El Zaguán Mexican Bistro replaces El Sombrero in Downtown Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"Set to take over the historic Main Street restaurant space, this incoming concept bills itself as blending vegan, vegetarian and traditional authentic Mexican cuisine. Public details remain limited: opening hours have yet to be announced and it is still unclear whether the iconic neon rooftop billboard will be retained, but the project represents a planned reworking of the recently vacated stand-alone restaurant." - Bradley Martin

Excellent customer service and genuinely delicious food. This is some of the most authentic Mexican cuisine I’ve had in Phoenix, everything tasted fresh, well-prepared, and made with care. I was visiting from Germany and made a point to eat here every day during my stay because it never disappointed. A business that clearly takes pride in what they do and one that’s well worth supporting.

They just earned my top 5 Mexican food for their Al Pastor taco. The food was amazing, juicy and delicious. Service, top notch and friendly. Small restaurant but they should keep it that way because it’s cozy and beautiful.

A Taste of Home Worth Traveling For! Coming all the way from Texas, i have to say that this restaurant delivered one of the best dining experiences I've had in years. This truly cozy, family-owned spot immediately makes you feel at home—it's warm, traditional, and has so much heart. Let's talk about the food: it was absolutely amazing. The tacos I had were hands-down some of the best I’ve ever tasted, truly embodying authentic, traditional Mexican cuisine. The quality and flavor of the dishes here are exceptional. Beyond the food, the service was fantastic. Everyone was kind, attentive, and the service was both fast and genuinely good. It's clear this is a family operation that takes real pride in both their cooking and their hospitality. I would absolutely travel back solely for another meal here. If you are looking for top-tier, authentic Mexican food served with kindness, this is the place to be. Five stars isn't enough!

A nice little spot to stop in after my run and grab some breakfast. Had the chilaquiles which were absolutely amazing and the staff (maybe owner?) was so attentive and helpful. I'm visiting from VA for a conference and I really enjoy some authentic Mexican food since I lived two years in Guadalajara. The breakfast reminded me of my late Aunt Nina from Chihuahua. I miss her cooking. She would have loved this place!!

Charming little Mexican spot with authentic decor and a warm, welcoming vibe. The staff was super friendly and easy to talk to. Tacos were outstanding, and the sauces were a perfect match.

This is a fun little Mexican place near our hotel. We ended up talking with the owners about baseball, since we were headed to a game just down the street. Lovely people. Great food! Dave had a burrito birria and I had the flautas. Yummy! Loved the decorations too.

🌮⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What a gem! This cute, family-owned Mexican restaurant absolutely hits the spot. The service was warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in—everyone made us feel right at home. The food? Incredible. The tacos are huge (and I mean huge), the tamales are delicious and clearly made with love, and the burras… chef’s kiss. As for the margaritas? 100% legit. Strong, tasty, and exactly what you need to wash it all down. It’s also super kid-friendly, which is a big plus for our crew. You can tell the owners take pride in their place, and it shows in everything from the food to the friendly atmosphere. Parking can be a little tricky, but honestly? Totally worth the effort. Our family will definitely be back!

When you think of ramen, birria doesn’t always come to mind. It will now after having the Ramen Birria. Nothing less than delicious!! My nephew had their birria tacos which he let me try and they too were just as savory, crispy and full of flavor. I will be coming back next time I’m back in Phoenix. El Zaguán Bistro is a destination worthy of many visits to come!
