I almost don’t want to write this because soon it’s going to be impossible to get a reservation here.
First off, my partner has a ton of food allergies, and the staff handled everything flawlessly. Huge points for that. We started with a half dozen oysters, fresh, cold, and perfect. They came with lemon, horseradish, mignonette, and (by request) a little hot sauce. Simple, classic, and delicious. The heirloom tomato salad was next, and it tasted like summer. Juicy tomatoes tossed in a vinaigrette that was just right—not too salty, not too acidic. Definitely grab a baguette and use it to soak up what’s left on the plate. The fig and eggplant dish was a standout. The smokiness of the fig with the creamy eggplant purée was such a good combo, unexpected and so good. Then came the halibut, cooked perfectly. It sat on a fresh herb purée that tied it all together. I just wanted a little more of that sauce because it was so good.
We sat at the chef’s counter, which I highly recommend.
Watching the kitchen work while getting such great service made the whole meal even better.
Run, don’t walk. This is hands down the best restaurant in Mar Vista right now.
