French-style American diner with an all-day menu, plus a bar, exposed bricks & red leather booths.
"What’s funnier than a “happy birthday pensioner!” card? Absolutely anything. Including rowdy drinks at Notting Hill’s Electric Diner. This American-style, big red booth spot is a great setting for some serious hilarity. During the day it’s a restaurant with some very decent mac and cheese, but hour by hour it gets progressively louder and party-focussed. This is a great option if you want to start off with casual conversation and cocktails but end the night with dancing—without having to actually go anywhere. We’re very into the prosecco-packed cocktail, Payday, so get involved but keep in mind that it gets pretty messy on the weekend after 11pm. " - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, sinead cranna
"For when life has been all about that dissertation. Night out? Honestly, you don’t even know which month it is anymore. There could be a zombie apocalypse going on outside your window and all you’d be able to tell survivors is the correct way to Harvard Reference. Seriously, go outside and head to Electric Diner in Notting Hill. This American diner spot has huge red booths perfect for groups, a banging mac and cheese, and a prawn and katsu burger you definitely want on your table. It’s always pretty lively here, but if you’re after a chilled gateway back into socialising, watch a film at the Electric Cinema next door before dinner. Also, seeing as all of that nighttime reading has basically made you nocturnal, it’s worth noting that this place is open until 2am at the weekend." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing
"Nothing, absolutely nothing, connects people like loving and/or despising the same films. The Lion King was your ticket to friendship in primary school, and these days, your best mates know exactly how you feel about Kubrick. Electric Diner in Notting Hill is next door to the Electric Cinema, and you’ll often find people in animated chats about whatever film they’ve just wandered out of. But, that’s not the only reason this American-style diner is a conversation hot spot. Electric Diner has the combination of a lovely yet lively atmosphere, very shareable sides (shoutout to the mac ‘n’ cheese) and, a cocktail called ‘payday’ which could make even two paper bags best friends. If you’re not part of a Facebook Spike Lee fan club by the end of the night, then that’s on you." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing
"The Electric Diner in Notting Hill has a prawn and chicken katsu burger that you’ll want to talk about. During the day, there’s table service, but come evening you have to head to the counter to order. You know what happens at counters? Conversations, that’s what. They’re ordering the apple old fashioned, and so are you. Next thing you know, you’re all sat in one of their plush red leather booths showing each other pictures of your pets and/or nephews. Come midnight, the music gets louder and a healthy dose of dancing is encouraged. Also, if you happen to have caught a film earlier in the day at Electric Cinema next door, bets are that half the other diners did too. And, there’s nothing like a shared passion for Wes Anderson to get those Facebook friend requests kicking off." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing
"Electric Diner in Notting Hill is next door to the Electric Cinema, and you’ll often find people deep in animated chats about whatever film they’ve just wandered out of. But, that’s not the only reason this American-style diner is a conversation hot spot. Electric Diner has the combination of a lovely yet lively atmosphere, very shareable bits and bobs (shoutout to the mac and cheese), and, Monday to Thursday evenings, you get 50% off if you’re going to (or have seen) a film next door that night." - Heidi Lauth Beasley, Jake Oliver
