"After some adventuring, perk up at Elements: Books Coffee Beer, where you can sip the house-roasted PRIDE, a medium-dark roast benefiting Equality Maine. This place is amazing, what a fun atmosphere to be in. Wish there were more places like this in my local area. Super fun looking at all the used books to choose from, plenty of seating to get settled and cozy up with a good read! Elements has loyalty cards which I think is such a fun way to bring people back into their shop. Staff were really funny and relational which was a joy. I got a rose cardamom latte that was perfect. I love that there hours are late in the day not just early morning. They do serve alcohol, but I didn’t try it so I cannot speak to that portion of the shop.

Decent sized cafe. Latte great and on point. Large selection of books. Great for both locals and tourist. Would recommend.

Unique book store, coffee shop and bar all in one! Elements is a great little spot to grab a cappuccino, read a book and people watch in Downtown Biddeford.

Google
Charming bookstore and coffee shop. We enjoyed some coffee and a croissant. Coffee is delicious and baked goods are fresh and tasty. Staff is friendly and prices are reasonable. There is a restroom available, and you must park on the street. Of course, Wi-Fi available and an interesting selection of books as well.

Favorite cozy place to get a matcha and read a book. Also the book prices are great for readers. Always a great selection

The coffee is great, didn’t try the food, but what a great bookstore!!! So well curated! A really interesting socially conscious selection. If I lived here, I would definitely hang out on a regular basis.

If you’re into coffee, books, and brews or wine, Elements might be your type of place. This is hands down my favorite coffee shop in all of Southern Maine. I don’t even reside in Biddeford and will go out of my way to spend some time at Elements — that’s how special it is. I remember the first time I visited Elements last summer. As soon as I walked in, I was taken aback by the incredible atmosphere, extensive coffee menu, and wine + beer options. Seriously, we need more coffee shops offering adult beverages, too. The coffee selection is impressive and — the best part — with some of the best prices in Southern Maine. For instance, you can get a pour-over for $3, and you get to pick your preferred coffee beans. I haven’t seen many other places doing that. The coffee is served in beautiful mugs (if you’re drinking in) that make you feel like you’re at a posh coffee shop. Outside of coffee, you can also choose local beer or a glass of wine, both at excellent prices, too. And that’s exactly what I love about Elements — with what they offer, they could’ve quickly decided to be an overpriced and pretentious coffee shop. We’ve all seen those. But instead, they’re a down-to-earth and welcoming space for everyone. Lastly, the books! They have punch cards where you get one free book after a few purchases, and most of the books are all under the cover price, even though they are brand new. You can get books here at half the price (or more) than traditional bookstores. Elements… please don’t ever change!

Yelp
This is my favorite place in Biddeford. I have been going to elements for a few years now and I have never had a negative experience. My favorites for drinks are the london fog, iced butterfly pea tea latte, hot mocha, and Iced hot chocolate. For food I love the bagel with cream cheese and the homemade granola bars. I love going there and studying for a little while or enjoying a good book. I also enjoy the local musicians that come in and preform. Bathrooms are available with the code on your receipt. Free water is also available to customers.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place while visiting Biddeford. Luckily the original place we chose to grab a bite was not open yet. This place is truly a unique spot, offering a variety of delicious items and surrounded by a vast selection of books. There were also playing cards available at the counter. My friends ordered the berry oatmeal, cheese platter and matcha coffee. I had a croissant with avocado. I wish I lived in Maine just so I could frequent this lovely place regularly. I hope to go back again.

Yelp
Elements has always been my favorite spot to grab a coffee or study. I've been coming here for years now and haven't had a bad experience. The staff are friendly and kind. There's plenty of seating for everyone. I recommend this place to anyone that needs a spot to study

Yelp
I mean, it seems like Elements is a great place. They serve beer, wine and various coffee drinks amid a book store. They have plenty of seating and the staff was very nice. Here's the problem. There is a strong remote worker vibe here, meaning those tapping in to the wifi at Elements (for whatever reason), buying a coffee or tea and planting in that seat for HOURS! I understand that this is in no way an Elements specific problem, I actually feel really badly for the owners and staff of this business model. I also often wonder how they are able to turn a profit if so many customers take up space and wifi for 3-4 hours on the cost of a latte. Maybe they have a rigorous takeout business? Also, what is a business owner to do about this? I've seen a (very) few places post something, asking customers to limit their table time to one hour, but even that never seems to work. So...very nice spot, but I will be reluctant to return, unless getting something to go.

Yelp
Books, coffee, beer and incredibly friendly staff. Picked up a few books as well. Dropped in for lunch & a beer in the very walkable neighborhood.

Yelp
It's worth going to see. This place is really cute as a concept and it's one of my favorite places to do homework but the food is kind of lackluster. The people working there are pretty helpful and (when not crammed with people) it's a really nice spot to be. I also think they're so cute and creative with the decor and the presentation of the books - I have definitely found some good reads here :)

Yelp
This is clearly *the* place to be in downtown Biddeford! It was pretty much completely packed when I dropped in on a Friday afternoon. (It does seem like people camp out here, as another reviewer mentioned; I was mostly wandering around, but I did snag a spot at the coffee bar for a few minutes.) Love the space, with big open windows, high ceilings, and two rooms with bookshelves tucked in along the walls (but not crammed in, which is nice as it feels spacious and there's plenty of room to browse among all the tables). I grabbed a tea--they have gunpowder green, one of my faves--and when I started checking out the books I realized that most of them are overstocks and remainders being sold at an amazing discount. I managed to make it out buying only two: the Ruth Reichl classic I've been meaning to read forever, and the big hardback Milk Street cookbook for only $20! Oh, and some schmancy chocolate from a maker in Bath, because, well, do I need a reason? There are other Maine maker products (e.g. coffee, candles) and even a special shelf just for Maine authors. Super nice staff too who made me feel immediately welcome and also set me up with frequent flyer punch cards for both coffee and books--woo hoo! A good reason to return, and I'm looking forward to it.

Yelp
Biddeford s new edge embrace them This city has come so far. There are so many options now. All these businesses are giving all they have

Yelp
I love everything from their ambiance to their pumpkin bread. Elements is the only place I can find a Butterfly Pea Tea latte! I don't live in Maine but I visit family every month or so and I always make sure to stop by. The only critique I have is that they're always out of bagels, but other than that I have no complaints

Guillermo H.

Yelp
Very welcoming place! Friendly people, great coffee, and a perfectly toasted & prepared bagel (I got mine w/ goat cheese and tomato, but there are many options). Lots of small tables surrounded by very interesting book collection. Great place by yourself or with friends.
google avatar

Yelp
A bookstore style coffee shop with HUGE windows letting in lots of lighting. Order your tasty snacks at the counter to stay or takeout. The staff is super friendly. Peruse and or purchase something to read while enjoying your order. If you gotta use the potty a key hangs on a hook (attached to a big cooking spoon) near the register. The is in the main hall of building.
google avatar

Paula A.

Yelp
The best! Books, beer and craft coffees. Pleasant ambiance in downtown Biddeford. There's a shared building bathroom, attached to a utensil which was comical. Can be tight if crowded. Great food options, has a renaissance feel in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Eric S.

Yelp
This is a very cool cafe and small bookstore that offers a variety of books you wouldn't normally see (as well as a few familiar ones) that are super reasonably priced, along with some great drink options and even some nights with live music. I have only been 3 or so times since I don't live in Biddeford, but each time my latte is made perfectly and has a nice cardamom option to add which tastes great! I also like that if you feel like a craft beer or other options they have you covered. Friendly staff. Nice light from tall windows, historic brick and floors. Can get busy, but usually can find a spot to sit. We'll be back!

Yelp
Elements has been a mainstay in our lives the past 5 years and for good reason! The coffee, friendly staff, and refreshing vibes have made it a central part of the Biddeford community. I'm a big fan of their maple latte, but you can't go wrong with anything there!
google avatar

Yelp
What an absolutely fantastic little place! The coffee is excellent, the cozy little library atmosphere is wonderful, and - best part - the books are well priced. I expected them to be MSRP prices. Nope! The book I was eyeing had a $30 MSRP but, Element only asked $15, and this was true of a few other books I picked up. This place is a 30 minute drive from home for me but, the (truly) good coffee and floor to ceiling bookshelves full of books atmosphere is well worth the occasional drive out.

Yelp
Very friendly staff, great drinks, relaxed atmosphere, excellent place to read/study/work. We went three times in 3 days.

Sherman K.

Yelp
I love coffee and books, and this scratches both itches. Plus it's a bar! Great place. When I go to lesser coffee shops I always wonder why they don't do the elements model. Favorite place around.

Yelp
My first visit to Elements!! Glad the sales guy wanted to meet here. Right in downtown Biddeford on Main Street. I literally could spend hours in here and sip coffee and flip through books. There is a vast selections of small meals, coffees and a small selection of brews on tap along with wine. Book selection is conveniently arranged using "element" signs as in the periodic table. It's got a great vibe. I am looking forward to returning with my wife and her friend Michelle as there are a ton of books here as well.

Yelp
What a perfect addition to downtown Biddeford. Books, beer, snacks, & coffee... all of the ingredients of a great cafe! Although the place is relatively small and cozy, the selection of books is surprisingly impressive and well-organized by theme. We made a few purchases, and there were a few other books that we almost picked up (prices are pretty affordable too). The selection of books felt very personally curated, and the space lends itself to casual browsing. The best part though is definitely the beer selection. I had a can of the Marquee Moon pale ale and my husband got a hot cocoa (beautifully decorated!). Their menu featured quite a few local brews and a decent wine selection as well. We didn't try the snacks, but that's on the agenda for next time... There were lots of folks here studying, meeting up with friends, etc. - we actually happened to snag the last table, but my lesson learned is to plan for it to maybe be a little busy especially around peak times (we came in the early afternoon). Highly recommend this cute local spot!

Yelp
I'm a sucker for coffee shops, bookstores, and alcohol...so when a business embodies all three of these muses, it's utter perfection. Elements is doing it, and they are doing it well. I had heard of Elements for quite some time now, and they were arguably the first business to change the game in restoring Main Street Biddeford. For years I had heard people raving about Elements and what they are doing, however, I just never had the opportunity to scope it out until just recently. Elements lives up to the hype that is has gotten and continues to get. They have a variety of books on the exterior of the facility that you can read and buy. They also house some local goods for people to buy, and they serve a variety of coffees, local beer on draft or in cans, and wine! One Thursday night, looking to just relax and have a drink with a friend, we decided to go to Elements and it was the perfect place. There was a consistent hum, as it was populated by quite a few people, so it's not your typical quiet bookstore, however, it works in this case. There is a large wrap-around bar in the facility that provides a good amount of seating, but there are also various tables set up throughout if you want a more intimate experience. When I went recently, I was excited to see that they had Swish by Bissell Brothers on their draft list. I ordered it, and the barista/bartender was extremely nice when the keg kicked. I had a fairly large pour before the keg kicked, but he gave me my drink and told me that that pour was on the house to come back when I was done for a full pour. Elements' staff surely knows how to treat their customers, and it provides a unique experience for locals and visitors of the area. I highly recommend!

Yelp
Oh man these guys are the nicest people in the world, the food is amazing (I love the avocado toast) the drinks are incredible (I personally love the chai tea), there's books to look at and purchase, there's music to listen to, there's a place to set and focus on work. I hope to go again sometime. Needs to be more of these types of places.
google avatar

Yelp
Great for a hot or cold beverage tea coffeehouse with snacks bake goods and room to meet people or chat with friends. Parking lot near bye . The service is friendly and I got my tea quickly. To stay or to go !

Caroline K.

Yelp
This is a gemstone of a local business in Biddeford, ME. My mother and I went here for their second Sunday of the month silent book club. We have the people and atmosphere. Many unique readers joined the event. The staff members were friendly. My mother said her coffee was excellent and I attest that my ginger orange tea was soothing and flavorful. It was worth the drive.
google avatar

Yelp
Whoa what a cute place! Any play on the periodic table theme is golden in my book. I don't care much for beer but this place stays open late and that means you can have the warm coffee house feel without having to wake up early. It's one of the only shops with lights on at 9 pm and they have live bands come and perform. It's a beautiful space with people who really seem to take pride in their coffee. They have a nice variety of sweet treats and a nice choice of what seems to be high quality coffee. Variety of seating arrangements and options and the book lined walls are gorgeous. Come if just for the free ambiance.

Yelp
Secret bookstore across from the Biddeford Library, and next door tio Re/Max. I went when Jenna and Anne were playing. Everyone was so nice.
google avatar

Yelp
Got a 16oz Mocha and 16oz Caramel Latte, both were smooth and delicious! Always room for seating, and ambiance of the place is great. Great stop for a quick coffee stop (or a longer one with the company of a friend or a book)
google avatar

Yelp
This place is awesome came in for an a iced latte left caffeinated and happy. Great bookstore to peruse while waiting for your coffee. Excited to hang here and enjoy my next visit. Latte was good, staff was great, atmosphere was cool.

Yelp

Yelp
A great surprise in the revitalization of Biddeford. Coffee and beer bar with nice selection of both popular and local books of interest. Our party nibbled on the cheese and hummus trays and dipped iced coffee and teas while watching the world go by in giant windows. Clean, neat and yummy
google avatar

Yelp
Great vibe in this coffee shop. Very nice staff and perfect dirty chai to start my morning. It's also a bookstore and the offer craft beer and wine for those looking.

Yelp
Elements is my favorite coffee shop in Biddeford. Love their Maple Lattes, ambience and staff.

Yelp
Nice and a quiet place to do your work or read, good place to have a coffee, or a drink and a meal. Love this place.
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
My favorite cafe around here for sure. Books and coffee, what's not to love? They used to serve Bard coffee but now they have their own blends - including one in partnership with Barreled Souls Brewery. They have lavender and cardamom as choices for the lattes and a delicious chai latte.

Amanda J.

Yelp
Delicious pumpkin latte and a chill spot to write for an hour. Nice people and books had good prices.

Yelp
It's a pretty cool atmosphere if you are alone or with a friend. A friend and I went on a Tuesday afternoon and they weren't overly busy. The place is cute, trendy and seems clean. This place is not young-kid-friendly, which is fine...not every place has to be, but we got some pretty annoyed stares from the girls behind the counter, even though the kids were very well-behaved. The girls behind the counter were very unfriendly. Not one of them smiled one time during our entire interaction (or the entire time we were there) and, as a matter of fact, seemed put off by our questions. Look, I'm 40 years old and have been to a *few* coffee shops in my life, and they all do things just a little bit differently. Don't make me feel stupid for asking a question. The cream was empty, so I asked for a refill, and they treated me as though I were interrupting them. (There were at least 3 different girls back there, and only one couple ordering.) We got iced coffee. Average. Nothing special. But what really irked both of us were those paper straws. Paper straws are adorable for a little kids birthday party, but not for a trendy coffee/book shop. There's no way to leisurely drink your iced coffee as the straw breaks down very quickly. I would probably not return, even if I were alone or with another adult. The whole experience was just not pleasant. It made me not care about returning. Too bad, because we love books and coffee...

Madison O.

Yelp
I absolutely love Elements! The food is delicious no matter what you order. The drinks and the fresh pastries are divine. The owner is so kind and the other employees always give exceptional service. Always recommend and this is a perfect small local business to support!

Yelp
Elements is an excellent gem of Biddeford. How could you go wrong with Books, Coffee, and Beer? The space is super hipster but has a great vibe. I love the atmosphere and aesthetic. It's ideal for Instagram photos. The environment is clean and comfortable whether you want to go in to study, read a book alone, meet up with friends, or grab a drink and a bite to eat. There is bar seating, tables, and even comfy chairs in the windows in good lighting. I particularly love that they have a section of local Maine books available and lots of Maine beers too. Their daily soup creations are delicious, but they do sell out fast daily. They also serve bagels and other small plates, but their food menu is not overly satisfying. I would love it if they had some more options, especially hot ones for wintertime, but everything that they do serve is fresh and tasty. This spot even hosts open mics and special community events. It's nice to see them so involved. When I signed up for compost pickup at my home, I even learned that they compost with the same company too! I love to see a company doing environmental good, community good, and just generally being a really great spot.

Yelp
I had a meeting in Biddeford and craved some coffee afterwards, I stumbled upon a neat little coffee shop. At first you think it's a small bookstore from the shelves on shelves of books through the window, but its coffee shop seals the deal. Friendly staff, excellent energy, and a great place to work online (WiFi is strong). I would recommend stopping by if you're looking for a nice cup of coffee or to relax when reading a book.
google avatar

Dave S.

Yelp
Enjoyed my time here. They serve Bard's Coffee, which is great. I had probably one of the best Everything Bagels I've ever had. Lots of stuff on it and I was toasted perfectly. It a coffee place and a book store, so the layout and vibe is different than most places. It was a very chill atmosphere the morning I was there, which was perfect. There are tables, as well as a sofa and plush chairs.
google avatar

Yelp
Driving down to Dover, NH from Portland, ME - I needed a caffeine fix. Yelp directed me to Elements in Biddeford, ME. Had a bit of a struggle to find a parking space. I ended up parking a couple of blocks away. The coffee shop itself is really cool. It looks like a combination of a hip library and coffee shop - with lots of bookshelves filled with books - and a decent amount of seating. I noticed they do pour overs - so I ordered a medium dark roast pour over. It was worth the extra wait. Rich, dark, sumptuous, bold, flavorful. And provided my brain cells the caffeine they needed! Staff was awesome!
google avatar

Heather L.

Yelp
This place...it will never be less than 5 stars for me. It hits all the notes. Fun but relaxed vibe. A welcoming smile when you walk in the door. Chill music playing overhead. Strong coffee. Solid bakery selection to include some gluten free goodies as well. Pretty much your quintessential neighborhood coffee shop. Whenever I'm in town I always make a special stop in here. I can't resist! Honestly, if it were located in Portland I would be donating a large portion of my weekly paycheck to them for sure. Keep up the good work!
google avatar

Chase W.

Yelp
Amazing place to relax or get your work done! Awesome atmosphere and amazing coffee, they have the best medium roast I have ever had (Guatemala Cubulco) and they also have the best lattes too!! I highly recommend this place with no complaints. Extremely nice staff!! Shout out to the AM staff because I'm mostly their in the mornings. (Picture of a plain latte below)
google avatar

Danielle S.

Yelp
Elements is one of my favorite places to get some work done while I'm in the area and cozy up with a drink. Free WiFi and plenty of seating of all types. I found it easy to do a quick conference call in the space. It's also lovely place to hangout and read a books Coffee, beer, books, and science? What's not to love! Street parking is free and fairly easy to find.
google avatar

Kate C.

Yelp
Wonderful bookstore! We ended buying EIGHT books! The way it's organized really helps with drawing you into the different genres. They don't have Oprah's best seller of the month, but that's what really adds to the charm. They have the books that you didn't know you wanted but can't leave without buying. Definitely make this special place a stop on your trip to Maine!
google avatar

Jen S.

Yelp
Great coffe, cocoa and the chai tea is a definite favorite! Cozy atmosphere with a selection of interesting books. A quaint local spot to meet friends - usually has university students there studying. They occasionally have local musicians perform ad well. I personally dont drink beer, but friends that do enjoy the selection of local craft beers like Bissel Brothers.
google avatar

Missy T.

Yelp
What an awesome little place! I stopped by to get some reading done on a Sunday and was not disappointed. I got a giant latte and it was so delicious and I loved the latte art. The coffee is really good quality. Lots of seating options- comfy couches and chairs, bar seating, tables and chairs. I love that this place is also a bookstore. There is something special about being surrounded by an eclectic mix of books while sipping a humongous latte and people watching. I did not try any food but hope to next time I go! This is a busy place so I think seating can be limited for large parties but solo I had no problemo.
google avatar

Israa E.

Yelp
Great place to enjoy studying with a nice view on main st. Worth visiting while you are in Biddeford
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of my favorite coffee shops anywhere. I love all their coffee, the staff is always super friendly, their beer is great, and the atmosphere is perfect. Before COVID I would swing with my laptop and work the afternoon away drinking coffee and eating a bagel or some other delicious treat. I can't wait to get back to doing that!
