount of guacamole on it, but what was there was good. The fajitas were fine, nothing spectacular. I really don't like their chips and salsa.

Google
Place was busy on Mother's Day. We were given a 15 min wait time, but they seated us almost immediately. Staff was on point and service was great! Food was delicious! Atmosphere was fun and a little loud. I got the tropical fajitas that was served in a pineapple! It was a combination of chicken, beef and shrimp fajitas.

Google
The short - Food was bland and not worth the price. The long - seating time was very short. Table was still dirty when seated was wiped down promptly. Service was o.k.. servers were not very attentive. Some stood around and talked while others were stretched thin trying to cover a wide array of tables (bad management) went far to long on an empty drink twice. Chips were stale salsa was charred and is very bland, not much in the salsa (not much added in with the tomato's) didn't want to try the overpriced made from a package gauc that I saw being served and the queso looked very very runny. The molcajete was not hot leaving the food to cool off quickly and hardly any sauce in with the food.. the steak, chicken and shrimp were all bland (the cooks afraid to season their food?) Probably would not go back here again, was very disappointed 😕.

Google
Great food and service. Dog friendly patio. Salsa is fresh and flavorful if a little tame for my taste but certainly worth the visit. I'll be back.

Yelp
We are from Graham, but eat here when in Wichita Falls. The service and food are superb. I especially enjoy the habanero hot sauce on the tables, but I can't remember the brand. I want to order some on line for home use.

Yelp
Stale, store bought taco shells!! Plates were so hot couldn't touch them Food was warm and blah. Such a disappointment. Good salsa and nice server.

Alyna P.

Yelp
Great service and even better food! The staff was attentive and friendly, and the steak fajitas were full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend this spot if you're craving fresh, authentic Mexican food.

Yelp
Another one of those hole in the wall restaurants that I find on my travels north and south on I35, I44, and I20. Very good value for their quality of food. Good attentive service. However, as is common on off days when I frequent these places the staff is bored and the TV volume and music volume exponentially increases. Advice to management: monitor it and keep the volume down; Advice to customers: Bring your noise cancelling AirPods.

Yelp
It was Fathers Day Sunday, and they were busy! I didn't have to wait to be seated though. I was given a menu when seated, and knew what I wanted when server arrived. I ordered Dinner combo #3-taco, enchilada and chile relleno. The food came out quickly. It was very hot! Lots of cheese! Everything was good. I particularly liked the chile relleno. The chile was sweet, and it wasn't dipped in batter and fried, which surprised me. For $10 thus us a deal. Mexican food is pretty heavy and I couldn't possibly have eaten more. This is a great family restaurant! There is an outside patio as well if you want to sit outside. I would definitely come again, and perfect place to bring a big family!

Randall G.

Yelp
The food was not authentic at all , the guacamole looked and tasted like it was premade from grocery store bought in a bag , the beans were so runny like the squirts and nobody puts hotdogs in beans The enchiladas were bland with barely and any sauce plus I got the tri with green ,white and red sauce hoping it was chicken, cheese and beef when it was just all beef so I believe taco casa would be much better

Yelp
We have eaten here a few times and I've always felt it was mediocre at best. Some of their menu items doesn't make sense for instance they have chili verde yet can't or won't make a chili verde burrito or enchilada? You put chili verde in a flour tortilla and roll it up. Not that difficult. But last night topped it for us. My wife ordered chili verde and when it came it was cold, not warm but cold. We tried to get our waiter's attention but she was too involved with her friends that came in. Finally after 20 minutes she brought our bill my wife said I was trying to get your attention because the food was cold. It wasn't eaten at all. The waitress said oh I'm sorry, took our money and charged full price. Personally I have an issue with a Mexican restaurant that has all their tvs on Spanish. All employees only speak in Spanish to each other. It just gives a feeling of not caring about the American customers. I don't know why any business would want to cater to just a few and making the majority fell uncomfortable. If I were in Mexico I would understand. Anyway there are lots of other Mexican restaurants here and appears more opening every week. We are done with this one.

Yelp
Must order anything that is served with their white cheese sauce! It is so good! The waiters this last time were not the most attentive as times but food served hot and delicious.
google avatar

Farrah W.

Yelp
Bring me a brown margarita and you're getting one star and no I won't be ordering but the family did. Looked meh at best. The waitress was super nice and the place clean.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
If I could leave zero I would. Just ordered lunch and it was terrible the chicken enchiladas lunch plate. The tortillas looked raw and tasted raw. The chicken in the enchiladas was extremely dry and the onion in the enchiladas and on top was over powering. Beans were delicious though. Rice was bland. All and all save yourself and avoid this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Living on Refried Beans Please...for goodness sake....get you some of those refried beans. They are delicious!! I had an ice-cold Modelo Negra with Beef and Chicken Fajitas. The beef was a bit on the chewy side. Other than that, everything was amazing - especially the refried beans! I could make a meal on those darn things. Excellent service, too! Remember to tip these hardworking folks!

Cloud N.

Yelp
DO NOT, DO NOT, waste your money in this place, read all reviews, they mostly say the same things, food is pricy but only to get the worst most bland food you can imagine, it was completely terrible, like they tried to make it tasteless and cheap. AND THEN, the Margaritas was the worst, how can you mess that up, so watered down, NO FLAVOR AT ALL, Like water. this place is af the BOTTOM of Mexican restaurants in this town. just telling the truth folks, honestly, got money to Burn, go ahead see for yourself.

E S.

Yelp
Service was horrible. If you find a hair or some foreign object in your dish they'll simply deny it, it's apprehensively despicable. They may even blame you, if only the food were as good as the people who work there but I digress. The food was superb! The ambience was loud but a nice homey feel, a place where you can dance a little.

John S.

Yelp
My wife sent the wait staff away thinking I wasn't ready to order after about 5 or 10 minutes we just got up and left they never came back to take her order.
google avatar

Ashley W.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. Very clean place. Staff is attentive and polite always. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
It's edible, and that's pretty much it. I got a fajitas plate, asada plate taco plate and a taco, burrito I think enchilada plate. None of the meat had anyyy seasoning in it. Like no salt or anything. I thought authentic Mexican food was boasting with flavors. The fajitas looked the best and had the most potential. 3 tacos no seasoning, no onions, no cilantro the whole sha bang. The pico taste store bought as well as their red dipping sauce for the chips. My taco was wrapped in foil which made it soggy like cereal, practically inedible. Oh yea did I mention no seasoning on that either? Taco casa has a better hard taco oh yeah and these enchiladas and burrito, same thing no seasoning and the red sauce also taste very much store bought. Spent $47 never again. Cool environment and quick to make your order.
google avatar

Maggie Y.

Yelp
The place is clean and extremely busy most of the time. I love tamales but the ones I ordered from here are absolutely tasteless. There was no flavor in the meat (pork). I could taste the flour in the tamale. The refried beans are so pale, I think they add sour cream to them for creaminess
google avatar

Haleigh H.

Yelp
Great food! The drinks were great! One of my favorite places to eat at in the falls! The margaritas were great and the queso is my favorite!
google avatar

Ann K.

Yelp
They have some of the best food, and wait staff! Ask for Edith, she's great! If you like fish there Cancun special, it's really great, consisting of two large fillets of tilapia with grilled shrimp and a red sauce over the top and rice avocados and pico de gallo. It's excellent!

Bryan A V.

Yelp
Just went to eat there today 12/26/23 And ordered a tapatio parrillada for one, the meat was spoiled so bad... I talked to the waiter and he took the plate they comfirmed the food was bad and I was asked if I wanted to order something else of course I said no! I was already grossed out... they still brought my bill and made me pay for my food, the manager didn't even come to apologize...poor service would give zero stars if possible never going back!!!! The food is trash not anywhere near Mexican food!!!!save your money don't go there!

Donnie C.

Yelp
This is my first choice of Mexican restaurant. The food is very good and the service is great. My wife and I try to eat there at least once a week. We'll done. We appreciate you.
google avatar

Yelp
We are new to the area - hungry for Mexican & tried this place out. Set for over 15 min before we were waited on & ask for a drink menu hoping for a great margarita- only one type, tasted like a mix. The guacamole came - it was a pile of pico with a cute up avocado & limes on top. I tried to mix it to be more like guacamole but there was no hope. The beef taco & enchilada was not seasoned - as well as the chicken enchilada..,just shredded chicken without seasoning. The sauce on everything was cold. My husband's chili relleno was the only thing we liked. Probably we will not be back...

Kelly S.

Yelp
I have no idea why this place is always packed. There are a million better things to eat than here ! I keep giving this place a try thinking I just went on a bad day, but no it's always nasty. My last experience The nachos were on a place filled with liquid. Super strange and a soggy gross mess. I understand this is tex mex and not mexican food, but it really should be better. The guacamole is excellent. But overall the food is not just bland but nasty and overpriced.
google avatar

Tricia S.

Yelp
I was completely horrified with their service the first time they were rude as hell to me when I was eating there, and I blew it off and thought it was probably me the second time I went there. They were so rude that I didn't even finish my food I just left, the third time I decided instead of eating there I would order from the phone didn't even get to order my food. The guy was such a dick. He hung up on me. I tried to call back. He hung up again and blocked me. I was perfectly nice to them. Maybe they should think about having people who speak better English because if you can't understand what people are ordering, then that just build frustration on both sides

Yelp
Pure excellence!! Favorite tex mex in WF. We came with a large group, no wait. Cute place inside. There were some explicit music videos playing on several tvs that I wasn't thrilled about, and they happily changed the channel when I asked. I was so appreciative! There are lots of people around working, and everyone is really nice and helpful. Fajitas are my tex mex gold standard so I had to try. I shared the fajitas for 2 with my 2 girls and there were enough leftovers that we ate it again for dinner the next day. These were amazing. The meat was cut pretty small do it was easier to bite into and had more flavor throughout the meat. Wasn't too greasy or charred. Lots of peppers! The TORTILLAS. Home made. So good I ate one just by itself, all warm and chewy. The guac is so good and so plentiful. The beans! So creamy and tangy, is there sour cream in there maybe? The rice is fluffy and has the carrots/peas of course. All of it just so so good. Got frozen margaritas for the table, great decision. Tequila is not my favorite and I don't like sweet drinks. This was very lime forward and was very nice, not syrupy. I tried my dad's enchiladas and they were possibly the best I've ever had. Not mushy or too smothered, lots of good meat and the sauces had great flavor. There were 8 of us and the final bill was only $80!! I felt like we cheated or something, this was way too delicious for that price. I literally cannot wait to return.

Yelp
This place is delicious! We came on Saturday at kind of a weird time (in between lunch and dinner) and so it wasn't busy. The food came out fast and it was delicious! All the employees are super nice too. Fast and good service. Definitely recommend you come here

Yelp
We just moved to Wichita Falls and were looking for a go-to Mexican restaurant, and I think this is it! My husband got the Carnitas a la Mexicana and said they were really spicy, I agree, but they were really tasty. I had the #5- one beef and one cheese enchilada. The white queso was AMAZING! I also enjoyed a strawberry margarita (regular size) and it was perfect too. The service was a little bit slow, but it was MSU graduation day and prom for some high schools I believe. All in all, we loved it! Will definitely be back.

Emily A.

Yelp
I'm not sure where to begin. Tbh the locals have probably never had true good authentic Mexican food bc this was Tex max crap! It was awful!! I guess if all u wanna do is get drunk then maybe this is y they r still in business. And yes my review is very detailed bc it was that bad! Staff- 1. The hostess acted like it was a trouble to seat us. 2. The waiter was clearly the bartending also. Well that was stupid bc this poor man couldn't handle the entire right side of the restaurant AND all the restaurants drink orders. Plus he was so rushed he couldn't be bothered to answer the simplest of questions like whether the lemonade was yellow or pink. We also NEVER got refills on ANY of our drinks. Wasn't even asked. Never saw our waiter/bartender after dumping the food until we had to go flag him down for the check. 3. The busboy dropped off a water & tossed a straw our way landing it in the queso. Upon seeing this as he walked away he SHRUGGED. 4. We tried flagging down another employee only to have him literally walk past my husband as if he didn't see him Food- 1. The salsa was canned tomatoes with some pico. Very bland 2. The chkn enchiladas verdas was made with canned chkn. The corn tortillas had not been cooked. The beans had no flavor & the rice was stale 3. The fajita nachos came out covered in a cheese soup that made the chips soggy. The meat had no flavor either. 4. The tea tasted like nasty dish water!! Atmosphere- 1. And the best part, there was a bum sitting AT THE DOOR as we left. so glad I don't live here and expect this for a good meal. I mean my God how in the hell is this place still open??? Un-freaking-believable
google avatar

Rena G.

Yelp
The best Mexican food in Wichita Falls ( except Elnortenos makes handmade tortillas). But this place was better to me because the Spanish rice, guacamole and homemade salsa and chips were clearly superieor. Chicken fajita platter was tender and sizzling, well seasoned. Quesadilla was light and fresh. Toppings is were delicious. It is is impossible to complain about the cheap prices especially once one sees the portion sizes.
google avatar

Samantha E.

Yelp
Good food, atmosphere, and service. Love the chips and I really enjoy their enchiladas.

Yelp
Waited a couple weeks so I would not be so disgusted with this restaurant, but it didn't work very well. Friend and I ordered 2 dinners, delivered, and to cut to the chase, both were so foul smelling that we never even tried them. Came packaged in a round aluminum pan and when the cardboard cover was taken off, the disgusting smell hit us in the face and seriously, I was literally gagging. The smell was like spoiled raw poultry and something nasty greenish smelling. We quickly wrapped the stuff up and took it right out to the dumpster, so bad I did not want to keep it in my house to take back to the restaurant for a refund the next day. Better they keep my $30.00 dollars than y home and car smell like that nastiness!! Never again for this place, gets a negative five from me!! Too many good mexican places to waste your time and money at this nasty place.

Michael T.

Yelp
THIS IS NOT MEXICAN FOOD! I don't understand how restaurants like this are still in business. They are basically selling Taco Bell or Del Taco for a higher price. Don't believe me, try it for yourself and tell me that i'm wrong. Their chips and salsa taste exactly like the Tostitos chips and salsa you get at a grocery store. I would not be suprised if they bought it in bulk from Sam's Club down the street and sold it like that.
google avatar

Mark K.

Yelp
This was an excellent experience. I'll start with the food, which is the most important quality of a restaurant. I ordered the Carnitas are la Mexicana. The portion was generous, the flavors paired the meat and the peppers superbly, and the presentation was excellent. The prices were reasonable. The ambience was thoughtful and warm. The staff was accommodating and they graciously let me stay well after my meal was finished and yet when I was ready for the bill, the waiter picked up the cue right away. Classy place and I would recommend strongly that you might give it a try.

Shea W.

Yelp
Sat a bar for over twenty minutes and was not served. Tried to gain attention and was ignored by 3 bar tenders. Just wanted lunch and to watch World Cup.

Pat G.

Yelp
I can't give it more. About four of our waiters have been surper rude and it seems that they hate their job or maybe just white people. They don't write down the orders so they get it wrong often ( drinks and food). They charge for everything as an extra. Ask for a couple tortillas or green salsa to go with the five to 7 meals we bought and they upcharge. Nickle and dime you. They dont even deserve a tip butbthey upcharge. I loved this place generally but these two things make it hard not to just go somewhere more inviting. The first location is 10× better. El Tap original is filled with friendly people and better food. 5 stars for that location because they get it.

Yelp
This is our first visit here since e are from out of town, Houston, TX area. They were extremely busy. Chips & hot sauce are okay. Not great but not bad. The menu has a LOT of stuff on it. My husband & I finally decided on the beef, chicken & shrimp fajitas for 2. My husband ordered a michelada & said it was actually the best he's ever had. I had a frozen margarita & it was okay. The fajitas arrived & were SOOOOO good!! Carmelized onions, beef was obviously fresh. Chicken was great. Shrimp were small & a little overcooked but that's probably due to being on a hot cast iron tray. They could keep the green bell peppers but that's just me. I'd prefer red, yellow or orange bell peppers. Tortillas seemed homemade & were really good & thin. Pricing was very affordable. Service was great. We were happy to tip 20%. Restaurant is clean & brightly decorated. We will definitely come back if we are in the area! Houston area restaurants need to take note!

Ashley S.

Yelp
This place is awful from start to finish. The queso tastes like water and the food taste like whoever made it dumped a container of salt into the meat. I cannot give any feedback on the service because our waiter was basically non existent. And then there is the tragedy that is the so called margaritas. They tasted like pure sugar lemonade drinks.. and that was after ordering an extra shot to pour into it... no joke, they would of needed 3 more to drown out the pure sugar taste.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome food, drinks and service! The Chili Toreados is fabulous! Great atmosphere too!

Connie F.

Yelp
Food was great, service was awesome and food came out really fast. Restaurant was busy due to it being dinner hour. Our waitress was very good, we never had to ask for a refill or anything for that matter, she was always there before we asked.
google avatar

Alex K.

Yelp
What a place, if you are from Texas and know your Mexican food. Make sure you eat here. Great service even better food.
google avatar

Annelisa G.

Yelp
I give this place a 5 when it comes to to-go orders but dining in.. I give this place a 3.5. When we walked in the front door, the place smelled of bleach and looked very clean, but the bathroom was a different story. Ick. The food to-go is usually extreamly good. I highly recommend their carnitas. Today dining in we ordered carne asada. This plate had an overload of onions and the meat was really hard to cut/chew..however the homemade tortillas were spot on as per usual. We also ordered 2 kids meals.. Tip: if you have small children, bring their own drinks in a cup for them. The kids drinks are ridiculously $3 a drink..everything else was pretty reasonably priced. Our waiter we had.. He was rude and seemed to keep rushing us though our meal. It made us feel as though we were not welcome. Overall, i will more then likely continue to eat to-go but i will not be dining in again.
google avatar

Debbie S.

Yelp
Horrible! Hasn't changed a bit . . . Nasty dirty bar - service is non existent. Got tired of waiting for someone to come take our drink order so we left. Waiters too busy standing around watching soccer.

Yelp
I had reservations about trying this place due to how the previous conditions of the restaurant occupying the space were. However, the new business seems so constantly busy, that we decided it couldn't be so bad and gave it a try. Saturday afternoon, pretty busy. I notice they've kept the wobbley booths from the previous business. Every time you move, it moves! Especially awkward if someone is sitting on the other side. On the menu, i noticed they upcharge 60 cents for takeout and charge $3.50 if you're there with a party but don't order. Just an fyi. Ordered our drinks. Had 4 people with us. One asked for a coke that received a water (did not get charged for that luckily), I asked for a strawberry margarita and received a normal lime. I did however, receive the flavor upcharge for it. I do normally order a lime, so i did not even realize the mistake until my partner pointed out the mistake. By the time the drinks came we all knew what we wanted and were ready to order, but our waiter flew away immediately after setting the drinks down without asking if we wanted to order yet. We had to wait again for him to come back. Luckily after finally ordering, we all received what we ordered. The kids fries looked pretty good, albiet they were cold apparently. The beans were clumpy, and my plate had apparently sat under the heat lamp for a while as they were already baked onto my plate. I had a vegetarian order- spinach enchiladas, and somehow there was chicken in my rice??? Some things about the rest of the groups food looked questioning but i can't speak for them. We only go checked on once during the meal and that was for him to just barely lean by and say "was everything okay"?. With how long it takes to get anyone to come by the table, it just wasn't worth the time of pointing out any of the issues. We just won't be back by again

Yelp
As a person that is Mexican and has been looking for a authentic Mexican place here in WF El tapatio is the closest thing I can get to Mexican food. It's a very good place with great staff and a great ambiance on the weekends as well 10/10 recommend getting the enchiladas with the sour cream sauce.
google avatar

William S.

Yelp
Both El Tapatio locations in Wichita Falls serve excellent food. It's definitely not the common combobulated "Tex-Mex", but actual Mexican food. Ashley in Dallas may have a problem with this. Then again, Ashley may be a competitor who can't compete? Her description makes me wonder if she even at El Tapatio's? Folks, the salsa initially served with the chips is mild for a reason. If you want a hotter salsa all you have to do is ask. They offer a Green Chili avocado, a habanero, and a red chili. All three are nice and spicey, hot. Anyway, the fajitas are fantastic. The Chili Rellanos are the way they should be. Sadly, you won't find tongue tacos on the menu however, considering the rediculous price tongue has gone up to I can see why they aren't. The prices are very reasonable and the meals are large.

Samuel R.

Yelp
Stopped in the new location North Witchita Falls and so glad we did. Julio was our waiter and what a fine job he did, very attentive and pleasant, one of the best servers we have had. Now let's get to the food. We had Carnitas and quesadilla Texacano, the Carnitas were tender and had delicious burnt ends. The quesadillas were so large could only eat one and oh the flavor. Would stop here every time we come through.
google avatar

Lauren A.

Yelp
As far as Mexican food in Wichita Falls with an inviting environment this is the spot to go! Make sure to ask for the extra hot sauces! They are amazing if you like spicy! The chicken was cooked to perfection.
google avatar

Laura A.

Yelp
Was not too impressed with the Mexican food at this restaurant. The salsa was OK the cancel was terrible and the chicken enchiladas that I ordered just had no seasoning in the chicken which made the dish terrible. I moved here from Fort Worth and we have excellent Tex-Mex cuisine. The Mexican food and Wichita Falls is just different it's very bland so I'm not really sure how that needs to be fixed in the future
google avatar

M K.

Yelp
Pretty average Tex-Mex. Starting out, the complimentary chips were greasy, the salsa was tasty but not standout. Their chili verde is better than most, large chunks of pork. However, the chicken burritos were strangely aromatic, and buried under about a half pound of lettuce. Service was good.
