6 Great Places to Visit in Australia Right Now - AFAR

"Set thoughtfully into semi-tropical terrain, Elements felt like a grown-up, eco-minded resort where I could relax amid bird song and even spot wild brushturkeys around the pool and in two-bedroom villas." - Laura Dannen Redman

The Coolest Hotel Designs In Australia

"With just over a hundred private villas, Elements of Byron Resort & Spa is a modern take on the resort concept. There’s the requisite spa, of course, and a range of dining venues, the massive infinity pool, the indoor-outdoor cocktail bar. But the architecture is sleek and contemporary, low-impact and single-story, the curving lines inspired by organic forms — the striking central pavilion is modeled after the look of a windswept sand dune." - Mark Fedeli

"The name sounds like an undergraduate English elective, but Elements of Byron has nothing to do with Romantic poetry. Unless, of course, you’re thinking metaphorically — there’s plenty of poetry and romance to the spectacular setting of this beachfront resort in Byron Bay, a coastal town in New South Wales. With just over a hundred private villas, Elements of Byron Resort & Spa is a modern take on the resort concept. We had the most incredible stay at Elements of Byron. Our beach villa was absolutely stunning waking up to views of the ocean from our room was just magical. The property itself is breathtaking, with so much space and beautiful wildlife all around, making it feel both private and special. The pool areas were fantastic, especially the adults only pool which had such a cool, chilled out vibe (though it did get busy, which just added to the atmosphere). The swim-up bar was a highlight the food there was top-notch! The buffet breakfast was another standout. We loved the variety and the thoughtful touch of bite sized pastries, which meant no waste and the chance to try everything. The spa experience was truly divine beautifully designed, calming, and incredibly relaxing. The only downside for us was the food at Azure Restaurant. For the price point, it felt pretty average compared to everything else at the resort. Overall though, our stay was unforgettable. Elements is such a unique place that balances luxury with nature, and we can’t wait to come back next time with the kids to enjoy it all over again

Beautiful location surrounded by three unique ecosystems — such a special setting. Great facilities with a gym, restaurant, poolside bar, tennis court, and lovely bushwalks. It feels like living in nature! The main pool is stunning, and the adults-only pool is peaceful with its own bar. Rooms look small from the outside but are very spacious. I’d heard it was once more for couples, but it now caters really well for families and kids too. Only a short drive from Byron town — highly recommend!

A relaxing and invigorating place. Close to the beach, great spaces. Staff are very helpful, a shout out to Izzy who has always greeted us with a smile and with exceptional customer service. A must do, during a stay at Elements, is the morning Yoga session. Tara who is an excellent Yoga teacher made the experience all the more enjoyable! We will definitely be back, thank you.

Beautiful place that is well maintained within a stunning environment. Our timing was perfect as it was sunny (around 23 degrees most days) without the resort being at full capacity most of our stay, so not to frenetic in the pool area etc. The main pool is on the fresh side, so be warned that it can take some adjustment. The pool itself is absolutely stunning. Pool service and menu is brilliant. Awesome menu for kids (kids toasted sandwiches, chips, milkshakes etc) and brilliant options for adults as well, with terrific cocktails and tap beer etc. Breakfast buffet and setting is also first class. The guys at the omelette station do a wonderful job. Coffee is also very good. The machine that makes pancakes is also very amusing and a hit with the kids. Local restaurants are also world class. We visited a bunch of places for dinner including The Loft, Pixies, Tokyo Doll, Harry’s and Ember. All amazing places but we rated Tokyo Doll the highest as it was a bit more chilled but food was still absolutely amazing. Harry’s was also incredible with a super chilled environment and wonderful food. Honestly, very hard to fault this place (Elements or Byron Bay) and we loved our first visit. We usually visit Noosa but decided to give Byron Bay a trial. I guess we did get lucky with timing (however) as the staff mentioned it was going to get crazy as soon as we left, as NSW school holidays had just commenced.

This is definitely a place where you can relax knowing that the service will always be excellent and there’s nothing you need to do. We had a wonderful week and the food, drink drinks, and rooms were all excellent. The staff are always very happy and will drive you around in carts Although the walks are also lovely. I think it’s a great place for families with young kids, but we also had teenagers with us and they seemed pretty happy too. The kitchenettes are reasonable, although there’s no Oven, so I think if I came again, I would collect more food and cater back at the villa a bit more. It’s also easy to get into Byron Bay Centre via the solar train during the day or Uber. That makes this a great location I think for staying in Byron Bay. We did yoga a couple of times. It’s in a great location looking straight at the ocean and watching the sunrise. We saw whales and dolphins from this location. The only thing would be for any regular yoga people, it’s a pretty basic and relaxing style with not a lot of heavy work.

Beautiful resort. Two great pools - one larger one suitable for families, one adults only one, both heated. We spent a lot of time in the adult one which had private recliners, also a bar and food could be ordered there. We don't drink alcohol but did indulge in several rather pricey mocktails. Golf carts gave us a lift to and from the pool as the resort has large grounds and we were too lazy to walk - we were after all on holiday. The units didn't look that impressive from the outside but inside they were gorgeous. Only ate once at the restaurant - a charterie lunch which was awesome. A very relaxing holiday.

Yelp
I'm surprised to read the other reviews on this place as our stay was amazing. To start with I had booked us the wrong room- I had misread the floor plan and thought we would have a full one bedroom. We were travelling with our toddler and needed the separate sleeping area. I called to the front desk and had us changed within 30 mins. We upgraded to a two bedroom villa which was stunning and more than enough space for the three of us. The property itself is gorgeous. Very lush. Every morning our walk to breakfast was relaxing and gorgeous. The breakfast was fantastic and one of my favourite parts of the stay. They also have two pools- one is a quiet pool and the other more of a family pool. I appreciate this as then I don't need to worry about my kid making too much noise. All in all a fantastic two night stay.

Yelp
I really enjoyed staying here! It was really nice and clean. The rooms are wonderful and the bar / restaurant is fabulous. They have. A great pool and spa. The grounds are kept well and the staff are very friendly. The resort is very new and was quite quiet when I was there. I would give it 5 stars but the fact that the live music is only from 5-7 is pretty disappointing. I mean are you kidding? Did you not want to have your guests stay out late and spend money at the bar? They have specials from time to time and we luckily had oysters that were fantastic. Again, the service is really good with an international crew working this part of the hotel. The beach begins the resort is beautiful. You can walk for miles and miles and only run into a handful of people. Solid spot but they need to figure out the live music / entertainment part or this place won't last.

Yelp
This hotel provides a nice location, large bungalows and a great pool area, but that is the extent of the positive portion of this review. While the hotel touts itself as upscale, it has a long way to go to achieve this status. The service was poor, at best, due to the inexperience of the wait staff. On two occasions, our food came out prior to our drinks and we did not have silverware. The rooms were large but the housekeeping services were subpar. Even though we requested housekeeping, our sheets were not changed and new towels were not provided the entirety of our stay. In addition, our room was not serviced until 530pm one of the days. Until the staff is properly trained, I would choose to stay at another hotel in this cute little beach town.
