I have been living here for 11 months and everything has been great. It is safe and secure. My packages and food delivery have always been safe. Narumi, george, and jessica are amazing in the leasing office. Yesterday i put a maintenance request and the maintenance guy was there in 10 mins and fixed my issue in 5 mins. I appreciate the cleaning lady who takes the trash out and vacuums the hallways everyday. Im hoping to renew if my rent doesn’t go up much. Huge shoutout to elements team!

Google
Very terrible management! Bad experience! I had a very disappointing experience with Elements regarding move-out charges. I ended up going to court to dispute fees that I believed were unreasonable. Before the hearing—and again in court—they clearly stated that they would remove the charge related to minor scratches on my stove. However, after the court process, they added that stove charge back onto my account. That kind of flip-flopping is frustrating and undermines trust. If you’re considering living here, document everything (photos/videos, emails) and review your move-in/move-out inspection details carefully. I wish I had known how inconsistent the billing process could be.

I absolutely loved my time living at Elements. From day one, everything about this place exceeded my expectations. The apartment was modern, clean,The amenities were top-notch — the gym was always spotless, the pool area is nice. Leasing staffs are nice to work with always - all our concerns were heard and resolved mostly right away. They genuinely understand what tenants need and go out of their way to make things easy and stress-free maintenance guy is amazing he is quick and get things sorted in a professional way.

Lived here for 2 years and overall a very nice to call home. My son and I very much enjoyed our stay at Elements: Very helpful staff and fun resident events.

Google
Bad experience from pretty much from the start after moving in. They promised to replace some appliances which never happened and that blinds would be installed before moving which didn’t happen until 3 months after. First place I’ve been in where I had to argue about things getting fixed, obviously broken things kind of just shrugged shoulders. The sink was leaking from the beginning unless it was put in a special awkward position, was told just to do that instead of it being fixed. Appliances are old and out of date. I was on the street level, had a few incidents with people trying to open my door. During the summer there were cockroaches at the street level, ended up spraying myself to try to prevent them from getting inside. Noise level is also very bad along the Parkmoor side. Overall highly recommend avoiding Elements and looking elsewhere.

Google
The rental management is good, they were very friendly, and we moved-in without much hassle. The location is also good - just beside light rail, and a walk to willow glen. The layout of all the units is great. They're big and spacious compared to most of the apartments in the bay area. The appliances in our unit were a little dated. Probably from the early 2010s. We had some issues with the dishwasher - it left filthy stains on plates and silverware. After raising a couple of work orders, the facilities management agreed to replace the dishwasher with a brand new one. The facilities management was always very prompt, and quickly resolved any problems we had. Thanks to Jose and Jacob. The lighting in the apartment could be improved. Especially in the living area and kitchen. But, it can be fixed with your own lamps. We have seen some roaches in the kitchen, and we have been working with the pest control and maintenance to get it fixed. The pest control is always ready to treat the apartment , but, it's just a little inconvenient to prepare the apartment for the treatment (remove everything from kitchen cabinets, and organize again) especially with your everyday work and daily life. All in all, ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Maintenance ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Leasing office ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Location ⭐⭐⭐ - Appliances

Google
Overall, i am not happy with this place! Pro: Good and kind Rental Office staff Cons: Lot of hidden fees The fees will follow you even after the evacuation (askd to pay $3100 but was reduces to $900 after some back and forth.) was not worth the headache. Summary: good people but evil cooperation designed to make money out of tents in any single possible way!

Google
Do not rent from Greystar. We lived in one of their apartments for a year and a month. When we moved out, we were hit with outrageous charges that are far from reasonable or standard in the Bay Area. Here's what we were billed: Apartment Cleaning: $280 Partial Painting: $281.11 – originally over $400, partially “discounted” Carpet Cleaning: $190 – even though only two small bedrooms were carpeted Stove Top Replacement: $262 – for normal wear and tear, not actual damage Total: $1,013.11 We’ve rented from several other properties in the Bay Area and never experienced anything like this. I’ve already contacted the manager .Their reply is very unprofessional. If they refuse to revise these unjustified fees, I’ll be filing a small claims court case. Never again with Greystar.

Yelp
This place isn't completely perfect but the rating of this establishment is far undervalued. Let me explain. The neighborhood is safe. I've never seen a car break in here. (Circa 2025) You get a free parking spot, can't take that for granted these days. There is automated package storage system, and there's no deadline. I wanted to rip my hairs out over my last apartment that was charging me money for if I took more then 2 days to get a package (cough luxer). There's basically always staff in the leasing office and they pick up calls. There is SO MUCH guest parking it's ridiculous. Apartment is right next to the highway. Very easy access to local supermarkets, and dry cleaners (shout out Rex cleaners) and Indian food. There is round the clock security, both inside and outside the garage, doing regular patrols. Pretty big apartment layouts, the space feels really generous. Really really quiet. It's mostly families that live here so it's super quiet, and if you get an inward facing apartment you'll never hear the train or sirens or anything like that. Maintenance is pretty prompt and I learned after moving apartments that being able to call maintenance for shower clog is not something you should take for granted and it's free here! The very best part if you have an EV, first of all literally no one else that lives here uses the chargers for some reason and it's insanely cheap for residents, $0.18/kwh. Cons: right next to the most annoying train tracks in the world. VTA comes by like every 10 minutes honestly so leave 5 minutes early. But it's a small train so it doesn't delay too long. The hallways don't scream luxury since they're outdoor connectors so there's always random leaves around. All the amenities are concentrated in building 1 so if you live in 2 or 3 it's a short walk to get your packages or go to the gym. If you order amazon in the morning like 7-11am there's a good chance they can't get into the building and won't deliver your packages, the doors are only unlocked during business hours. The apartment appliances are not outdated but they're not modern either. The water is hard so your dishes will have many spots unless you orient them the right way. The Ethernet in my room was broken and the apartment and ATT never figured out who was responsible for fixing it. There's pretty slow data, at least for me on T Mobile. They still use old fashion keys so there's no app to let your friends into your apartment or anything. But they do have a buzz system that calls your phone that you can unlock exterior doors with. TLDR, don't believe everything you read on the internet. I very much enjoyed my time here and it's reasonably affordable as well.

Yelp
Fellow apartment hunters. I spent four years living at The Elements, from Thanksgiving 2020 until late 2024, & let me tell you, this isn't your average "pros & cons" review. This is a dive into what living here is really like, beyond the pretty demo units & the initial promises. In 2020, moving from a 30-year-old unit downtown, The Elements felt like a dream. Newer building (built 2009), close to VTA, seemingly great amenities, spacious apartments & a great pandemic rate. I even scored a larger place with a full-size washer/dryer for just $40 more a month. Gabriella, my leasing agent then, was fantastic. Unfortunately, that's where the initial shine started to fade. It became clear that "teamwork" at Greystar properties (who owns The Elements, & many other older, "should-be-affordable" complexes in our area after acquiring Alliance Residential) often means a cliquey, tight-knit group that, seemed more interested in hanging out & partying hard after hours than ensuring consistent, honest resident service. Every agent after Gabriella seemed to do nothing but badmouth her. My first year was a lot I was promised hardwood floors in my unit & ended up having to fight my way up the management ladder just to get anyone to listen. Fast forward to 2021, & there was a management overhaul. While the first manager wasn't great (just check other reviews!), the new staff seemed okay. Then Joseph O. arrived as Assistant Manager (which ironically has a review for the Elements & response from manager), eventually moving into the complex himself. Around this time, staff seemed to constantly shuffle new management, new maintenance, even a resident temporarily. During this period, The Elements seemed to unravel. The constant, negative reviews you see about crime, security issues, & non-working cameras? Believe them. They are 90% spot-on. There was tons of vandalism, especially in 2023 with a series of break-ins. It was only after these incidents that they decided to install cameras, which, ironically, always felt like they were more likely to be used against residents than to protect them. Don't fall for the glossy positive reviews or the beautifully staged demo unit overlooking the pool (with those sneaky painted accent walls!). If you're thinking of renting here, demand to see your exact unit. Seriously. Your experience will vary wildly depending on where you're located in the building. If you dare to paint your walls (even if they approve it), get that approval in writing, because you'll have to pay to return them to their original color regardless. My hardest personal battle here? Navigating life as a single mom, enduring constant noise from neighbors (even being criticized for trapping & neutering 12 feral cats to control the colony, something I did before moving out last November!). But nothing compares to the unimaginable grief of losing my 3.5-month-old child while living here. Dealing with that while trying to maintain my tenancy. Despite my unimaginable circumstances, their "sympathy" seemed to evaporate quickly when it came to rent. I fell behind, & I simply didn't have the mental capacity to take on a massive conglomerate like Greystar. They showed little care for my situation & still slapped me with late fees. It always felt like a constant uphill battle to get any fair treatment. Then, move-out. Get ready to be nickel-&-dimed. You'll be hit with charges for painting, cleaning, & more. My advice? Don't bother cleaning I paid a cleaning lady, & still charged. Even worse, I'm now battling a collection notice, I paid for damage my guest supposedly caused to a door that was never actually replaced in the unit (it remained damaged for over a year, even after the subsequent tenant left!). When I asked for proof of the repair & final costs, they went ghost on me. Now, they're trying to stick me with the bill. It feels like they stole my money, trying to strong-arm me into paying for something that was never fixed or applied to my account. Luckily, I'm confident I'll win with collections, as most places can't provide proper initial contracts or proof. In closing, transparency is a word often thrown around, but it's rarely what you get. There's so much hidden "crap" between you & the real story here. People will be people, but management's responsibility is to provide a safe, respectful, & functional environment. This place never truly grew into what it was meant to be. I desperately hope some of the genuinely good employees working for Greystar find better opportunities, and that this community eventually improves. Living elsewhere, it's a huge relief to not be micromanaged by a leasing office with their own agendas, to breathe without constant judgment, and to not have to avoid people or cameras. Do your research. Arm yourself with knowledge. Weigh those pros and cons carefully. If I could give zero stars, I would. Management, please do not contact me or message back a waste of time.

Yelp
Posting an updated review after 9 months of living here. I have required minimal maintenance and they usually show up in 1-2 days. I really appreciate the cleaning staff regularly cleaning trash rooms and vacuuming carpets. Only complain I have is downstairs neighbor is slamming doors and cabinets and I can clearly hear the noise but that's not the managements fault. Keep this in mind if you are sensitive to noise and loud bangs. Package lockers are very secure and mail room as well

Yelp
After 13 months of living at the Elements, I'm ecstatic that my time here has come to an end. This so-called "luxury" apartment is an absolute scam. I've seen many reviews praising Joseph O, the previous manager, who even wrote a glowing review about the office staff--ironic. During our initial tour, Joseph insisted on showing us the unit himself, claiming it was one of the best in the building. While the unit itself was fine (we lived there for 13 months), there were significant issues from the start. When we toured, I noticed the unit faced the main street and specifically asked Joseph if it would be noisy. He brushed it off, saying it wasn't loud, and quickly changed the subject to the "beautiful skyline" at night. (We're in San Jose--there is no skyline.) Turns out, it's extremely noisy. We constantly hear the VTA, VTA announcements, and Harley Davidson motorcycles revving at night (there's a flagship store down the block). The appliances were also outdated, especially the dishwasher. Joseph then showed us the lounge and theater room, giving a whole speech about how he sometimes waives the 500 deposits for tenants. Fast forward three weeks later after Joseph has quit, we learned that there is a $50 charge per hour for using those spaces. While that's fine, it's clear he withheld this information to pressure us into signing the lease that day. He also promised a second parking spot for free if we signed immediately, but it was never outlined in our contract. We didn't push for it, but it's another example of his lack of transparency. After the tour, Joseph texted us saying another agent had a client interested in the unit and urged us to apply immediately since the office closed at 6 PM. Having lived here for 13 months, I now know there are only two agents, one of whom seems more like an assistant. Was that another lie? Probably. Another major issue: Elements never transferred our information from the application to their internal system. This became a problem when one of our cars was towed for not displaying a permit, even though it was parked legally. The apartment never notified us, and when we asked, the new manager, George, claimed it wasn't their responsibility to alert us--it was a "courtesy." You'd figure they could at least alert us, given the fact that we paid over $3,000 in rent each month. Initially, we thought the car was stolen and asked about cameras. They said there weren't any, but later, the maintenance man sent crystal-clear footage to prove the car had been parked for over three days. On top of all this, the elevators and garage gates are constantly malfunctioning. For the first few weeks of living here, one of the garage gates was completely broken. Elements also loves to schedule pool maintenance during the final weeks of summer, which feels incredibly inconvenient. And the so-called security they hire? After 7 PM, they just sit in the lobby--hardly reassuring since they're supposed to be patrolling the building. There are so many luxury apartments in San Jose--don't pick this one. Elements lies to its tenants to get them to sign, and the lack of transparency and care is unacceptable.

Yelp
Overall a great place to live. Very convenient location, near downtown, Santa row and right next to willow Glen. Friendly staff and maintained building.

Yelp
Reasons not to live here: 1. Community towed my car due to them forgetting to input my vehicle in their system and received zero compensation. 2. Will have outside vehicles park in their lot with no pass. 3. Elevators and parking garages constantly breaking 4. Trash rooms are too far for more than half of the tenants 5. Agent does not specify that the lease is 13 months due to the normal 12. 6. Decides to close the pool during the summer for renovations and opens them up during winter 7. Agent told us the property was quiet. (Definitely not, you hear the VTA every 15 minutes) 8. They are located across a high school which cause traffic leaving the building 9. Theres only one grill 10. So many pet feces in hallways and elevators If you do decide to tour this location then be very forward in having their "promises" in your contract. We were promised no hourly fee when renting out the theater and lounge room and were promised a free parking pass if we were to sign on the same day. We signed on the same day and that agent left a week later to another location with his compensation.

Yelp
I lived here for over 3 years and I would recommend it for a lot of reasons. It's not perfect but nowhere ever is. The good first: The staff are great. Jessica, Joseph, Narumi, and Jose are all friendly and helpful. They do their best to make it a great place to live. There are community events. And they try to create a sense of community. The space in the units is fantastic. We had a two bedroom and it was great space. Huge bathrooms, great closet space, a huge laundry area with storage space, and even more storage on the patio. Our apartment got great light but was shaded in the afternoon so it wasn't too hot. We hardly had to use the central air and prefer fresh air so our windows stayed open. Less than 10 times a year did we turn on the air and even then it wasn't necessary all day. The maintenance team is great. They have changed a bit over the years but it's always been great. They are fast, friendly, and do a great job. We didn't have many issues with things breaking or big issues, just minor repairs. And it was never a hassle to fix anything. The bad: If you face the courtyard by the pool you will hear amplified, echoing noise anytime you have your windows open. 8am on Mondays you'll hear the loudest leaf blowers known to men. Then anytime there is someone at the pool, you'll hear every sound they make and every squeal of a child as if they are sitting beside you on your couch or at your desk during the workday. It was the worst part of living there. But it's nothing that can really be remedied. Just plan for it if you're choosing a unit by the pool. There are issues with car break-ins. However, I never kept anything in my car, and my car was never broken into. You have to be vigilant about not leaving anything of value or perceived value in view and you should be fine.

Yelp
I have been living here for 7 months now. The community is clean and the location is amazing. All the residents are friendly and the office staff is very helpful. I highly recommend Elements to anyone who is looking for a place to call home.

Yelp
As others have stated recently...DO NOT MOVE HERE! Crime, mismanagement, neglect, understaffing, grime & low value being top reasons not to. We lived at Elements for 10 years, one of the longest tenants and I saw it all here. Long story short, these "luxury" apartments have steadily declined over the years from neglect, high turnover, budget cuts, mismanagement & general apathy by Greystar. COMMUNITY: property has steadily declined since around 2018...they loosened the qualifying rules, the amount of people who can live in an apt (frequently saw bunk bed boxes in the trash areas) and just no sense of community...it seemed to attract renters who thought it was just OK to let their dog poop in the hallway, and someone else will just have to deal with it...you can't make this crap up. MGMT/STAFF: new "community" manager about once a year, and one time this person confided that the assignment is a way to get a promoted from a junior position because everyone knows its Greystar's dog poop property. The relationship between front office & renters always felt adversarial. MURDER & CRIME: after gang members moved in 3 doors down, a drug deal went bad which resulted in a shooting and dude got murdered at Elements. Constant car break-ins, bikes stolen, petty theft...mgmt promised to install security cameras years ago but never did. HOMELESS HIGHWAY: I once caught a homeless person bathing in the jacquizzi, and when I notified the front office it took them an hour to respond & confront the person. Renters would frequently report catching homeless camped out in the trash rooms or stairwells smoking that meth. The property is between the VTA and recycling center so this route can attract some unsavory types, in addition to folks just trying to get some extra cash. SMOKING: allegedly a non-smoking property yet zero rule enforcement when proof was presented to mgmt. Recently I witnessed residents openly flaunting the rules smoking on their balconies & even common areas like the pool. APTS: are fine but starting to seem dated in comparison, just your typical cookie cutter layout with little character. VALUE: property is 10+ years old now and shows it, yet they still charge $3K+ for 900 sq ft. one bedroom....you can do so much better. Again, do NOT live here...unless you're 23, have Mommy & Daddy co-signing, don't give a crap about rules and love to party.

Yelp
I lived in Elements with my husband and our two dogs for almost three years and I would definitely recommend living here especially if you're in your late 20s-early 30s. The location is walking distance to downtown Willow Glen and with the light rail station literally in the parking lot of the complex, getting to downtown San Jose/Campbell super easy. And SAP Center is one stop away to go watch the Sharks/concerts which was a big perk for us! The staff was always helpful and reasonable whenever there were issues/requests and the maintenance team was very quick to resolve any work orders submitted. The odds of a work order sitting in pending for more than a few days were low which was great. I would also like to specifically call out Joseph - he always went the extra mile to ensure our living experience was positive. There was a phone call/email sent by him if there was something to update for a package/work order issue. We appreciated his efforts during our time at Elements!

Jenn C.

Yelp
This is my second year living at Elements and I was surprised by how spacious my 2 bd/2ba unit is. The rooms and bathrooms are each large with plenty of closet space and storage. In-unit washer, dryer. Although there is noise that transmits from the courtyard/pool, I have never had issues with hearing any of my neighbors through the walls. People are friendly, the parking lot is secure and the management team is extremely helpful and responsive. Would recommend this as a great option for someone looking for a nice apartment with solid amenities without paying the exorbitant prices of some of the more upscale luxury apartment complexes.

Alma H.

Yelp
Over the last year, the property has made significant changes. The staff continues to implement, take action and deliver policies that are beneficial to the residents. Parking permit audits, security cameras, car charging stations are examples of the upgrades making living here a great place. Location, location, location! Downtown Willow Glen is nearby and you can access the VTA light rail from the property. The maintenance team is reliable and knowledgeable. The residential portal makes submitting payments, work orders and booking amenities a breeze. Thanks to Joseph, Narumi and the entire office staff for coordinating community events to bring neighbors together.

Angry A.

Yelp
2 stars because 1 is the lowest and I have had a positive experience with some of the staff and the location is pretty good. If you're expecting a luxury apartment living experience though, look elsewhere. The perimeter is littered with broken glass, trash, cigarette butts and huge dog/human turds that no one bothers to pick up or clean. Mexicans throw huge parties every weekend and litter shared areas with cigarettes, beer bottle caps and garbage. They walk through the grounds smoking and drinking and treat the place like they own it and no one keeps them in check. My car was broken into twice in the parking garage as homeless people frequently wander in and steal things or use the hot tub as their bath tub. Try to use the gym at 11 PM though and security will come and harass you and force you to work out with the lights off. Management doesn't seem to care at all about the state of this place as long as they have renters. This place has gone downhill this past year and probably will get worse. Will not be renewing my lease with this disgusting place.

Cliff C.

Yelp
Thought this was a nice place at first, after the first day attitude change, unprofessional when it comes to paperwork,I've sent email to send documents, but Jo failed to do so,had me on hold 2weeks blaming someone else

Yelp
I had a great experience working with Joe Olscik (Community Mgr) when I went into his office to inquire about a rental. I am a Realtor that helps clients find a place while they are waiting for their new home to be completed. He took the time to walk me through what was available and showed me the units. My clients got the perfect place and it was a very enjoyable experience, I will definitely send more people over to him. Thank you Joe!

Yelp
Don't move here. Period. Management doesn't care about the state of the property. And apparently neither do the owners. Maintenance does what they can but can't keep up. Trash rooms are constant problem, halls reek of dog urine, the carpets are always stained (office has been promising to replace them for years), and the quality of the tenants they rent to has dramatically decreased. Please see photos attached as these are regular sights you'll always see around the property while living here. Be prepared to be embarrassed to have family or friends over. All this can be yours for over $3k a month. Also, the boarded up door in the photos is where an altercation started between gang members (do they even screen tenants anymore?!). That altercation ended in someone getting shot and killed on Parkmoor (google for articles). They didn't even communicate this with residents until several people voiced safety concerns. They also fail to communicate car break-ins and other safety issues regularly. Until multiple residents complain, nothing gets said--and we've lately been seeing homeless people in the property regularly. Lovely. This lease will be our last at elements. Also: avoid mosaic and the standard as well. They are owned by same people and managed by alliance as well. Both of which are awful.

Yelp
After touring north of 20 apartment complexes in the area, our experience dealing with the folks at Elements was second to none. Due to an unforeseen event, we had a last minute cancelation of our tour and they were very kind in accommodating us. Shout out to Narumi in the leasing office for expressing genuine concern for us and for helping find a time that worked best for us. When we eventually toured, the tour was led by Joseph, who is by far the most cordial, friendly, and engaging leasing agent we have ever dealt with. From the thoroughness of his answers to our questions, to his infectious enthusiasm about the apartment complex, Joseph gave a candid tour and gave us great tips for getting a good deal on the unit we were interested in. After comparing notes from all apartment complexes we visited, Elements stood out for many reasons; the best of which was the cost per square footage of the units (their floorplans are huge!), and the infusion of nature in the courtyard which provided a zen-like serenity. We eventually applied and the process was seamless with ample communication from the leasing office.

Very lovely community , close to everything . Joseph , the manager here . One of the nicest guy he will go the extra miles to help whatever you need . I recommend this property

Yelp
The list of negatives with the property management for the complex is too long for me to spend the time listing all of my experience. Here's my most recent experience. My car was stolen on Tuesday (7/31/2018) out of my assigned spot in the garage. See photo for details of how the property has addressed my experience. The property is wonderful though.

Conlan K.

Yelp
Very poor apartment management & understaffed. General consensus in the community that the staff is incapable of remedying any issues within the apartment complex. Apartment cleanliness is pretty bad. Homeless people will be sleeping overnight in elevators. Elevators will be broken for weeks at a time. Supposed "Security" is nowhere to be found nor responsive to anything that happens. Tons more that would lead me to say it's not worth it. Only positives I can say is size of apartment & price isn't terrible.

Mudit J.

Yelp
The community is nice with good apartments and beautiful common area with good maintenance. However, security is a big issue. We had our locked bike stolen from the gated garage within first month of moving in and the community managers were very unhelpful. They didn't follow up with us or check the video footage or warn other residents of this theft. Instead pointed us to contract terms "Apartment management is not responsible for loss of property in garage. Contact your renters insurance." Looking back at older reviews it seems multiple people have had cars broken into and stolen from garage but management didn't bother informing the residents.

Neil G.

Yelp
A few things about this apartment. If you want quiet and security than this is not the place for you. Heed my warning. Do not move here if cherish quiet mornings and security. Examples: Starting at 4:30am the maintenance wheels the giant metal dumpsters, one at a time, to the garbage collection. This ridiculous activity is so loud it wakes me and countless others up in this building. It's unnecessary. This BS happens Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and randomly on Thursdays and Fridays. On Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays someone is always mowing or leaf blowing early in the morning. Also BS. My car was broken into in the locked garages 7 days after moving in. The bike cage next to my car had been sawed into. As in, someone spent time with a metal saw and cut through the bars to steal stuff. The bike cage itself has bike frames stripped of parts. unsafe. Do not store your belongings in there. A homeless person was sleeping in the garage next to my car. Homeless people jump the fences and do drugs in the stairwells. We've found drug paraphernalia on the floor. Hide your kids Hide you wives and hide you husbands too. The upstairs neighbors are loud. Ridiculously loud. Not really the company's fault but calling security has little effect on loud parties. Always call the cops. Security can't do anything. The Staff: lots of empty promises. At this point it's just lip service. No F's are given. Once you sign a contract the service changes. You are now in a binding contract. they Rarely answer the phone and it's always a new person. They rarely call you back. Im not being unreasonable. I dont do name calling. Im not rude. I just want some help.

Yelp
Great location, great quality of apartments. Community is pretty safe too. We have been here almost 3 years and haven't had any major issues - the AC is wonderful, washer and dryer in unit are big, the stainless steel appliances are great too! We use the pool weekly & love how it's not crowded because most of the community work for the Silicon Valley companies. *UPDATE* Things have gone seriously downhill. Our car has been broken into 3 times, the car next to us was flat out stolen, a man was shot and killed in the apartment above us and apparently there was no record on file of who actually lived in the apartment. Homeless people bathe in the hot tubs and shower in the locker room showers....and they want you to pay upwards of $3,200 a month for these experiences. Packages stolen from in front of apartments even though the property is "secured". It's a shame, because the apartments themselves are actually pretty nice. It's just the environment, neighborhood & management that make this place a nightmare. Save yourself money in the long run - don't rent here.

Yelp
I don't live here but am a frequent visitor and seriously wish that the person living here would move out ASAP so I don't have to come here anymore. 1. Entire perimeter of the apartment building is lined with dog poop that people don't pick up. 2. Inconsiderate neighbors who use the lounge to blast music every week. One time, a party (with music blasting) was held in that lounge by Joe, who works in the front office, who doesn't even live there. Any apartment near the lounge, above or below the lounge, the floor vibrates and the dishes rattle and the dog paces back and forth and vomits from the anxiety caused by the inconsiderate people who live here and work here. Imagine wanting to take a nap, but you can't because your floor is vibrating and music is blasting. Imagine wanting to watch TV, but you can't hear it over the music. Complaints go without any action to resolve issues. 3. Person who works in the leasing office mentioned above vindictively had my car towed for an expired registration sticker. Which is illegal. Not a valid reason to tow a visitor's car that is parked in a visitor's spot. Good thing the towing company didn't charge me anything or I would be taking the towing company and elements (for authorizing the tow) to court for 2-4x the amount. Asked for video footage of the tow, since I have an AWD vehicle and it was literally parked right in front of the entrance. No follow up. 4. There is nowhere to park as a visitor. Residents avoid paying for parking and park in visitor spots for extended periods of time. Visitors have nowhere to park. Sometimes they park in resident spots. Then residents don't have anywhere to park. Conclusion There is so much more about this place that I don't know since I don't live here. I genuinely feel so bad for anyone who has to live here and put up with inconsiderate neighbors and a leasing office/property manager that is useless. Every time I see someone in the leasing office interested in living here, I want to tell them to RUN. And you know what? I don't know why I'm holding back. I'm going to start popping my head in the leasing office and yelling "DON'T LIVE HERE". If you live here, you could probably terminate your lease early (without penalty or fees) due to inhabitable conditions per California Civil Code Section 1942. Good luck.

Yelp
My family and I were going to move in here in February. We were all set to go, but we wanted to see our actual unit instead of just the model one. We kept calling elements to schedule to see our unit. It seemed they didn't care for us as customers cuz they would keep giving us the runaround saying it wasn't ready but well "call u by the end of the day" and would never call. We kept having to follow up. This went on everyday for about 3-4 days and we were going to move in soon, were getting stressed cuz we still hadn't seen our actual unit. I had finally complained about it saying they kept giving me the runaround and magically 5 minutes received a call saying "oh ya it'll be ready tomorrow for u to look at" after I finally complained about their lack of follow up. The girl we kept talking to also kept trying to say it wake her fault when we know her name and know it was only 2 individuals we kept talking to. So we canceled our move in because if this is how we were treated before the move in, Who knows how we would be treated when we were actual tenants and needed something to be fixed or attended to. The next problem now was we wanted our $600 deposit refunded. This was a whole other headache. We kept calling, emailing, they had no manager nor supervisor that could assist me. It took 2 months for us to get our $600 back and that Is only because I NAGGED them about it til they did it. Probably would have not gotten it back had I not kept following up. Poor communication and customer service. Would never live here.

Yelp
The apartment complex has very spacious units and up-to-date appliances. It also has a lot of amenities such as a lounge, theater, pool area, and gym. Plus the location is very accessible. We rented the lounge and it was roomy with a modern luxurious design. The space is big enough to accommodate 30 guests or more which made our party more fun and inviting. We also like the fact that the space includes a restroom and kitchen for more accessibility and convenience. The admin staff are also very helpful and accommodating to our requests and made sure the lounge was ready for us to setup for the party. And lastly, the rent is affordable compared to other lounges which was an important factor for us!

Yelp
I've already posted a review. But here's another one. My door when I moved in a month ago, had a loose handle and wasn't locking properly. Someone supposedly came to fix it. No one told me or reached out. No one said anything to me about it. Our ice machine broke. And when someone came to fix it I asked about the door he said the door looks like someone tried to break in because the lock was off center. Then the wind (when all the heavy winds we were having), we had to windows open and it slammed the door shut and cracked the door frame. They're saying that it is our fault and I'll have to pay for it even though they never fixed the lock. And they're saying someone came to fix it but how would they have gotten into the apartment if I never gave them permission to enter? It isn't making sense and they just want to take your money.

Yelp
I love it here. The staff is very prompt at responding and attentive to anything that needs fixing. My apt is clean and quiet. The pool and Jacuzzi are really nice and large always functioning. Gym is very nice and they have a theater. I found this place to have the best compromise of rent and facilities and location convenience

Yelp
Girlfriend got cussed out by the receptionist for asking a a question. Don't think i will be renting from here any more.

Yelp
Well our car got broken into for a second time in the last two months. Staff will not help you.

Yelp
Very bad experience from start to finish; could not wait for the lease to expire. Parking is a huge problem, my car got towed right after I moved in, garage is totally unsafe, people tried to steal my truck the first night I parked it inside. My wife car was broken in and nobody could help with any video footage. Stuff takes forever to respond to maintenance requests; refrigerator broke two times in 11 months. Stay away if you can.

Christian S.

Yelp
I've been living here for a year and really love the aesthetics They're quick to respond to maintenance tickets and Jo at the front desk is super helpful and really cares about the tenants.

Yelp
I have been living at the Elements Apartments for the past three years. It is apparent to me that the new office staff is more involved and cares more about the tenants than any previous office team. In my opinion the reason for the recent negative reviews is that the residents are not wanting to comply with the community rules such as parking, security audits and cleaning up after their own pets. I see the staff always working hard, cleaning up after the resident's messes. They have been amazing with their communication skills. I have seen much improvement and I feel they are not getting the credit that they deserve. Shout out to them; Thank you for all your hard work and your eagerness to please. Keep up the good work. E Y

Yelp
I moved into the Elements almost 2 years ago. The apartments are well appointed. The pool, weight room and grounds are kept clean and beautiful. When you tour the facility, you notice how upscale the building is and that it also seems to have good security measures for being very close to downtown SJ. The people who live there are nice as could be. Unfortunately, there were many issues with security and management that lowers the score from great to not so good, among them: Like the other reviews will tell you, bicycles and other personal items are stolen often. This January, my scooter disappeared from the gated, monitored garage... When I reported my scooter missing, Cindy, the manager, waited 3 weeks to tell me that the security cameras were not on, were never on, and would not be any help. No security cameras (I was told were on and monitored on my initial tour), meant my insurance would not cover the loss. No apology, no acknowledgement, no reparation. That it happened was crappy, the way it handled? Super-crappy. I'll leave a lot of the little things out. But here's how my end of stay went: I received notice that my lease was up about a month before my move. I also received a note that management would love for me to stay, and my month to month lease price would be $6820/month for my 1 bedroom apartment. $6820?.. That's insulting. On moving out, my walk-through was rescheduled 3 times while I waited for someone to show up. On the list of fees was $220 for touch-up paint. I can understand apartment ($170)and rug cleaning ($70), but $220 for very clean walls that could be restored with a small amount of paint and putty (screw holes) I was not happy. After several messages, Debbie let me know it would be reduced. Still, that's pretty much the security deposit. On the bright side: Debbie, the assistant manager, is the heart and soul of the place. She will tell you like it is, and at least apologize when things go wrong, rather than leaving you with no response. Hopefully soon, she will have her own property to lead with her warmth and charm. In Summary: Bay area housing is expensive. If I have to pay the (ridiculous) rent at least provide the service and protection you tell me when I sign the lease. and if I have to pay fees and penalties when something is damaged, why don't you? Pretending it didn't happen isn't the same thing.

Yelp
We are going into our third year living here at Elements. Over the past couple years we've definitely noticed a lot of improvements here. The leasing office staff and property management have made necessary changes cleaning up the interior and exterior of the complex. The amenities have always been great, and recently they upgraded the gym with new flooring and equipment. The staff are super friendly (thank you Joseph and Jessica for being so great and easy to work with) and are very responsive with tenant communication. Whether it's updates around the complex or communicating to resolve an issue happening, the staff are very helpful and always do their best. We love our apartment, the layout is spacious and comfortable with updated furnishings. Overall we have had a great experience living here and are really happy living at Elements.

Yelp
Very nice rooms, but dont come if you're trying to sleep the night. Kept hearing loud noise throughout the night from the ceiling.

Yelp
Elements Apartment Homes is a truly beautiful community! Manager Joseph Olsick was AMAZING!! If you are interested in looking at this property go to Joseph really goes the extra mile to answer your questions and truly has your best interest in mind! I recommend this property.

Yelp
After last night I have decided to update my last review because NOTHING has changed, DO NOT MOVE IN because if anything this community continues to spiral downhill and get worse. If you don't enjoy the following DO NOT MOVE HERE: Yesterday there was a party in one of the common areas that is suppose to be checked by security at 10pm and be closed. It went on till 1am which after the amounts of drunken kids (20 year olds) spilled out to the streets causing multiple neighbors to come out...NOT the first time. There has been a broken wine bottle in the bark area that dogs do there buisness on for 2 weeks and it has yet to be swept up!! If you have pet don't rent here because the amount of poop that isn't picked up is ridiculous and never gets better (2 year experience). They say it is a smoke free environment but it isnt!! At all... they just send out emails that keep being ignored. Homeless people continue to live in the stairwells or by main entrences so if she leave to work early or come home late you'll have a run in with people asking to let you in. The elevator is always trashed over night. There are appts where 6 people are living together and we pay their water bill because its only split with people on the lease ( They say its about $60 for utilities but we have never seen it under $100). People love leaving their trash outside there doors for days and its apparently okay because nothing is done even after a notice on their door. NOW the ladies in the office are amazing and the maintenance team try their best but they can't controll what others do and this is the reality of this community!!

Yelp
Just wanted to provide an update on the progress they have made on the security issue that has been going on for the last 2 to 3 years. They had yet another break in to an apartment on the 4th floor two weeks ago. Someone was able to get into the Community, and break into an apartment. The same week a resident had "an unwanted guest come up to the apartment." I would assume this was another homeless person, but the Elements staff provided very little detail on this. They again blamed this on "another community member may have let this guest in." I'm sorry, but no logical resident is just going to willingly let a burglar and/or a homeless person into the community. Not only does this show their inability to take ANY responsibility for anything, but it also proves that they don't care to provide a safe community as this problem has been going on for 2-3 years and still hasn't been addressed. As a reminder, when I brought up this issue to the District Manager, the response I received was "we don't claim to be a security complex."

Yelp
2018 Lights - In spring of '17, management was notified that there were several lights out on the property, which is even a bigger deal from a safety standpoint with all of the vandalism, car break-ins, and homeless people on our property. A few of the lightbulbs were replaced, but then management reported that the job could not be completed because they "ran out of lightbulbs" - In Fall of '17, management was called out on their b.s. excuse and was told that 5-6 months is more than enough time to purchase lightbulbs. They were also informed that around that there were nearly 100 lights out along the parking lot, walkway, and interior walkway where the pool and bbq areas are. Their response was to replace about 25% of the bulbs that were out, and place painter's tape on the rest so they know which ones were still not fixed - Mid February 2018 - Five and a half months later, and nothing else has been done Dog Sh*t - Take a walk around the perimeter of the building, and you'll see 25-50 piles of dog sh*t on any given day. A**hole neighbors don't pick up after their dogs, and maintenance has stopped picking it up. The medical building across the parking lot hates us because their lawn has been sh*tted on and left. If you're walking around here, don't wear your good shoes

Yelp
Our apartment was decent. Old and used, some things needed repairing after the move in and some stuff didn't get fixed after the maintenance came in to "repair" it (If it does it's purpose, it works, to them at least). The area, not so good, thanks to loud motorcycles passing by in the middle of the night, homeless people outside yelling, and very, very mean people that live in the apartment complex. There's been people getting tased in front of our apartment...wasn't very fun to listen to. Some areas of the apartments smelled like dogs poop and piss. The leasing office staff...-100/10! Not only do they hold your packages, they don't tell you when they've arrived, or are too lazy to actually check all the packages in the back of the leasing center near the restrooms. Yes, holidays get crazy, but why not send emails/notifications while sitting and waiting for the next appointment to arrive for an apartment tour? If you go in the back towards the restrooms in the office during holidays, you'll see PILES of packages just sitting there! And continue to sit there all through early spring when everyone's looking where their package is. Even after we moved out, I told them a package was accidentally sent to the old apartment and they told me they would notify me when it arrived and will hold up to 48 hours. I kept checking and emailing about it after it said "delivered", Elements kept saying "no we don't have it" and then said they'd email if they did receive it. I never got a call, text, email, or letter to be told to pick it up. I updated the tracking number and apparently, was at Elements for 3+ weeks and just recently returned to sender. So, my package was gone and I had no way of getting it back. But that's just one of the MANY issues with the staff. Another thing, when and if someone parks in your spot after 5 pm, the apartments can't tow that car out. What's the point of reporting when you can't do anything about it other than having them leave a warning paper on the car? Then you HAVE to park somewhere else( residents, don't be a prick and steal someone else's parking spot! There's visitor parking for your family and friends). I also find it pointless on paying for additional parking if they won't tow. While staying at the apartments, there were about three reports of break ins to the garage and breaking car windows. My roommates bike was stolen from the bike room! Yet elements assured us that they haven't had stolen bikes with the new gates and whatever. Complete bs just to get your trust. There's no security cameras to help you. After move out, we've had issues with the leasing staff to get our deposit back. They charged us $500+ for carpet replacement/cleaning, when they told us we WOULDN'T be charged since the carpet was old and was getting REPLACED. They charged us $300+ for painting when the thing they said was "touch up" painting?? They also wanted to charge and blame us for ceiling leaking damage because of some irresponsible parent (resident above us) leaving their kid in the bath alone and overflowing it, leading it to go through our ceiling. We asked for documentation so we could use this and be safe when moving out. The maintenance guy said yes, he'll make a report. Lies. He, nor the leasing office made the report. So we were being blamed for the "yellowing" on the ceiling. Luckily, we had proof and photos of the event to back us up. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING IF YOU LIVE HERE. Don't trust the leasing or workers to do it for you. They won't! It took (who knows how long) weeks for them to resolve the issue about the deposit since Jazmin Chavez proceeded to ignore our emails. We only got this resolved because we went in person. The check from our deposit took FIVE MONTHS to get back to us. FIVE MONTHS of having to go back and forth AGAIN for our deposit back. It's ridiculous. You would think this is a cheap and decent place to live. DONT! THEY'LL TRY TO SCAM YOU IF YOU'RE NOT CAREFUL! This is one of the worst apartments you can get. Elements, the standard, and Mosaic apartments are all under one company, don't trust these three. Avoid the area! Every time I saw a possible new resident, I just wanted to scream "RUN AND NEVER COME BACK".

Ardy E.

Yelp
Look at all one star reviews below - the worst property in Silicon Valley I have ever lived in: everyone has a negative experience with this property and its management. Don't burn your hardly earned cash with this property. We moved to this property on November 2016 and so far many many times the elevator and garage gates went broken. They have a designated area for bicycles that you need to use your key to scan and enter that area. Despite the presence of security camera and designated area for bicycles, our brand new bicycle was stolen from the secure bike area and the property manager has refused to provide footage of the camera installed in the bike area. As a result of no footage provided, i was not able to submit a footage to my renter''s insurance and get reimbursement. The management simply doesn't care about safety of its residents and you're on your own if someone breaks into your apartment. The area is full of homeless people and drug addicts and since the parking garage is too often broken, they can enter the property and break into your cars and eventually your apartment. It seems that this property has had issues with proper management and the corporate often replaces management and staff with no improvements. We recently experience water intrusion in our apartment caused by another tenant on the fourth floor. At 11:00PM, we informed the property management that water is pouring from our bathroom and bedroom ceiling. They came in at 2:00AM and with complete rudeness demanded us to leave the apartment and suggested to go and stay with our FRIENDS for the night. Who the hell goes to his friend's house at 2:00AM? We left our apartment on June 3rd and after one months still there was no repairs - the property demanded us to pay rent even though we stayed out of our apartment and paid for hotel and many other expenses occurred due to this incident. We were extremely frustrated with the ways the management handled communication with us, contractor etc. Because of their ignorance and being careless toward their residents, the repair has been delayed for more than one months and affected residents have been staying at hotel with no access to their belongings. The management team at this property failed to handle this emergency issue and treated us unfairly. under California Civil Code 1942, if repair takes longer than 30 days, tenant either can break the lease or refuse to pay rent. But, the property management sent us a letter giving us 3 day notice to pay rent for the month that we even did not live in our apartment and they already have moved all our furniture. If you'd like to overly be charged while being unfairly treated and be taken advantaged of by inexperienced staff and managers, come and live in elements or mosaic apartments.

Yelp
This is a lemon apartment complex, considering it's fairly brand new (10-15 years?). The garage door, elevator and water are on rotation to BREAK DOWN. We currently have 1/2 a gate working. HALF!!! Noisy, Noisy, Noisy! On Parkmoor, there is a school so traffic is CRAZY & Loud. I've heard from neighbors, that the veterinary clinic, that houses dogs, on Parkmoor has dogs howling all night long. On Lincoln, the Sons of Anarchy and their motorcycles flaunt their mufflers ALL. NIGHT. LONG. The Light Rail is hardly noticeable (if you're a heavy sleeper), but there is a TRAIN that runs about midnight EVERY NIGHT. Oh, and let's not forget the Gardeners EVERY Saturday at 6:30 am with their leaf blowers and lawnmower. Think you can enjoy sleeping in and having morning coffee peacefully??? Think again! On Sunday nights (about 6ish) they run their "leaf blower on a truck." That's special. Ugh. Parking SUCKS!!!!! I'll say it again... PARKING SUCKS!!!! We share the Race Street lot with light rail and San Jose Medical Group (SJMG). If you don't get here before 3 pm, you are so screwed. SJMG tows your car whatever time, any time, you park in their lot. Management has not, and has sent an email saying they will not, do anything about this. Forget about having guests over or having an extra car. It WILL cost you $500 (minimum) each time. Fantastic, right? Maintenance and Management are so slow to respond. Let's just say I've had an outstanding maintenance request since January. It's March. I'm still waiting. They keep telling me they're waiting for, "A part," to arrive. Right... I have one star because of the apartments. They are really spacious and beautiful. Other than that, I'd give a negative. If you don't mind absent minded management, maintenance, sh** breaking down ALL THE TIME and loud, obstructive noises I recommend this apartment complex. If you're smart, you'll look elsewhere.

Yelp
I lived there for a year with my wife. The front staff are RUDE, they loose paper work and accusing you of not returning them and one of them has TERRIBLE ATTITUDE. Luckily we have moved out but such an unpleasant move out. The move out process is simple, you notify them you are not extending your lease, someone from office will come inside the apartment and inspect it. But the inspection is fake. Why? it is because few days before we move out, the inspection guy did not show up (I know why). So we called and asked someone to inspect the apartment with us. Someone from office came and stated that everything is in perfect condition and also encouraged us to take photos before move out which we did. Few days passed and we received a bill charged us for more than $250. The charges include $70 carpet cleaning (OK) $140 apartment cleaning (not ok but fine I dont have time to fight all details) and $55 paint. That pissed me off specially because the paint was not harmed, only normal wear when the wall is exposed to the air vs it is hidden behind furniture. I went to office to talk to front desk agents and gods she was rude not event making little attempt to talk but directed us to some 3rd party customer service in PHX Arizona. I asked for details about paint touch up and they sent me pictures which clearly shows paint is in good condition not harmed by us and only normal wear. When we lived there, we asked to talk to the management a number of times, he/she was never available, never called us to discuss the bad attitude one of the front desk agents has (I am talking about the lady that has been there for a while not the new one). She is terrible, the worst I have seen dealing with a customer in a rental complex. Other problems with this place, our SLR camera was stolen from the door before we pick it up. The garbage shooting smells with lid always open. The garage door is always out of order. Breaking into cars is a usual business. There is parking spot available ever for guests. My advise to anyone thinking about this place, do not let the initial price and nice looking place lure you. They will jack up the price significantly every year and it is not worth dealing with rude front desk. The area is also not nice, you dont dare walking alone at night. Pictures to come

Yelp
We moved in last year during the pandemic and it wasn't too bad. But wow, this place has gone downhill. Walk around the outskirts community and you will be followed by strong smells of dog pee and you'll need to watch every step as there is dog poop everywhere. This is the least of the issues that this community has. Believe the bad reviews from years prior. Trash rooms are disgusting. The walls and floors are filthy. We literally had someone leave dog poop in front of our apartment door. Literally on the hallway carpet. Recently there has been an influx of new people living here who don't even have keys and will beg you to let them in. The leasing office is now requesting audits of who has keys and whether or not they should have them. Really? Random people just walk in and it has become so unsafe. This is also supposed to be a no-smoking community, but our neighbors don't seem to care. We have reported this issue to the leasing office three times and nothing has changed. The hallway and elevator now stink of cigarettes. If you're looking for a quiet community, this place isn't it. People hang out in the parking lot drinking and smoking while also talking so loudly that you can hear every word at 1 AM. People also love to park in spaces that they do not pay for. I have had to talk to the leasing office about calling the tow truck on people parking in a spot that I pay for multiple times. Overall this community has gone to crap. We have already begun the process of moving out and our lease isn't even over yet. Yes, it's that bad. Do yourself a favor and give your money to a community that cares about cleanliness and safety.

Yelp
High end apartments with worst then section 8 staff . This was the worst appartment ive ever lived at. The staff is very rude once you sign your lease they could care less about you... they all claim to be the Manager but lack the skills .. ive put in multiple work orders that never got fixed .. they denied pool access every request i put in.. people steal in the parking garage security barely speaks any English so they can't help you with any problems because they don't understand anything you say i've seen multiple domestic disputes going on.trash piles up in the trash rooms to the point you cant walk inside ... and the neighbors are very unfriendly talk shit on the Facebook community. So all in all if you want to fork out 3,000 a month and constantly deal with problems move here youll love it !!

Tasha L.

Yelp
It was great to live here, but if you want your deposit back, don't stay here. I moved out about 3 months ago and I still haven't gotten my deposit back. I've reached out numerous times via phone and in person (if they don't pick up the phone, their voicebox is full so you can never send a voice message). I'm at the point of sending a demand letter and bringing them to court. If you don't care about your deposit though, this place is just fine.
