First, the parking is really difficult. I came at an off-time so I was able to snag a spot, but I'm sure during peak eating times it's hard to find a place.
I came here based on the really great reviews and the great pictures other people have taken of what they have ordered. I walked in and had to work to make eye contact with one of the four people behind the counter to seat us. Once we were seated, we were given menus and asked what we wanted to drink. As far as alcoholic drinks go, it's $5 for a beer, the margaritas are about $7, and the mixed drinks are about $10. They do offer aguas frescas and Mexican cokes as well! They give you a little bowl of black bean soup and a tray of condiments that includes lime wedges, two salsas, cilantro, and raw onion.
I ordered the pastor alambres without cheese, and the description is pastor, poblano pepper, onion, and bacon across four tacos. My order came with a small bowl of diced pineapple on the side instead of on the tacos. However, my corn tortillas were all slightly stacked on top of each other with the ingredients strewn across them so I wasn't able to eat them as tacos. By the time I had divided the pastor + veggie mix across the tacos, they were soggy with the oil from the meat and were almost impossible to eat. They were good, but I just didn't understand how I was supposed to eat it and ended up just eating the insides with a fork because the tortillas didn't hold up.
We also waited a long time to get our waiter to come by with a to-go box and our checks. The service was very strange and our waiter never smiled, the food was simply decent, and honestly I didn't feel satiated by the time I left. I was hungry only an hour later!
I know other people love this chain, but I know I'm not going to be coming back anytime soon. I did read that they're open till 1AM on the weekend, so I'm sure it would be a great stop after some light night socializing.
