El Tequileño Distillery

We visited El Tequileño distillery on a Monday afternoon and it was perfect. Leo was informative, knowledgeable and so much fun! And of course, the tequila tasting was the best part. I’d recommend Tequileño for anyone visiting the home of the agave spirt, and most definitely recommend Leo for his knowledge and recommendations for other places to visit when you’re in Jalisco!

We visited El Tequileño on a Friday afternoon for the 2pm guided tour and tasting, in English. The guide was personable, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the entire distillation process. Our group was a total of 6. After the guided tour, the tasting gave us the opportunity to try the blanco, plata, reposado, and añejo versions, plus a new one that was being cooked up. We even briefly saw Master Distiller Tony Salles. Overall, great experience and would recommend!

Third time visiting this destillery and never disappoints, Erick was a great tour guide Sharing his knowledge about process and history behind tequileño brand. I'm always looking to bring friends to know this Mexico hidden gem. Salud!

We tasted this tequila in our home at Chicago so when we planned this trip we knew we had to stop here! The person in charge of our tasting was SO knowledgeable and taught us so much! The tasting included 5 different types and cost 300 pesos pp. We loved the quality of the tequila and walked away with a few bottles. Make sure you put this high quality tequila stop on your route!

This tour was amazing! Our tour guide Lionel was great and obviously an expert on the tequila distillery processing. He had the answer to every question that was asked which helped me learn a lot more about real tequila and not that garbage celebrities try to mass produce with garbage additives. I would definitely recommend getting the lunch package since the food was amazing! From the coke with tequila drink to the desert! Don’t sleep on this distillery.

If you're in Tequila for a tour, I'd suggest skipping this one. They use machines to produce their tequila, so the tour involves walking around in the heat to look at machinery. On my visit, they were filming a commercial in the tasting room, so after our tour of the facility, we were taken to the hotel for a free drink while we waited for our tasting. While a nice gesture, the restaurant was hot and not ideal if you have other plans for the day. Instead, I'd recommend visiting La Fortaleza. I'd gladly return with my family. They make their tequila the old-school making the experience memorable, and you can tour the entire property, which offers amazing views.

Feel free to skip this tour. Quite a few better options available nearby. Very industrial distillery and not to mention they don’t even age or bottle their tequila in Tequila. Everything is trucked to Guadalajara for packaging.
